Introduction: it is necessary to assess the way students spend their free time in the final years of high school due to the poor results that have appeared recently in the baccalaureate exams. Methods: the study was carried out using a group of 202 students from the 11th and 12th grades from a National College (117 pupils) and a High School (85 pupils) from the city of Dorohoi, Botosani County. The young people filled in a questionnaire with questions about leisure activities and social relationships. The results were processed using Pearson's chi-squared test. Results and discussions: The time allocated daily for physical activity is mostly 15-30 minutes (23.76%) with significant differences between the two schools (p˂0.05). The time spent watching TV is mostly 0.5-1 hours (35.64%) with insignificant differences between grades (p>0.05). Most students (44.05%) do not sit at the computer, the calculated differences being statistically insignificant (p>0.05). When looking at social relationships we take into account friends, where in the majority of cases (32.4%) students have „one” true friend. This is a usual result because in this period of the adolescent's life the role the group of friends plays decreases, with significant differences between school years (p˂0.05). In their free time, they go out into town, mostly 2-3 evenings per week (28.71%), but there are also 31.68% negative answers. Parents are less concerned about school activity (“never” answers – 34.15%) with significant differences between grades (p˂0.01). Parents are also less concerned with the way their children spend their free time (“never” answers – 34.65%) with significant differences between school years (p˂0.05). Conclusions: there is a series of situations that guide us towards a modest concern for the future, both from students and their parents.

In today’s society, there are still school violence behaviors that affect simultaneously seriously to the physical and mental health of students as well as their academic performances. This article will present how high school students in the city of Da Nang cope with these related problems. A study with the participation of 423 students at seven schools in Da Nang city was carried out to describe the fact how students cope with school violence behaviours. Its result shows that the main cause of school violence behavior comes from students’ witnessing various types of violence. In addition, students apply positive responses through actions and emotions when faced with school violence behaviors. Based on the result obtained, the study recommends measures to partially affect the way the schools and families develop their solutions, as well as directly affect the survey subjects.

Based on research in the old Recife Quarter in the city of Recife, capital of Pernambuco state, Brazil, this study examines processes of gentrification in areas of heritage value. The article focuses on the way in which these urban policies have transformed cultural heritage into a commodity, and urban space into social relationships mediated by consumerism. I argue that heritage sites that undergo processes of gentrification create strong spatial segregation and generate an appropriation of space by the excluded population that takes the form of counter-uses, undermining the uses imagined by urban and heritage policy makers.

Abstract.CONCEPTION OF QUALITY OF LIFE IN OLDER ADULTS. CHRISTIAN AND MUSLIM CULTURES IN CEUTAThe quality of life in older adults is a current line of research due to the population tendency to ageing in the European countries as well as the West Bank countries (Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia). This quality of life may be related to the level of attention and cares we provide to elderly. Our study is focused on the population of the Autonomous City of Ceuta, following this premise. The interviewees answered to different aspects of the quality of life, such as discrimination against older adults, social relationships, leisure activities, sports, housing or health care. The sample was compounded by the most representative cultures in the City, Christians and Muslims. The last ones have proven a very enriched perspective to our study, giving more diverse opinions, such as the respect they feel for their older adults, the vision given by the Arab countries media about the older people, the suffering the elder have been through all along their lives, the perception of needing protection and support by the elders or the beliefs related to the lack of relationships with non-relatives and the lack of leisure activities, as the older adults have their family and they must dedicate to religion. Another contribution of this culture is the rejection to retirement homes, and the fear of ending their lives alone in a nursing home.Key words: quality of life, older adults, old age, cultures, Muslims.

Abstract Objective: to identify the activities performed by older adults as part of the Rio Health Gym Program in their daily lives, and analyze the contributions of these practices to their health and quality of life. Method: a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study was conducted using interviews with 30 older adults who attended a health center in the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Lexicographic analysis was performed using the Alceste software program. Results: five lexical classes were generated. Physical and leisure activities comprised classes 2 and 3. The statements that made up the lexical classes showed that older adults carried out their daily activities with autonomy and independence. According to their assessment, the activities promote the integration of participants, increase social participation and benefit health and quality of life. They attribute their proactivity to participation in the social group. Conclusion: the activities bring diversity to daily living, increase socialization and leisure opportunities, and consequently improve the health of older people by facilitating social relationships.

Leisure and free time are a part of human beings’ life, and perhaps neither how nor why is thought of. In leisure, activities are individual and obligation free; free time activities, although can be chosen whether to do them or not, are linked to social pressures and included in the legislation and as universal human rights: Recreation, amusement and rest. The objective of the article is to analyze the way in which the post-degree students visualize and incorporate the leisure and free time in their everyday life. The used method is quantitative, explorational-descriptive, and transversal. The article contributes demonstrating the subjective wealth that impregnates the leisure forms and free time activities into the way each of the individuals do things, think, say, and spend time in their educational, social, and work related relationships and interrelationships. The questionnaire was answered by 70 post-degree students ―53 women and 17 men― most of them working. Some female students spend 15% of their week in free time activities and 27.5% to leisure; in both activities men said to spend 27% of their week. Only 16 women and six men consider free time as a fundamental human right.

Subject. In this article we analyze how machinery, science and technologies influence the sociocultural environment that engenders the teacher's paradigm of values and views of life. Objectives. We herein outline guidance to predict the way teachers' views of life might evolve in corresponding sociocultural periods more precisely. The article analyzes making more precise forecasts of oncoming economic crises, which will cause some changes in teachers' mindset. Methods. The study involves learning methodologies, methods of prediction and forecasting, including foresight. Results. We propose and analyze the theory holding that the human civilization passes cycles during its sociocultural development in terms of a new set of values in contemporary teachers' views of life. The article sets forth our recommendations on innovation-driven views of life, mindset and thinking and, consequently, the development of intellectual qualities, knowledge, skills, cognitive activity, positive motivation to the professional activity of a teacher and alumni during more elevated periods, which requires to more precisely predict the way teachers’ mindset may change in certain sociocultural periods. Conclusions and Relevance. As the human civilization enters the innovation-driven sociocultural period, teachers and social relationships should demonstrate more innovative and environmentally-friendly attitudes and views of life.

The article analyses descriptions, memories, and notes on Dresden found in eighteenth-century accounts of Polish travellers. The overarching research objective is to capture the specificity of the way of presenting the city. The ways that Dresden is described are determined by genological diversity of texts, different ways of narration, the use of rhetorical repertoire, and the time of their creation. There are two dominant ways of presenting the city: the first one foregrounds the architectural and historical values, the second one revolves around social life and various kinds of games (redoubts, performances).
