Islam prohibits human beings from destructing the environment which can provide detrimental effects on their lives and other creatures. The primary sources of Islamic teachings are Al Qur’an and Al Hadist as well as ijtihad (Fiqh). Fiqh as an Islamic jurisprudence is applied based on the development of the community in the context which derives from the authentic dalils from Islamic sources. In the Fiqh, so-called Fiqh Siyasah, the government plays a vital role in designing policy to align with and capitalize on environmental sustainability. So does Fiqh of the environment. It describes how Islam governs environmental management, so that it can be maintained and preserved from the destruction which can be harmful to human beings and other creatures in this world. This article aims to elaborate some Islamic principles concerning the guidance of environmental management issues which have to be followed by human beings to preserve their dignity and integrity as well as to protect nature and other creatures as a sign that they are indeed the best creation of all.

Engineers have a vital role in addressing environmental degradation in construction projects. Therefore, engineers’ positive attitude towards the environment is important to ensure that construction projects are carried out responsibly. The objective of this paper is to investigate the factors that influence engineers’ attitude towards green practice. Six factors; Knowledge, Self-initiative, Firm Support, Government Support, Board of Engineers Support and Client Attributes were assumed to influence the engineers’ attitude towards green practice. A self-administered survey with 37 items was distributed to engineering firms in Peninsular Malaysia and 128 usable responses were received. The results show a moderate relationship with 32 percent of the variances in the relationship between the six factors and engineers’ attitude. The results reveal that self-initiative and government support have a significant and positive impact on the engineers’ attitude towards green practice with the higher effect coming from the support from the government (f2 = 0.210) as compared to self-initiative (f2 = 0.058). In contrast, the results provide insufficient evidence about the relationship between Knowledge, Firm Support, Board of engineers Support and Client Attributes and engineers’ attitude towards green practice. The results serve as a guide to the policy makers and engineers to ensure responsible attitude can be adopted towards the environment.

As a regional income barn, the Nusa Penida Tourism Area needs to be managed comprehensively by involving all available resources, by encouraging new thinking about managing tourism that synergizes with environmental sustainability in the sustainable environment of the Nusa Penida Tourism Area. Tourism can increase economic growth but create a burden on the environment, so that Nusa Penida tourism becomes environmentally friendly tourism to support the development of green tourism. Progress in tourism impacts the environment, causes social and cultural changes in society and impacts the carrying capacity of land and water from the massive tourism development in Nusa Penida. For this reason, it is necessary to formulate a model of environmental management that is relevant and has been developed. This study uses a systems approach with the Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) method to formulate an environmental management model in the Nusa Penida Tourism Area. This method can be used to help a group, in identifying contextual relationships between sub elements of each element that forms a system based on ideas / structures or determinants in a complex problem (Saxena, 1992).The environmental management model in the Nusa Penida was formed based on government initiatives by involving all stakeholders as representatives of the Nusa Penida community and involving other elements such as non-government organizations and universities. In the management of the environment, institutional arrangements that specifically handle the environment and tourism of Nusa Penida must be formed with the government as the initiator and formed in a participatory manner. The recommended model of environmental management needs to be applied carefully and continued with the formation of institutions by involving the affected community sectors in Nusa Penida's environmental management and tourism. Keywords: tourism, model, management, environment, Nusa Penida

This original research confronted challenges to environmental management and sustainability posed by veld fires in the Bulilima and Mangwe Districts of Matabeleland in the South Province in southern Zimbabwe. Veld fires have affected the fauna and flora, polluted air and water, and destroyed livelihoods. The study aimed at establishing challenges to environmental sustainability posed by veld fires, identifying the type of environment upon which veld fires have impacted, analysing legal issues and other interventions surrounding the control of veld fires and suggesting new control measures for veld fires. A qualitative research design and quota sampling were used. The study involved 30 participants. Data was collected through a questionnaire, an interview guide and participant observation. Challenges to environmental management and sustainability posed by veld fires include property damage, reduced soil fertility, destruction of vegetation, air and water pollution and destruction of wildlife. Most veld fires are a result of human actions that emanate from the disposal of cigarettes, the burning of vegetation when preparing fields, the use of fire by hunters, smoking out bees and the making of fires by motorists along highways. The government should consider reviewing the current environmental statues. Fireguards should be wide enough to lessen veld-fire impact. Lastly, veld-fire campaigns and rehearsals should be run on a regular basis. It is hoped that this work would make a significant contribution through improving the current thinking about environmental management and sustainability, thereby benefiting policy makers, practitioners and stakeholders.

This study focuses on the vital points of women participation and empowerment system under government institution and constitution through exploring previous hypothetical strategic women empowerment model. Women's Empowerment is one of the most challenging steps in our society. They are deprived of political leadership opportunities at all levels of the government. Their equal participation in governance and all other sectors is not only a matter of participation or democracy but also it is natural that women’s interest to be taken into account as a strong issue. For the sake of the true development of a society women’s participation in every section of life is a must. And most of the countries of the world have understood the fact that by keeping half of the population idle at home, progress is not possible and at the same time women will be deprived of their human rights. As human beings, they have equal rights like men to lead a life with dignity and they have the same potentiality to do something for the betterment of this world. Environment and facilities must be increased so that women can enhance their confidence, develop their skills and personality to play a vital role in the development of society as well as a country. Their rights must be included and preserved by the constitution of a country. In Bangladesh, the constitutional safeguard can be seen as a milestone for ensuring women's equal access and increased participation in political power structure for ensuring their participation, strengthening the government as well as for the sustainable development of Bangladesh. Undoubtedly, the elected reserve seats for women by the constitutions help to promote participation and women's access to the decision-making process. Through their participation is not practically much ensured, reserve seats promote women empowerment. But it is a matter of sorrow that, due to social, political, and cultural barriers, elected women members in government institutions cannot play their effective role. This study seeks to critically evaluate the extent of women’s political participation and empowerment under government institutions and constitution from 1971-2020.

Human beings are deeply related to land. Human beings take birth on land, live on land, die on land and mixes with land ultimately. As stated in the holy Quran: ‘We (Allah) created you (human beings) from the soil, we shall make you return to the soil and We shall call you back again from the soil’ (20:55). Human life is surrounded by soil i.e. land. So, land is a highly completed issue of human life involving economic, social, political, cultural and often religious systems. Land administration is thus a critical element and often a pre-condition for peaceful society and sustainable development. In administrating land, Khatian or record of rights plays a vital role to determine the rights and interests of the respective parties as supportive evidence. In this article, discussion is mainly made on the fact that Khatian or record of rights is not a document of title solely but it may be an evidence of title as well as possession. In this study we propose the establishment of theological rules (qawāʿid iʿtiqādiyya) similar to the jurisitic rules (qawāʿid fiqhiyya) which have for centuries been very important to Islamic jurisprudence, and which play a vital role in jurisprudence and uṣūl al-fiqh. The present article takes the second sura of the Qur'an, Sūrat al-Baqara, as a case study, identifying three fundamental principles in this sura: (i) man is honoured (al-insān mukarram), (ii) the Resurrection is a reality (al-baʿth ḥaqq) (iii) belief in all prophets is obligatory (al-īmān bi-kāfat al-anbiyāʾ wājib). These three rules are emphasised and reiterated in many parts of the sura, to a greater extent than any other principle. This study calls for other scholars to consider this proposition and develop it further.

Abstract: Abdul Karim Soroush judges that religious rule is incorrect assessment of the application of Islamic jurisprudence. In a religious society, Islamic jurisprudence obtains the right to govern. It is, of course, necessary to establish a kind of Islamic jurisprudence-based religious rule. Soroush firmly rejects it because such interpretation is too narrow. As for democracy, Soroush argues that the system used is not necessarily equal to that of the Western. On the contrary, Ayatollah Khomeini’s thoughts on religious rule are reflected in the so called wilayat al-faqih. It is a religious scholar-based government. Democracy, according to him, is the values of Islam itself, which is able to represent the level of a system to bring to the country’s progress. Principally, there are some similarities between the ideas of Ayatollah Khomeini and those of Abdul Karim Soroush in term of religiosity. They assume that it is able to sustain the religious system of government. The difference between both lies on the application of religiosity itself. Ayatollah Khomeini applies the concept of a religious scholar-based government, while Abdul Karim Soroush rejects the institutionalization of religion in the government or state. Keywords: Governance, democracy, Abdul Karim Soroush, Ayatollah Khomeini
