Milk is a nutrient - rich white liquid food produced by mammals and is mostly consumed by human beings in their day to day life. Milk contains various nutrients such as proteins, calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin K, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, lactose and minerals which are essential for the well being of the human beings. It is sometimes found that there is a presence of infective bacteria in raw milk. These bacteria may cause various diseases in human beings when consumed. This leads to poor health of the people causing economic burden to them along with disruption of their daily activities. Hence, it is essential to identify the presence of disease causing bacteria to analyze the quality of milk in real time , thereby preventing people from buying the infected milk. This work concentrates on identification of concentration of various gases that is produced in the infected raw milk by the disease causing bacteria . This spoilt milk also emanates bad odour and causes change in taste of milk. The proposed system uses PIC microcontroller and gas sensors to detect the concentration of various gases that are produced by various disease causing bacteria in raw milk and sends the data from the sensors to the user via Bluetooth for analysis. This system is very much helpful in real time due to the detection of disease causing microbes that may be present in raw milk which can be identified by the presence of ethanol, acetic acid, propane, methane and acetaldehyde gases, thereby preventing the use of spoilt milk by the people in milk diaries or at home.

The presence of yeasts in milk may cause physical and chemical changes limiting the durability and compromising the quality of the product. Moreover, milk and dairy products contaminated by yeasts may be a potential means of transmission of these microorganisms to man and animals causing several kinds of infections. This study aimed to determine whether different species of yeasts isolated from bovine raw milk had the ability to develop at 37°C and/or under refrigeration temperature. Proteinase and phospholipase activities resulting from these yeasts were also monitored at different temperatures. Five genera of yeasts (Aureobasidium sp., Candida spp., Geotrichum spp., Trichosporon spp. and Rhodotorula spp.) isolated from bovine raw milk samples were evaluated. All strains showed one or a combination of characteristics: growth at 37°C (99·09% of the strains), psychrotrophic behaviour (50·9%), proteinase production (16·81% of the strains at 37°C and 4·09% under refrigeration) and phospholipase production (36·36% of the isolates at 37°C and 10·9% under refrigeration), and all these factors may compromise the quality of the product. Proteinase production was similar for strains incubated at 37°C (16·81% of the isolates) and room temperature (17·27%) but there was less amount of phospholipase-producing strains at room temperature (15·45% of the isolates were positive) when compared with incubation at 37°C (36·36%). Enzymes production at 37°C by yeasts isolated from milk confirmed their pathogenic potential. The refrigeration temperature was found to be most efficient to inhibit enzymes production and consequently ensure better quality of milk. The viability of yeasts and the activity of their enzymes at different temperatures are worrying because this can compromise the quality of dairy products at all stages of production and/or storage, and represent a risk to the consumer.

Aims and objectives: This paper is a report of a study of experiences of people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) with their hospital admission. It evaluates how they perceive their treatment and care and the impact on their social life (school or work). Background: In The Netherlands, people with CF are hospitalized in seven CF centers. In general, hospitalization may raise several challenges concerning the patient’s psychosocial well-being, before, during and after the admission. The admission of people with CF is complicated, because of segregated treatment and care that aims to prevent hospital-based cross-infection. Design: This article reports on a qualitative study. Methods: Data were collected during 2009 and 2010. Nineteen people with CF admitted for more than 5 days in one of the seven Dutch CF-centres participated. Results and conclusions: The findings are organized into five contexts with subthemes: Before admission & Arrival (1); Treatment & Care (2); Room & Stay (3); Discharge (4); Social & Societal context (5). The findings show that patients express a need for enhancing the quality of some treatments, like intravenous injections and patients express normative expectations of professionals that directly relate to their psychosocial well-being, e.g. they want to be ‘seen’ and treated as human beings and not solely as patients. They desire segregation policies to be consistent, whilst simultaneously they prefer flexible segregation guidelines. In general, respondents are satisfied with hospital facilities. The study reports on challenges concerning continuation of school and work during the admission. The paper is relevant to every hospital where people are being nursed in isolation.

Today, the need for economic development is self-evident to the millions of people in Asia, Africa and Latin America who suffer from malnutrition, are ill-housed, poorly educated, and either unemployed or grossly underemployed. The ultimate objective of economic development is to raise the standard of life – the quality of life - for the mass of the people, to widen their area of choice, to open up new opportunities for human well-being. The less developed countries have two-thirds of the 3.5 billion people but receive only 12.5 percent of the world's gross national product. Life appears to be an economic treadmill with the future blighted by an excessive rate of population growth for millions of people. India provides a good illustration of the problem. With an estimated population of 525 million at mid-1968, India had 15 percent of the world's population, 2.4 percent of the world's land area, hardly 2 percent of the world's income, and an annual per capita income level of around $75.

The groundwater level and weather patterns and climate conditions are several of the very significant factors which influence the quality of livelihood and the other activity of the tropical peatland environment. The current method of groundwater level and meteorological information aggregate build the use of certain expensive weather station devices, prominent to a lack of vast monitoring suitable to cost barriers and disturbance in some countries. In this research, we have developed and implemented a hardware module based on an Arduino microcontroller and mobile communication, which measures the groundwater level and meteorological data, including air temperature, air humidity, and soil temperature, and humidity, rainfall in peatland area. The data groundwater level is received by a specially developed application interface running on an Internet of Things (IoT) connected through a Global Mobile System (GSM) communication. In this work, our proposed system is a model system that can able to generate alerts based on the real-time groundwater level and data weather as potential peat fire in Indonesia. It provides online and data real-time monitoring. In this works, we have resulted in a system to monitor the groundwater level and data weather alert, condition mapping, and warn the people from its disastrous effects.

The most pressing problems of the food industry today are the quality of food. The main factors influencing this indicator are the quality of raw materials, the technical and technological level of enterprises, the quality management system and food safety. Milk quality cannot be improved in the processing process, at best it can be stabilized, so the milk quality management system should focus on the technological processes of its production and primary treatment using a preventive approach. The sanitary and hygienic quality of milk production is a complex problem that is determined by a number of factors that combine the notion of "technology and culture of production". General bacterial contamination of milk raw materials should be considered as a collection of sources of ingress of microorganisms into the technological environment, in particular the microflora of the surface of the udder and lobes; microflora of udder channels; microorganisms of milking equipment, milk lines, milk packaging; microflora of personnel and environment. The traditional scheme of primary milk treatment provides a consistent picture of the quality and safety of raw milk obtained from its production. Measures to improve the quality and safety of raw milk through additional use of the decontamination process are proposed. The use of ultrasonic cavitation technologies for milk disinfection allows to increase the quality of milk and to get more money for the farm, to provide quality raw materials for dairy enterprises.

Raw milk quality is one of the most important factor before processing of milk and milk products. It is the main factor which is responsible for deciding the quality of end products. The present study was carried out at the selected BMC centre of a FPO owned dairy unit in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The principal objective of the study was to draw a comparison between BMC standards of NDDB and standards of selected BMC centre. The findings of the study show that there are no major deviations except delay in opening and closing timings for milk collection. As a result preparation time is reduced hindering the efficiency of milk collection process. BMC unit is well-being running manually by operator and switch was being turned off once BMC centre milk temperature touches 40C and starts at 60C, due to this delay in manual cutoff the milk is being crystallized. As per NDDB standards auto mode is recommended so that the BMC switches off automatically once the milk temperature reaches 40C and restarts at 60C at BMC centre.


With the ever-increasing rate of urbanization and organisations opting to discard biophilic designs for minimalist designs at the detriment of productivity, the natural environment has been cast-off as a critical feature in determining the quality of human life. It has been discovered that there is an innate desire for human beings to connect with nature, which is being described as biophilia. Thus, organisations are seeking innovative measures of integrating the natural environment into the workplace as it has been proven to enhance well-being and productivity while saving cost. The study area, Lagos state is a densely populated city whose rise in population has been poorly managed with increasing pollution levels that reduce the quality of life, which is why it is imperative for organisations to create a sustainable environment that enhances work activities. To this end, this study seeks to evaluate the implementation of biophilic design strategies in selected office buildings in Lagos, Nigeria. Data is obtained using questionnaires and analysed using both content analysis for qualitative data and descriptive statistics for quantitative data. Purposive sampling was used to select the buildings that were studied while the respondents were selected by means of the stratified sampling technique. The findings reveal that daylight is the most implemented biophilic design strategy. The benefits of biophilic integration have been reviewed, as well as areas for future research. With more attention being placed on conducive workplace environment this research helps to ascertain the most utilized biophilic design strategy and how it can be easily incorporated in buildings.

Multivariate analysis involves the application of statistical and computational methods to predict responses. Among the various methods of statistical analysis multivariate, the analysis by main components is highlighted to predict the composition and quality of food in general. The objective of this work was to characterize the milk producers of the municipality of Itapetinga-BA, using principal component analysis. Twenty samples of raw milk were used, collected at the reception of the dairy located in Itapetinga-BA. The variables analyzed were: fat, density, defatted dry extract, protein and lactose. The first two main components explained 87.24% of the total variation. It was verified the formation of different groups distributed in the four quadrants of the system. First quadrant stood out from the others by forming a group composed of ten producers in the analyzed region, characterized by presenting samples with higher lactose content and lower fat content in milk. The lactose and fat variables are of greater importance in the characterization of milk.

Every human being has the right to decent life but today there are elements in our environment that tend to militate against the attainment and enjoyment of such a life. The exacerbation of the pollution of environment can cause untold misery. Unhappiness and suffering to human beings, simply because of our lack of concerns for the common good and the absence of sense of responsibility and ethics for sustaining a balanced eco-system. If we are to aspire to a better quality of life – one which will ensure freedom from want, from disease and from fear itself, then we must all join hands to stem the increasing toxification of this earth. What we need in order to defuse this environmental time bomb is immediate concerted action of all the people, but such needed action will come only if we reorient such citizenry values, i.e., imbibe them with proper awareness and values (ethics), specifically those that will lead to a greater concern for preserving balance in the ecosystem, besides teaching them how to save the environment from further degradation, and to help, make it more healthful and progressive place to live in, springs from a strong sense of social responsibility.
