  Abstract The aim of this research is to find out the better method between context-clue and read aloud instruction to enhance students’ vocabulary. This research is quantitative research with comparative design. The research was conducted in SMPN 1 Cisarua, Bandung Barat. Population on this research was 8 grader of Junior High School and the sample was 8A grader that contain 30 students and 8B grader contain 32 students. 8A was given Context-Clue Instruction treatment and 8B was given Read Aloud Instruction Treatment. Statistic test that researcher used was Mann-Whitney Test. The result of this research showed there is no significant difference in enhancing vocabulary ability between students who are taught through context-clue instruction and students who are taught through read aloud instruction. This study was to measure the Van Hiele’s levels of geometric thinking attained by Ghanaian Junior High School Form 3 (JHS 3) students before writing the BECE. A quantitative research approach was employed in the study and a sample of 105 students randomly selected from the four schools. The results showed that 22 students (20.95%) of the students could not attain any VHG level at all, that means they were in level 0. 65 students (61.91%) of the students attained Van Hiele’s level 1, 17 (16.19%) reached level 2, and only 1 (0.95%) reached level 3. An independent t-test yielded no statistically significant difference between public and private school students in their geometric thinking levels t(103) = 0.926, p > 0.05. The findings indicated that most of the Ghanaian JHS graduates do not attain satisfactory levels of VHGT. Recommendations are made for improving the teaching of geometry.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan rintisan bank soal Bahasa Inggris SMP kelas VIII pada tingkat provinsi dengan memperhatikan (1) karakteristik soal Ulangan Kenaikan Kelas (UKK); (2) karakteristik butir-butir soal; (3) jumlah butir soal yang memenuhi standar. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengembangan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif. Sam-pel sebanyak 6554 respon siswa (lembar jawab). Perangkat tes dianalisis kesesuaian indikatornya dengan Standar Kompetensi (SK) dan Kompetensi Dasar (KD) yang telah ditentukan, serta ditelaah secara kualitatif oleh ahli berdasarkan kriteria kons-truksi, bahasa dan materi. Respons siswa dianalisis secara kuantitatif dengan Iteman 3.00, dan Bilog MG 3.0 3 PL untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang tingkat kesulitan, daya beda, pseudoguessing, serta informasi butir. Bank soal yang dihasilkan masuk kategori baik dilihat dari (1) Hasil analisis kualitatif dari 150 butir soal, sebanyak 105 butir soal (70%) dinyatakan baik. (2) Hasil analisis kuantitatif dengan program Iteman 3.00 diperoleh 115 butir soal tergolong baik. (3) Analisis dengan Bilog MG 3 PL 77 butir soal (66,96%) masuk kategori baik.Kata kunci: bank soal, tingkat kesulitan, daya beda, pseudo guessing, expert judgment, informasi butir dan tes______________________________________________________________ THE ITEM CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FINAL SEMESTER TEST AS A PREPARATION FOR ENGLISH ITEM BANKAbstract This research aims at developing a pilot english test item bank of the 2nd grade junior high school based on: (1) the characterisctics of test items for final semester test; (2) the total number of test items for the 2nd grade junior high school in Yogyakarta Special Province. This descriptive quantitative research used 6554 samples of students’ answer sheets in 2009 and also employs expert judgment to review the construct, language, as well as the materials of the questions. Students’ responses were also analyzed by using Iteman 3.00, Bilog MG 3.0 3 PL. The result of qualitative analysis with expert judgment which shows that 105 out of the 150 test items are categorized as “good”, and the other are “bad”. The quantitative analysis with Iteman 3.00 shows that 115 out of the 150 test items are categorized as “good” and the quantitative analysis with Bilog MG 3.00 3 PL shows that 67% test items are categorized as good. This article aims to describe the students' learning creativity profile reviewed from school's accreditation status. The method in this study was a survey method by distributing a questionnaire of students’ learning creativity through google form. Participants in the study were grade VIII students in public schools with National Standard School accredited status, schools with A accredited State Junior High School (JHS), and B accredited State Junior High School (JHS). Based on the results of data processing, there was a significant average difference in learning creativity on indicators the ability to deal with learning problems between public schools with National Standard School accredited status and schools with A accredited State JHS. The average ability to deal with learning problems is also significantly different between schools with A accredited State JHS, and B accredited State JHS. A significant difference in average is also shown in the indicators of interest in learning creations and indicators of the ability to develop in learning between public schools with National Standard School accredited status and schools with A accredited State JHS. The results of this study can be used as empirical data for research on guidance and counseling programs to develop students' creativity in schools.Keywords: Profile, learning creativity,  student

Objective We investigated scoliosis incidence among junior high school students in Zhongshan city, Guangdong, China and the expression of miR-30e among those with scoliosis. Methods A total 41,258 students were included. From July 2015 to December 2017, all students underwent screening including routine observation of the standing and sitting posture, Adam's forward bend test, dorsal tilt angle measurement, and X-ray examination. Age, sex, height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) were recorded. Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to assess miR-30e expression among students with scoliosis and 200 healthy students. Results Overall, 743 students were diagnosed with scoliosis, with an incidence rate of 1.80%. A total 646 (86.9%) students were diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis, 38 (5.1%) with congenital scoliosis, and 59 (7.9%) with other scoliosis types. Compared with healthy students, height was significantly greater whereas weight and BMI were significantly lower among students with scoliosis, and expression of miR-30e was significantly lower. However, no significant difference was found in height, weight, BMI, and mean Cobb angle between high/low miR-30e groups. Conclusion The incidence rate for scoliosis was 1.80%, Compared with healthy students, those with scoliosis were taller, had lower weight and BMI, and miR-30e expression was significantly downregulated.

Background: Osteochondral autograft transplant (OAT), a surgical treatment for capitellar osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), has favorable rates of elbow recovery and return to sports in adolescents. However, few reports have investigated how long patients continue to play baseball after OAT and their satisfaction with their treatment outcome. Purpose: To evaluate the rate of boys who played baseball and received OAT for OCD in junior high school or earlier (age <15 years) and continued to play baseball in high school and the players’ satisfaction with their elbow function during play. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: A total of 32 elbows of boys who played baseball and received OAT at age ≤15 years (mean, 14.1 years) were examined and divided into pitcher (n = 11) and nonpitcher (n = 21) groups according to their player position before surgery. The clinical Timmerman-Andrews score at the end of their high school baseball, participation percentage of players who continued to play baseball, and satisfaction level during play (on a scale of 0-10 during pitching and batting and in a 4-choice format) were compared between the 2 groups. Results: The Timmerman-Andrews scores significantly improved after surgery in both groups, with no significant difference between the groups. Of the 32 players, 30 (93.8%) continued to play baseball throughout high school, including all players in the pitcher group and 19 (90.5%) of those in the nonpitcher group. The percentage of players who continued to pitch was 55.6% (6/11) in the pitcher group. Satisfaction with elbow joint function at the time of pitching was significantly lower in the pitcher group. Further, 5 players reported being “a little unsatisfied” because of elbow pain during pitching. All of the players indicated satisfaction with elbow function during batting. Conclusion: The percentage of players who received OAT for OCD in junior high school and continued to play baseball in high school was favorable. However, satisfaction with elbow function during throwing was lower in pitchers than in nonpitchers. Clinical Relevance: Before surgery, consent should be obtained from patients who are pitchers after it is explained that satisfaction with elbow joint function during pitching could be decreased after OAT.

Abstract. The study reviewing issues about " the effectiveness application of learning multiliteracy model in development media literacy skills of student in BK-TIK program at Indonesia university of education pilot laboratories junior high school (Lab. School) at Cibiru Bandung”, while the general purpose of this study was to describe the effectiveness application of learning multiliteracy model in development media literacy skills of student in BK-TIK program at Indonesia university of education pilot laboratories junior high school (Lab. School) at Cibiru Bandung. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental, with single group interrupted time series design, while the population of student class VII in BK-TIK program at Indonesia university of education pilot laboratories junior high school (Lab. School) at Cibiru Bandung as many as 60 people with a sample of 30 people. Data processing hypothesis test with two-sample t-test (paired sample test) aided SPSS Statistics 20 and then drawing conclusions. Based on the research results obtained in the field, in general it can be concluded that the application of learning models multiliterasi effectively to the development of media literacy skills of students in BK-TIK program. In particular, the research conclusions can be described as follows, concluding the first, there is a significant difference before and after applying the learning model multiliterasi to the development of media literacy skills aspect critical understanding. The second conclusion, there is a significant difference before and after applying the learning model multiliterasi on media literacy skills development aspect of social competence. Abstrak. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang permasalahan “efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran multiliterasi terhadap pengembangan keterampilan literasi media peserta didik pada program BK-TIK di SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI Kampus Cibiru Bandung”, sedangkan tujuan umum dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran multiliterasi terhadap pengembangan keterampilan literasi media peserta didik pada program BK-TIK di SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI Kampus Cibiru Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen, dengan desain penelitian yang digunakan Single group interrupted time series design, sedangkan populasi peserta didiknya kelas VII Program BK-TIK di SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI Kampus Cibiru Bandung, sebanyak 60 orang dengan sampel 30 orang. Pengolahan data uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji t-dua sampel (sampel paired test) berbantuan SPSS Statistics 20 dan selanjutnya penarikan simpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh di lapangan, secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran multiliterasi efektif terhadap pengembangan keterampilan literasi media peserta didik pada program BK-TIK. Secara khusus, simpulan penelitian dapat diuraikan sebagai berikut, simpulan yang pertama, penggunaan model pembelajaran multiliterasi secara signifikan efektif terhadap pengembangan keterampilan literasi media peserta didik aspek critical understanding sebelum dan sesudah menerapkan model pembelajaran multiliterasi. Simpulan yang kedua, penggunaan model pembelajaran multiliterasi secara signifikan efektif terhadap pengembangan keterampilan literasi media peserta didik aspek social competence sebelum dan sesudah menerapkan model pembelajaran multiliterasi.

This research was motivated by several reasons: (1) there was a misconception of some elementary school geometry materials that were considered essential; (2) the form of evaluation given was dominantly objective/multiple choice; (3) teachers' teaching methods tend not to be contextual; and (4) students' way of thinking simply to take the practical one. Through this research, it is expected to obtain information about: geometrical reasoning in elementary schools according to Bruner's theory, problem solving and mathematical representations. Theresearch was conducted in a descriptive analytic form, with the following steps: (1) giving questions for the geometry reasoning test for SMP; (2) analyzing answers according to the criteria of reasoning; and (3) mapping students' answers to the results of the analysis according to the profile criteria. The data obtained were analyzed, and the results were described to illustrate the condition of the geometric reasoning abilities of elementary school students. Theresults obtained in this study were: (1) The Mastery of the concept of geometry in each junior high school/equivalent. The target with the acquisition of an average score from all schools was 55, which was quite low because there were some students who did not master the concept of geometry and there were other mathematical concepts related to solving test questions; (2) There was no significant difference in the mastery of geometry concepts for male or femalestudents for each SMP/equivalent target, except for one school, namely SMP Negeri 17, which was because males are superior to females in three questions with a difference in the percentage of numbers of significantly correct; (3) The mastery of geometry concepts in each junior high school. The target of studying each geometry material was considered good, except for question number 1 with the subject of the Pythagorean Theorem, because students were dominant in not being able to use the relationship between concepts, especially the operation ofthe compounding form and the roots.

The purpose of this study was to implement the tactical approach in developing junior high school students’ understanding and games performance in football. The method used in this research was experimental method with pre-test post-test control group design. The research involved two groups, including experimental group with tactical approach intervention and a group with technical approach intervention for developing understanding and skills in playing football of junior high school students. Two instruments were used in this study, namely (1) cognition instrument, multiple choice type, with C1 to C3 difficulty levels to measure students’ understanding in football games learning and (2) Game Performance Assessment Instrumen (GPAI) for measuring football games performance. The reseach involved junior high school students in Bandung. The data collected were analysed by using one-way MANOVA to see the relationship between the groups related to the development of uderstanding and enjoyment. The result of the analysis showed that the t value of understanding variable was -1.64 and significant at the level 0,05 (0,05≤ 0,05) with mean differences -1.32. It showed that there was a significant difference between the tactical and technical group in understanding aspect. Meanwhile, in football games performancevariable, the t value was -5.71 and significant at the level 0,00 (0,00 ≤ 0,05) with mean difference -3.97. It showed that there was a significant difference between the tactical and technical group in football playing skills. According to the result of analysis, it concludes that (1) The implementation of the tactical approach had an effect on students’ understanding in football games learning, (2) The implementation of tactical approach had an effect on games performance of the students in football games learning. AbstrakTujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengimplementasikan pendekatan taktis terhadap pengembangan pemahaman dan keterampilan bermain sepak bola siswa SMP. Metode yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan rancangan pretest posttest control group design. Melibatkan  dua kelompok, yaitu satu kelompok eksperimen dengan intervensi pendekatan taktis dan satu kelompok dengan intervensi pendekatan teknis (tradisional) terhadap pengembangan  pemahaman  dan keterampilan bermain sepakbola siswa SMP. Terdapat dua instrument yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu (1) instrument kognisi jenis multiple choise pada tingkat kesukaran C1 sampai dengan C3 yang akan digunakan untuk mengukur pemahaman siswa dalam permbelajaran bermain sepak bola, (2) instrument tes keterampilan bermain sepakbola dengan menggunakan Game Permomance Assessment Instrumen (GPAI). Penelitian akan dilakukan pada siswa-siswi SMP dilingkungan kota Bandung. Semua data yang diperoleh akan analisis dengan menggunakan teknik manova satu jalur yang bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh antar kelompok baik pada pengembangan pemahaman dan kesenangan secara bersama-sama maupun masing-masing variabel. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa pada variable pemahaman diperoleh nilai t sebesar -1.64 dan signifikan pada 0,05 (0,05 ≤ 0,05) dengan mean difference sebesar -1.32. Hal tersebut menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok taktis dan teknis terhadap pemahaman Sedangkan pada variable keterampilan bermain sepak bola diperoleh nilai t sebesar -5.71 dan signifikan pada 0,00 (0,00 ≤ 0,05) dengan mean difference sebesar -3.97. Hal tersebut menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok taktis dan teknis terhadap keterampilan bermain sepak bola. Berdasarkan hasil analisis tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) Implementasi pendekatan taktis memberikan pengaruh terhadap pemahaman siswa dalam pembalajaran sepak bola, (2) Implementasi pendekatan taktis memberikan pengaruh terhadap keterampilan dasar bermain sepak bola siswa dalam pembalajaran sepak bola.

To prepare a community that is ready and alert to natural disasters needs to be instilled and introduced early to the students in the context of education how Islam sees disaster. During this time, students are of the view that Islamic values, have not touched on disaster and disaster mitigation because of their ignorance about the teachings of Islam itself. Usually they also know superficially, without going through an in-depth study of the Islamic view of the damage to the environment and the disaster itself. For that, it needs to be introduced in more depth about the Islamic view of disaster. The approach of this research is quantitative research with comparative design. The subject of this research is the students of State Junior High School located in Bangkalan District, with stratification of city, middle, and periphery schools. In this study used questionnaire method to know the initial description of students' knowledge about disaster theology approach in Islamic perspective and to know the competence of disaster mitigation attitude and skill aspects. Data analysis in this research is used T Test Indenpendent Samples Test with SPSS 20. The result of this research shows that most students have good knowledge about disaster and disaster mitigation in Islamic perspective. There is a difference in disaster mitigation competencies in attitude and skill aspects between the implementation of disaster theology approach in Islamic perspective with material-based approach to students of State Junior High School (SMPN) in Bangkalan District.
