This study aims to assess readiness of Nigerian Indigenous Contractors (NIC) to adopt Knowledge Management (KM).This is achieved by identify in requirements for adopting KM; evaluating NICs preparedness to meet these requirements; and examining benefits of KM to NICs. Purposive sampling technique was adopted for the survey. Fifteen factor requirements for adoption of KM was identified from literature and structured into a questionnaire which was administered to NICs. Eighty-four copies of questionnaires were retrieved from the total sample size of 129, representing 65% response rate. Data was analyzed using percentages, and Relative Importance Index (RII). The factor requirements used for the survey achieved a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.70 showing a high relationship between them. Results revealed that management’s strategic plan to adopt KM; and training/education of personnel are factors highly prioritized by NICs, but mechanism to enhance storing & retrieval of knowledge is yet to exist in 98% of the NICs sampled. Improvement of profitability and process enhancements are considered more important by NICs amongst derivable benefits from KM. The Study concluded that NICs are not yet prepared to adopt KM but are willing to explore its benefits for improved organisational performance.

There are certain factors within and outside organisations that can influence organisational performance. The presence or absence of those factors impacts organisations' ability to gain a competitive advantage over their rivals. As a risk-prone business sector, construction organisations need to identify those determinants that could ensure their superior performance. To date, global studies have identified many determinants that govern the performance of construction organisations. However, few of these are known in New Zealand, and their weightings could be useful in forming business strategies. Therefore, this paper measures the significance of identified determinants of construction organisational performance. A total of 100 professionals participated in a questionnaire survey administered using a snowball sampling technique. The Relative Importance Index approach was used to rank the determinants according to their importance to organisational performance. Five main determinants were significant and ranked highly, with more than 80% relative importance index scores. These determinants are resources and capabilities, competitive strategies, organisational characteristics, environmental factors, and customers relationship management. This finding provides a useful benchmark for future research on the significance of some determinants that could explain the performance differentials experienced in the construction domain in New Zealand

Poor productivity of construction craftsmen is one of the causes of cost and time overruns in construction projects. Successful delivery of construction of projects within the measurable tenets is driven by effective site supervision. Nevertheless, the inability of many supervisors to organize, communicate with workers, and direct activities sufficiently is primarily connected to the quality of the construction. Hence, this study examined how enhanced supervision styles can lead to the improvement of craftsmen performance in Anambra State, Nigeria. Being a survey research, the study employed the use of review of related literature and structured questionnaire. Accordingly, a total one hundred (100) questionnaires administered and seventy-five (75) were retrieved. This corresponds to a response rate of 75%. Data garnered were analysed and presented using relative importance index, mean scores and frequency tables. The study found out that listening to subordinates or supervisees was the most important supervision styles for improved building craftsmen performance in the study area. Therefore, the study concluded by recommending team work and effective communication channels should be adopted for improving building craftsmen performance as regards project delivery.

Abstract Effective Stakeholder Management (ESM) has been identified as one of the key requirements for successful project delivery by several scholars. This study, aimed at improving the chances of achieving successful Multifarious Infrastructure Projects’ (MIPs) delivery in Nigeria, was conducted through literature review, questionnaire survey and Relative Importance Index (RII) method of data analysis. The study identified 39 barriers to ESM in the delivery of MIPs in Nigeria, evaluated their respective impacts on projects’ delivery and ranked the barriers in ascending order of their respective impact levels. Failure to understand stakeholders’ needs and expectations, uncooperative attitude of stakeholders, failure to identify key stakeholders, failure to identify potential conflict areas, project manager’s poor knowledge of stakeholder management (SM), late identification of stakeholders, issuance of incorrect information to stakeholders, lack of stakeholder engagement/involvement, conflicts between stakeholders, misunderstanding of roles by stakeholders, lack of fairness and equity for all stakeholders and lack of continuity in SM process were ranked as the ten top barriers, in descending order, with highest levels of impact against ESM in MIPs delivery. The study also provided MIPs managers with an insight on the barriers to address/focus on in order to achieve ESM in the delivery of their projects. The study concluded that there was need to pay special attention to the above barriers due to their high impact level on ESM and improve current approaches to stakeholder management in MIPs delivery in order to improve the success rate of the projects. The study recommends development and effective implementation of an appropriate strategy for handling stakeholder management in the delivery of MIPs and other projects.

This study examines the problems and prospects of digitization of information resources in public libraries and museums in South-East, Nigeria. Two research questions were formulated to guide the study and a survey research design was also used for the study. The population of the study consists of all the staff and users of public libraries and museums in South-East, Nigeria. A total sample size of 317 was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The researcher constructed two sets of questionnaire entitled “Problems and Prospects of Digitization of Information Resources in Public Libraries and Museums Questionnaire (PPDIRPLMQ) for data collection. The instrument for data collection was trial-tested for reliability. A total 317 copies of the questionnaire were distributed to the respondents and 293 were returned and found usable by the researcher. This gave a response rate of 92%. The data collected were analyzed using Mean (X) Standard Deviations and percentages to answer the research questions. Based on the data collected and analysed, the major findings of the study revealed some of the barriers to the digitization of information resources in public libraries and museums and also proffered some strategies in surmounting these challenges. This chapter aims to identify the level of importance of the performance attributes of architects in the project delivery process by using self-evaluation. Good performance is the only insurance that can help construction professionals, such as architects, to survive in the industry. Performance problems during the design process that are experienced by these professionals are the reasons for the drawbacks and deficiencies in construction. The present study proposes 37 performance attributes. The results revealed that understanding the client's objectives is the performance attribute with the highest relative importance index value. The present study recommends for future research on improving the performance assessment in design practice and providing behavior-based feedback to increase feedback accuracy for measuring the performance of architects in the design delivery process needed by the employers in the construction industry.

Many studies have been conducted in relation with knowledge management (KM), indicating the benefit associated with KM; among which safety management (SM) improvement is one of them. So, the aim of this article is to assess the influence of KM on SM practices in construction industry. In this regard, various factors that affect KM and SM are identified through literature review. Then, a questionnaire survey was facilitated to collect data based on the identified factors. These factors are ranked using a relative importance index (RII) to ascertain the level of importance among its group. Further, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis are carried out to test and measure the strength of the relationship between KM and SM factors. Results indicate that there exists a definite and significant relationship between the factors of KM and SM in construction industry. Overall, the results obtained from the study will assist practitioners and professionals to develop and upgrade KM and SM practices in construction industry.

Most of the previous studies on causes of valuation variance have concentrated on non-statutory valuation, with little attention to statutory valuation in both developed and developing countries, leaving a gap in the body of knowledge in this regard. Purposive sampling was adopted to select samples from registered estate surveyors and valuers in Kwara State, Nigeria. The data collection was done through a survey questionnaire given to 33 valuers and the Relative Importance Index (RII) was used to analyse the data collected. Findings showed that factors that fell within the range index of significant factors (0.841 to 0.979) are: experience in rating valuation, comprehensiveness of the law, unrealistic valuation assumption and availability of market indices for the input variables. Other significant factors are explicitness of the law, integrity of the valuer, valuer negligence, absence of quality control and training in rating valuation. The findings have practical implications on rating valuation stakeholders.

Resource Planning and Leveling are two critical areas of resource management which need to be implemented by contractors to aid in construction project execution. However, in the process of undertaking these processes in their projects, contractors meet a number of challenges which discourage them from implementing Resource Planning and Leveling. Nonetheless, Resource Planning and Leveling has a number of benefits which may not be known by some contractors. The purpose of this research therefore was to establish and evaluate the challenges and benefits associated with Resource Planning and Leveling. A survey design was adopted by the researcher. A sample of 106 respondents was selected randomly and a response rate of 76% was achieved. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics and relative importance index analysis while qualitative data was analysed thematically. Contractors were found to experience serious challenges in their quest to execute Resource Planning and Leveling in their projects. The three most pressing challenges experienced by contractors were found to be: project delays (RII=0.8597); technical incompetence (RII=0.8564); materials shortages or late delivery (RII=0.8390). A number of benefits were found to entice contractors to carry out Resource Planning and Leveling in their projects. The three most significant benefits were: establishing plans for material delivery (RII=0.9215); balanced resources, reducing over allocations or overtime (RII=0.9165) and determining or predicts resources needed (RII=0.9139).

Erode district is well known for turmeric production and turmeric market in entire country. This study was conducted in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. Erode district consists of nine taluks. Among nine taluks, Erode taluk was selected. Erode taluk has two blocks and among the two blocks, Kodumudi has more area under turmeric cultivation. Therefore, Kodumudi block was selected purposively. Kodumudi block comprises of twenty-four revenue villages. Among the twenty-four villages, five villages were selected for the study purpose. From each selected village, total sample of 120 turmeric growers were selected through proportionate simple random sampling technique. Thirteen independent variables were selected and analyzed to identify its relationship with dependent variable (training needs).  From the above study it may be concluded that that educational status, farming experience, extension agency contact, trainings undergone, innovativeness, and scientific orientation were found to have positive and significant relationship with the training needs of turmeric growers about recommended turmeric cultivation practices.

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the success of the accountinginformation system at PT. Kuncimas Niagatama Banyuwangi. The success of accountinginformation systems is influenced by Human Behavior in Organizations, ManagementSupport, Motivation and Training, Data Processing in the System, and Management andImplementation Process. This study used the primary data by total sample of thirty-fiveemployees and used the purposive sampling technique. The quality of the questionnaire wastested using the validity test and reliability test. Data analysis used multiple regressionanalysis, which includes the classic assumption test, t test and the coefficient of determinationThe results showed that Human Behavior in Organizations, Motivation and Training,Management and Implementation Process significantly influence the Success of AISImplementation. Only Management Support variable and Data Processing in the System haveno significant effect on the Success of AIS Implementation.
