The 2013 curriculum emphasizes learning using the scientific approach. In fact, many teachers still use conventional learning methods so that it impacts on student activity in the learning process. Moreover, the material taught is not related to concrete situations. The simulation method can be used to improve student learning outcomes in 4th grade in social science KD 4.2. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the simulation method on the ability to distinguish regions affected by the Mount Kelud eruption and to know the effect of the simulation method on the ability to demonstrate the mitigation efforts of the Mount Kelud eruption as a volcano in elementary school students in Kediri. The results of this study indicated: (1) based on the test results obtained tcount = 9.531> ttable = 2.032 with a significance level of 0.05, there were differences in the results of the average pre-test with post-test which meant that there was an influence of using the simulation method on the ability of students to distinguish regions affected by the eruption of Mount Kelud; (2) based on the test results obtained tcount = 12.063> ttable = 2.032 with a significance level of 0.05, there were differences in the results of the average non-simulation with simulation, which meant that there was an influence of using the simulation method on the ability to demonstrate mitigation efforts in eruption of the Kelud as a volcano.

[English]: One of the appropriate methods to learn multiplication is Jarimatika. It was given to elementary school students in Kefamenanu which, based on data from statistical central agency (BPS), has four colleges but there are still many students who do not have rapid counting skills. The advantage of this method is not requiring learning tools and memorization because calculations are done by utilizing the fingers so that the expected counting operation of multiplication can be more easily understood, enjoyable, and does not overload students’ memory. The purpose of this community service program was to improve the counting skills of elementary school students. It was held at SDN Neonbat Kefamenanu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) involving 60 5th-grade students. The program was carried out in two-day workshop. The first day focused on the review of students ' basic ability which includes multiplication 1-5 and continued with the introduction of quick counting techniques with Jarimatika for multiplication 6-10 and 11-15. The second day was to review the previous day and introduce the rapid counting technique for multiplication 16-20. This program did not only end with the workshop but also continued with the assistance of 20 selected students. This assistance provided a positive impact on the results students get which can be seen from the increasing average score: 55,84 in the pre-test then increased to 75 in the post-test. Keywords: fast counting; jarimatika method; multiplication; elementary school

This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the effects of a music and writing program on lexical spelling in Grade 2 elementary school students. A music and writing program was developed and tested in an experimental group ( n = 24) comprising a Grade 2 class in a French-language elementary school in Québec (Canada). Another Grade 2 class at the same school served as a control group ( n = 23). Both groups were assessed for lexical spelling in January and May. Group comparison of the post-test results on performance and progress in lexical spelling showed significantly better scores for the experimental over the control group.

The background of this research is the ability of students' reading skill carried out at Jarak III Elementary School of Wonosalam Jombang, which is less than perfect in learning. It is due to the limited knowledge of teachers in carrying out the learning system by using many kinds of learning models. Meanwhile, the learning model the teachers apply is only the lecturing and assignments model. Besides, its limitations is the lack of the existing media. This research is a qualitative research. It consists of several aspects of treatment and observations aimed at improving the eading skills through the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model for grade II at Jarak III Elementary School of Wonosalam Jombang. This research was conducted at Jarak III Elementary School of Wonosalam Jombang, which involved 17 students consisting of 8 boys and 9 girls who were registered in the 2018/2019 academic year. This study used a descriptive research design. The results showed that the first pre-test got 70.2% of the average results that did not meet the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). After the learning was carried out using the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model, the post test average score of students increased to 85.8%. This average has shown that it meets the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). The purpose of this study was to determine how online learning was implemented in elementary schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted in elementary schools in the Muara Enim District, in Sumatra Selatan, Indonesia. This was descriptive research and a qualitative approach was used. The research subjects were elementary school teachers. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that: 1) teachers were not ready in terms of planning and implementing online learning; 2) most elementary school teachers in Muara Enim District used the Whatsapp application in the process of implementing online learning; 3) online learning tended to be less effective because elementary school students still dependend on teachers and parents; 4) student learning outcomes tended to increase during online learning; this was indicated by the average score of students which was ≤ 70 before online learning and ≥ 90 after online learning. Teachers were still hesitant in reporting the assessment of student learning outcomes, because during online learning the teacher cannot supervise students’ completion of the assignments. For this reason, parent cooperation is needed for educating and guiding their children during online learning and so that teachers can determine the development of student learning outcomes at home.
