The purpose of the article is to analyze the theoretical aspect of the concept of musical modernism O. Korchova, to identify debatable aspects important for the creation of the inter-artistic theory of modernism. Methodology: used historical, cultural, and comparative methods, with the involvement of philosophy and psychology. The scientific novelty of the study is that the musicological concept of modernism is compared with the literary, which proves the need to create an inter-artistic theory of modernism, necessary in the practice of stylistic analysis of modernist works. Conclusions. An important achievement of O. Korchova's research is the search for a "stylistic formula" of each composer of the epoch. The artist is looking not just for a consonant style or form, but for himself and his style. Individual style does not arise from simple combinations of borrowed. Styles of modernism conflict with each other, to combine them, to avoid eclecticism, you need to find a way and a reason to combine. The way to find your style is never purely artistic, it is always vital. Modernists, putting art in the first place in aesthetics, discovered the concept of life creation, which distinguishes the modernist from the artists of previous eras. Life-creation is a special way of an artist into art, movement simultaneously in two dimensions, external and internal, their constant coordination and gradual transformation of oneself, with life and works together, into a cultural phenomenon. And if this happened - then something unique was formed, unique, completely individual, and at the same time universal, something original and holistic, something that will become a value for contemporaries and descendants, that is, the author's style. Just as it is not easy for every artist to find his style, so it is not easy for a researcher to find a formula for this style. But without such a goal, the study of creativity will be historiographical, descriptive, and rhetorical. It is important for every scholar who studies specific texts of culture to understand the trends of the era and the psychology of the creative process, all the laws that unite.

Objective: To develop and test a decision-support tool for prioritizing new competing Health Technologies (HTs) after their assessment using the mini-HTA approach. Methods:A two layer value/risk tool was developed based on the mini-HTA. The first layer included 12 mini-HTA variables classified in two dimensions, namely value (safety, clinical benefit, patient impact, cost-effectiveness, quality of the evidence, innovativeness) and risk (staff, space and process of care impacts, incremental costs, net cost, investment effort). Weights given to these variables were obtained from a survey among decision-makers (at National/Regional level and hospital settings). A second layer included results from mini-HTA (scored as higher, equal or lower), which compares the performance of the new HT (in terms of the abovementioned 12 variables) with the available comparator. An algorithm combining the first (weights) and second (scores) layers was developed to obtain an overall score for each HT, which was then plotted in a value/risk matrix. The tool was tested using results from the mini-HTAs for three new HTs (Surgical Robot, Platelet Rich Plasma, Deep Brain Stimulation). Results: No significant differences among decision-makers were observed as regards the weights given to the 12 variables, therefore, the median aggregate weights from decision-makers were introduced in the first layer. The dot plot resulting from the mini-HTA presented good power to visually discriminate between the assessed HTs.Conclusion: The decision-support tool developed here makes possible a robust and straightforward comparison of different competing HTs. This facilitates hospital decision-makers deliberations on the prioritization of competing investments under fixed budgets.

Dutch still-life is a distinctive cultural phenomenon of the 17th century. Collecting of rarities, curiosities, plants, paintings, sculptures and many other rare things was characteristic for that period. Seashells which were brought from the exotic countries attracted the attention and love of collectors and artists. J. Hoefnagel was one of the first who took an interest to seashells in the emblems. In the early Dutch flower still-life shells were found occasionally but from the beginning of the first quarter of the 17th century artists started to add these graceful creations almost into all compositions with flower bouquets and fruits. New type of still-life with seashells appeared abundantly in painting of Balthasar van der Ast, Jan Davidsz de Heеm, Abraham Beyeren, Willem Kalf and others. While the naturalism in still-life painting brought to the maximum, there was a problem of veracity in depicting shells in the engravings, for example, in Rembrandt’s work. This problem was eventually solved only in the second half of the 17th century, so engravings and zoological illustrations began to show the curl of the shells in its correct direction, exactly clockwise. This research poses problems of the appearance of shells as collectibles and Dutch still-life’ motifs, visual traditions and shells’ classification in the paintings. The article is relevant with interdisciplinary method; some mollusks zoological names with indication of their origin place are given; the cultural and historical context is generalized; the stylistic analysis takes into account the emblematics’ traditions.

The article outlines the problem of combining professional and personal qualities in the choir conductor. Research gaps in the profession of choir conductor are outlined. We established that the art of conducting, and choral performance as its component, currently requires professionally trained personnel, who have an active life position and are able to provide a creative approach to choral singing. It was found that conducting should be interpreted as a creative process characterized by a step-by-step structure and a combination of analysis and comprehension of the choral score, its artistic interpretation, which allows embodying the formed musical image in the real choral sound. It was found that the conductor’s professional qualities are based on the conductor’s individual style or his “creative method”. It is established that the emotional sphere of the conductor is the result of a combination of qualities that will allow the conductor and the choir to demonstrate a bright and convincing revelation of the originality of texture, expressive timbre colors of numerous choral scores, and a rich palette of nuances.

Religiosity affects various aspects of consumer behavior. This research distinguishes two dimensions: Intrinsic religiosity is lived per se, as a personal and intimate value; extrinsic religiosity is an instrument to attain personal goals by connecting with other people. Intrinsic and extrinsic religiosity likely affect the functions of consumers attitudes toward products, both value-expressive (e.g., to express the individual self) and social-adjustive (e.g., to be accepted by social groups). Intrinsically religious consumers have an inner self defined by their religiosity, so they do not seek social approval. They should have less need for products to express their inner selves or manifest social ties, compared with extrinsically religious consumers. In contrast, extrinsic religiosity may increase both value-expressive and social-adjustive functions of products. Study 1 supports these hypotheses; intrinsic religiosity decreases the value-expressive and social-adjustive functions of consumer attitudes, whereas extrinsic religiosity increases both attitude functions. Study 2 applies these findings to an advertising context and reveals that the purchase intentions of intrinsically religious consumers increase when they view a value-expressive instead of a social-adjustive advertisement. Purchase intentions among extrinsically religious consumers are higher than those of intrinsically religious consumers when they view a social-adjustive advertisement.

The main focus of this research is the study of Istanbul Chowk, Lahore from the perspective of its historical evolution during the British Colonial period and post partition transformation. This area was known as 'Exhibition Road' during the British times and Patras Bukhari Chowk after partition, named after the famous writer and the former principal of Government College of Lahore. The name 'Istanbul Chowk' was given later, named after the city of Istanbul in Turkey. This is the first chowk or public space on the west end of the Mall Road, institutional in character and an example of 19th century colonial planning. The Mall Road is named after the central street of London, which leads from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square. Ceremonial royal processions pass down the Mall. This road was planned in 1851 by Col. Napier to connect the city with the new cantonment that was 7 miles to the east. The theoretical aspect of 'Colonial spatial imagination' is discussed in connection with the design of this unified urban space in its form and character. The intangible aspects of urban culture contributing towards the construction of 'spirit of place' over a period of time extending into the post partition era have also been explored. This research paper also studies the post partition gradual transformation of this place and identifies the spatial changes and loss of urban heritage which played an important role in forming the identity and spirit of this place. Keywords: Place making, colonial spatial imagination, genius loci, palimpsest, Lahore

This article describes the cultural phenomenon of selfie. It describes psychological and social conditions as well as historical background. In addition, the theoretical aspect was enriched by research on a sample of 196 respondents from three universities. The questionnaire was aimed at finding answers to many questions, sometimes even controversial, such as the aspect of selfie in an intimate situation. The article aims to find the answer to the question: what is the cause of the phenomenon of selfie all over the world, including Poland. What is the meaning of selfie for the people I have examined (to a small extent) (singles, people who have a partner and are divorced). This is important because we know that such photos are posted in social media, but why and how often – we usually don't know that. I was interested in the frequency of posting photos by the respondents, processing photos with graphic programs, posting photos taken in an intimate situation as well as tracking “likes” in social media. The respondents enabled us to look at the phenomenon and draw some conclusions, which I described in detail in the summary.

The article deals with the study of an essential for the American culture concept “successful person” through the lens of linguistic axiology. A linguo-axiological approach to language study makes it possible to detect important information about the American axiological world view and gives an opportunity of a more detailed familiarization with the American national character and mindset. The aim of the paper is to reveal and analyze the ways of verbalization of the value component of the concept “successful person” as well as to determine its place in the axiological world view of the representatives of modern American linguistic culture. The research is based on the analysis of various types of English dictionaries: defining, phraseological, etymological, etc. The analysis revealed that the concept under investigation is widely represented in the language on the lexical and phraseological levels, possesses vivid evaluative characteristics and has a branched semantic structure. This concept also acquires in the culture a metaphorical interpretation and is verbalized by a series of metaphors. The concept “successful person” holds one of the dominant positions in the American world view being a realization of the key idea of a national cultural phenomenon “American Dream”.

This paper is the first complex research of lexical synonyms as components of the artistic discourse of modern Ukrainian female prose introduced into the field of semantic, linguistic and stylistic analysis. The scientific novelty of the paper is that for the first time in linguistic and Ukrainian studies the lexical synonymy in modern Ukrainian female prose is comprehensively explored, as a result of which the semantic, linguistic and stylistic features of synonyms are clarified. The study proves that in the analyzed works lexical synonyms, which express the idiolects of modern Ukrainian female prose writers and constitute a set of expressive and imaging marking means of their language creation, represent a number of semantic, linguistic-stylistic, categories. Which allows interpreting them not only in the functional-semantic context but also within linguostylistics. Modern Ukrainian female prose in Ukrainian literature is the latest holistic socio-cultural phenomenon is represented by the works of such authors as Emma Andiievska, Sophiia Andrukhovych, Nina Bichui, Liuko Dashvar, Oksana Zabuzhko, Kateryna Kalytko, Irena Karpa, Yevhenii Kononenko, Maria Matios and others. In the paper it is proved that word convergences appear in the literary text because of the special purpose, the purpose set by the authors, therefore they become striking representatives of idiolects of separate masters of prose. In the paper a detailed analysis of lexical synonyms is carried out, which in the artistic discourse of modern Ukrainian female prose perform a number of basic and additional functions, among which are: functions of differentiation, substitution, aesthetics, synonymic opposition, etc. Using lexical synonyms in different contexts, prose female writers always carefully weigh the semantic nuances of each word, thus achieving the expressiveness, sophistication and high aesthetic value of their literature.
