In the article the peculiarities of the influence of fodder additives HammecoTox and Zeolit on the organism of rats under conditions of experimental chronic fumonisin toxicosis are given. The research was carried out under vivarium of State Scientific-Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicinal Products and Feed Additives. In the experiment, 40 rats of body weight 165–170 g. were used. 4 groups were formed. First group of animals was control, in experimental II, III, and IV groups of animals chronic fumonisin toxicosis was reproduced. Rats were injected intragastrically daily of 90 mg of fumonisin per animal. After the manifestation of clinical signs of fumonisin toxicosis on the 21st day, animals of groups ІІІ-ІV began to feed fodder additives, respectively, rats from group III – HammecoTox, IV – Zeolit. After injection of fumonisin to experimental rats, the morpho-functional state of animals has been gradually changing since the first days. Clinical picture of fumonisin toxicosis in experimental rats at day 14 was manifested by dermo-necrotic effect, it was observed redness and formation of crust on visible mucous membranes, nose, showed swelling and redness of the forelocks. After the analysis of the obtained results of hematological researches on the 14th day in rats of group II under the conditions of experimental fumonisin toxicosis, was revealed a probable increase in the number of leukocytes, was established a tendency for growth, the number of eosinophils, segmental neutrophils, as well as a decrease in the number of lymphocytes, monocytes, compared with the control group. In the analysis of leukograms was noted a tendency to shift the nucleus to the left. These results indicated the presence of inflammatory processes and reduced immune protection of the organism of animals in general. After using of feed additives of HammecoTox and Zeolit under conditions of fumonisin toxicosis, of particular note is the stabilization of hematological parameters, the content of hematocrit, the number of leukocytes, the increase in the content of eosinophils and lymphocytes, which reflects the activation of hematopoiesis in the organism of experimental animals and its protective factors. An increase in the urea content in these groups indicates the recovery of urea-synthesis and urea-excretory liver function. In general, for the period of the conducted searches, the effectiveness of both feed additives in the experimental fumonisin toxicosis has been established. However, it should be noted that more active processes of normalizing the clinical condition of experimental rats when using HammecoTox, which is due to the complex influence of the means on the organism of animals.

Background: An in-depth study of dismetabolic mechanisms in the genesis of pre-eclampsia (PE) has been updated because pregnancy is considered as a natural model of metabolic syndrome (MS), as well as the metabolic disorders are important in development of essential hypertension.Aims: to reveal clinical and laboratory parallels in pregnancy complicated by PE without MS and pregnancy proceeding on the background of MS to assess the role of metabolic disturbances in the development of PE.Materials and methods: 82 women with MS were examined in the dynamics of pregnancy and were divided into 2 groups depending on the implementation of PE: group I consisted of 50 women with PE on the background of MS, group II 32 women with MS without PE. We formed group III consisting of 44 pregnant women with PE without accompanying diseases to assess the pathogenetic value of metabolic disorders in the development of PE. The IV (control) group consisted of 30 healthy women with physiological pregnancy. Metabolic, hematological parameters, hormones, markers of the proinflammatory state, endothelial hemostasiological dysfunction, decidualization and placental angiogenesis, accumulation dynamics and distribution loci of adipose tissue were determined in all pregnant women. Results: In the groups of pregnant women with PE, changes similar to MS were revealed: pronounced diabetic and atherogenic disorders with the development of pathological insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia and leptinemia, endothelial-platelet link hyperactivation, thrombotic and inflammatory status, visceral type of fat deposition, hyperuricemia, hypersympathicotonia. It is proved that in the hierarchy of mechanisms of PE formation, placental dysfunction is a secondary alteration factor, which additionally potentiates the insulin resistance increase and the effects of structural and functional destabilization of the vascular endothelium. Conclusions: The direction of metabolic changes during pregnancy, the common development of PE and MS indicate the important role of dismetabolic mechanisms in the formation of PE.

Studies on the safety of herbal medicine are essential for the development of new drugs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL) of HVC1 (Gamisamhwangsasim-tang, a 30% ethanol extract of a mixture of Pruni Cortex, Scutellariae Radix, Coptidis Rhizoma, and Rhei Rhizoma) and identify its target organs after oral administration to Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats repeatedly for 13 weeks. Three test groups were treated with HVC1 at a dose of either 500 (low-dose), 1,000 (middle-dose), or 2,000 (high-dose) mg/kg/day. Another group received high-dose HVC1 and was observed for 4 weeks following treatment to examine recovery from the effects of the extract. All treatment groups were compared to a vehicle control group. During the study, mortality, clinical signs, body weight changes, food consumption, abnormal lesions in the eye, urinary parameters, hematological parameters, blood coagulation time, blood biochemical parameters, changes in organ weight, gross findings, and histopathological changes were examined. No systemic toxicity related to HVC1 was observed in any group, and it was concluded that the NOAEL of HVC1 was 2,000 mg/kg/day. No target organ was identified.

<b>The aim of the study was to analyse the effect of selected feed additives (pro-, pre- and synbiotics) on the health of mink, morphometric parameters of their digestive tract, and microbiological identification of its contents. The observations were made on pastel mink assigned to the following dietary treatments: group I – standard farm feed without supplements, group II – probiotic-supplemented feed, group III – prebiotic-supplemented feed, and group IV – synbiotic-supplemented feed. The feed additives were found to affect the growth and weight gains of the mink. Body weight at winter fur priming ranged from 1.45 to 2.54 kg in females and from 2.70 to 4.20 kg in males. During the rearing period (weaning to slaughter), the highest weight gains were observed in the group receiving prebiotics – on average 760 g in females and 1970 g in males. Analysis of the morphometric parameters of the digestive tract showed highly significant differences between means for the groups, except for the weight of the lungs and spleen and the length of the stomach. The mean concentration of total bacteria in the intestinal contents was similar in groups II and III (8.5-9.4 x 104 CFU/g), higher in group IV, and highest in the control group (5.9 x 106 CFU/g). Among the bacteria identified, <i>Corynebacterium</i> was dominant in all groups. The total fungal count in the intestinal contents was lowest in the mink receiving prebiotics. The dominant fungi were <i>Candida</i>, particularly <i>Candida glabrata</i>. The proportion of fungi of this genus varied between groups from 84.5% to 89.5%. The other fungi identified in the digesta were <i>Rhizopus</i> spp. and <i>Aspergillus</i> spp.</b>

ABSTRACT The concentration of sex hormones and their binding in the plasma were measured in male patients (20–40 years old), who weighed 140–170 % (I), 170–200 % (II) and > 200 % (III) of their ideal weight. Correlated to body weight, there is a reduction in the total concentration of testosterone, which, in the very obese patients, amounts to 41 % (in group I: 85 % in group II: 68 % P < 0.001) of that found in an age-matched healthy control group of subjects of "normal" body weight (90–115 % of the ideal body weight; n: 20). Androstenedione values show only a trend downwards (from 0.94 to 0.72 ng/ml plasma), while the oestrogen values increase significantly; oestrone increases by a factor of 1.09 (I), 1.43 (II; P < 0.001) and 1.69 (III; P < 0.001) and oestradiol by 1.13, 1.43 P < 0.001) and 1.76 (P < 0.001), respectively. Despite the fall in testosterone there are no clinical signs of hypogonadism, as SHBG (from 5.1 ± 0.8 in the controls to 2.4 ± 0.6 ×10−8 Mol/l in the very obese patients of group III) and the protein-bound fraction of testosterone also decrease. As a result the concentration of free testosterone remains constant (120 pg/ml), except in the very obese (93 pg/ml). Because of the different affinity of the binding proteins for testosterone and oestradiol the ratio of free oestradiol: free testosterone shifts less strongly in favour of the feminizing hormone (11.1 × 10−3 in group III as compared to 4.1 × 10−3 in the controls), than is suggested by the total hormone concentrations. A disturbance in the gonadal function of the pituitary gland or the testes is not present, since the concentration of LH is normal and the testicular response to HCG in very obese patients adequate (increase of testosterone by a factor of 3.11 as compared to 2.23 in the controls). The cause of the decrease in testosterone and SHBG is unknown, while the increase of plasma oestrogens is likely to be due to the increased conversion of androgens to oestrogens in the adipose tissue, which clearly plays an important role for plasma concentrations of sex hormones in obese patients.

The present study aimed to investigate the ameliorative effects of fenugreek seeds and curcumin on hematotoxicity induced by nicotine in male albino rats. 30 male F-344/NHsd Fischer rats, weighing from 180 to 200g were used in the present study. The animals were divided into five groups (6 rats for each); Group I (control group), Group II (nicotine treated group), Group III (nicotine/fenugreek seeds co-administered), Group IV (nicotine/curcumin co-administered), and Group V (nicotine/curcumin& fenugreek seeds co-administered). At the end of the experimentation and 24 hours after the last dose, all animals were anaesthetized with ether and blood samples were collected by heart puncture. The samples were collected in clean dry tubes containing the anticoagulant substance EDTA and used for the hematological studies. The results showed that the animals treated with nicotine for 4 weeks showed a significant decrease in RBCs count, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit value, MCH, MCHC, and platelets count, and increased MCV and WBCs count as compared to the control group. Co-administration of nicotine with fenugreek and/or curcumin caused improvement in all hematological parameters when compared with nicotine group. It can be concluded that nicotine had a strong effect on the hematological parameters. The ingestion of fenugreek and/or curcumin prevent the hematoxicity induced by nicotine. The current study suggests that fenugreek and curcumin may be useful in combating free radical-induced hematotoxicity induced by nicotine.

Introduction. Nutrition has a great effect on the quality of life and longevity. Modern food industry pays much attention to the issue of obtaining high-quality and safe livestock products grown without feed antibiotics. The research objective was to study the effect of chamomile extract on a complex of economically useful traits of young rabbits and the qualitative characteristics of meat, as well as to determine the optimal dosage of chamomile extract. Study objects and methods. The experimental research was carried out on the animal farm of the Kuzbass State Agricultural Academy in 2018. Five experimental groups and one control group of young Californian rabbits were formed according to the principle of analogue pairs. Each group included 10 rabbits. From 70-day age, the animals of the experimental group I were supplemented with a phytobiotic feed additive based on wild chamomile extract at a dose of 0.5 g per rabbit per day. In experimental group II, each rabbit received 1 g per day; in experimental group III, it was 1.5 g per rabbit per day; in experimental group IV – 2.0 g per rabbit per day; in experimental group V – 2.5 g per head per day. The experiment lasted 30 days. Results and discussion. The best result was achieved in experimental group II. In the experimental groups, the rabbits demonstrated an increase in hemoglobin. The use of phytobiotic feed additives in the diet did not cause any pathological changes in internal organs. The average live weight at the end of the experiment, compared with the control group, was higher: experimental group I – by 0.82%, experimental group II – by 6.96%, experimental group III – by 5.01%, experimental group IV – by 3.73%, experimental group V – by 2.80% (P ˃ 0.01). An analysis of the chemical composition of rabbit meat after the experiment showed that the water content in the rabbit meat ranged from 76 to 77%, which suggests high water-holding properties. The high dietary qualities of the rabbit meat depended on the content of protein (20–22 wt%) and the low fat content (5–7%). These data make it possible to promote rabbit meat for dietary products. Conclusion. According to the slaughter indicators and the phytobiotic feed additives parameters of meat, the optimal dose of phytobiotic feed additives is 1 g per head per day.

The aim of the work was comparative study of the effect of various amounts of tryptophan in the diet of the herds geese on changes in the parameters of protein metabolism in the blood, their eggs laying capacity and the incubation quality of the eggs, as well as the elimination of herbs and their preservation. The research was carried out during the 4-month reproductive period (December-March) on the gray Obroshino breed group of geese in the research enterprise (SE). The experimental farm (Myklashiv) of the Myklashiv Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian region of NAAS (Myklashiv village, Pustomytiv district, Lviv region). For this purpose, 4 groups of geese-analogues by age and live weight were selected. The control group did not receive synthetic tryptophan supplements for feed additives. The level of this amino acid in this group amounted to 0.16 g per 100 g of mixed fodder. To the diet of the geese of 2-, 3-, 4-th experimental group additionally injected, respectively, 0.04; 0.09 and 0.14 grams of synthetic tryptophan per 100 g of mixed fodder. The conducted studies have shown that increasing the level of tryptophan in mixed fodders of geese with respect to the norms in force in Ukraine from 0.16 to 0.25 g due to its synthetic analogue per 100 g of mixed fodder during the oviposition period increases the hemoglobin level in the blood by 0.6 g %, white blood cells – by 10.2%, ammonium nitrogen – by 10.5%, stimulates fertility and improves the quality of incubation eggs. While analyzing productivity indices of geese, it should be noted that they were the highest in the 3rd experimental group receiving an additive of 0.09 grams of synthetic tryptophan per 100 grams of mixed fodder. The isolation of the caterpillars was the highest in the 3rd group and amounted to 79.3%. An important indicator, as the egg mass was the largest in the 3rd experimental group and was 172.7 grams or 3.1 g more than in the 1st control geese group. The analysis, namely width and length, shows that the most optimal egg shape index was found in the 3rd experimental group (1.8% higher than in the control group). The thickness of the shell of eggs in the experimental and control groups did not change significantly. It has been experimentally proved that the optimization of tryptophan levels in the feed grain of the gray Obroshin genera of geese in the reproductive period has a significant effect on the hematological parameters and the incubation quality of the eggs.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Bendamin on the antioxidant status of rats in experimental doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy. The studies were performed on white sexually mature young male of Vistar line rats weighing 180–200 g, which were kept on a standard diet of the Institute Vivarium of the State Research Institute of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Additives. Animals were divided into 3 groups of 6 animals in each: control group – intact animals; experimental group R1, in which animals were simulated with doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy by intraperitoneal administration of doxorubicin at a dose of 2.5 mg/kg 3 times a week for two weeks; experimental group R2, in which animals were injected with the drug “Bendamin” at a dose of 20 mg/kg after injection of doxorubicin. The data obtained indicate that the introduction into the experimental animals of the experimental group of doxorubicin is accompanied by intensification in the myocardium of the processes of free radical oxidation. The increase in diene conjugates was found to be 32.7% and TBK-active products increased by 37.6% compared to the control group of rats. Doxorubicin was also found to cause inhibition of the glutathione system of the animal's antioxidant protection after administration to rats. After administration of the drug “Bendamin”, rats of the second experimental group were suppressed with lipid peroxidation under the conditions of doxorubicin intoxication. In the rats of the second experimental group, the level of intermediates and end products is likely to decrease, so in the rat myocardial homogenate the level of diene conjugates decreased by 16.8% and the level of TBA-active products by 20.8% compared to the first experimental group. who had clinical signs of cardiomyopathy caused by doxorubicin administration. The use of the drug “Bendamin” in rats of the second experimental group contributed to the enhancement of the enzymatic and non-enzymatic element of the antioxidant system, protecting the structural and functional integrity of cell bioembranes. The results of the studies enrich the pharmacological characteristics of the drug “Bendamin”, indicate its sufficiently clear protective effect on the myocardium in experimental doxorubicin cardiomyopathy and is a convincing proof of the feasibility of the drug in veterinary practice.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective role of methanolic leaf extract ofOcimum basilicumL. against benzene-induced hematotoxicity in Swiss albino mice. GC analysis and subacute toxicity level of the extract were tested. Mice were randomly divided into three groups among which II and III were exposed to benzene vapour at a dose 300 ppm × 6 hr/day × 5 days/week for 2 weeks and group I was control. Group III of this experiment was treated with the leaf methanolic extract at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight, a dose in nontoxic range. Hematological parameters (Hb%, RBC and WBC counts), cell cycle regulatory proteins expression and DNA fragmentation analysis of bone marrow cells was performed. There was an upregulation of p53 and p21 and downregulation of levels of CDK2, CDK4, CDK6, and cyclins D1 and E in leaf extract-treated group. DNA was less fragmented in group III compared to group II (P<0.05). The present study indicates that the secondary metabolites ofO. basilicumL. methanolic leaf extract, comprising essential oil monoterpene geraniol and its oxidized form citral as major constituents, have modulatory effect in cell cycle deregulation and hematological abnormalities induced by benzene in mice.
