In comparison with national manufacturers, distributors have an advantage in providing wellknown brands and might receive financial or information support by foreign manufacturers in marketing campaigns in the local market. At the same time distributors have a lack of independence in producing and pricing policies, so they are limited in the tools for reducing the costs of production and increasing the profitability of sales. Nevertheless, distributors, as well as other companies, are focused on increasing their economic efficiency. Based on the study of the activities of the company «SK Energy», the authors identified the characteristic problems associated  with  the implementation  of foreign  trade  operations. Their  overcoming  is  mainly focused on decreasing the costs associated with the transportation of goods to the territory of the Russian Federation, reducing currency risks that limit the ability of the importing company to increase competitiveness in the local market due to the price factor. The authors propose ways to solve the identified problems, confirmed by estimates of the economic efficiency of imports based on actual data on the foreign-trade transactions of «SK Energy» and calculated values, considering the possible implementation of such measures.  Considering  the  specifics  of «SK Energy» business, it is identified the possible ways to increase revenue through changes in the company's sales policy and in the conditions of cooperation between the distributor and the foreign manufacturer. The results obtained are sufficiently general and can be used in different industries by commercial organisations that are already engaged in import  activities,  as intermediaries between foreign producers and consumers on the national market, or only plan to develop an international direction.

Development model based on the export of raw materials and high dependence on external economic conditions are among the main strategic threats to the national security of the Russian Federation in the field of economy. So, a number of states, not without reason, are trying to realize these threats in order to achieve their geopolitical goals by imposing different restrictions, various prohibitions and multiple sanctions. Some results of the analysis of the impact of the anti-Russian sanctions on the Russian foreign trade in 2014-2016 I present in this article. For the sphere of foreign trade, it is shown that the negative impact of prohibitions and sanctions, as well as adverse external and unfavourable internal processes and factors, had a greater impact, first of all, on the fuel and energy, petrochemical and machine-building complexes. The subjects of the Russian Federation with a high concentration of export and import, oil and gas extraction and metal-production were affected stronger than other regions. Along with this, the impact of sanctions and the response of the Russian government are stronger on the export of Russian products than on imports.

In the article, the authors present their approach to carrying out customs regulation and control by customs authorities of the Russian Federation. Referring to the Russian history of the 17th–18th centuries, the authors state that the customs authorities have exercised customs regulation through implementation of supervisory measures over the participants of customs legal relations. It is emphasized that the phrase «customs control» used in the Russian customs legislation is applied incorrectly. Taking into account the opinions of Russian scholars, the authors find the term «customs supervision» more appropriate. It is noted that over time, in order to stimulate foreign trade, our state has developed new rules. This leads to emergence of new participants of customs legal relations possessing legally recognized rights and duties. The number of forms of customs supervision has increased respectively. It is concluded that since the purpose of supervision is to identify and prevent offenses, not all of customs authorities’ activities should be classified as forms of supervision, but only those which help identify a violation of customs rules. In conclusion, the authors give examples of incorrect and unprofessional exercising of powers by the Russian customs authorities while they carry out supervisory measures. Such cases should be excluded from the practice of customs.

The objective is to identify potential risks in the aircraft development and to quantify the risks in the process, ultimately to find mitigating strategies. Monte-Carlo simulation for quantitative risk assessment and RAND DAPCA IV to calculate the cost are employed. These results are comprehended and collectively assessed with few assumptions. The assumptions are in due consideration to the local conditions, and thus they reflect in the approximations. These assumptions indicate the impact of the industrial and academic environment of the Russian Federation on the developmental cycle of the aircraft. The estimated financial risk for the development of an air medical ambulance for the Russian Federation is 29%, and the cost for unit production of the medical aircraft is nearly 19 million USD. The suggested strategies can reduce the financial risk to 22% and the cost for unit production of the medical aircraft to nearly 13 million USD.
