Purpose – Although there is a growing interest in Critical Thinking Learning Transfer (CTLT), previous studies have presented less detailed information regarding the transfer. Besides, a few pieces of literature have been focusing on medical contexts. In Malaysia, there are small number of reviews regarding the concept compared to other countries. This issue raises the question: How do the medical undergraduates in Malaysia transfer their critical thinking learning? Thus, the authors sought to explore CTLT process among medical undergraduates in Malaysia. Then, the authors synthesized the CTLT model which presented the types of CTLT. Methodology – This study adopted a qualitative case study approach. Eight medical undergraduates in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia were selected using two sampling strategies under the purposive sampling. Data obtained using in-depth interviews. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. Findings – The findings showed three types of CTLT, namely near transfer, far transfer, and integrated transfer. Each types of the transfer were specified into components. In summary, the medical undergraduates’ conceptions on the CTLT process led to the development of a model. The model presented the types of CTLT that provide a better understanding about the extension of occurrence of CTLT among the medical undergraduates. Significance – The CTLT model presented extra value to the description of the CTLT process. This model led to a better understanding of the extension of critical thinking learning transfer occurrence among students especially in the context of early clinical year medical programme. Besides, the model may influence the future development of critical thinking pedagogies. The study aimed to develop critical thinking transfer practice (CTTP) construct and sub-constructs relevant to medical undergraduates. The study used a 9-step qualitative case study approach. The prior relationship of construct and sub-constructs were conceptualised to produce the initial thematic framework (Step 1 to 3). Then, a qualitative study confirmed the sub-constructs that were relevant for the undergraduates, as the new data were fitted into the initial framework to become an evolving framework (Step 4 to 5). Next, the construct and sub-constructs were defined operationally (Step 6) and evaluated (Step 7). After that, the evolving framework was revised (Step 8) and developed to become the final construct and sub-constructs (Step 9). Based on the literature, the study conceptualised an initial framework that described the theoretical relationship of the prior construct and six sub-constructs. From the qualitative findings, 37 codes were fitted into the initial framework. The fitting resulted in an evolving framework that contained a theme (the medical undergraduates’ CTTP), 6 categories and 26 sub-categories. A 100% of participants agreed that the data were generated from them. Then, the team members and the expert panels accepted the theme (Cohen Kappa value > 0.80). The maintained and revised theme, categories and sub-categories were used to develop the CTTP construct and 6 sub-constructs. The study discussed in detail the included subconstructs for CTTP. The study also addressed the similarities and differences of the construct and sub-constructs for medical education and general studies. The study concluded that the construct and sub-constructs were theoretically proven to represent the medical undergraduates’ CTTP.

This study explored the youth participation process in the agriculture empowerment program towards achieving the dimensions of empowerment. A qualitative case study approach was adopted using the Youth Integrated Training Farm, Malete, Kwara State Nigeria as a case. Thirty informants were purposively sampled and for the study. Multiple methods of data collection were employed namely in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussion, field observation, and documents analysis. The findings revealed that nine steps are involved in the youth participation process. These steps were identified and themed into three groups; Planning, organization, and implementation. The participation process also achieved youth empowerment in economic, social and psychological dimensions. The result of the findings further revealed that despite the empowerment dimensions that were achieved, the vision of the program was not met due to some salient factors relating to the inability of the state government to record success in the last step of the participation process, which is the empowerment incentives.

The aims of this study is to find out the understanding DPR members agains gender mainstreaming in DPRD Medan. This study uses a qualitative case study approach. After in-depth interviews with 5 Members of the DPRD Medan, the researcher can conclude that: 1. Members DPRD Medan do not yet understand the term gender mainstreaming in development. 2. Members DPRD Medan have not provided full support for the acceleration of the development of women's empowerment and child protection. These two things are seen from the lack of DPRD initiative rights in the drafting of a specific Regional Regulation on the Protection of Women and Children in the City of Medan. 3. Between the Legislature and the Executive does not have an understanding of the protection of women and children, the executive should propose a draft regulation on the protection of women and children to be endorsed as a regional regulation.

Use of information systems can effectively improve the performance of employees. The research is a qualitative case study approach in Purwokerto Gramedia ELTI by conducting in-depth interviews to 6 employees. The quality of information systems and services to operationalize the system makes employees work more produktift, effective and efficient.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasikan dan mengetahui secara lebih mendalam alasan-alasan pelaku bullying melakukan bullying dan juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran empati pelaku bullying di Sekolah Menengah Atas.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif  dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini berjumlah dua orang yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling dan tekhnik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah menggunakan observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa alasan pelaku bullying melakukan perbuatan bullying yaitu dikarenakan faktor karakteristik korban, sikap korban, tradisi/budaya bullying di sekolah. Pelaku bullying melakukan bullying juga dikarenakan memiliki kemampuan empati yang rendah. Ketidakmampuan pelaku untuk berempati menyebabkan mereka kurang mampu untuk melihat dari sudut pandang orang lain, mengenali perasaan orang lain dan menyesuaikan kepeduliannya dengan tepat. Kurangnya empati dari pelaku menyebabkan pelaku kurang memahami kondisi korban, tidak peduli dengan korban dan cenderung melakukan tindakan kekerasan kepada orang atau korban. Keywords: empati, pelaku bullying, siswa Sekolah Menengah AtasThis study aimed at identifying and understanding more deeply the reasons doing the bullying and to describe empathy bullies in high school. This research is a qualitative case study approach. Subjects involved in this study is two people chosen by purposive sampling technique and the data were collected using the techniques of observations and in-depth interviews. Based on the research results know that the reasons bullies bullying act because characteristic factor of the victim, the victim attitude, and tradition/culture of bullying at school. the bullies have a low capacity for empathy. Inability the bullies to empathize cause them less able to see the persfective of others, recognize the feelings of others and adjust to the proper concern. Lack of empathy the bullies bringing not understanding of the condition of the victim, no matter the victim and tend to commit acts of violence to the person  or the victim. Self-stigma experienced by people who experience schizophrenia has influence on reduced self-esteem, on powerlessness, the weakening of hope, and a motivation towards recovery. The aim of this study is to explain the efforts of people suffering schizophrenia to manage their self-stigma through self-control, using a case study approach. Based on the purposive sampling technique, five people with schizophrenia were selected as the cases to be studied. Data collection techniques utilized in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary studies. The analysis of the study data employed the stages of data reduction, data display, and data verification. Improvement in study quality employed the triangulation of data sources by checking the data to determine its consistency. The results of this study indicate that people with schizophrenia who have the ability to self-control can overcome self-stigma through changes in the manner of viewing themselves, self-training through activities, having endurance, having an honest approach, being able to explain schizophrenia from a positive viewpoint, having initiative, and having a positive attitude and the courage to face challenges.

COVID-19 and the shift to online teaching necessitated a change in approach for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teachers in preparing their students for university studies. This study explored how EAP instructors coped with and adapted their provision for emergency remote teaching. The study was conducted at an English-medium university in Hong Kong and a qualitative case study approach was adopted. The results revealed two overarching themes of opportunity and challenge. While the sudden shift to online teaching forced innovation and fostered collaborative learning and feedback, teachers experienced difficulties in communicating with students and monitoring their learning. The study voices teacher perspectives in delivering EAP courses online and highlights important implications for the successful delivery of future online EAP provisions.

This article identified network characteristics critical for successful agricutural innovations within networks, or a set of interrelated organizations aiming at knowledge exchange for innovations. To explore key success factors, the research questioned how networks cope with innovation characteristics and combined network characteristics with four innovation characteristics in four agricultural sub-sectors. Data were collected from in-depth interviews with farmers and network coordinators and from focus group discussions with farmers active in Flanders, the northern part of Belgium. Factors particularly helpful for success in agricultural innovation networks include numerous contacts, integration of knowledge providers in the network structure, face-to-face communication, a self-initiated coalition and surpassing innovation beyond the mere agricultural level, through collaboration with people from outside the sector. The findings are useful for academics, network coordinators and network members, possibly leading to a higher innovation performance via networking.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to appraise the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of their role in tackling systemic corruptions and to associate how institutional and organizational factors influence the performance of the EFCC. Design/methodology/approach Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observations and documentary analysis. Findings The results of the integrative analysis show that the EFCC has apparently been ineffective, and further improvization of the organization is needed. Poor performance of the EFCC was associated with factors such as lack of commitment, inefficient judiciary, insufficient budgets and incompetent personnel. Practical implications This study recommends further improvements in the form of a greater political will, improved legal process and also elevated budgetary funds and recruitment of personnel to the EFCC. Originality/value The study adopted a descriptive, qualitative case study approach to describe the current state of the EFCC in Nigeria.

This study used a case-study approach to develop an understanding of how social-media strategy is developed and deployed in Big Ten Conference athletic departments and to explore the issues associated with it. Based on in-depth interviews with department officials, the following 6 themes emerged: connecting with target audiences, varied approaches in coordination of postings, athletic communications as content gatekeepers, desire to incorporate sponsors and generate revenue, focusing on building fan loyalty through engagement, and challenges of negativity and metrics. The social-media strategy in Big Ten Conference athletic departments appears to be driven by athletic communications/sports information departments as opposed to marketing departments. The greatest benefit of social media has been the ease of engagement and instantaneous connection between fans and the teams they love, which can lead to building greater loyalty to a team. Some of the challenges departments face include having to deal with the reality of crises and negative attention around programs more quickly than with traditional media and to measure social-media success accurately.
