The article deals with the analysis of the geographical toponymic lexicon existing among the Moksha-Mordovian population of the village of Staraya Binaradka in the Krasnoyarsk district of the Samara region. The Moksha-Mordovia geographical toponymic lexicon is characterized by a significant variety even in the dialects of neighboring settlements. It is shown that the formation of a geographical cluster of toponymic vocabulary in the dialects of the Moksha-Mordovian language is primarily influenced by the following factors: local phonetic, morphological and accentual features of the dialect; the historical and modern ethno-linguistic environment of the carriers of the studied dialect; natural and geographical conditions of the environment of the territory of residence of the carriers of the studied dialect. The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of the starobinaradsky geographical terminology area close to the Moksha-Mordvin dialects. Special attention is paid to the bakhilovsky dialect of the Moksha-Mordovian language, as it is known from archival materials that a significant part of the Mordovian population of the Staraya Binaradka was made up of immigrants from the village of Bakhilovo on the left Bank of the Volga river in the first half of the 18th century. The novelty of the research consists in the fact that up to the present time, the geographical toponymy vocabulary of the starobinskoe dialect of the Moksha-Mordvin language has not been introduced into the scientific circulation and has not been analyzed in the context of toponymic research. The study is based on field materials of the author.

The results of the survey of the territories of the village Braga in the Khmelnytsky region, which is in close proximity to Khotyn Fortress, are highlighted in this article. A general description of the sources that were the fortifications of the left bank of the Dnister River opposite the Khotyn Fortress according to the modern landscape, is presented.

В донском левобережье у с. Березовка Воробьевского района Воронежской области обнаружена случайная находка кованый медный котел. Статья вводит в научный оборот эту редкую находку. Задачи статьи поиск аналогий изделию, определение его типа, культурной принадлежности, хронологической позиции. Применяемый метод исследования включает определение типа предмета по аналогиям, сравнительный анализ, синтез. В результате установлено, что литой медный котел, найденный у с. Березовка, принадлежит к группе котлов типа debelt , выделенного Б. А. Раевым. Среди известных в настоящее время экземпляров этот котел отличается рядом особенностей и ближе всего к оригиналам из Помпей. Наиболее вероятной датой распространения данных котлов является втор. пол. I II в. н. э. Однако вероятно, что время их бытования шире и охватывает также вторую половину II III в. н. э. Подобные изделия встречаются в погребениях сарматской знати. Автор делает выводы о том, что котел из Березовки уникальное по ряду признаков изделие, аналогии которым известны в Помпеях использовался в среде сарматов вероятно, датируется втор. пол. I II в. н. э., а возможно, по III в. включительно. A hammered copper cauldron was discovered as a chance find near the village of Berezovka in the Vorobyevsky district, Voronezh Region. The aim of this paper is to introduce this rare find into scientific discourse. The task of this paper is to search for analogies of the cauldron, determine its type, cultural attribution and chronological positions. The methods employed by the study included determination of the type of the item on the basis of analogies comparative analysis and synthesis. As the results of the study demonstrate, this hammered copper cauldron discovered near Berezovka is referred to the debelt type of cauldrons singled out by B. A. Rayev. Compared to the known cauldrons of this type, this cauldron has a number of specific traits and shows more similarities with cauldrons from Pompeii. The second half of the 1st 2nd centuries is the most likely period when such cauldrons were used. However, the timeline when these cauldrons were in use is probably longer and includes the second half of the 2nd 3rd centuries AD as well. This type of cauldrons has been found in the tombs of the Sarmatian elite. The Berezovka cauldron is a unique item in terms of some of its traits, it finds analogies in Pompeii. This cauldron was owned by the Sarmatians during the second half the 1st 2nd centuries and, possibly, up to and including the 3rd century.

The Khoshmenzil Wall is a new archaeological site discovered in the lower reaches of the river. Rubas, on the northern outskirts of the village. Rubas of Derbent region of the Republic of Dagestan. It received its designation from the old name of the village located in the place of its location - with. Hochmenzil [Nice place]. The archaeological site is the 6th section of a stone wall preserved on a country road in the northern outskirts of the village. Rubas.The article presents materials from the exploration excavations of this monument, carried out in 2020. The purpose of the research was to determine the functional belonging of the construction site, establish its dating and possible belonging to the barrage defensive line noted in written sources of the mid-18th century. in the lower reaches of the river. Rubas. The relevance of the study was due to the development of the problem of the structure and layout of a large defensive complex of the middle of the 6th century. - Rubas fortification, located 2 km to the west on the left bank of the river. Rubas.The tasks of excavating a new archaeological site were to identify the structure and layout of the structure, to determine the technology of its construction and the degree of preservation.The construction is a section of a stone wall, erected by armour-clad technique from processed stone blocks. The southern facade of the wall with a length of 3.6 m and an adjoining section of backfilling, including torn stone and lime mortar, have been preserved. The stone blocks of the wall are installed using the "poke-spoon" technology. The base of the wall is placed on a stone fill, consisting of torn stone, filled with lime mortar. The height of the preserved section of the wall is 0.6 m. The section of the wall is located on the left bank of the river, it is oriented along with its channel (W – E).The preliminary dating of the monument was determined by the features of the facade design and masonry technology within the middle of the 6th century.

The article considers the historical and cultural heritage of villages of the former Ketskaya volost, which is currently a part of the Tomsk region. The formation of Ketsky prison and the architecture of large settlements of the former Ketskaya volost are studied. Little is known about the historical and cultural heritage of villages of the Tomsk region and the problems of preserving historical settlements of the country.The aim of this work is to study the formation and development of the village architecture of the former Ketskaya volost, currently included in the Tomsk region.The following scientific methods are used: a critical analysis of the literature, comparative architectural analysis and systems analysis of information, creative synthesis of the findings. The obtained results can be used in preparation of lectures, reports and communication on the history of the Siberian architecture.The scientific novelty is a study of the historical and cultural heritage of large settlements of the former Ketskaya volost, which has not been studied and published before. The methodological and theoretical basis of the study is theoretical works of historians and architects regarding the issue under study as well as the previous  author’s work in the field.It is found that the historical and cultural heritage of the villages of the former Ketskaya volost has a rich history. Old historical buildings, including religious ones are preserved in villages of Togur and Novoilinka. The urban planning of the villages reflects the design and construction principles of the 18th century. The rich natural environment gives this area a special touch.

Introduction. One of the regions of compact settlement of the Mordovian people is the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Mordovian population of the region was formed during the resettlement migration process of the ethnic groups to the Bashkir lands in the 17th and early 20th centuries. There is a small stand-out group of Mordva-Erzya in Bashkiria. They call themselves Murza and they have their own identity. They live in the village of Kozhay-Andreevo in the Tuimazinskiy district and in the village of Kozhay-Maximovo in the Ermekeevskiy district. Materials and Methods. This work attempts to reconstruct the history of formation of the class community of Mordva-Murza and to identify its ethno-cultural features. The study is based on the principle of historicism; the main methods are historical-genetic, comparative-historical, and problematic-chronological. Results. Based on the study of published sources and literature, it is shown the chronology and the main stages of the formation of the Mordva-Murza community in Bashkiria. It was revealed, this community was formed on the basis of a resettlement group of the Mordovian sluzhilye-served people in the 18th century. Field ethnographic materials testify to their ethno-cultural identity. Discussion and Conclusion. Mordva living in the villages under consideration can be defined as a separate ethnic-class community, which has its own identity, self-name, specific linguistic and ethno-cultural characteristics. In their language and culture, it is interweaved both Erzya and Moksha traits. Almost disintegrated in the 1980s the community of the “Kazhay Murzas” began to revive in the year of 2000. The observations show the desire of the inhabitants and natives from these villages to preserve and develop their “Murza language” and traditions.

The anthropological composition of the population buried at the cemetery of the Scythian Age near Svitlovodsk city (Kirovograd region) is analyzed in the paper. The burial ground is located on the border of the Forest-Steppe and Steppe Zones of the Right Bank of the Dnieper. The anthropological material under study comes from cemetery without mounds. Archaeologists date the main massif of burials to the 4th century BC. The anthropological composition of the population that was buried at this burial ground was not homogenous. The male series of skulls is characterized by a long, medium-wide, high, dolichocranic skull. The face is of medium size, it is mesognathic. The horizontal profile of the face at the upper level is medium, but with a tendency to the sharp; at the middle level, the face is strongly profiled. The orbital and nasal indexes are medium. The bones of the nose are moderately protruding. The average characteristics of the male population fit into the range of variations of the Scythian series. The male series belongs morphologically and statistically to the circle of the steppe Scythian groups. The male group from the burial ground near the city of Svitlovodsk is close to the series from the Nikolaevka burial ground on the Dnister River, the group of skulls from the burial mounds near the village of Shirokoe (Left Bank of the Dnieper River), the group of skulls from the burial mounds near the village of Vyshchetarassivka, a series of skulls from the Mykhailivka burial ground. Of the forest-steppe series, only the combined group of skulls from the Trypillya region is somewhat close to it. All these statistically and morphologically similar groups originate from different territories. This illustrates the specifics of the settlement and demonstrates the mobility of the Scythian groups. The female series from the burial ground is characterized by a long, narrow, medium-high skull, mesocranic in shape. The size of the face is small, it is mesognathic. The horizontal profile of the face at the upper level is moderate, at the zygomaxilar level it belongs to the category of sharp, but with a tendency to moderate. The orbital index is medium, the nasal index belongs to the large category. The bones of the nose are medium protruding. The female series from Svitlovodsk burial ground turns out to be the most gracile among the Scythian series in Ukraine. For this reason, it differs significantly from the entire massif of the steppe Scythian series. The closest to the Svitlovodsk series is a group from mounds near Nikopol.

The village of Tatopani lies on a small gravel terrace in the middle reach of the Kali Gandaki River, along a narrow course of about 2 km in length. One kilometre south of the village, a major rockfall occurred recently in the region of the Lesser Himalaya, which is built up of low-grade metamorphic rocks of the Kuncha Group, consisting of a thick sequence of foliated phyllites and bedded quartzites as well as interlayering of both lithologies. The monoclinal structure of these metasedimentary rocks is clearly related to the general trend of the Nepal Himalaya near the Main Central Thrust (MCT): strike NW-SE 140- 150°, dip 25-45° NE. Besides a clear foliation in the phyllites (s1) parallel to the quartzite bedding (s0), four other discontinuities are also developed as steep joints (j1-j4). Two joint sets j1 and j2, both crossing each other and both acting in conjunction with the foliation (s1) as a shear plane, were responsible for the wedge failure of the Tatopani Landslide, which led to a rockfall and avalanche of about 400,000 cubic metres and dammed the river for about 72 hours. It is noteworthy that several other - strikingly similar but older - weathered wedge failure surfaces are exposed at various spots all over the same ridge, which is the spur-ridge dividing the Kali Gandaki River from the Gar Khela tributary. This visible slope instability evidenced by relatively small wedge failures is causally connected with a much larger mechanism, namely mass rock creep or "sagging"- a purely gravitational slope deformation. The repeatedly occurring wedge failures producing landslides (rockfalls and rock avalanches) are caused by extreme shear stress and deep-reaching joints and fissures during mass rock creep. Only the final trigger for landslides or rockfalls is provided by extreme and lengthy monsoon rainstorms, which reinforce the cleft-water pressure inside rock discontinuities and openings, especially along the impermeable interface of quartzites and phyllites (s0 =s1) at the base of the wedge failure. The right (western) bank above the village is morpho-dynamically active also through mass rock creep and “pushes” laterally against the river course. However, the kinematics of the rock slope is rather different because the foliation geometry is more important. The foliation dips obliquely towards the riverside and consequently has facilitated extremely slow large­ scale dip slope movements along quartzite-phyllite interfaces (s0) without any catastrophic danger. However, the creeping slope movements of thick quartzite: members caused a set of conjugate extension faults producing toppling at the distal slope margins. Rock avalanches from the spur-ridge on the eastern (left) bank of the Kali Gandaki River S of Tatopani will always remain a threat, especially when excessive seasonal rains increase the cleftwater pressure inside the invisibly slow creeping system of the steep bank in an extraordinary manner.

This paper aims at reconstructing the genealogy of Siberian Tatars of Knyazevs (Western Siberia), identifying the origins of their surname, which is not characteristic of the Tatars, and at analysis of the influence of socio-political and socio-economical processes in Russia in the 18th through 20th centuries on the social transformation of the family. The sources were represented by the materials of the Inventory Revision Book of Tarsky District of 1701 and census surveys of the end of 18th through 19th centuries, which allowed tracing the Knyazev family through the genealogical succession and identifying social status of its members. In this work, recordkeeping ma-terials of the 18th–20th centuries and contemporary genealogical and historical traditions of the Tatars have been utilized. In the research, the method of genealogical reconstructions by archival materials and their correlation with genealogies of modern population has been used. The history of the Knyazev family is inextricably linked to the history of modern village of Bernyazhka — one of the earliest settlements of the Ayalintsy (a group of the Si-berian Tatars) in the territory of the Tarsky Irtysh land which became the home to the Knyazevs for more than three centuries. The 1701Inventory Revision Book cites Itkuchuk Buchkakov as a local power broker of the Aya-lynsky Tatars in the village. During the 18th century, this position was inherited by his descendants who eventually lost this status in the beginning of the 19th century in the course of the managerial reforms by the Russian gov-ernment. Nevertheless, the social status of the members of the gens remained high. In the mid. 19th century, the village moved — the villagers resettled from the right bank of the River Irtysh onto the left one. As the result, the village was situated nearby the main road connecting the cities of Omsk and Tara. At the same time, the village became the center of the Ayalynskay region. That led to the strengthening of the social status and property en-richment of the descendants of Itkuchuk Buchkakov. The Knyzevs’ surname first appeared in the materials of the First All-Russia Census Survey of 1897. Some of the descendants signed up under this surname later in the Soviet period. During the Soviet years, members of the Knyzev’s gens had different destinies: some worked in the local government, whereas the others were subjected to political repressions and executed. Knyazevs took part in the Great Patriotic War and seven of them perished. Presently there are no descendants of the Knyazevs in Bernyazhka as they spread over the villages of the Omskaya Region, some living in Omsk and other towns of Russia and abroad.

Purpose. There are many archaeological sites located in the North Angara region. Although this territory has been investigated since 18th century, most intensive work was done during rescue archaeological works on Boguchany hydroelectric power station in 2008–2011. One of the valuable sources of artifacts is the Kutarey site. Our work contains a brief analysis of stone industries of the Kutarey River Mouth site. The main goal of this work is to apply technical and typological analysis to mark the specificity of the stone industries of layer 2 of the Kutarey River Mouth site in comparison with the results that had been previously published on layer 3 in the context of new data of this region in terms of ceramics complexes. We introduce a previously unpublished collection of stone artifacts of layer 2 of the Kutarey River Mouth site, which significantly extends the source base of the Neolithic and Bronze Age in this region. Results. The Kutarey River Mouth site is located on the left bank of the Angara River, 15 km down from the Kezhma village, on the right bank of the Kutarey River. The location was found in 1974 by N. I. Drozdov and his squad. The site was further investigated in 2008 and in 2010 by an IAE SB RAS squad (guided by A. N. Savin). Firstly, the site was determined as a Neolithic location, but as result of 2010 excavations three Neolithic-Middle Age cultural horizons were discovered. In the context of the difficulties connected with conducting investigations in this region, namely an open location, a low stratigraphy situation, a high extend of technogenic interruption, the materials of layer 3 are most perspective due to a high grade of saturation of the artifacts and minimal technogenic interruptions. These materials belong to the Neolithic and Paleometal Era. In order to clarify cultural and chronological specificity of this complex, it is necessary to analyze materials from layer 2. The stone industry of layer 2 is represented by retouching microblades, bladelets, tools for blades, flakes, scrapers including one microscraper, bifaces, several adzes, axes, and one piercing tool. Of special interest are blade points and trihedral and tetrahedral points. Conclusion. Our technical and typological analyses show that in comparison to layer 3, layer 2 is characterized by a small number of massive axes and adzes, no flints, few double scrapers, and only volume splitting tools aimed mainly at obtaining a small blade. Also, despite the fact that the core of the collection is the product of the hornstones of local origin, we observe a significant increase in the percentage of artifacts made of flint (13 %), which may indicate some new commodity strategies. The most interesting analogy can be traced with the dedicated Upper Kolyma Early Holocene complex, which contained blade points widely distributed in Northeast Asia and was present directly or indirectly in the materials from Chukotka (Verkhnetirsky IV and Nizhnechutinsky IV), Yakutia (Olbinski burial ground, Jubilee), Kamchatka (the Ushki I–IV layer, Avacha 1,9). This complex is believed to belong to specific Volbinsky traditions, which formed in the first half of the Holocene, about 8800–6000 years ago. It is also worth comparing these materials with other Kutarey sites – Sen’kin (Siniy) Kamen’, Ruchei Povarny, Gora Kutarey and adjacent territories.
