This research is about figure of speech analysis on “I am Human Too” poem by Godsplan K. Ugwuja. The purposes of this research are; 1) To describe the types of figure of speech that found on “I am Human Too” poem by Godsplan K. Ugwuja. 2) To describe how do the figure of speech convey the messages through the poem “I am Human Too” poem by Godsplan K. Ugwuja. The datum of the research is taken from words, phrases, lines or stanza of the I am Human Too poem that contain the figure of speeches. The method of this research is uses desciptive qualitative method and figure of speech theory proposed by Perrine (1992). Data are explained by find the meaning and described them based on the kinds of figure of speech through four procedure, they are: identifying, classiying, analyzing and making the conclusion from the data. The result of this research are the writer found about 9 data of figure of speech of the poem, they are; 6 data for figure of speech of hyperbole, 2 data for figure of speech of simile and 1 data for figure of speech of symbol. Hyperbole is the dominant kind of figure of speech in the poem, because hyperbole is the appropriate of figure of speech by the author to express his feeling about soldier’s lamentation. Beside, figure of speech also convey some messages through the poem, they are; 1) Informative message, it mean that we often don’t remember that our soldiers put their live on the line to protect us but we still criticize, vilify and attack them without keeping in mind that they are human too. 2) Persuasive message, it mean that let’s support them not only by good weapons but also by moral.

Research aimed to present conversations that were used mostly by subordinates (buka) to their superiors (joshi). The research applied qualitative method with interview and novel Nihon Kogyou Ginkou by Ryo Takasugi to understand the jougekankei concept in enkyokuhou figure of speech. Analysis used interpretative and descriptive method. It can be concluded that enkyokuhou has five functions. They are to emphasize claims, emphasize on demands, state indirect thought or passive request, state satire, and replace words or objects or events with another words.

This research discusses imagery, diction and figure of speech in a short story entitled “Jalan Gelap Langit Terang” written by Abdul Wachid. This short story is one of the author’s works in a short story anthology, Bacalah Cinta, published by BukuLaela in 2005. This research reveals some figure of speeches such as diction, imagery and elaboration employed by the author of the short story. This research applied both stylistic approach and descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was done by close reading observation and note taking. The result shows that the author takes the advantage of connotative, English and Indonesian diction in some sentences. The imagery employed by the author covers personification, hyperbole, metaphor, repetition, rhetoric, elypsis, and antithesis. Moreover, the author tends to show repetition and symblolism in his style.

Abstrak: Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk majas yang terdapat pada komentar warganet dalam berita “Repons Ahok Disinggung Fadli Zon: Apa Hebatnya Dia?” (https://news.detik.com). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data dianalisis dengan langkah-langkah, yaitu 1) mereduksi komentar-komentar yang tidak termasuk dalam majas apa pun; 2) mengklasifikasikan setiap komentar warganet berdasarkan jenis-jenis majas; dan 3) menginterpretasikan setiap komentar warganet berdasarkan majasnya. Berdasarkan analisis data, ditemukan 4 majas ironi, 26 majas sinisme, dan 20 majas sarkasme. Komentar-komentar tersebut ditujukan kepada Fadli Zon dan Ahok. Penggunaan majas sarkasme yang ditemukan dalam analisis ini berupa perendahan martabat, sumpah serapah, dan caci maki.Kata kunci: majas, komentar, warganet, berita Abstract: This article aims to describe the use of figure of speech contained in netizen’s comment on the news “Respons Ahok Disinggung Fadli Zon: Apa Hebatnya Dia?” (https://news.detik.com) using descriptive qualitative method. The data were analyzed in several steps, namely: 1) reducing the comments that do not belong to any kind of figure of speech; 2) classifying each of the netizen’s comment based on the figure of speech; 3) interpreting each comment based on the figure of speech. Based on the analysis, 4 ironi figure of speech; 26 figure of speech of cynicism, and 20 figure of speech of sarcasm, were found. The comments were addressed to Fadli Zon and Ahok. The purpose of using sarcasm in the comments was for 1) humiliation, 2) profanity, and 3) insult.Keywords: figure of speech, comments, netizen, news

Generally, idioms are formed with words related to the sense of taste, human body, color, numbers, growth, natural objects and animals. In this study, a Japanese idiom that is formed from neko ‘cat’ is discussed. This study is a qualitative research that aims to find out the lexical and idiomatical meaning of the idiom containing word neko and the figure of speech. The data are idioms with the word neko in 101 Japanese Idioms by Michael L. Maynard, and website (https://dictionary.goo.ne.jp). The results are that 13 idioms that use neko. Some idioms have a difference between lexical and idiomatic meaning. However, there is a link between the lexical and idiomatical meaning with the cultural and historical approach of the lexical used. Data contained in the 8 figure of speech Metaphor, namely neko mo shakushi mo (猫 も 杓 子 も), neko ni koban (猫に小判), neko no hitai (猫の額), neko ni matatabi (猫にまたたび), neko in katsuobushi (猫に鰹節), neko no kubi ni suzu o tsukeru (猫の首に鈴を付ける), neko no ko ippiki inai (猫の子一匹いない), neko o koroseba shichidai tataru (猫を殺せば七代祟る. Then 5 figure of speech are included in metonymy, namely neko no te mo karitai (猫の手も借りたい), neko o kaburu (猫 を か ぶ る), karite kita neko (借りてきた猫), neko o ou yori sakana o noke yo (猫を追うより魚をのけよ), and neko o ou yori sara o hike (猫を追うより皿を引け).

ABSTRACT Literary works is one form of art in which language is used as a medium, one of them is poetry. Language in poetry is free and solid regarding the licencia poetica, yet it still contains various aspects of life as the poet’s idea. In order to convey his ideas, the poet uses diction on poetry. The usage of dictions on poetry are able to reveal many things, for example, a city. The description of a city through diction within literary works are often depicted through Indonesian poetry. One of those poetry collections which potray a city through diction usage is Sarinah Poetry Collection by Esha Tegar Putra. This research present the usage of dictions within Sarinah Poetry Collection by Esha Tegar Putra. The problems being discussed are (1) how does the diction interpret a city within the Sarinah Poetry Collection by Esha Tegar Putra (2) how is the relation between the diction and other poetry elements contain in Sarinah Poetry Collection by Esha Tegar and (3) how does the meaning contained within Sarinah Poetry Collection by Esha Tegar Putra related to the diction which intepreted city. The approach used in this research is stylictica with qualitative method. The data were obtained from fifteen poems  written in Sarinah Poetry Collection by Esha Tegar Putra. The result of this study showed that within this Sarinah Poetry Collection are carried diction in form of nouns, verbs, dictions with connotative and dennotative meaning, and diction in form of basic words also words that have undergone morphological processes. The usage of the diction based on the word type and the meaning type is aiming more valid interpretation about city, such as name of the places and facilities provided in the city. Based on the form, the usage of the diction within  Sarinah Poetry Collection is working as the element to strengthen the atmosphere withi the poems. the diction contained in this poem are related to other poetry elements such as tone, imagery and figure of speech, so that they could bring a whole unity meaning of the poem. The diction being used by the poet is functioning to reinforce the meaning and the atmosphere, so that the depiction about a trip, traffic jam, bustle, poverty, environmental matters and injustice that represent a city is clearly present. This research aims to describe the text structure of Qashīdah Huwa an-Nūr based on Badr's structural theory and explain word form of and type of qāfiyah used in this qashīdah based on Masykuri theory. This research used qualitative method with analysis descriptive technique. The results of this research found that the main idea of the text structure of Qashīdah Huwa an-Nūr is 'love of the Rasululllah SAW’. The feature of using figure of speech metaphor and hyperbola is expressed in simple and familiar vocabulary. Based on the research of the word form and types of qafiyah, Qashīdah Huwa an-Nūr has one word form, that is qāfiyah some words. While the word type of qāfiyah is qāfiyah muthlaqah variety. The alphabets of qafiyah are rawiyy, washl, khurūj, and ridf. The Vowels of  qāfiyah are majrā, nafādz and chadwu. The name of qafiyah is a mutadārik. The lack of qāfiyah is not found in this Qashīdah.

This research generally aims to increase knowledge of the translation of a novel translation. Specifically to determine equivalence translations figure of speech, to know the techniques translation in translations figure of speech, and meaning shift of translations figure of speech in this novel Tuesdays with Morrie. The object of research is novel translation by Alex Tri Kantjono Widodo with the title Tuesday with Morrie Mitch Albom's work.The method used is qualitative method and the technique used is content analysis. Data collected by reading novels, collecting data by selecting a clause or sentence containing a figure of speech, quote them and identify then create a table. Furthermore, the sentences were analyzed by formal equivalence or dynamic equivalence.There are 87 identified sentences as a sentence containing a figure of speech. Sentences are divided into two correspondences that formal and dynamic equivalence. There were 70 sentences, or 80% containing formal equivalence and 17 sentences or 20% containing dynamic equivalence. Later, it was discovered seven translation techniques used by the translator of the novel Tuesday with Morrie. This study is entitled “Figurative Language in Westlife Album “Coast to Coast” and My Chemical Romance Album ‘Welcome to Black Parade”. The problems formulated in this study are the types of figurative language employed in Westlife’s and My Chemical Romance’s song lyrics and to find out how is the meaning of figurative language contrasted with its lexical meaning. There were five songs of Westlife chosen to be the source of first data, namely; Againts All Odds, I Lay My Love on You, My Love, What Makes a Man, and When You’re Looking Like That and five songs of My Chemical Romance also chosen to be the source of second data, namely; I Don’t Love You, The Sharpest Live, This How I Disappear, MAMA, and Welcome to Black Parade. The data were collected using documentation method then they were analyzed through qualitative method. After the data were analyzed and discussed, it was found that there were seven kinds of figure of speech employed in all the ten song lyrics; they were Simile, Personification, Hyperbole, Metonymy, Irony, Metaphor and Paradox. And then we find out the meaning of figurative language contrasted with its lexical meaning

The title of this research is style of language of song lyrics hikaru nara by Goose House: a study of stylistic semantics. This research is aimed to analyze what are the meanings and kind of language style used on song lyrics hikaru nara by Goose House. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the meanings and kind of language style on song lyrics hikaru nara by Goose House by using theorys of stylistic semantics proposed by Simpson, theorys of style of langauge proposed by Yamanashi and theorys of meaning proposed by Ogden. The results show that the figures of speech used  in the song lyrics of hikaru nara are metaphor, personification, hyperbole, metonymy, and paradoks. Metaphor is the most dominant figure of speech used by the song lyrics writer. The meanings of the lyrics is after all the troubles faced by the writer in his life, finally he can be a better person and he believes his own strength. This research titled Figurative Language in Joko Widodo Speech. The purpose of this research is to analyze and describe the figure of speech in Joko Widodo speech, the types of figurative language and its meaning of his speech. A qualitative method was used to classify and analyze the data. The technique used in collecting the data was searching videos of Joko Widodo speech. The data used Perrine (1963) and Taylors theories (1981: 167) that many types of figurative language that divide into three classifications namely comparison and substitution, representation by substitution, and contrast by the discrepancy. The data was taken from Joko Widodo Speech in Annual Meeting International Monetary Fund-World Bank in Bali, World Economic ASEAN Forum in Hanoi and US-ASEAN Forum. The author found 9 figurative languages in Joko Widodo speech in the international event; there were 7 allusions, 1 metaphor, and 1 assonance. The conclusion of this research, the using of figurative language is an alternative to implied the literal meaning which can attract the readers or listeners attention and evoke their imagination.
