ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to find the change in knowledge regarding disaster management among nurses after educational intervention.MethodsOne group pretest and post test design was adopted for the study. The study was carried out in B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal. Forty Nurses were selected from emergency, orthopedics, medicine, and surgical ward by using non-probability convenience sampling technique. A self-administered semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Data was collected before and after the educational intervention. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Chi-square and Z test) were used to identify the difference in knowledge between pre-test and post-test, at 0.05 level of significance.ResultsStudy findings revealed that in the pre-test, grand mean of the means of the nurses' knowledge on different aspects of disaster management as a whole was 2.39 with the standard deviation of 0.87. Similarly the grand mean of means of knowledge on different aspects of disaster management was 3.2 with the standard deviation of 0.47 in the post-test. The difference between pre-test and post-test in respondents' knowledge in different aspects of disaster management as a whole was calculated by using “Z” test (p < 0.05) The result showed that the educational intervention was effective in bringing changes in knowledge in all aspects of disaster management.ConclusionsStudy findings revealed that there was significant increase in knowledge in the post-test after the educational intervention. Therefore, it can be concluded that education plays an important role in increasing awareness. It is recommended that awareness programs on disaster management should be carried out periodically as in-service education.

They were selected by random sampling technique. Medico-Psychological questionnaire for general neuroticism was administered to find out the extent of depression before and after psychotherapy. To find the difference between the age and depression before and after psychotherapy Carl Pearson’s Correlation coefficient method was carried out. Results: The results reveal that a non-significant difference between age groups with extent of depression in different age group of early senescent before and after psychotherapy (Chi-square=1.7913, p>0.05) at the 5 % level of significance and (Chi-square=2.4485, p>0.05) at the 5 % level of significance respectively. Further the Comparison of extent of depression before and after psychotherapy in 50-55, 56-60 age groups and as a total by Wilcoxon matched pairs test has been administered and the result reveals that significant differences between extent of depression before and after psychotherapy in 50-55yrs of age group (Z=2.5205, p<0.05) at the 5 % level of significance, 56-60yrs of age group (Z=2.2014, p<0.05) at the 5 % level of significance. It means that, the significant means that, the significance of 15.7%, 10.5%depression was decreased before and after psychotherapy respectively. A significant difference was observed between extent of depression before and after psychotherapy in 50-60yrs of age group (Z=3. 2958, p<0.05) at the 5 % level of significance. It means that, the significance of 13.0% depression was decreased after psychotherapy. Conclusion: The implication of this study was to develop insight and understanding among the clinicians that importance psychotherapy as treatment of depression.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.15(1) 2016 p.118-122

This research aimed to analyze the effect of the Discrete Trial Training (DTT) method to increase the vocabulary of speech in children with Mental Retardation in SLB YAAT Surakarta. This research uses experimental design of an activity to experiment aimed to determine the effect of the treatment that given using design of pre and post test only design, which will be held in SLB YAAT Surakarta, with the sampling technique used purposive sampling technique is determined by considering the purpose of research based on criteria which decided. The instrument which is used in this study were (collecting data) using instrument Assessment of Children's Language Comprehension (ACLC). From the test results of the data analysis by paired sample t-test on the variable of vocabulary in the pre-test and post-test had mean (average) and standard deviation of 0.20068-145 while the p-value (sig.) = 0.000> 0.05, in the two critical elements of variables or two important elements in the pre-test and post-test had a mean (average) and standard deviation of 9.71431 -22.33 while the p-value (sig.) = 0.000> 0.05. In the three critical elements of variables or three important elements in the pre-test and post-test had a mean (average) and standard deviation -17.00 16.43168 whereas the p-value (sig.) = 0.000> 0.05. While in the four critical elements of variables or four important elements of the pre-test and post test had a mean (average) and standard deviation 12.33 14.06471 whereas the p-value (sig.) = 0.000> 0.05. This shows that all the variables in this study showed that there is a significant effect of increasing their vocabulary and speech in children with mental retardation before and after exercise using DTT in SLB YAAT Surakarta.

The researcher used a quasi-experimental research design, the population in this research is class VIII Mts Alkahirat Alindau which consists of two classes, they are class 8A and 8B. In this research, class 8B as the Experimental Group by usinga purposive sampling technique. In the experimental class, the researcher gave a pre-test, treatment (choral reading), and post-test, while for the control class, only pretest and post-test without treatment. The researcher collected data through a reading test. From the calculation of the data it showed that the difference in students' scores on the pre-test and posttest with an average post-test score was higher than the average of pre-test score (67.06>30.26). This can be seen from the results obtained before and after the treatment, the score on post-test of experimental class was higher than the score on the pos-test of control group (67.0>51.2). In addition, the result showed that the t-counted was higher than the t-table (52.94>2084. Based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that the used of Choral Reading technique was affects the pronunciation of the 8th grade students of MTs Alkharat Alinda.

Background: The routine method of measuring blood pressure (BP) is subject to numerous pitfalls. We evaluated the impact of a guidelines-based educational intervention on improvement of BP determination by fourth-year Iranian medical students. Methods: Using a consecutive sampling technique, 103 fourth-year medical students were recruited during their rotation in the Department of Community and Family Medicine at the Tabriz Medical School at the Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. All students attended a 3-hour training class covering accurate BP measurement. Using a valid checklist, sixteen elements of BP measurement skills were assessed among students before and after two weeks of training. McNemar’s test, paired-sample t tests and Pearson’s chi-square test were used to compare the data before and after training using SPSS version 23. Results: The study showed that before the training class most of the elements of BP measurement skills were not performed by most of the students, and 9 of 16 BP measurement skills were only performed by <20% of the students. Following the training class, however, 14 of 16 BP measurement skills were performed by >70% of the students. Before training, mean/SD of correctly-performed-skills out of 16 skills was 4.76/2.03. After training, the mean/SD was 13.99/5.19 (P < 0.001). Conclusion: This study showed a significant improvement in medical students’ BP measurement skills after a 3-hour course of training. Thus, it appears that periodic training sessions of accurate BP measurement for medical students may be of great benefit and equal importance in medical schools.
