Soft magnetic materials are important functional materials in the electrical engineering, radio, and high-tech fields, but thin and brittle flakes present challenges to the manufacturing industry. In this study, the effect and mechanism of saccharin sodium in reducing the internal stress of Fe-Ni magnetic films were analyzed. The effects of the pH value, temperature, and the concentration of saccharin sodium on the deposition process of Fe-Ni alloys were investigated. The polarization curve of the Fe-Ni alloy deposition process was measured by using a multifunctional electrochemical workstation, and the morphology and crystal structure were measured by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that saccharin sodium significantly reduced the stress of the iron-nickel magnetic film; the mechanism through which the internal stress was reduced is analyzed in this paper. Briefly, the Fe2+ and the amino group of saccharin sodium synthesized a metal complex with positive charge on the surface of the electrode, which prevented the hydrogen ions from approaching the cathode and increased the discharge activation energy of the hydrogen ion, which reduced the hydrogen evolution and improved the internal stress of the coating. This research will help to solve the challenges of producing magnetic film, and promotes the application of new stress-reducing agents.

The subject of the research is the introduction of artificial intelligence as a technological innovation into the Russian economic development. The relevance of the problem is due to the fact that the Russian market of artificial intelligence is still in the infancy and the necessity to bridge the current technological gap between Russia and the leading economies of the world is coming to the forefront. The financial sector, the manufacturing industry and the retail trade are the drivers of the artificial intelligence development. However, company managers in Russia are not prepared for the practical application of expensive artificial intelligence technologies. Under these circumstances, the challenge is to develop measures to support high-tech projects of small and medium-sized businesses, given that the technological innovation considered can accelerate the development of the Russian economy in the energy sector fully or partially controlled by the government as well as in the military-industrial complex and the judicial system. The purposes of the research were to examine the current state of technological innovations in the field of artificial intelligence in the leading countries and Russia and develop proposals for improving the AI application in the Russian practices. The paper concludes that the artificial intelligence is a breakthrough technology with a great application potential. Active promotion of the artificial intelligence in companies significantly increases their efficiency, competitiveness, develops industry markets, stimulates introduction of new technologies, improves product quality and scales up manufacturing. In general, the artificial intelligence gives a new impetus to the development of Russia and facilitates its entry into the five largest world’s economies.

Internal control plays a role in risk prevention for firms when dealing with serious emergencies, which ensures the sustainable development of firms during a crisis. Based on the rapid outbreak of COVID-19 in China, this paper empirically tests whether internal control alleviates the negative impact of the pandemic on firm performance. Using a sample of Chinese listed firms from the first quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2020 and employing the difference-in-difference (DID) method, we find that the firms with a higher quality of internal control achieve better financial performance during the pandemic period; the more serious the pandemic is, the more obvious effect internal control plays. Furthermore, we consider the industry heterogeneity and firm heterogeneity of the risk resistance effect of internal control. In the manufacturing industry, which is a “disaster zone” of the pandemic, and the non-high-tech industry with a low degree of digitization, internal control can play a more important role in firms’ performance. Moreover, for state-owned enterprises, and firms with strong financing constraints, the role of internal control is more prominent. The above results provide empirical evidence for the risk prevention function of internal control and shed new light on the measures for firms to resist emergencies in the future.

Relying on the economic complexity and product space approach developed by Hidalgo and Haussmann [21], and using trade data, exporters' financial reports and available macroeconomic statistics, we try to assess the degree of transformation of structure and production potential of the Serbian economy over the last decade. We argue that although the overall economic complexity, as a decent predictor of higher economic growth, did slightly improve over the observed period, there is still large untapped potential in local knowledge and know-how. FDI inflow into manufacturing industry, as the most important factor of the transformation of the production structure and size of the economy, has contributed to growth in employment and export, improving the macro stability. On the other side, its contribution to the higher growth outlook by improving the production capacity was limited as FDI inflow has been directed mostly into low and medium-low technology industries with low complexity products. Moreover, it seems that the vertical spillover through linkages with local suppliers and transfer of technology, knowledge and practices could also be larger. In the same period, some positive developments of limited scale yet are reflected in emergence of a certain number of high-tech industries' products with high complexity, most likely produced by SMEs, such as electrical equipment, lighting, various software embedded devices, etc.

Owing to the unique microporous structure and high specific surface area, porous carbon could act as a good carrier for functional materials. In this paper, polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based porous carbon materials (PPC-0.6-600, PPC-0.8-600, PPC-0.6-800 and PPC-0.8-800) were prepared by heating KOH at 600°C and 800 o C for the removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution. The adsorbent was characterized by the techniques of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), elementary analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and N 2 adsorption techniques. The results showed that the adsorption capacity increased with decreasing pH value of the initial solution. The adsorption capacity of Cr(VI) on PPC-0.8-800 was much greater than that on other materials, and maximum adsorption capacity were calculated to be 374.90 mg g −1 . Moreover, PPC-0.8-800 had superior recyclability for the removal of Cr(VI) from wastewater, about 82% of its initial adsorption capacity was retained even after five cycles. The result of kinetic simulation showed that the adsorption of Cr(VI) on the PAN-based porous carbon could be described by pseudo-second-order kinetics. The adsorption process was the ionic interaction between protonated amine groups of PPC and HCrO 4 - ions.

The correspondence of the current concept of industrial policy of Russia and the tools for its implementation to the solution of the strategic task — the full provision of the needs of the state and the population with industrial goods in the context of the recession of the world economy is considered. It is shown, that government support for the manufacturing industry is not aimed at creating conditions for the accelerated development of the high-tech sector, and the inconsistency of its production structure with the structure of the domestic market for industrial goods in Russia limits the economic effectiveness of domestic production. Prospective directions of government support for the development of the manufacturing industry are substantiated. Purpose – The purpose of this study was to identify the key third-party logistics (3PL) selection criteria for the integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing industry in Taiwan. The IC manufacturing industry seeks global sourcing, and is facing increasing pressure due to fierce market competition. More than a cost reduction strategy, 3PL is a strategic tool for IC manufacturers to gain a competitive advantage in a global supply chain complex. Design/methodology/approach – The triangulation method that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches was used in the study. The qualitative approach of focus group discussions was adopted to establish the decision framework, and the quantitative approach of the analytic hierarchy process was used to explore the relative importance of the 3PL selection criteria. Finally, an in-depth proof-by-example interview was undertaken to provide an insightful interpretation of the research results. Findings – The research shows that performance is the most important criterion group, followed by cost, service, quality assurance, intangible and information technology. At the detailed sub-criteria level, document accuracy, problem-solving capability, continuous cost reduction, value-added services and associated cost control capability are the top five criteria. Research limitations/implications – This study focused on the IC manufacturing sector in Taiwan. Multi-country and multi-industry studies are recommended to help further validate and generalise the research findings. Originality/value – Due to its application of triangulation, this study is a pioneering work on the 3PL selection criteria in a high-tech manufacturing industry. Furthermore, the value of this research is that it enhances the body of knowledge of 3PL selection by identifying certain emerging selection criteria, it could serve as a guideline for IC manufacturers in planning logistics outsourcing actions and it could significantly contribute to the efforts of 3PL providers in evaluating whether they comply with customer needs and adhere to core competency development.

The current development stage of globalization process and market reforms in the industrial sector of the national economy requires from scientists and practitioners to design qualitatively new approaches to formation of the strategic development in different economy branches for geopolitical evaluation of threats and challenges. Technological backwardness in Russia increases comparing to developed countries. The poor participation of Russia in international scientific and technical exchange is explained by inconsistent government policy on development and use of intellectual potential, modernization and improvement of manufacturing industry competitiveness, promotion of high-tech products at foreign markets. Reported problems are observed in the pharmaceutical industry, industrial-technological system, which is now almost destroyed, leading to a critical level of dependence on drug imports. However, the pharmaceutical industry as one of the most high technology industries can lead to innovation development in Russia.
