The Covid-19 pandemic, which has swept the world for almost two, years has changed the implementation of education in Indonesia. Learning that was previously always done face-to-face has now been shifted to distance learning, which in its performance is a challenge, especially for mathematics teachers. So far, the problems faced by teachers are difficulties in making students more enthusiastic in learning during the online learning period and challenges in developing students' thinking skills. A learning model is needed that can train students so that during online learning, students can still practice improving their 4C thinking skills. This research is a descriptive study in the form of a literature review conducted by reviewing several literatures. Based on the literature review, it can be seen that one approach that can be used is a project-based Quantum Teaching and Learning (QTL) approach which can be presented in web form so that students are more motivated during the online learning period. Based on theoretical studies from several articles, it is known that learning QTL can increase students' learning motivation because QTL is taught according to students' thinking. Giving projects that are in accordance with students' interests can be added to QTL learning to train students to improve 4C thinking skills.

The spread of the Covid-19 virus that has swept across the world has caused changes in various aspects, one of which is a change in the learning process, which was previously face-to-face, now learning during the pandemic is carried out online both in elementary, junior high, high school, and even in universities. In online learning, of course, there are many problems faced by students, teachers, and parents. One of the problems that arise is that educators are less able to innovate in making online learning media so that it causes students to experience a decrease in motivation and activity in learning, therefore there is a need for solutions to increase learning motivation, especially for elementary students. One of the media platforms used to increase children's motivation in online learning is by using the Quizziz application. The world of education is currently experiencing a very extraordinary event. The Covid-19 pandemic has a very broad impact on participants and educational institutions. Our education system must be ready to take the leap to transform online learning for all students and by all teachers. We are entering a new era to build creativity, hone student skills, and improve our quality with changes in systems, perspectives and patterns of our interactions with technology. Every individual who is in an educational environment must be able to use technology that can help the learning process, especially in schools. Likewise, with the implementation of teaching and learning at SMAN 3 Padang, the process of implementing learning in these schools currently cannot be carried out face-to-face in class as usual. Students take lessons from home. To find out the ability of teacher students, they must evaluate the learning that has been given. One of them is by giving the teacher online quizzes because face to face is no longer possible during the Covid 19 pandemic. Mathematics is one of the subjects considered difficult by students, especially for mastery of Olympic questions. For this reason, teachers are required to have creativity so that learning can be understood by students. Mathematics teachers are given training that supports this. The training that will be provided is in the form of making questions for quizzes which are carried out online. The students will solve these questions in accordance with the specified time. Teachers who take part in the training are expected to be able to motivate and evaluate students' ability to work on Olympic questions even though they are carried out online.

It has been two years since the world has been forced to cope with doing things online. Even in normal face-to-face group discussions, participants face difficulties and conflicts, and now online learning has not made it any easier. This study explores the ups and downs in group discussion. 72 participants responded to a survey to find out how they perceive the conflicts in group formation. The findings in this study revealed that there were significant differences the norming stage and also performing & adjourning stage. In addition to that, the total mean score showed interesting differences across gender. Not all group formations with different genders go through conflicts. Not all team members with the same gender are conflict-free. Sometimes discussions/some activities are more difficult to carry out because of conflicts across genders are not properly addressed. Then again, not all group conflicts are negative. Conflicts are good in several ways. The conversations improve the communication and negotiation skills of the team members. In addition to that, defending for one’s point helps to sharpen critical thinking skills. The findings in this study cannot be generalized for all situations in group work. This study can be a springboard for more group formation and group conflicts research.

Article visualizations:

The COVID-19 global pandemic widely affected education across the world and engendered unprecedented scenarios that required expeditious responses. In South Africa, the pandemic came on top of pre-existing inequalities in the education system. Using a qualitative research method of exploratory and descriptive nature, this study engaged a social justice framework to explore the teaching and learning of mathematics during the COVID-19 lockdown in a context of historical disadvantage. A sample of twenty-three Grade 12 mathematics teachers at various public secondary schools in Gauteng, South Africa was used in the study. The teachers were selected through purposive sampling. A Google-generated open-ended questionnaire and follow-up telephonic interviews were used to collect data. Data were analysed thematically in five steps. The findings revealed that the WhatsApp platform is a valuable tool that can support the teaching and learning of mathematics beyond the classroom in the contexts of historical disadvantage. The findings also provided insights into how mathematics teachers became learners themselves during emergency remote teaching (ERT) as they had to adapt to digital teaching, find solutions to unfamiliar problems and acquire knowledge from a larger mathematics education community around the globe. The article discusses these findings and teachers’ challenges of transitioning from traditional face-to-face classrooms to ERT and how they were addressed. At the time of publishing the article, most learners in South Africa had started going to school on a rotational basis. Nonetheless, the study reported in this article is of importance as ERT in the context of historical disadvantage has foregrounded issues of inequality in the South African education system that must be dealt with urgently.
