Cases of low birth weight (LBW) are at risk of increasing mortality and morbidity, it is necessary to identify identification of LBW incidence factors. This study analyzed the risk factors for LBW events. This research is a study consisting of two groups and case control designed with a case study design. The population is mothers who have been collected with a sample of 54 respondents divided into two case groups and a control group. Sampling in the study group with a simple random sampling technique and in the control group took samples that matched the age group so that they obtained the same number of samples between the case group and the control group. Variables published were age at pregnancy, parity, diet  and disease history, analysis of data using Odd Ratio and multivariate logistic regression (a = 0.05).Factors associated with low birth weight during pregnancy were age (p = 0.013), parity (p = 0.002), diet (p = 0.001) and disease history (p = 0.000). The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the age during pregnancy was a risk factor for LBW and the most influential factor (OR = 13,311; 95% CI 1,753-101,080). age (<20 and> 35 years) has a risk of 13 times giving birth to babies with low births compared to mothers aged 20-35 years. It is expected that the mother avoids the risk of pregnancy at age (<20 years and> 35 years) and the dissemination of related health workers about risky pregnancies to reduce the risk of LBW. Keywords : Age; parity;diet; history of disease; LBW.

ABSTRACT             Asphyxia is breathing difficulty that occurs in newborns. Low birth weight (LBW) neonates often suffer from asphyxia, this are due to surfactant deficiency, incomplete lung growth, weak respiratory muscles, and easily bent ribs, therefore it can not supply oxygen enough of the placenta. Data from Arifin Achmad Hospital showed that the number of neonatal asphyxia includes 15 largest disease as the cause of infant mortality. In 2014 from January to September there were 36 cases of asphyxia of 955 newborns (3.76%). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between LBW and asphyxia neonatorum at Arifin Achmad Hospital Riau Province in 2014. This research method used quantitative analytical research and the design was case control. This research was conducted at Arifin Achmad Hospital Riau Province on March 3 until May 3 2015. The population in this study was all newborn babies who born at Arifin Achmad Hospital and samples were 72 respondents which consisted of 36 cases and 36 control. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. Data collection used secondary data by using a checklist sheet, data was processed by computer and data analysis used univariate and bivariate. The results from the chi square test showed that there was a relationship between LBW and asphyxia indicated by p value = 0.002 <0.05. It is expected that health professionals can provide information about the factors related to asphyxia as low birth weight, risk factor of maternal nutritional status to the mother and fetus. In addition, to health workers are also expected to provide information to pregnant women about how to prevent LBW and asphyxia by providing brochures, leaflets and others.

Background: Low birth weigth babies (LBW) are most likely a cause of the infant mortality and morbidity. Many factors causes LBW babies as maternal health, behavior during pregnancy, environmental  as well as fetal and placental factors. Negative behavior during pregnancy such as exposure of cigarette smoke can affect the body’s supply of oxygen from mother to fetus and placenta. Exposure to cigarette smoke may also reduce maternal folic acid level which causes disruption of fetal growth inside the womb. Objective: This study was aimed to fnd out the risk of low birth weight baby in the passive smoker pregnant woman.Method: The study used a case control design. The subject consisted of mothers who delivered at RSU dr. Zainoel Abidin in Banda Aceh municipality. The case group were mothers who delivered babies of less than 2,500 grams and the control group were those who delivered babies of 2,500 grams or more. Each group consisted of 105 mothers (1:1). Sample were taken using non probability with consecutive sampling method. Data analysis used univariable method with frequency distribution, bivariable with chi square and multivariable with logistic regression. Results: Passive smoker pregnant woman exposed the 1-10 cigarettes a day had risk 2,4 times greater of getting low birth weight baby (OR=2,42; 95%CI 1,24-4,71). Pregnant mother exposed to ≥11 cigarettes a day had the risk 3,1 times greates in having LBW infants than those not exposed (OR=3,1; 95%CI 1,50-6,70).Conclusion: Passive smoker of pregnant mother increased the risk of low birth weight babies.

Low birth weight babies are babies born with a weight less than 2500 grams. LBW (low birth weight) affects the high mortality rate in infants and is at risk of experiencing obstacles in growth and development. LBW is generally caused due to lack of nutrition and nutritional needs from mother to fetus while pregnant women aged less than 20 years and more than 35 years have the risk of giving birth to LBW. The purpose of this study is to determine the risk factors that cause LBW based on maternal age and nutritional status. The research method used was observational with a cross sectional study approach. The sampling technique was random sampling at the Regional Haji Makassar General Hospital in the January to July 2015 period with a total sample of 65 people. Analysis using the Chi Square Test. The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal age, nutritional status of LBW with a value (p value = 0.00 <α = 0.05). Maternal age and nutritional status are factors that influence low birth weight where the results of the study indicate that there is a relationship between maternal age and nutritional status on the incidence of low birth weight. To reduce the incidence of low birth weight, it is necessary to increase counseling about the causes of low birth weight babies by health workers, especially midwives to pregnant women to prevent the risk of low birth weight birth.

One of the causes of high maternal mortality is delivery assistance provided by other than health workers or traditional healers. The way to reduce the bondage relationship is to increase the motivation of cadres to refer mothers to health workers. The DABA method is a modification or development of the SALT method (support, appreciate, learn, and transfer), is a method or technique for forming something, showing that a community has the ability to respond to every challenge including childbirth assistance. The maternal mortality rate is still high, the Inter-Census Population Survey data released by the Central Statistics Agency shows that there were 359 maternal deaths per 100,000 births in 2013. The purpose of this study was to analyze the motivation of cadres by empowering the DABA method for referral for delivery assistance by health workers in Jember Regency. Motivation is the reason that underlies an action done by an individual. The method used was quasi-experimental using 2 groups. This study used the non equivalent control group, pre test post test design. The population in this study were 2220 posyandu cadres in the working area of the health centers in the Jember District. The subjects of this study were 100 posyandu cadres in Jember district in 2019 who met the criteria. The sampling technique was carried out by simple random sampling by selecting from a list of names of cadres in each health center. There was differences (p-value = 0.021) of cadre motivation between treatment and control group. The cadre motivation of intervention group was higher than the control group for referral labor. Having high motivation means having very strong reasons to achieve what he wants by doing his current job. The cadre motivation of treatment group increased significantly, this happened because cadres trained through the DABA method were invited to achieve the dreams they had built, namely to reduce maternal and infant mortality. Training using the DABA method is able to increase the motivation of cadres to make a referral to mothers to give birth at a health service place, so training with the DABA method is highly recommended to increase motivation for certain groups to achieve certain goals. Based on a preliminary study, there were 18.31% who had a breech delivery, it would result in complications in the baby such as asphyxia, bleeding or soft tissue edema, damage to the medulla oblongata, damage to the cervical spine joints, and even death due to severe asphyxia. determine the effect of Prenatal Yoga on Changes in Fetal Position in Pregnant Women. This type of observational research uses a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-pest with control group design. The research was conducted in the city of Kediri. The sample in this study was 32, namely third trimester pregnant women with gestational age > 28 weeks who experienced breech, latitude, and obligate fetal positions which were divided into 2 groups of 16 intervention groups (Prenatal Yoga) and 16 people as controls (pregnancy exercise). The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. Bivariate analysis using Mann Whitney Test. The results obtained are Z = -2.626 and -value 0.009 <0.05 so that Ho is rejected and it can be concluded that there is an effect of Prenatal Yoga on Changes in Fetal Position in Pregnant Women in Kediri City. Yoga exercises to help change the position of the fetus are more focused on providing a wide space in the abdomen, flexing the muscles of the uterus and pelvis. Three movements were used in this study, namely cat cow, downward-facing dog and puffy pose. Suggestions for health workers that prenatal yoga can be a solution and can be applied to help change the position of the fetus from malpresentation to head position.
