This article discusses the relationship between the human capital of the participants of the Yayasan Sejahtera project that consists of the components of knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the social empowerment of the participants. The discussion in this article emphasises the relationship of these two variables among participants in this project. Human capital is amongst the issues that are given attention due to it being a basic component in shaping and achieving sustainable community development. The formation of community social empowerment is a complex process that requires the community to have the knowledge and skills to generate the potential in the community and be used to regulate community activities that provide social shifts according to the community’s capabilities. This is a survey study with data collected using a questionnaire. Simple random sampling is used in the selection of respondents from 13 projects in three states, namely Kelantan, Sabah, and Sarawak. A total of 305 respondents were involved in this study according to the stages of the project area and state. Generally, this study found that there is a significant and moderate relationship between human capital and the social empowerment of project participants. It shows that development that focuses on human capital can increase competencies, capabilities, skills, knowledge, and experience among community members, which can then be described as humanitarian change. These changes are capable of impacting individuals’ ability to maintain social relationships in the context of their lives through relationships between other participants within the project involved, relationships built with project agencies, and relationships with parties or bodies outside the agency. Community empowerment is a complex process that requires the community to have the knowledge and skills to generate the potential that exists in the community. The existing empowerment in the community is able to defend the rights of the community and is not easily ridiculed, manipulated, nor deceived by any party.

In this chapter I argue that emotions are experienced primarily as structures of feeling which give meaning to relational experience. These feelings can be articulated through speech genres or discourses which give them form as specific emotions that have a place in the emotional vocabulary of a culture. Thus, I seek to distinguish between feeling and thought and attempt to trace the complex process through which feelings become emotions. This involves a reconsideration of the relation between body and thought, and the material and the ideal, as it appears in the work of various thinkers. Central to this is the role of image-schemata (Johnson, 1987) that mediate between the recurring relational patterns of bodily activity in the world, which makes experience meaningful, and the symbolic structures of the social group that can be used to articulate bodily feelings metaphorically. Feelings and emotions, then, while in a complex relationship to one another, are not always identical: they can in fact diverge, giving rise to the ambiguous nature of much emotional experience. Finally, all of this is considered in the light of power relations and the way that emotional dynamics play a central role in power. Anglo-Saxons who are uncomfortable with the idea that feelings and emotions are the outward signs of precise and complex algorithms usually have to be told that these matters, the relationship between the self and others, and the relationship between self and environment, are, in fact, the subject matter of what are called ‘feelings’— love, hate, fear, confidence, anxiety, hostility, etc. It is unfortunate that these abstractions referring to patterns of relationship have received names, which are usually handled in ways that assume that the ‘feelings’ are mainly characterized by quantity rather than by precise pattern. This is one of the nonsensical contributions of psychology to a distorted epistemology (Bateson, 1973: 113).

Plempoh Cultural Tourism Village possesses a unique attraction such as natural resources and cultural heritage. Collaborating with the government, entrepreneurs, academicians and media, a group of tourism awareness called Pokdarwis Prabu Boko appears to be the central group behind every development of the Plempoh Cultural Tourism Village. However, previous research reveals that poverty still appears in this village, there is lack of community confidence and knowledge related to tourism; and lack of community participation in developing the village. This research aims to study the realization and the level of community empowerment in terms of economical, psychological, social and political aspect. This research used qualitative paradigm with descriptive method and purposive sampling technique. Data is collected using interview technique, observation and documentation. The data is then validated using source triangulation. The result shows that the community empowerment efforts undertaken by village stakeholders have not been optimal because some of the tourism village stakeholders still have not given strong commitment and they have not received trust from local communities. However, there are some evidence of community empowerment progress as follows: (1) the economic empowerment has now reached the fourth stage, namely support level. (2) the psychological empowerment is at the second stage, called reinforcement; (3) the social empowerment of the community is at its fifth stage, namely Maintenance, (4) the political empowerment is at the lowest level, namely possibility.

Abstract: The quality and level of job satisfaction among lecturers play a significant role in implementing transformation to improve the education system. The main reason for the decreasing of job performances among lecturers is due to the low level of job satisfaction. This study aimed to examine the relationship between a director’s transformational leadership style and the level of job satisfaction among lecturers at MARA Professional College. This is a survey study employing descriptive and inferential quantitative method.  The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) and Job Descriptive Index (JDI) instruments were distributed to 64 participants that were chosen using simple random sampling from the 75 population of MARA Professional College lecturers. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22. The findings revealed that the level of practice of the director on transformational leadership was low. In addition, there was a significant relationship between the transformational leadership practice of the director and the level of job satisfaction among lecturers at MARA Professional College. The level of job satisfaction among the lecturers was influenced by the director’s leadership practice, thus a director can increase the level of job satisfaction among the staff by practicing the transformational leadership style in managing a college. The findings are expected to assist the organization of MARA Professional College to identify the level of work pressure faced by the lecturers.   Keywords: Job Satisfaction, Higher Education, Transformational Leadership

AbstractObjective:This study aims to investigate whether there is a relationship between articulation levels and social skills of normally developing children at the ages of 4 and 5 years and to determine whether articulation levels and social skills are differentiated with regard to variable factors. Methods:A relational screening model was used in this study. Eighty-seven boys and 73 girls (160 children in total) who were educated at four preschools were selected according to simple random sampling in Kütahya province, Turkey. The mean age of the children was 4.6 years. The Ankara Articulation Test (AAT) was used to specify the articulation levels of children and the Preschool Social Skills Rating Scale [PSSRS, Okul Öncesi Sosyal Beceri Değerlendirme Ölçeği (OSBED)] was used to evaluate the social skills of the children.Findings:The results of the study revealed that the articulation mistakes decrease and social skills increase as the age of children rises. It was found that girls had better results in both social skills and articulation levels than boys. Analysis of the socio-economic statuses of the children showed no significant differences between articulation levels and social skills. Correlation analysis showed that children with articulation disorders have lower social skills rankings than children without articulation disorders, and speech is one of the factors that affect social skills ranking. Results:This study is important because of its observations about speech, communication, and social skills in children, as well as for raising awareness among parents and teachers of preschool children.

There is important literature that analyzes the relationship between entrepreneurship and economic growth. But it is also essential to consider the variables that influence entrepreneurship. In this sense, innovations, institutions, and human capital would be the main variables to consider, as they allow the entrepreneur to create new products, make them more competitive, or access new markets. At the same time, entrepreneurs establish the legal framework and the social climate to develop its activity, so innovations are generated and assimilated. But it is also essential to consider the degree of development and economic growth that countries present.
