Nursing professionals face a high level of stress and burnout due to overloaded responsibilities, which may cause a low level of self-efficacy. From the perspective of nursing professionals, the research aims to understand what are the sources of stress and burnout which would reduce the self-efficacy and the unbalanced patient ratio and how would nursing professionals describe their experiences, sources of stress and burnout, and self-efficacy. Based on the snowball sampling strategy, 60 nursing professionals were invited for qualitative research data collection. Based on the lens of the self-efficacy approach, the results indicated that the environmental factors, including workplace bullying, family stress, misunderstanding of public members, and personal development and career enhancement took important roles in increasing their stress and burnout and in reducing their self-efficacy. The outcomes of this study discovered the social status and discrimination toward nursing professionals. Government leaders, policymakers, and researchers should take this research as an opportunity to reform their policy for human resource management and education for the respectfulness of medical and nursing professionals in the public health system.

In one of the foundational articles of persona studies, Marshall and Barbour (2015) look to Hannah Arendt for development of a key concept within the larger persona framework: “Arendt saw the need to construct clear and separate public and private identities. What can be discerned from this understanding of the public and the private is a nuanced sense of the significance of persona: the presentation of the self for public comportment and expression” (2015, p. 3). But as far back as the ancient world from which Arendt draws her insights, the affordance of persona was not evenly distributed. As Gines (2014) argues, the realm of the household, oikos, was a space of subjugation of those who were forced to be “private,” tending to the necessities of life, while others were privileged with life in the public at their expense. To demonstrate the core points of this essay, I use textual analysis of a YouTube family vlog, featuring a Black mother in the United States, whose persona rapidly changed after she and her White husband divorced. By critically examining Arendt’s concepts around public, private, and social, a more nuanced understanding of how personas are formed in unjust cultures can help us theorize persona studies in more egalitarian and robust ways.

Although Hepatitis C has profound impacts on individuals living in communities, most research has been conducted in a hospital or laboratory setting. Additionally, there is a lack of research exploring the social effects of Hepatitis C in rural communities. In this qualitative study, we focus on perceptions on Hepatitis C within a rural community, describe how the local residents perceive social hierarchy within their community, and explore the process of stigma building. Informed by a grounded theory approach, we employed a snowball sampling strategy in a southern rural area to conduct in-depth, open-ended interviews. In our findings we describe how local restaurants were often utilized as places to exchange personal opinions on various community issues among the upper hierarchical members, consider the ways social hierarchy influences people’s perceptions, and explore community members’ response to the problem of ignored viral infections within the community. We found the community leaders are earning the trust by living in the community for an extended period of time; therefore, they tend to be elderly yet remain active as members of various committees. Additionally, we argue that the common view of “family-like support” in rural communities is largely a myth; it is a romanticized view of the rural living held and perpetuated by the upper-class people in the community. Therefore, instead of depending on idealized or imaginary social support, rural communities need to consider organizing a system of formal support.

The aim of this study is to improve a measurement tool to evaluate the self-efficacy of Electrical-Electronics Engineering students through their basic electronics skills. The sample group is composed of 124 Electrical-Electronics engineering students. The validity of the scale is analyzed with two different methods through factor analysis and distinctiveness. To evaluate the how much each item that exists in the scale can measure the factor they belong to, item total factor correlations and corrected correlations are calculated on the data. According to the acquired values, each item and each factor in the scale are found to serve to the run-of the scale and the aim of scaling the desired facility, in a meaningful level. Moreover, analyzing the t value related to the differences between the groups of top 27% and bottom 27%, the item distinctiveness’s are researched and it is detected that the distinctiveness of both of the run-of the scale and each one of the items is high level; in other words, it is detected that each item is distinctive in the desired level. The internal consistency coefficients of the scale is calculated using two congruent halves correlations, Cronbach Alpha, Sperman-Brown formula and Guttmann split-half reliability formula. Consequently, it is concluded that the scale is a reliable and valid scale and this scale can be used to determine the basic electronics skills of the Electrical-Electronics Engineering students through their self-perceptions.

The Belle Gibson scandal that broke in 2015 is a testament to the growing phenomenon of lifestyle gurus in the 21st century. In this article, our aim is not to explain the psychology behind Gibson’s lies. Rather, we focus on the social, cultural and technological conditions that enabled Gibson’s persona to flourish and their impact on contemporary understandings of the self. Lifestyle gurus embody the para-social, trading off the appeal of intimacy, authenticity and integrity. We demonstrate how social media have increased the levels of emotional investment, trust and attention capital in para-social relationships by providing ubiquitous access to native experts and creating the platform to achieve influence and micro-celebrity status. Finally, we contend that the growing number of lifestyle gurus providing the public with health advice and scientific knowledge points to the need to examine critically the social and cultural landscape that enables micro-celebrities to emerge.

The article considers the stable ideas of the significant part of the Moscow students when assessing personal qualities typical for the Russian youth. The study presented in the report of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation in 2011 identified a high level of the youth’s criticism when assessing one’s generation and emphasizing its egoism and irresponsibility. In the surveys conducted in the Moscow University for Humanities in 2011-2019, a part of the same questionnaire was used to assess the qualities of the contemporary Russian youth, and the results were the same. In the ranking of such qualities in 2019, the first 10 positions were taken by laziness, selfishness, sociability, irresponsibility, aggressiveness, independence, indifference, optimism, naivety and cynicism, i.e. together with positive features there are qualities traditionally considered in the Russian society as unacceptable. The last 10 positions were taken by openness, kindness, pushfulness, initiative, greed, rationalism, responsibility, honesty, patriotism and conscientiousness. Thus, the highly appreciated by the society moral qualities are presented in the students’ estimates as not typical for the youth. The additional open questions clarifying the value orientations of students in terms of their estimates of such attitudes of people in the past, present and future showed that in older generations and one’s social circle the student youth appreciate the most the socially valued qualities and want their children in the future to have such. The ranking of such qualities starts with honesty, kindness, responsibility, purposefulness, openness, sociability, sincerity, responsiveness, punctuality and goodwill. The contradictions between the estimates of the youth qualities and the expected qualities of one’s social circle have been repeatedly confirmed at the empirical level. However, this is not a feature of the student youth but rather a result of the social anomie in the sphere of value orientations in the transition period. The authors believe that the transformation trend of students’ value orientations towards individualism is stable but not typical for the youth in general.

Abstract.RELATIONSHIPS AMONG PARENTAL SUPPORT, SELF-RESPECT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN ADOLESCENTSThis study examined the relationships between parental support for physical activity, the frequency of weekly practice, and expectations of self-efficacy to overcome obstacles that impede such participation. We also analyzed whether the frequency of practice and perceived self-efficacy were different according to the participant’s gender. A total of 430 students, from three secondary education centers in the province of Jaen and aged between 12 and 17 years (M = 13.96; SD = 1.39), took part in this study. The results showed that the boys and girls who attributed to their parents a high level of instrumental support, modeling, and behavioral limitation allocated a greater number of days a week to the performance of physical-sport activity during a minimum interval of 60 minutes. In addition, these were more self-efficacious to engage in such practice compared to those who perceived lower support rates in their parents. Finally, both the frequency of practice of activity and the self-efficacy attributed to being involved in activities of a physical-sport nature was greater in the case of male participants.Key words: parental support, adolescents, self-efficacy and physical activityResumen.Este estudio examinó las relaciones existentes entre el apoyo parental hacia la actividad física, la frecuencia de práctica semanal y las expectativas de autoeficacia para superar los obstáculos que dificultan dicha participación. Asimismo, se analizó si la frecuencia de práctica y autoeficacia percibida difería en función del sexo del participante. Un total de 430 estudiantes procedentes de tres centros de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria de la provincia de Jaén, con edades comprendidas entre los 12 y 17 años de edad (M = 13.96; SD = 1.39) tomaron parte en este estudio. Los resultados mostraron que los chicos y chicas que atribuían a sus progenitores un elevado nivel de apoyo instrumental, modelado y limitación de la conducta destinaban un mayor número de días a la semana a la realización de actividad físico-deportiva durante un intervalo mínimo de 60 minutos y se mostraban más autoeficaces para implicarse en dicha práctica en comparación con aquellos otros que percibían en sus progenitores menores índices de apoyo. Asimismo, tanto la frecuencia de práctica de actividad como la autoeficacia atribuida para implicarse en actividades de naturaleza físico-deportiva fue mayor en el caso de los participantes varones.Palabras clave: apoyo parental, adolescentes, autoeficacia y actividad física

The aim of the study was to find out The Degree of Practice of the Strategies for Teaching Arabic Language by Teaching Staff Members in the Jordanian Universities. In order to achieve this, the researcher designed a questionnaire distributed to 100 faculty members, which consisted of three areas: theories, approaches and strategies. The results of the study in the field of theories, which included (4) theories, showed that the theory of "top to bottom" was ranked first, while the "social cultural theory" ranked last. The results of the study in the field of linguistic entries, which included (7) entries, that the "traditional" entry was ranked first, while the "syntactic and skillful" came in last. The strategy area, which included 20 strategies, showed results in three levels: high, medium and low. The strategy of the "lecture" at the high level was ranked first by (9.338%), while the self-learning strategy at the same level was ranked last (6.614%). At the intermediate level, the "exchange strategy" (6.42%), while the "micro-teaching strategy" at the same level ranked last (3.696%). At the low level, the "self-accountability strategy" ranked first with 2.918% "At the same level last place by (0.194%) .

AbstractIntroduction. Nowadays, a professional image is an important element of the identity of individual professions. Its formation is a difficult process, dependent on many factors, including the use of new communication channels, such as social media, which in recent years have become a space for expressing social opinion, including those concerning individual professions.Aim. The analysis of the possibilities of using social media in shaping the image of nurses on the Internet.Material and methods. The study was carried out using the comparative method. The subject of the research were websites (fanpages) related to the professional environment of nurses on the social networking site Facebook.com, chosen deliberately according to the adopted criteria.Findings. During the research, differences in the strategy of administering the analyzed websites were identified, depending mainly on the subject matter and purpose of publishing the content. The topicality, visual attractiveness and cohesion were characterized by a high level. The posts appearing on individual websites were written in the language of the recipients, with different publication frequency. The websites created a long-term group of recipients and tried to influence the image of nursing in Poland in a positive way.Conclusions. Content published on social media can affect both the positive and negative image of the nurse in the public opinion. Among the factors that do not affect the image of nurses can be indicated, among others, offensive language of comments and displaying negative traits of nurses. Positive reception guarantees current knowledge in the field of nursing and emphasizing professional competences.

COVID-19 focuses the international strategic for the Public Health. The absence of a definitive treatment had carried to adopt several measures to control it. The biblical law affording leprosy is showing a defined epidemiologic strategic to control this illness. This strategy is focused in the value of the self inquest, the importance from the scientific research, the useful from the social isolate, the hygiene role in the prevention and the gradual insertion into the society post illness. These elements are showing that the epidemiologic strategic contained in The Bible for the leprosy control is effectively applicable to the COVID-19 control
