Research background and hypothesis. According the methodological requirement testing procedures do not modify the main training objectives. It is well known that specificity of performance assessment tests is important if we want to compare performance of different groups tested.Research aim was to find out the peculiarities of muscular performance indices in sprint and endurance cohorts while performing a 30-s vertical jump test.Research methods. The participants of the study were two groups of athletes, i. e. sprint and endurance runners. The participants of the study performed a 30-s vertical jumps test with maximal efforts. The sum of height of all jumps was calculated by a special computerized program and the values in height of jumps, contact time and relative power at onset of workload and at each 5 seconds of the test were analyzed.Research results. The difference between the cohorts in jumps height was statistically significant (p < 0.05) during the whole series of jumps. Athletes’ adaptation to speed-power type of exercising produced higher anaerobic muscle performance indices while performing 30-s duration jumps test. Endurance runners usually demonstrate lower results in jumping than sprint- athletes and they compensate reduced muscular power with prolonged duration of take-off.Discussion and conclusions. Despite some methodological limitations the results of this study show that the assessment of muscular performance indices allows assessing the peculiarities of dynamics of relative muscle power and fatigue. Keywords: endurance and sprint running, muscular performance, vertical jump test.

Creatine monohydrate (CrH2O) supplementation has been demonstrated to increase skeletal muscle power output in men. However, its effect upon women is not as clearly defined. This study investigated the effect of oral creatine supplementation upon muscle function, thigh circumference, and body weight in women. Twenty-two consenting college-age women were assigned to 1 of 2 groups matched for dietary and exercise habits, phase of menstrual cycle, and fat-free mass (FFM). After familiarization with testing procedures, pretrial measures of muscle function (5 repetitions 60 deg · s−1 and 50 repetitions 180 deg · s−1) were conducted during maximal voluntary concentric contraction of the preferred quadriceps muscle using an isokinetic dynamometer. Subjects then ingested 0.5 g · kg−1 FFM of either CrH2O or placebo (one fourth dosage 4 times daily) in a double-blind design for 5 days. Resistance exercise was prohibited. After the ingestion phase was completed, all measures were repeated at the same time of day as during pretrials. Statistical analysis revealed time to peak torque in quadriceps extension decreased from pre-test values of 255 ± 11 ms (mean ± SEM) to post-test values of 223 ± 3 ms; average power in extension increased from 103 ± 7 W pre-test to 112 ± 7 W post-test; and, during flexion, average power increased from 59 ± 5 W pre-test to 65 ± 5 W post-test in the creatine group as compared to controls (p ≤ .05). FFM, percent body fat, mid-quadriceps circumference, skinfold thickness of the measured thigh, and total body weight did not change for both groups between trials. We conclude that CrH2O improves muscle performance in women without significant gains in muscle volume or body weight.

Research background and hypothesis. The assessments of functional fitness of swimmers includes the analyses of the physical, physiological and biomechanical indices for scientific purposes. The hypothesis is that dynamical parameters registered while performing field testing tasks could be more informative than laboratory assessments in predicting the performance abilities. The aim of the study was to compare the informativeness of field tests and laboratory assessments in predicting the possible performance of athletes in the 50 m distance.Research methods. Twelve professional swimmers took part in three testing procedures. First, each participant performed a test in  water to establish the traction force parameters and indices of muscle power and anaerobic capacity. Second, the subjects performed a control 50 m freestyle swim the best they could. Third, the indices of relative muscle power during jumping tasks, anaerobic capacity, and functional indices of cardiovascular system were assessed during laboratory testing.Research results. Significant correlation was found between the results in 50 m swimming and traction forces while performing testing tasks in water or out of water with arms or arms and legs together. However, there was no statistically significant correlation between the results in swimming and the height of vertical jump. Still there exists significant correlation (p  < 0.05) between the speed and force components as well as fatigability index and the competition result (r = –0.47; r = 0.56 and r = 0.67, respectively).Discussion and conclusions. Dynamical parameters measured in the swimming pool while performing field tests are more suitable than the data of laboratory research for predicting the results of swimmers in the 50m freestyle swim. The vertical high jump tests and indices of ECG allow distinguishing the factors limiting the working capacity of athletes. Keywords: swimming, functional fitness, field test.

This study aims to determine the correlation between leg muscle power to volleyball spike skills in class X SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Musi, Empat Lawang. The method used is a descriptive correlational method, because basically this study aims to determine the relationship between variables. The research data collection instrument was carried out by measuring the power of the leg muscles using the Vertical Jump test, then the Spike skill was performed with the Spike. The results of data analysis indicate that the hypothesis proposed is acceptable, there is a positive relationship between the two variables, namely of 0.977 is positive, meaning that the greater the score obtained, the stronger the relationship between the two variables. The test for the significance of the correlation coefficient was carried out by means of the value r count with r table at α = 5% with N = 24 obtained r table of 0.404 because the correlation coefficient between rx.y = 0.97 r (0.5) (24) = 0.404 means the correlation between the power of leg muscles on the Spike skills of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Musi students is significant. Thus, the hypothesis which says "there is a strong correlation between leg muscle power on the Spike skills of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Musi students", is accepted. This means that there is a correlation between leg muscle strength and the Spike

The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences of physical fitness between elite and non-elite golfers in the National Golf Academy, UUM. The two groups were compared based on their physical fitness (leg power, muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance and abdominal muscle performances) and golf performances (handicap, 5-iron ball speed, 5-iron clubhead speed, 5-iron carry distance, average score, greens in regulations, and putts per round). Significant differences were found on handicap and predicted Vo2max variables (p < 0.05). Significant differences were also found on non-dominant leg vertical jump (20.6 ± 4.5 vs. 14.7 ± 5, p < 0.05) and push up performances (27.9 ± 10.1 vs. 16.4 ± 11.2, p < 0.05) between the elite and non-elite groups. Elite golfers have better performances in static balance (both dominant and non-dominant leg) and abdominal muscle performance where the significant level was found to be less than 0.05. While for golf performances, the difference between those two groups were found on the 5-iron clubhead speed, 5-iron ball speed, 5-iron carrying distance and average score (p < 0.05). These results can be used for developing training programmemes, as well as for the development of talent identification programmemes. Abstract Study aim: To investigate the effect of fatigue, induced by a volleyball training game on the risk of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Material and methods: Thirteen female volleyball college athletes, ages 18 to 21 years old, completed jump landings from a box 30 cm height, prior and post a 60-minute volleyball training game. The clinical tool Landing Error Scoring System (LESS) was employed in order to evaluate the technique of landing prior and post the game. The level of fatigue induced by the volleyball game was assessed by vertical jump test and Borg Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) Scale pre and post-game. In order to compare measurements pre and post-game t-tests for dependent samples were used. Results: Participants performed lower vertical jumps post-game with a Confidence Interval of 26.2 ± 2.3 cm (pre-game) and 24.9 ± 2.2 cm (post game). The difference between pre and post-game was found to be statistically significant with a t12 = 2.55 and a p-value of 0.026. In the case of assessing fatigue, the Borg RPE scale scores were found to be statistically significant (t12 = 14.05, p < 0.001) higher post-game (10.2 ± 0.6), as compared to pre-game (6.5 ± 0.4). Similarly, LESS scores increased significantly (t12 = 2.21, p = 0.047), post-game (6.3 ± 1.1) compared to pre-game (5.8 ± 1.0) that prove poorer landing ability. Conclusion: It seems that a short duration volleyball training game induces fatigue and negatively affects the jumping and landing ability.

The problem in this study is the ability to smash the volleyball athletes of SMA Negeri 1 Linggo Sari Baganti not so well. This study aims to determine the contribution of leg muscle explosive power and eye-hand coordination to the volleyball smash ability at SMA Negeri 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. The type of this research is correlational. The population in this research is all male students of class 1 and 2 of SMA Negeri 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Thus the number of samples in this study was 30 people. Data were collected using measurements of all three variables. Leg muscle explosive power variables used a vertical jump test and eye-hand coordination using ball werfen unchanged, while the smash ability used the smash ability test. Data were analyzed with product correlation and followed by multiple correlation. The results showed that the explosive power of the limbs had a significant relationship with the ability to smash because it was found to count 0.576> r table 0.361. Hand-eye coordination has a significant relationship with the ability to smash because it was found to be 0.466 table 0.361. Furthermore, the explosive power of the limbs and eye-hand coordination together have a significant relationship with the ability to smash and are empirically accepted, because it is found that r count = 0.677> r table = 0.361.
