Abstract The main goal of this paper was to identify the main factors determining the performance of the Slovak tax system. For practical reasons, we decided to deal with all of the potentially relevant dimensions that can be included in the theme – from tax policy to tax administration. The paper is based on primary and secondary data; it combines qualitative and quantitative research methods. The primary data were collected in two rounds, with long-term research about the needs perceived by tax officials and with the “Delphi method”. The comparison of the opinions of tax officials and tax experts with the existing evidence serves as the basis for the paper’s conclusions and policy proposals. The research shows that the most important areas mentioned by tax officials and experts are relevant (to simplify tax collection, to decrease tax bureaucracy, to provide better information about the tax system to businesses and citizens and to improve tax administration services). However, the second most frequent answer by tax officials (to decrease the tax burden) is somewhat disputable – the research indicates the existence of some level of tax illusion, even at the level of tax administration professionals. The research also reveals the relatively low priority given to the need to increase the level of risk connected with tax evasion, which is surprising because the data clearly indicate a very high level of tax fraud in the country.

In preventing the Covid-19 pandemic, immigration has a security function which is carried out by selecting the intentions and objectives of foreign nationals to Indonesian territory by examining visa applications, including in handling detainees in the detention room. The problem in this study is whether the arrangements for handling detainees in the detention room of the Class 1 Immigration Office for Non TPI, South Jakarta can be implemented during the covid-19 pandemic. How to optimize the handling of detainees during the covid-19 pandemic in the detention room of the Class 1 Immigration Office for Non TPI, South Jakarta. This research method is empirical normative using primary data and secondary data. The results of the study stated that the arrangements for handling detainees in the detention room of the Class 1 Immigration Office for Non TPI, South Jakarta, could not be fully implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is because until now there is no regulation specifically for the Class I Immigration Office for Non TPI related to the handling of detainees in the detention room, thus causing the absence of standard operating procedures for officers. Optimization of the handling of detainees during a pandemic in the detention room of the Class 1 Immigration Office for Non TPI Special South Jakarta is through the issuance of the Regulation of the Director General of Immigration regarding the handling of detainees during a pandemic in the detention room at the Immigration Office Class 1 Special for Non TPI South Jakarta.

The study investigates the factors that inspire Moroccans to engage in both online and offline civic efforts. The inquiry targeted demographics, frequency of Facebook use, the influence of online engagement on participation in real life and the main motivations behind Moroccan civic engagement online. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were adopted to collect and analyze both primary and secondary data. An online survey was administered to (n=277) participants through Facebook targeting the general public of Moroccan Facebook users to collect primary data. Secondary data was collected via semi-structured interviews with (n=3) social activists to provide a comprehensive view of both normal citizens and people who can be considered specialists in the field. The findings revealed the extent to which Moroccans’ usage of Facebook influences their engagement both online and offline, indicating that social media use for civic purposes is significantly related to offline participation. Despite that, higher levels of the so-called “slacktivism” behaviors dominate Moroccans’ civic activities performed on Facebook. Findings in general support the fact that Facebook plays a significant role in the development of civic engagement in Morocco.
