Teaching Tourism Communication Skills through Guessing Game at Porodisa Learning Center Manado

Although English is taught in all levels of education in Indonesia starting from Primary Education, English command of the majority of students is poor after learning for at least 6 years during the Junior and Senior High School levels or for the total of 10 years for other students who study English starting from the third grade of Elementary School or even for 11 years for those who go to university and have English subject for two semesters. This poor result is, of course, caused by many factors such as the teacher, the student, the curriculum, the facility, the methodology, etc. Considering that methodology might be one of the causes of failure, the researchers applied guessing game in teaching communication skills at Porodisa Learning Center Manado. The objectives of this research are to find out whether Guessing Game (1) is effective to motivate the students to communicate in English, (2) can improve the students’ grammatical command, and (3) can increase the students’ vocabulary. The method used in this research was qualitative method and the data analysis used was descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through guided interview, observation and documentation while the sample was taken using purposive sampling technique. The results of the research show that: Guessing game is very effective for teaching communication skills. This game can also improve the learner’s grammatical command and it is also useful for increasing the learners’ vocabulary.

Purpose of the study: This study aims to develop an honesty model of education in a school, especially to convey the stages, facilities, and infrastructure needed to carry out honesty education in a school. Methodology: This study used a qualitative method in a case study approach. Data collection was conducted in five ways, namely direct observation, observer as a participant, interviews, documentation, Soft and physical Devices The numbers of the participant were 29 teachers and 40 students. Activities in qualitative data analysis are carried out interactively and continuously and are holistic in nature. Therefore data analysis this study uses 3 steps to analyze research data. first, data reduction. Second, display data, the third is conclusion drawing or verification. Main Findings: The results of this research show that honesty culture can be implemented with a strong school system and with stages clearly. Applications of this study: This study can be useful in moral education or character building for students in a school Novelty/Originality of this study: The process of implementing honesty culture takes place through 4 stages. The first is protection, the second introduction, the third habituation inside and outside the classroom, and the fourth celebrations. The school compiles programs, policies and provides facilities and infrastructure that are oriented to the formation of an honesty culture for students and for all school members.

This study aims to determine the location of the difficulties that cause difficulties in learning algebra in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Kerinci. This study uses a qualitative method with a population of all eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Kerinci. The sample of this study was 9 students of class VIII A and 9 students of class VIII B selected through sampling techniques. The sampling technique used is using a nonprobability sampling technique that is a purposive sample. Data obtained from tests and interviews. The data analysis technique is data reduction and data presentation.

Cohesive devices in a piece of writing serve to unify sentences within a text. Building upon Halliday and Hasan’s (1976) Cohesion in English, this study aimed to identify and classify cohesive devices and also to discover the effects of cohesion overuse and underuse found in synopsis writings written for Book Report 1 and Book Report 2 assignment. The data were collected from 40 synopsis writings produced by the 4th and 5th semester students of English Study Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada. The data analysis applied a qualitative method and the data collection used purposive sampling technique. The findings showed that reiteration was the most prominently used type and followed by reference, conjunction, and collocation with the frequency 2,193 (56.94%), 1,405 (36.48%), 64 (2.92%), and 252 (6.54%) times respectively. Other types with low occurrences were elliptical and substitutional cohesion that occurred 3 (0.078%) and 2 (0.051%) times respectively. In some cases, students tended to overuse and underuse cohesive devices. In terms of cohesion overuse, in some cases, the use of reiteration leading to lexical redundancy and monotonous sentences. And in cohesion underuse, the lack of using personal reference and temporal conjunction yielding ineffective and less cohesive sentences. The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the analysis of the ability to understand cognitive mathematics in the material "angles" when using video learning with an online system in class IV B SDN Pintukisi Sukabumi City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. The writer acts as an instrument for collecting data. Data analysis techniques used are according to Miles and Huberman which consists of data reduction, data display, and Conclusion Drawing/Verification. The research subjects used were grade IV B students in the 2019/2020 school year. The number of students is 20 people. The results showed how to understand mathematics in the angles material, 2 students got the highest grades and 12 students got grades less than KKM.The results revealed that the cognitive understanding ability of students in class IV B based on the first indicator can be categorized high, the second indicator is categorized high, and the third indicator can be said to be very low.

 The research objective is to find out  the Socioeconomic Of Community After The Development Of Olele Beach Tourist Attraction Olele Village Olele Villag Kabila Bone Sub-District Bone Bolango District. It applies a quantitative descriptive method while the data were collected through techniques of observasi, interview, and documentation. Research samples are determined by applying purposive sampling. Technique of processing data uses editing, sorting, tabulating, and interpreting. Meanwhile, technique of data analysis employes table of percentage and diagram. Findings of research show that the inpact of development of beach tourist attractionis positive on the change of livelihood or job, business opportunity, and community income. In addition, the developmentof Olele Beach Tourist Attraaction inpacts community positively as the open new businesses as employment opportunity around the spot such as food and drink stalls, other types of stalls, and bost whereas gazebo, snorkeling, and oksigen tank are othertypes new services that are for rent for the visitors or tourists. In total, 26 unit of new business have opened after the development, and they employ 34 people. Lastly, the change of socioeconomic after the devepolment of beach touist attraction in Olele Village is an increase of 26,4% in respondents’ incomes who open a new business opportunity.

The research aims to describe the functions of humor used in an American comedy movie The Boss. The subject of the research was American comedy movie The Boss. Descriptive qualitative method was used to conduct the research. Data collection was done through library research and documentation. Data analysis was done through identification, coding, classification and description. The researcher found several findings. Supported by Meyers theory of joke, there are 6 functions of jokes found in the movie such as to insult someone, to express anger, to tease someone, to relieve tension, to get attention, and to amuse others. The dominant function was differentiation particularly to insult and to express anger 21 times, the second was clarification particularly to relieve tension humorous lines and amuse others 15 times, the third was enforcement particularly to tease 18 times, and the last was identification particularly to relieve tension and to get attention 27 times. These functions were also analyzed and discriminated by different setting and participant based on formality and participants distance. According to the analysis, most jokes occurred in informal situation with intimate relationship among the participants and functioned to tease someone and to relieve tension. This finding also proves that American humor is expressed with more slapstick and vulgarity as the characteristic of American humor used in daily communication. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran komite sekolah dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan SMK negeri dan SMK swasta di Kabupaten Lamongan sebagai badan pertimbangan, badan pendukung, badan pengontrol, dan badan penghubung.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluasi. Populasi sebanyak 61 SMK (enam SMK negeri dan 55 SMK swasta). Sampel sebanyak 42 SMK (empat SMK negeri dan 38 SMK swasta) ditentukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan skala Likert. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Peran komite sekolah dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan SMK negeri secara keseluruhan termasuk dalam kategori baik. Peran yang paling tinggi adalah sebagai badan pertimbangan, kemudian sebagai badan pendukung, dan sebagai badan penghubung, sedangkan peran yang paling rendah adalah sebagai badan pengontrol. (2) Peran komite sekolah dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan SMK swasta secara keseluruhan termasuk dalam kategori baik. Peran yang paling tinggi adalah sebagai badan pendukung, kemudian sebagai badan penghubung, dan sebagai badan pertimbangan, sedangkan peran yang paling rendah adalah sebagai badan pengontrol. THE ROLESOF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN LAMONGAN REGENCY, EAST JAVAAbstractThis study is aimedat investigating the roles of the school committee in the implementation of state vocational high schools (VHS) and private VHSs in Lamongan Regency, as anadvisory agency, supporting agency, controlling agency, and mediator agency.This study isanevaluation. The population was 61 VHSs (six state VHSs and 55 private VHSs). A sample of 42 VHSs (four state VHSs and 48 private VHSs) was established using the proportional random sampling technique. The data collection used a questionnaire with Likert scale. The data analysis used the quantitative descriptive analysis.The results show as follows. (1) The overall role of the school committee in the implementation of state VHSs is in a good category. The highest is the role as the advisory agency, then the role as the supporting agency, and the role as the mediator agency, while the lowest is the role as the controlling agency. (2) The overall role of the school committee in the implementation of private VHSs is in a good category. The highest is the role as the supporting agency, then the role as the mediator agency, and the role as the advisory agency, while the lowest is the role as the controlling agency.

This research generally aims to give an idea of the extent of the VO2Max ability of the futsal team at SMA Negeri 22 Makassar. The subjects of this study were 20 students from the SMA Negeri 22 Makassar team, this sample was also called the "saturated sample". The sampling technique used in this study uses a total sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study are using observation sheets and bleep test forms. Research instruments in the study for data collection in this study using the Bleep Test. Data analysis techniques in the study used descriptive statistical analysis. The results of this study indicate that the ability of the VO2Max level of the futsal team at the 22nd High School Makassar Makassar is in the medium category with a mean value (42.375) with detailed data that is in the excellent criteria of 0 students (0%), on good criteria a number of 10 students ( 50%), students on the medium criteria were 10 people (50%) and students who were included in the criteria were poor and the criteria were very few at 0 students (0%). The conclusion of this study is the VO2Max level of the Futsal Team at SMA Negeri 22 Makassar is in the medium category.

<p>Preventing of nutritional anemia among adolescents is low, as evidenced by student a senior high school of 2 Banguntapan which Fe tablet consumption during menstruation is still low. So that is necessary knowledge of Fe tablet during menstruation further more. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and the consumption of Fe tablets during menstruation in adolescent. Analytical survey research design with cross secsional, a number of respondents was 64 with a total sampling technique. Instrument by questionnaire on knowledge and Fe tablet checklist to determine Fe tablet consumption. Techniques of data analysis using fisher excact. The results showed that there are only eight respondents (12.5%) whose consuming Fe tablet during menstruation with enough knowledge category. The results of bivariate analysis by fisher exact p-value=0.321 it’s showed that there was no relationship between knowledge with the consumption of iron tablets during menstruation in adolescent.</p>

This descriptive research aims to discover the students’ ability in solving question in Factual, Conceptual, Prosedural and Metacognitive dimension in class XI MIA of Senior High School in Enrekang District. The population of the research was all of the students class XI MIA of Senior High School in Enrekang Discrict which consisted of 39 classes with the total 907 students. The sample of the research was selected by using stratified purposive random sampling technique and obtained SMA 1 Alla, SMA 1 Anggeraja, SMA 1 Baraka, SMA Masalle and SMA Muhammadiyah Kalosi, 5 classes with the total 150 student. The instrument of the research were questionnaire and learning result test. The result of the research show that (i) the ability of the students in solving the question in factual dimension is in sufficient category; conceptual dimension is in low category; procedural dimension is in low category; metecognitif dimension is in very low category in class XI MIA of Senior High School in Enrekang Discrict; (ii) there is no difference in the achievement of factual, conceptual, and procedural ability of the school in the city or in the main road with the school in the suburb (out of town) and the favorite schools with non-favorite school; (iii) there are difference in the achievement of metacognitif ability of the school in the city or in the main road with the school in the suburb (out of town) and the favorite schools with non-favorite school; (iv) there are difference of the students’ leaning result of the school in the city or in the main road with the school in the suburb (out of town) and the favorite schools with non-favorite school.
