Introduction: Stunting is a linear growth disorder caused by malnutrition in chronic nutrient intake and chronic recurrent infectious diseases as indicated by height z-score according to age. Infancy is a period that is very sensitive to the environment so more attention is needed especially the adequacy of nutrition. Obstetric complications are very influential on several determinant factors, one of these factors is a medical society or social risk. Family socioeconomic status such as family income, parental education, mother's knowledge about nutrition, and the number of family members can indirectly relate to stunting. Methods: A cross-sectional analytic with a retrospective approach. Processing data using regression tests. Result: The results of this Stunting study were obtained from nutritional status data on children under five in the province of West Sulawesi in January-June 2020 by taking samples using simple random sampling. The total number of samples in this study were 88 people taken from mothers who have Stunting children aged 2-5 years. Social risk is the condition of the mother during pregnancy including age, level of education, ethnicity, occupation, income, referral decision, cost considerations, distance traveled, referral mobilization, consideration of health insurance that is expected to be related to stunting. Conclusion: In this study, it was found that the most influential medicosocial determinants were referral mobilization and employment.

Background The patients suffering from tuberculosis are receiving shame and unfair treatment from the people living around them within their own society attending DOTS clinic of Dharan municipality. Objective To assess the stigma experienced by tuberculosis patients and to find out the association between stigma experienced by Tuberculosis patient and the selected variables (socio-demographic characteristics, clinical profile and illness experience). Methods Descriptive Cross Sectional study was done among sixty tuberculosis patients. Stratified random sampling was used to select the main center and sub center of Tuberculosis treatment and population proportionate simple random sampling using lottery method was done. Data was collected using predesigned, pretested performa from Explanatory Model Interview Catalogue developed by World Health Organization. Results The study revealed that 63.3% of the subjects were stigmatized. There was association between stigma and variables such as occupation, monthly family income and past history of Tuberculosis. There was also association of stigma with treatment phase, category of the patient and past outcome of illness. Conclusion Due to lack of knowledge and awareness about Tuberculosis, many patients were stigmatized. Efforts should be made to educate the public about Tuberculosis to reduce stigma experienced by Tuberculosis patients and improve the compliance of the patient. Background: The ability of pregnant women to deal with early response to high risks is still below the average, which is one of the causes of complications that can indicate the welfare of the mother and her fetus. Objectives: The aim of this study was to look at the determinants that influence early detection of high-risk pregnancies. Methods: This study used an analytic design with a cross sectional design. The sample size of 112 from a population of 155 was obtained by simple random sampling. The independent variables are individual factors, interpersonal influence, filial value and commitment, while the dependent variable is the family's ability to detect high risk of pregnancy for 3 months, namely August-October 2020 at PMB Ika Mardiyanti. This study uses a questionnaire. Data collection in the form of a questionnaire. Data analysis using SEM-PLS. Results: The results of the significance test concluded that all the path coefficients and the T statistical value of personal factors on interpersonal (0.453; 6.612), interpersonal on filial values ​​(0.753; 7.267), filial value for commitment (0.851; 17.048), filial value for ability (0.667 ; 4,679), commitment to ability (0.358; 2.356) is significant. Because all have a T-statistic value that is more than the T-table 1.96. Conclusion: The determinant factors that contribute to the ability of families to detect high risk of pregnancy need to be considered so that families are independent and have efforts to maintain the health of pregnant women in their families. In further research, it is necessary to involve other factors to improve family capacity, especially in the ability of families to detect high-risk pregnancies early.   Keywords: Ability, family, high-risk.

Background: While parental education and family socioeconomic status (SES) are associated with an increase in children’s cognitive functioning, and less is known about racial variation in these effects. Minorities’ Diminished Returns (MDRs) suggest that, under racism and social stratification, family SES and particularly parental education show weaker effects on children’s tangible outcomes for marginalized, racialized, and minoritized families, particularly Blacks, compared to Whites. Aim: We conducted this study to compare the effect of parental education on children’s mental rotation abilities, as an important aspect of cognitive function, by race. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 11,135 9–10-year-old American children. Data came from baseline of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. The independent variable was parental education. The dependent variable, mental rotation, was measured by the Little Man Task. Ethnicity, gender, age, marital status, and household income were the covariates. Results: Parental education was positively associated with mental rotation. However, parental education showed a weaker association with mental rotation in Black than in White families. This was documented by a significant interaction between race and parental education on children’s efficiency score. Conclusion: Parental education shows a weaker correlation with mental rotation of Black rather than White children, which is probably because of racism, social stratification, and discrimination. This finding is in line with the MDRs phenomenon and suggests that marginalization and racism may interfere with the influences of parental assets and resources and Black American children’s development.

ABSTRACT<br /><br />Background: The problem of growth among underfi ves in Indonesia is related to the number of infants that are given<br />complementary  feeding since the age of one month. It infl uenced the prevalence of undernourishment 3.25% and<br />malnutritionat District of Kadia become higher. Those nutrition problem can be affected by inability to provide foods as<br />needed by members of the family, knowledge and behavior of the family in food selection, cook and distribute the food<br />in the family. Another problem is lack of mothers' attention to monitor the child growth and development<br />Objective: To study the factors associated with mothers' behavior in the supply of complementary breastfeeding to<br />infants of 6–24 months at Perumnas Health Center Subdistrict of Kadia Kendari Municipality.<br />Method: This analytical study used a cross sectional design and quantitative and qualitative method. Subject were mothers'<br />of underfi ves who fulfi lled inclusion criteria at the working area of Perumnas Health Center District of Kadia Kendari<br />Municipality. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique. Research instruments were questionnaire<br />and indepth interview guide. Data analysis used chi square and double logistic regression test. Qualitative data were<br />analyzed manually and presented in narration.<br />Result: Predisposition factors signifi cantly associated with mothers' behavior in the supply of complementary breastfeeding<br />were mothers' education (p=0.025; OR=3.27), family income (p=0.007; OR=4.65), knowledge of mothers (p=0.05;<br />OR=2.75), and mothers' attitude (p=0.027; OR=2.92). Another supporting factor, i.e. participation of mothers in the<br />integrated service post (posyandu) was signifi cantly associated with behavior in the supply of complementary breastfeeding<br />(p=0.008; OR=3.65). Encouraging factors associated with the behavior of mother in the supply of complementary<br />breastfeeding were support of the health staff (p=0.005; OR=4.21) and the family (p=0.041; OR=4.22).<br />Conclusion: The result of multivariate analysis showed that the factor most dominantly associated with the behavior in<br />the supply of complementary breastfeeding was education of mothers (p=0.012; OR=5,40).<br />KEYWORDS: behavior, complementary breastfeeding, infants of 6 – 24 months<br /><br />ABSTRAK<br />Latar Belakang: Masalah gangguan pertumbuhan balita di Indonesia berkaitan dengan banyaknya bayi yang sudah<br />diberi makanan pendamping ASI (MPASI) sejak usia kurang dari atau 1 bulan. Hal ini mengakibatkan prevalensi gizi<br />kurang dan buruk di Kecamatan Kadia cukup tinggi. Masalah gizi ini dipengaruhi oleh tingkat kemampuan menyediakan<br />pangan sesuai dengan kebutuhan anggota keluarga, pengetahuan dan perilaku keluarga dalam memilih, mengolah,<br />dan membagi makanan di tingkat rumah tangga. Permasalahan lain kurangnya perhatian ibu untuk memantau tumbuh<br />kembang balitanya.<br />Tujuan:  Mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan perilaku ibu dalam pemberian MPASI pada anak usia<br />6-24 bulan di Puskesmas Perumnas Kecamatan Kadia, Kota Kendari.<br />Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional, menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan <br />kualitatif. Subjek adalah ibu balita yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Perumnas Kecamatan<br />Kadia, Kota Kendari. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 97 subjek. Pengambilan sampel secara simple random sampling. Data<br />dikumpulkan dengan panduan wawancara mendalam dan dianalisis dengan Chi-Square dan uji regresi logistik berganda.<br />Data kualitatif dianalisis secara manual dan disajikan dalam bentuk narasi.<br />Hasil: Dari faktor-faktor predisposisi, yang mempunyai hubungan bermakna dengan perilaku ibu dalam pemberian MPASI<br />adalah pendidikan ibu (p=0,025; RP = 3,27), pendapatan per kapita keluarga (p=0,007; RP = 4,65), pengetahuan ibu<br />(p= 0,05; RP= 2,75), dan sikap ibu (p = 0,027; RP=2,92) dengan perilaku pemberian MPASI. Dari faktor pendukung,<br />partisipasi ibu ke posyandu mempunyai hubungan bermakna dengan perilaku pemberian MPASI (p=0,008; RP=3,65),<br />sedangkan dari faktor pendorong yang berhubungan dengan perilaku ibu dalam pemberian MPASI adalah dukungan<br />petugas kesehatan (p=0,005; RP=4,21) dan dukungan keluarga (p=0,041; RP=4,22). Stunting is condition of nutritional status based on length for age or height for age with Z-score value that equal to or less than minus two standard deviation (-2 SD). Therefore, the purpose this study to analyze the factors affecting of stunting. This cross sectional study done in Dlanggu primary health care. Sample taken with simple random sampling technique amounted to 88 respondents. Colectting data with check list and questionnaire or analyze with chi square and logistic regression. Result of bivariat shows length of born (PR=1,676; 95%CI=1,060-2,651), family income (PR=2,333; 95%CI=1,297-4,199), size of upper arm circumfence of the mother (PR=2,288; 95%CI=1,492-3,508), and complication of pregnant (PR=2,154; 95%CI=1,297-3,578) was risk factor of the stunting in children under five years. The most factor has influenced of stunting based on multivariate thas education of mother, family income and complication of pregnant. Prevention of stunting with successful movement of the first 1000 days of life through improved mutrition of pregnant, given exclusive breast feeding and balanced nutrition in the family.

Background: Iron deficiency is caused by a persisting imbalance between a person’s dietary intake and body’s physiological demand of iron. A catch hold of these causes needs to be undertaken to break the intergenerational cycle of anaemia as well as recurrent infections associated with it. Objectives was to assess knowledge and consumption of iron among teachers in the reproductive age group.Methods: 110 school teachers were selected from selected government and private schools (primary/middle/ secondary/higher secondary) by simple random sampling technique. Teacher’s knowledge and consumption of iron consumption and associated factors was studied using a pre- tested; self- administered questionnaire.Results: 58.3% teachers were in the 30-39 year age group. Maximum were married 85.45%, 61.81% were post- graduates and 42.72% were in higher-secondary schools. 60.90% had a family income of >Rs 30000. 70.90% believed foods are the best source of iron. 57.27%, 53.63% believed menstruation effects body source of iron. 80.90% and 85.45% believed that iron has a role in pregnancy and iron rich foods and tablets are sufficient to maintain its body stores.Conclusions: IEC activities needs to be conducted among different strata of population so that the intake of iron could be increased and associated factors effecting its intake and absorption could be taken care of.

This paper reports research on levels of family socioeconomic status, religiosity and alcohol use among secondary school adolescents in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality, Uganda (BIM). The study employed a cross- sectional survey design with quantitative method of data collection and analysis.  Proportionate stratified, and systematic simple random sampling techniques were used to arrive at the final sample of participants. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire with standardized scales. The instrument comprised Bio-data, SES scale, religiosity, spiritual scale for Youth, and AUDIT Test for Alcohol use. Responses were obtained from a total of 404 participants who included females as the majority (54.7%).  The mean age of the students was 15.91. Results show that majority of the students came from families with moderate levels of socioeconomic status. It was further discovered that students had low levels of alcohol use and high levels of religiosity. Implications of the study findings are discussed.

Introduction: School refusal has some distinctive features and it can affect the academic achievement of the students very negatively. Several socio-demographic factors are responsible for school refusal. This study intends to see the role of some socio-demographic factors in school refusal among primary grade students of five private schools of the city of Ranchi. Methodology: It was a Cross-sectional school-based study on five private schools of Ranchi city. Total students approached were 1640, out of which 52 students were selected purposively as per the study criteria. Socio-demographic Data Sheet and School Refusal Assessment Scale-Revised (SRAS-R) were used and descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one way ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc test were used. Results: Factors like the gender of the students, parental education, monthly family income and family type have a significant impact on school refusal behaviour of selected students.  Conclusion: School refusal is a complicated problem and it has been influenced by various factors.  Keywords: School refusal, demographic variables, parents, family, absenteeism

AbstractPoverty, as assessed by several socioeconomic (SES) factors, has been linked to worse cognitive performance and reduced cortical brain volumes in children. However, the relative contributions of the various SES factors on brain development and the mediating effects between cognition and brain morphometry have not been investigated. Here we used cross-sectional data from the ABCD Study to evaluate associations among various SES and demographic factors, brain morphometrics, and cognition and their reproducibility in two independent subsamples of 3892 children. Among the SES factors, family income (FI) best explained individual differences in cognitive test scores (stronger for crystallized than for fluid cognition), cortical volume (CV), and thickness (CT). Other SES factors that showed significant associations with cognition and brain morphometrics included parental education and neighborhood deprivation, but when controlling for FI, their effect sizes were negligible and their regional brain patterns were not reproducible. Mediation analyses showed that cognitive scores, which we used as surrogate markers of the children’s level of cognitive stimulation, partially mediated the association of FI and CT, whereas the mediations of brain morphometrics on the association of FI and cognition were not significant. These results suggest that lack of supportive/educational stimulation in children from low-income families might drive the reduced CV and CT. Thus, strategies to enhance parental supportive stimulation and the quality of education for children in low-income families could help counteract the negative effects of poverty on children’s brain development.

Background: Postpartum mothers are likely to experience physical and psychological changes. A new role as a parent provides new tasks for mothers in baby care. Most postpartum mothers experience fatigue after labor. Postpartum fatigue is affected by the baby and family. This study aims to identify factors associated with postpartum fatigue.Method: A cross-sectional study was designed. The sample in this research was 102 postpartum mothers who lived with her family in Bantul Yogyakarta. They were taken by using simple random sampling. The data were collected through the Postpartum Fatigue Scale (PFS), infant characteristic questionnaire (ICQ), and social support questionnaire. Factors associated with postpartum fatigue were analyzed using multiple logistic regressions.Results: Most of the respondents had a moderate level of fatigue (48%). Social support was found significant as the determinant factor of postpartum mother (AOR=4,38, 95% CI 1,709 – 11,256, p= 0,002).Conclusion: Respondents with a low social support level showed a significantly higher level of postpartum fatigue than respondents with good social support. It is essential to assist the family in helping mothers in infant care and postpartum care in the postpartum period. The factor associated with postpartum fatigue included infant temperament and family income.
