Introduction. The article analyzes the impact of forced self-isolation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic in the spring of 2020 on communication between people living together. The relevance of the topic, in addition to the current situation in society, is determined by the fact that interpersonal communication is a factor that has a great influence on the quality of relations between people, and therefore on the psychological stability of each individual. The purpose of the article is to find out how the self-isolation regime affected the communication between people living together.Methodology and sources. The current situation in modern society actualizes the value of using methods of analysis and management of communicative behavior in the practice of interpersonal communications, such as Nonviolent Communication by M. Rosenberg, Transactional Analysis by E. Berne, Neuro-Linguistic Programming. They were used by the author of the article as a source to identify the key problems of interpersonal communication during self-isolation.Results and discussion. To solve the problems of the study, we conducted a survey, in which 217 respondents took part. Guided by the task to describe as accurately as possible the nature of changes in communication between people living together, the author included different groups of questions in the questionnaire. The first group is aimed at assessing communication as a whole through an attempt to look at it from the outside. Further, the respondent was asked to recall the difficulties and positive changes brought to communication by a new way of life and, possibly, by an emotional state. The next two questions were devoted to tense and conflict situations: the respondent was asked to evaluate the changes in their number, and then, in the open-ended question, write how the ways of solving such situations during self-isolation have changed. Two more questions were aimed at assessing changes in the communicative behavior of cohabitants and their own. In the last, also open-ended question, the author was interested in the general nature of changes in communication with family and friends with whom the respondent does not live together.Conclusion. The study confirmed the author’s assumption that there were significant changes in the communication between people living together during the period of forced self-isolation in the spring of 2020.During the study period, there were more tense and conflict situations in communication between cohabitants, which made the search for new communication strategies and techniques to preserve the psychological stability of interpersonal relations. Many respondents noted the positive impact of the period of self-isolation on their relationships with people living with them. Among the difficulties, the most common were communication fatigue, difficulty in expressing their emotions, self-disclosure, and an increase in the number of conflicts.

The Health care accessibility for inhabitants, especially in rural regions, is related to the problem of the medical staff availability in state and municipal hospitals and ambulatory institutions as well as for General Practitioners. Despite the fact, that there are two state Universities – University of Latvia and Rıga Stradiņš University, as well as colleges, that educate medical staff – there is a lack of human resources in health care institutions in Latvia. The Ministry of Health and municipalities had several initiatives to solve this problem – changes in regulations for Residency students, programme financed by European Funds with obtainable funding in the amount of 10 million euro, as well as different stimuli and programmes from municipalities. The research explores the current situation with staff availability and, basing on interviews and outcomes, analyzes the effectiveness of the available programmes to attract human resources, and predict the impact and outcomes of those activities. The results showed that all the programmes had some fragmented positive impact and partially solve the problem, but those activities will not provide sufficient outcomes and the problem of medical staff availability will still be the urgent topic in future.

Abstract The main purpose of this paper is to measure the impact that homophily, structural characteristics of the networks, number of citations of the alters and their Hirsch score have on the number of citations of an ego. I have chosen co-authorship networks as a subject of research because they have a great influence on knowledge and on the diffusion of ideas. The studied populations are represented by full-time academics affiliated to sociology departments in Romania, Poland and Slovenia. Ego-network analysis was used as research design. The data was analyzed using linear hierarchical regression. For all three populations the average number of citations of the alter has a considerable positive impact on the number of citations of the ego. Conversely, the Hirsch score of the alter has a negative impact on the number of citations of the ego. The data analyzed in this article claims that the assumptions about the positive impact of alter citations, network size and the betweenness score on the number of the authors citations are supported empirically.

In the article presented humor has been considered as an integrant part of foreign language teaching that can facilitate more effective students’ learning. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of humor in teaching foreign languages at non-linguistic faculties in the conditions of shortening classroom hours and the most appropriate types of humor to use in a classroom for the successful acquisition of a foreign language by university students. To deal with the tasks and achieve the research purpose, theoretical and qualitative research methods have been used: the analysis of pedagogical and psychological works, the systematization of scientists’ views and achievements combined with many years of teaching experience and observations. It has been noted that humor can take many forms and perform a variety of psychological functions in modern society. At university humor helps to learn in two ways: right through the emotional sphere and stimulating the process of cognition and indirectly by means of creating a more welcoming atmosphere, which in turn has a positive impact on the success of knowledge acquisition. Humor has a powerful effect on mental activity and consequently, improving the capacity of involuntary memorization, causes a kind of reflexive orientation to novelty. Moreover, humor is an express method of psychological relaxation in class. Special attention has been paid to the impact of humor on the emotional state of students and finding the most appropriate types and forms of humor to be used in class. An attempt to prove the importance of using humor in class in order to improve students’ acquisition of a foreign language in a higher education institution, notwithstanding the shortening of classroom hours according to the language course has been made.

Due to the fact that teacher-student rapport may favorably influence students' academic behaviors, several scholars have empirically studied the impact of this interpersonal communication behavior on a range of student-related variables. Notwithstanding, academic engagement as another student-related variable has received less empirical attention. Further, no review study has been carried out to illustrate the beneficial outcomes of teacher-student rapport for students' involvement. The current study, hence, aims to fill these gaps by explaining the construct of teacher-student-rapport and its positive consequences for students' academic engagement in the practical instruction classrooms. Drawing on the available evidence, the positive impact of teacher-student rapport on students' academic engagement was illuminated. The significant implications of the finding are also discussed.

One of the urgent problems facing the district of Ukrainian sustainable and safe development, the unconditional imperative of which was recognized as a global strategy for further safe development of society, is the emergence and exacerbation of corporate conflicts in the practice of domestic enterprises at the present stage of economic development. This problem has become increasingly relevant, in recent years, as the escalation of conflicts between the interests of corporate actors, which were the main prerequisite for conflict and closely linked to the processes taking place in our society. It was noted that any conflict should be considered as an opportunity to identify different points of view, obtain information, and identify new opportunities and solutions that are key to resolving conflicts. Therefore, the interests of all parties must be agreed and aimed at achieving the goals of the enterprise, and the leader must reduce tensions and know who is specifically involved in the conflict. The impact of conflicts on the enterprise’s economic security may not benefit the management, because of this economic security, as an opportunity to effectively achieve the main goal of its activities – to make a profit – is threatened. The most vulnerable threat to the company is the imbalance of economic relations due to conflicts that have varying degrees of localization, but inevitably lead to reduced performance, disruption of its financial balance and stability. Confronting such threats is possible only with a clear idea of the conflicts nature, their types, causes and mechanism for neutralizing the consequences. The problem of resolving conflict situations has always been and is relevant for any modern society, because conflict is the most acute means of resolving contradictions that arise in the process of interaction between the two parties. Conflict in the field of economic security of the enterprise plays a special role for enterprises. Conflicts within the enterprise can stir up a healthy climate, thus threatening the economic security of the enterprise where the conflict occurs.
