The study aims at examining (1) the effectiveness of the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model using Open Ended approach, (2) the students’ learning result in mathematics who were taught by using PBL model with Open Ended approach, (3) the students’ activities in teaching and learning process by using PBL model with Open Ended approach, and (4) the students’ response on learning. The study is pre-experiment research with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The populations of the study were class VIII students at SMPN 33 Makassar of academic year 2016/2017 wich consisted of 10 classes. Samples were selected by employing Cluster Random Sampling technique and obtained class VIIIE as the research sample. Data were obtained by using learning result test instrument, observation sheet of students’ activities, observation sheet of learning implementation, and questionnaire of students’ response. The results of the study reveal that the learning result score of class VIII students in mathematics I sin high category, the mean 83.22, and deviation standar 8.549, the classical completeness is 87.50%, the mean of normalized gain is in high category, the students’ activity is in very active category, and students’ response on the implementation of PBL model with Open Ended approach is positive. The result of hypothesis test indicates that PBL model with Open Ended approach is effective to implemented in Mathematics learning to class VIII students at SMPN 33 Makassar.

Background Blood is an important and crucial component in the management of patients presenting with severe accident injuries, surgical conditions, malignancies, pregnancy-related complications, and other medical conditions. Objectives To assess intention to voluntary blood donation among private higher education students in Jimma Town, South West Ethiopia, 2019. Methods Institution-based cross-sectional study with quantitative methods was conducted in private higher education students in Jimma town. A multistage sampling technique was used to recruit study participants. First, a simple random sampling technique was used to select departments in each private higher education institution. Seven departments were included in the study and after proportionally allocated in each department, a total of 595 were participated in the study, producing a response rate of 98%. The data was collected using self-administered structured questioners with 3 trained data collectors. Multivariable linear regression analysis was done to assess association between the independent variables and dependent variable. Results The mean score for intention of the respondents to donate blood voluntarily was 15.41 out of 25 with standard deviation of 4.42.The TPB variables explained 61.3% of the variance of intention to donate blood. Direct perceived behavioral control (β = 0.745, P < 0.001), direct attitude (B = 0.295, P<0.001) and direct subjective norm (β = 0.131, P< 0.001) were significant predictors of the intention. Conclusion Respondents’ intentions are mainly determined by perceived barriers and, subjective norms, the attitude of respondents towards voluntary blood donation.

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of learning models to student achievement. Learning models compared between NHT-CTL, NHT and direct instruction. Method of research used quasi experimental with the factorial design of 3x1. Population of this research was all students class VIII in SMP Negeri at Madiun City. The sampling technique using a stratified cluster random sampling. Samples in this research were 266 students with 91 students as experimental class I, 88 students as experimental class II and 87 students as control class. Data collection methods used documentation and test.Hypothesis testing was performed using one-way analysis of variance with unequal cells. Based on the results of hypothesis testwere concluded that NHT-CTL learning model gave better achievement than NHT learning model and direct instruction, while NHT learning model and direct instruction gave the same achievement.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the use of visualization of proofs upon discovery learning models in mathematics learning in terms of understanding concepts. This study is an experimental design which used quantitative methods to obtain data on student conceptual understanding. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling. The population sample used in this study was 11th grade secondary students, chosen from 11 IPA 2 of SMAN 8 Yogyakarta, 11 IPA 3 of SMAN 8 Yogyakarta, 11 IPA 3 of SMAN 2 Yogyakarta, 11 IPA 4 of SMAN 2 Yogyakarta, 11 IPA 1 of SMAN 11 Yogyakarta, and 11 IPA 2 of SMAN 11 Yogyakarta. In each school, two classes were chosen with one class was given a discovery learning treatment with visualization of proofs (PWW) and the other class was given a discovery learning treatment without visualization of proofs. The measurement instrument used in this study was an essay test instrument with five questions. Discovery learning is said to be effective if the average value of conceptual understanding is at least 75. Based on the results of this study, although the data obtained did not meet the assumptions of normality, the number of members of the sample were more than 30 so that the data analysis could use parametric statistics. Using a hypothesis testing with a significance level of 0.05, it was found that the use of visualization of proofs was effective in mathematics discovery learning models if it was viewed from conceptual understanding.
