ABSTRACTHabitat of sponge Stylissa sp., were under the sea and these sponges contain active compounds, which are more active than the compounds produced by terrestrial plants. Antioxidants are inhibitors of oxidation reactions due to the free radicals, which can cause weak damage to unsaturated cells, cell wall membranes, blood vessels, DNA bases, and lipid tissue, that causing disease. The study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts  of sponge Stylissa sp., which is located on the Bangka Island, Likupang District, North Minahasa Regency. Sponge Stylissa sp., was extracted by maceration with using ethanol. Testing of antioxidant activity was carried out by the DPPH method measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the study showed that ethanol extracts of sponge Stylissa sp., has antioxidant activity in each concentration and the highest at a concentration of 100 mg / L. The conclusion is a ethanol extract of sponge Stylissa sp. have high antioxidant activity with a concentration of 25 mg/L (77,40%), concentration of 50 mg/L (85,63%), concentration of 75 mg/L (88,66%), and concentration 100 mg/L (88,96%). Key words: Stylissa sp. Sponge, Antioxidant, DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) ABSTRAKHabitat dari spons Stylissa sp. terdapat di bawah laut dan spons ini mengandung senyawa aktif yang persentase keaktifannya lebih besar dibandingkan dengan senyawa-senyawa yang dihasilkan oleh tumbuhan darat. Antioksidan adalah zat penghambat reaksi oksidasi akibat radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan lemah tak jenuh, membran dinding sel, pembuluh darah, basa DNA, dan jaringan lipid sehingga menimbulkan penyakit. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol biota laut spons Stylissa sp. yang terdapat di pulau Bangka, Kecamatan Likupang, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Spons Stylissa sp. ini diekstrak dengan metode maserasi menggunakan etanol. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan ini dilakukan dengan metode DPPH yang diukur dengan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak etanol spons Stylissa sp. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan disetiap konsentrasi dan yang tertinggi pada konsentrasi 100 mg/L. Kesimpulan yang didapat bahwa ekstrak etanol spons Stylissa sp. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi dengan konsentrasi 25 mg/L (77,40%), konsentrasi 50 mg/L (85,63%), konsentrasi 75 mg/L (88,66%), dan konsentrasi 100 mg/L (88,96%). Kata Kunci : Spons Stylissa sp., Antioksidan, DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil)

ABSTRACT Sponges are a component of coral reef biota that has bioactive compounds with a greater percentage of activity compared to compounds produced by terrestrial plants. This study aims to determine the presence of antioxidant activity in the ethanol extracts of sponge Ianthella basta from the waters of Tumbak Village. Ianthella basta sponge was extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant activity testing was carried out using the DPPH method with a concentration of 100 µg / mL, 75 μg / mL, 50 μg / mL, and 25 μg / mL and Vitamin C p.a as positive control. Each sample was made three repetitions of the test. Testing using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ethanol extract of the Ianthella basta sponge had antioxidant activity with a percentage of 48.73% at a concentration of 100 µg / mL. Keywords: Ianthella basta sponge, Antioxidants, Extraction, DPPH  ABSTRAK Spons merupakan salah satu komponen biota penyusun terumbu karang yang mempunyai senyawa bioaktif dengan persentase keaktifan lebih besar dibandingkan dengan senyawa-senyawa yang dihasilkan oleh tumbuhan darat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya aktivitas antioksidan di dalam ekstrak etanol Spons Ianthella basta dari perairan Desa Tumbak. Spons Ianthella basta diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH dengan konsentrasi 100 µg/mL, 75 µg/mL, 50 µg/mL, dan 25 µg/mL dan Vitamin C p.a sebagai kontrol positif. Masing-masing sampel dibuat tiga kali pengulangan uji. Pengujian menggunakan alat spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Ulva lactuca Algae habitat was found in shallow marine waters and its morphology is thin and flat thallus. Ulva lactuca Algae, known as sea lettuce, contains a lot of chlorophyll in its cells. Chlorophyll has the ability as a free radical scavenger and also has antioxidant activity. Antioxidants are compounds that could inhibit oxidation reactions by binding to free radicals and highly reactive molecules. This study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of Algae Ulva lactuca obtained from the Lembeh Strait, Bitung City. Ulva lactuca Algae was extracted by maceration method using ethanol solvent. Testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH method, which was measured using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ethanol extracts of Ulva lactuca Algae had antioxidant activity with a percentage value of 51.63% at a concentration of 100 mg/L. Keywords : Ulva lactuca Algae, Antioxidants, Ethanol, DPPHABSTRAKHabitat tumbuhan Alga Ulva lactuca terdapat di air laut dan morfologinya berupa thallus tipis dan gepeng. Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang dapat menghambat reaksi oksidasi dengan cara mengikat radikal bebas dan molekul yang sangat reaktif. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol Alga Ulva lactuca yang diperoleh dari Peraian Selat Lembeh, Kota Bitung. Alga Ulva lactuca diekstrak dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH yang di ukur menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-VIS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Alga Ulva lactuca memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai presentase sebesar 51,63% pada konsentrasi 100 mg/L. Kata kunci : Alga Ulva lactuca, Antioksidan, Etanol, DPPH

Antioxidants are compounds that can delay, reduce, slow down or inhibit oxidation reactions from free radical reactions. Antioxidants donate electrons to unstable free radicals so that these free radicals can be neutralized to not interfere with the body's metabolic processes. Red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa has potential as an antioxidant. The study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa against DPPH free radicals based on the IC50 value. Phytochemical testing and determination of antioxidant activity were carried out using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), which was carried out quantitatively using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the phytochemical screening of red seaweed ethanol extract contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and polyphenols and the IC50 value of red seaweed ethanol extract was 4.59 ppm, while the positive control for Vitamin C was 6.64 ppm. It was concluded that the ethanolic extract of red seaweed Galaxaura rugosa in the South Aceh District had high antioxidant potential, as evidenced by the small IC50 value of <50 µg/mL.Keywords: Antioxidants, Galauxara rugosa, phytochemicals, DPPH  ABSTRAKAktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang mampu menunda, memperkecil, memperlambat atau menghambat reaksi oksidasi dari reaksi radikal bebas. Antioksidan menyumbangkan elektron kepada radikal bebas yang tidak stabil sehingga radikal bebas ini dapat dinetralkan agar tidak mengganggu jalannya proses metabolisme tubuh. Rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa berpotensi sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa terhadap radikal bebas DPPH berdasarkan nilai IC50. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian fitokimia dan penentuan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) yang dilakukan secara kuantitatif menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil dari skrining fitokimia ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan polifenol serta nilai IC50 ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah sebesar 4,59 ppm sedangkan kontrol positif Vitamin C sebesar 6,64 ppm. Ekstrak etanol rumput laut merah Galaxaura rugosa di Kabupaten Aceh Selatan memiliki potensi antioksidan yang tinggi. dibuktikan dengan nilai IC50 yang yang kecil yaitu < 50 µg/mL.Kata kunci: Antioksidan, Galauxara rugosa, Fitokimia, DPPH

ABSTRACTDayak onion plant (Eleutherine americana Merr.) or commonly called forest onion is a typical plant of Central Kalimantan that has been used by local peoples for cure a various types of diseases. This study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant compounds from Dayak bulb ethanol extracts from Kotamobagu City. This research method is an experimental laboratory. Initially the Dayak bulb sample was extracted maceration with 96% ethanol solvent then evaporated until a thick extract was obtained. As a parameter, the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) was used to test the antioxidant activity of the samples at concentrations of 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 mg / L and as a comparison standard used Vitamin C with concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mg / L. The results obtained showed antioxidant activity in Dayak bulb ethanol extracts with IC50 values of 41.46 mg / L and on vitamin C IC50 values of 1.04 mg / L. Based on these results it can be concluded that the onion bulb ethanol extract has very strong antioxidant activity. Keywords: Dayak Onion bulbs, Activity, Antioxidant, DPPH  ABSTRAK Tanaman bawang Dayak (Eleutherine americana Merr.) atau biasa disebut bawang hutan merupakan tanaman khas Kalimantan Tengah yang sudah dipergunakan masyarakat lokal sebagai obat berbagai jenis penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas senyawa antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak yang berasal dari Kota Kotamobagu. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Awalnya sampel bulbus bawang Dayak diekstraksi maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96% kemudian dievaporasi hingga didapatkan ekstrak kental. Sebagai parameter, digunakan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) untuk pengujian aktivitas antioksidan sampel pada konsentrasi 50, 60, 70, 80 dan 90 mg/L dan sebagai standar pembanding digunakan Vitamin C dengan konsentrasi 2, 4, 6, 8 dan 10 mg/L. Hasil penelitian yang didapat menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 41,46 mg/L dan pada vitamin C nilai IC50 sebesar 1,04 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol bulbus bawang Dayak memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat. Kata kunci: Bulbus Bawang Dayak, Aktivitas, Antioksidan, DPPH

The effect of Cu2+ and Mg2+ metal ions on the antioxidant activity of anthocyanins of ethanol extract from the red dragon skin fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) has been done. Anthocyanin pigments from ethanol extract the red dragon skin fruit, content and antioxidant activity of anthocyanins from the red dragon fruit skin with ethanol solvent, and the effect of Cu2+ and Mg2+ metal ions on the antioxidant activity of anthocyanins. Identification of anthocyanin was done by identification of color test, using spectrophotometer analysis of UV-Vis and FTIR. The anthocyanin content was determined using pH difference method, and determined effect of metal ions extract was done by adding 50 ppm, 100 ppm, and 150 ppm of metal ions Cu2+ and Mg2+ into the anthocyanin extract that was been acidified by HCl , using spectrophotometer analysis of FTIR. Antioxidant activity test using DPPH method. The results show that ethanol extracts the red dragon anthocyanin by content is 12.5241 mg / L and antioxidant activity (IC50) is 0.478 μg / mL and with addition of2+ and Mg2+ metal ions can be increased antioxidant activity (IC50) of anthocyanins to be 0.2259 μg / mL for Cu2+ at concentration 50 ppm and 0.3351 μg / mL for Mg2+ at concentration 50 ppm.

Free radicals are one of the cause of various diseases. The use of synthetic antioxidant compounds could prevent the effect of the free radicals, however may cause adverse effects on the human body such as impaired liver, lung, intestinal and poisoning. Therefore antioxidant from natural resources needs to be developed. The purpose of this research was to determine the antioxidant activity and IC50 value of the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxbs.) leaves. Ganitri leaf ethanol extract activity test was carried out using DPPH method with vitamin C as a standard. Antioxidant activity was determined as a decreas in the absorbance of DPPH at 517 nm wavelength after an addition of the extract with the concentrations of 20, 40, 80, and 100 ppm. The antioxidant acitivity measurement of the ganitri leaf extract showed that the linier regression equation obtained was y = 0.3669x + 29.546, r = 0.4573 while the IC50 value was 54,12 ppm. Based on the result, it is concluded that the ethanol extract of ganitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.) leaf showed was categorized as strong antioxidant.

Antioxidant are compounds that are able to inactivate the development of the oxidation reactions of the molecules or neutralize free radicals. Mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) has properties as a medicinal plant. Through the phytochemical screening, the mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) contains antioxidant compounds such as alkaloids, saponins and phenolics. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of antioxsidant activity in the extract of mahogany bark (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.). using the DPPH method with a concentration of 250 mg / L, 200 mg / L, 150 mg / L and 100 mg / L and Vitamin C p.a as a positive control. Each sample made three repetitions of the test. The test uses a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya aktivitas antioksidan didalam ekstrak tanaman Kulit Batang Switenia mahagoni Jacq. menggunakan metode DPPH dengan konsentrasi 250 mg/L, 200 mg/L, 150 mg/L dan 100 mg/L dan Vitamin C p.a sebagai kontrol positif. Masing-masing sampel dibuat tiga kali pengulangan uji. Pengujian menggunakan alat Spektrofotometer UV-Vis. AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate antioxidant activity, total phenolic compounds and flavonoids of propolis from three provinces of Indonesia with two methods of extraction. Stingless bee propolis from Banten, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi was prepared through ultrasound-assisted extraction with water and ethanol solvents, separately. Antioxidant activity was measured by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were analyzed by Folin-Ciocalteu colorimetric and aluminum chloride (AlCl3) methods, respectively. The result showed that the antioxidant activity expressed as IC50 of Indonesian propolis ranged from 452.52 to 1027.29 mg/L. Ethanol extracts showed higher antioxidant activity than water extracts. Total phenolic and flavonoids content detected in the samples ranged from 10.00 to 28.65 mg/g GAE and 0.76 to 3.39 mg/g QE, respectively. The ethanol extract of propolis from South Kalimantan had the highest total phenolic contents, while that from South Sulawesi possessed the highest total flavonoids.

Drying is the most important step to keep the compound stability in simplicia and is very influential to produce good quality igredients in the antioxidant activity contained in the simplicia. Antioxidants are oxidation-free inhibitors of free radical reactions. Parijoto is one of the plants that have antioxidant compounds.This study aims to determine the effect of drying, concentration of antioxidant activity of parijoto (Medinilla speciosa Blume) fruit. The drying method used is direct sunlight drying, indirect sunlight and oven. The antioxidant activity of ethanol extract on drying method was determined by 2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhidrazyl (DPPH) method which is free radical. The qualitative test DPPH showed that the higher levels of ethanol extract from the three drying methods further diminished the color of DPPH solution in ethanol.The result showed thet the drying method gave different effect to the antioxidant activity of parijoto fruit which is significant(p0,05). Drying methods wich have high antioxidant activity are given by drying using oven method with an IC50 value 33,75µg/ml.

ABSTRACTAntioxidants have a function to scavenge and neutralize oxidation effect caused by free radicals by preventing the formation of radicals. Temu blenyeh (Curcuma purpurascens Bl) is one of the curcuma species which is still under-researched. Traditionally, temu blenyeh is used to treat stomachache, cough, itch, and skin infection. Some studies show that temu blenyeh extract had antioxidants activity and anti-cancer. The extract contains flavonoid, terpenoid, steroid, triterpenoid, essential oil. The study aimed to determine antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of temu blenyeh using DPPH method. Temu blenyeh was extracted by maceration with 96% ethanol solvent. The antioxidants activity test described that the value of IC50 was 48.697 ppm. Temu blenyeh diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Dalam penelitian uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol temu blenyeh menunjukkan hasil nilai IC50 sebesar 48,697 ppm.
