ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to find the change in knowledge regarding disaster management among nurses after educational intervention.MethodsOne group pretest and post test design was adopted for the study. The study was carried out in B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal. Forty Nurses were selected from emergency, orthopedics, medicine, and surgical ward by using non-probability convenience sampling technique. A self-administered semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Data was collected before and after the educational intervention. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Chi-square and Z test) were used to identify the difference in knowledge between pre-test and post-test, at 0.05 level of significance.ResultsStudy findings revealed that in the pre-test, grand mean of the means of the nurses' knowledge on different aspects of disaster management as a whole was 2.39 with the standard deviation of 0.87. Similarly the grand mean of means of knowledge on different aspects of disaster management was 3.2 with the standard deviation of 0.47 in the post-test. The difference between pre-test and post-test in respondents' knowledge in different aspects of disaster management as a whole was calculated by using “Z” test (p < 0.05) The result showed that the educational intervention was effective in bringing changes in knowledge in all aspects of disaster management.ConclusionsStudy findings revealed that there was significant increase in knowledge in the post-test after the educational intervention. Therefore, it can be concluded that education plays an important role in increasing awareness. It is recommended that awareness programs on disaster management should be carried out periodically as in-service education.

Hypertension is the main cause of stroke which brings high mortality. The cause of hypertension consists of genetic and environmental factors, Along with the changing lifestyle of hypertension cases continues to increase. According to the WHO International Hypertension Society there are currently 600 million sufferers worldwide, and 3 million of them die each year. Based on the results of interviews with hypertension patients who visited the Tanjung Paku Puskesmas among the elderly, said if their high blood pressure always went to the Puskesmas and took hypertension medication, but still rarely did non-pharmacological treatment, so far it was more likely if there were complaints such as headaches, shoulders feels heavy then go straight to the health center. This type of research in this study is a pre-experimental design "One Pre-Test-Post Test Design" in this study the group of subjects was measured blood pressure before deep breathing techniques (pre-test), then carried out deep breating (intervention) and measured again pressure blood after deep breating technique (post test). From the statistical test there was a significant difference between systole blood pressure before and after the deep breathing technique with a p value of 0,000 ˃ 0.05. It is expected that health workers can provide more optimal information, especially for patients with hypertension both mild, mild, moderate and severe to help hypertension sufferers in lowering blood pressure in a non-pharmacological manner.

Background: Labor and birth are physiological processes of women. Although it is natural for women, but in general, the process is accompanied by severe pain and sometimes even lead to life-threatening. Childbirth pain is a problem that receives proper attention from nurses. Many alternative and complementary methods besides the use of drugs, can be applied to reduce pain. The methods applied include a holistic approach to ear massage, deep breathing relaxation, and guided imagery. Research method: This research is a quasi experiment. The research design used in this study is the "pre test and post test group design experiment" research by collecting data twice, namely before and after treatment. Results: From the analysis results obtained p value<0.05 indicating the three variables give the effect of the difference in pain between before and after the intervention. The difference in mean between the three interventions, ear massage and guide imagery have the same effect of reducing pain scale. However, if observed from the large value, imagery guide is the most effective in reducing labour pain. This is because the guide imagery can minimise labor pain by up to 12 times, while ear massage reduces labor pain by up to 10 times and breathing relaxation in reducing labor pain by up to 8 times. Conclusion: There is an effect of ear massage, deep breathing relaxation and guide imagery in reducing labor pain. Keywords: ear massage, deep breathing relaxation, and guide imagery, labor pain
