In the interwar period, in the northern part of the village of Pobiednik Wielki in today’s district of Kraków, a backup landing pad of the 2nd Aviation Regiment was built, based at Rakowice-Czyżyny airport in Kraków. From 1 to 4 September 1939, various air units of this regiment were stationed in Pobiednik – two squadrons of the Cracow III/2 Fighter Squadron (Nos 121 and 122), as well as planes of the 23rd and 26th Observation Squadron and Liaison Platoon No. 3. Fighter aircraft took off from here to fight German air bomber raids, and reconnaissance planes worked for the land units of the „Kraków” Army. The stay at the airstrip in Pobiednik, lasting only a few dozen hours, was an intensely active time for the Kraków aviation units.

The article deals with the characteristics of the ethno-demographic situation in Northern Bukovyna and Khotyn region during their stay in Romania. It was found that one of the positive effects can be considered a gradual increase in the total population of the studied region by 15,69%. At a time when Ukrainians were experiencing a number of demographic disasters, the Bukovyna-Bessarabian region recovered from the aftermath of World War I and demonstrated a qualitative population growth trend. Along with this slowdown was urbanization. Although in the interwar period the number of urban population increased by 18,29%, but the ratio of rural and urban residents did not change significantly. Migration processes from the village to the city, even if they took place, are hardly reflected in statistics. The highest rates of population growth were observed in Chernivtsi (by 19,9%). Due to the lack of reliable census materials, it is not possible to determine the exact national composition of the region. Instead, it is confirmed that among all the nationalities, who lived in Vashkivtsi, Vyzhnytsia, Zastavna, Kitsman, Storozhynets, Khotyn and Chernivtsi districts that existed before 1925, and in Storozhynets, Khotyn and Chernivtsi districts formed instead of them, Ukrainians were predominant. Keywords: Northern Bukovyna, Khotyn region, population, national composition

The article deals with the problems of the Poberezhia village inhabitants’ cultural, educational and socioeconomic life as the typical countryside settlement of the Eastern Galicia of the interwar period (1919–1939). The social conditions of the local population residence were highlighted. They depended directly on the size of the land allotment. It was found that the agriculture and small industries related to the processing of agricultural raw materials and natural materials were the main vectors of economic activity in the Poberezhia village. The effectiveness of this activity consisted in the qualitative peasants’ self-organization for the cooperative movement. The situation of education in the village and the struggle of Poberezhia inhabitants for the Ukrainian language of education and a national-cultural consciousness preservation, where the important place was given to such public associations as «Ridna Shkola», «Prosvita», «Luh» and «Sokil», were analyzed. It was investigated that the local military-patriotic organization «Polski Związek Strzelecki» was provided by Poberezhia Polish community.

This house can be seen in the area of the Ethnographic Park Romulus Vuia. The house was built in the interwar period and it was donated to the museum by Bishop Macarie Drăgoi. It is also the last immovable item of heritage transferred. The article begins by providing information about Spermezeu, about its history and in general about peasant houses in this geographic area. Then, the information is strictly related to the house „Bishop Macarie Drăgoi”. Arriving in the village, I interviewed some people who knew the owners of the house. From these people I learned a lot of valuable information about the house, the owners, Hognogi spouses, and how the house was built. They did not have any heirs and their belongings came into the possession of other relatives. The house is important because in time it has kept the original form. The last part of the article presents the transfer of the house to the museum area and the reason for transfer. This last information has been taken from Bishop Macarie Drăgoi who, by his action, wished to preserve and redeem this house.

Abstract. Fighter pilots may be exposed to extended flight missions. Consequently, there is increasing concern about fatigue. We investigated the effects of fatigue and cognitive performance in a simulated 11-hr mission in the 39 Gripen fighter aircraft. Five cognitive tasks were used to assess cognitive performance. Fatigue was measured with the Samn–Perelli Fatigue Index. Results showed that performance in the non-executive task degraded after approximately 7 hr. Fatigue ratings showed a matching trend to the performance in this task. Performance in tasks taxing executive functions did not decline. We interpreted that fatigue can be overridden by increased attentional effort for executive tasks but not for non-executive components of cognition. Participants underestimated their performance and metacognitive accuracy was not influenced by fatigue.

The article deals with a labor camp for Jews founded by the Germans in Cerkwisko near Bartków Nowy, Karczew Commune, was transferred to the village of Szczeglacin due to the works’ advancement along the river. The Jews who died in that camp performed work connected with water management which consisted in draining the farmland and engineering the Kołodziejka River a Bug tributary. The liquidation of the Szczeglacin camp probably took place in the morning of 22 October 1942.  Several hundred Jews were killed with a primitive tool – a wooden club. According to the witnesses, “when spring came,” probably of 1944, the Germans returned to the spot to conduct an exhumation of the remains in order to ultimately cover the traces. The article is based on various sources – from oral accounts, collected in 2009 in Szczeglacin and the neighboring villages, through records produced in 1947  (Josek Kopyto’s testimony) and 1994e manuscript of a peasant from Bartków Stary as well as regional publications
