Air pollution is an environmental problem that is familiar to residents of absolutely all corners of the earth. It is especially acutely felt by residents of cities where enterprises of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, energy, chemical, petrochemical, construction, pulp and paper industries operate. In some cities, the atmosphere is also severely poisoned by vehicles and boiler houses. These are all examples of anthropogenic air pollution. The subject of the study is the emissions of carbon dioxide into the environment. The purpose of the study is to solve the problem of environmental pollution by harmful substances and preserve the ecology in the world. Methodology. The main indicators characterizing the impact on the environment - CO2 emissions in the global energy sector - have been systematized; two indicators have been identified that determine the level of atmospheric pollution. Results - the scale of the influence of atmospheric air pollution on human health and the entire ecosystem as a whole was revealed.

Koya city, like any other city in the world, faces a critical environmental problem which is global warming and the increase in the rate of production of gaseous pollutants. This research is involved with the negative effects of private Electrical Power Generators (EPGs) on the environment in Koya City. The environmental pollutants resulted from EPGs were investigated by performing an actual study on land for the number of (EPGs), types, and distribution. Koya city is divided into 18 quarters. The investigation covers a period from 2009 to 2017, included. The production of power was increased due to the increase in the number of generators and supplying hours. The power production in 2009 was 23,850 megawatt (MW) whereas it was 49,635 MW in 2017. The amount of fuel consumed in 2009–2017 was relatively increased from 30,000 to 62,500 barrel/year. The total amount of pollutants was increased by about 108% during the period 2009–2017. The results showed that the most significant increase in pollutants was carbon dioxide (CO2). The annual amount of (CO2) emitted in 2009 was 6588 tons whereas it has increased in 2017–13710 tons. The conclusion of this study was that the highest pollution occurred in the center of Koya City in Nabeel quarter, which represented 22% of the whole pollutants.

As a global environmental problem, plastic pollution has attracted worldwide attention. Plastic wastes not only disrupt ecosystems and biodiversity, but they also threaten human life and health. Countries around the world have enacted regulations in recent years to limit the use of plastics. Paper products have been proposed as promising substitutes for plastics, which undoubtedly brings unprecedented opportunities to the pulp and paper industry. However, paper products have some deficiencies in replacing certain plastic products. Research and development to improve paper properties and reduce production costs is needed to meet such challenges.

Abstract Arsenic (As) toxicity has become a public health and environmental problem, which is a serious issue in certain parts of the world. Many people are exposed to As through contaminated drinking water, food and soil, through occupation, etc. Chronic As exposure is linked to various hostile health effects including skin problems, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, reproductive and developmental and neurological problems in exposed subjects. Experimental existing data indicate that chronic As exposure affects the nervous system by impairing the nerve and brain tissues of the exposed animals, and clinical studies indicate that As exposure leads to both central nervous system and peripheral nervous system impairments and also causes depression, memory impairment and difficulty in problem solving, affects body coordination, etc. Various prenatal and postnatal studies with respect to As exposure also suggest that developing offspring and young children are susceptible to As exposure. The only solution to this serious health problem is to stop occupational As exposure and provide As free drinking water to the affected population.

Water sources pollution by arsenic ions is a serious environmental problem all around the world. Arsenate reductase enzyme ( TtArsC ) from Thermus thermophilus extremophile bacterium, naturally binds arsenic ions, As(V) and As (III), in aqueous solutions. In this research, TtArsC enzyme adsorption onto hybrid polyethylene glycol-stabilized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was studied at different pH values as an innovative nanobiosystem for metal concentration monitoring. Characterizations were performed by UV/Vis and circular dichroism spectroscopies, TEM images and in terms of surface charge changes. The molecular interaction between arsenic ions and the TtArsC -AuNPs nanobiosystem was also monitored at all pH values considered by UV/Vis spectroscopy. Tests performed revealed high sensitivities and limits of detection equal to 10 ± 3 M −12 and 7.7 ± 0.3 M −12 for As(III) and As(V), respectively.

Pollution of environment and the irreversible destruction of nature has become the way of life of the modern world. The consequences of that are obviously tragic for human life and for the survival of the entire planet Earth. This article has an aim to answer the question: what can the Orthodox Church do to stop this problem, if it cannot regain what has already been lost? To answer this question, the author first analyzes the causes of the ecological catastrophe, and then offers a theological answer to the posed problem.

The increase in garbage production today is due to the exponential growth of the population worldwide, due to the fact that thousands of tons of garbage are generated daily around the world, but the mismanagement that gives them has become an environmental problem since 33% of all the garbage generated is not recycled, for that reason it is estimated that within the next three decades the amount of waste worldwide will increase to 70%. That is why in the present research work it is proposed to make an intelligent system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that allows monitoring the garbage containers in real time representing with percentages the state of these containers and these can be collected in time by garbage trucks, and thus avoid the increase of garbage in the streets and the various types of problems that these would cause. As a result, it was obtained that the System does comply with the established conditions because it allows to monitor in real time representing by percentages the state of the garbage container, which indicates 40% as almost full and 80% indicates that it is already available for collection. Finally, it is concluded that using the Garbage Container Monitoring System will allow to better optimize the collection process and, in addition, the problems that are usually perceived today due to the amount of garbage that are registered in the streets will decrease. Amidst the technological, social, economic, and cultural developments of the past few decades, the notorious environmental problem seems to be exacerbated, overshadowing any glimmer of optimism about the future of planet Earth. This is largely attributed to the thoughtless production and use of plastic products, but mainly to their reckless management as waste. Oceans, rivers, lakes, and many terrestrial areas of the planet suffocate under the masses of synthetic objects that displace any form of life. The voices of despair are getting louder and louder all over the world, but governments in many countries pretend to hear nothing. Nevertheless, protest reactions coming from the world art and design community constitute an important visual, functional, as well as a sociopolitical movement with multiple goals.This article does not simply aim at describing and analyzing the environmental problem through the aggravating presence of plastic waste. Its main purpose is to comment on and decode the works of selected artists from all over the world, works which are exclusively inspired and made of plastic trash. Overall, their work constitutes a form of artistic innovation and, at the same time, a form of severe protest and activism which aims at awakening the world aesthetic, and mainly environmental consciousness.

<p><strong>Background:</strong> Bed bugs are small insects that feed on animal blood at all stages of their life cycle, with the most common species, <em>Cimex lectularius</em>, preferring to feed on human blood. In recent years, it has reappeared in many countries around the world.                                                                                                                                  </p><p><strong>Methods:</strong> Samples of bed bugs were collected from Jeddah governorate neighbourhoods from 4<sup>th</sup> December, 2018, to 1<sup>st</sup> May, 2019, to determine the infected neighbourhoods and the degree of insect infestation. The study was conducted by random selection of individuals in the Jeddah community; data were collected through the completion of 1000 questionnaires, which were then statistically analysed.                            </p><p><strong>Results:</strong> The current study monitored the presence of bed bugs in many neighbourhoods of Jeddah governorate; their presence percentage varied according to the different neighbourhoods, and they were arranged in descending order according to the percentage of their presence as follows: Al-Safa &gt;Bani-Malik &gt;Al-Sherafiya &gt;Al Jamaa &gt;Al Nuzula. The prevalence of bed bugs related to the population density, random neighbourhoods, low level of hygiene in the neighbourhood, and moving from one residence to another. 98% of the residents of Jeddah in the sample agreed that bed bugs were a disturbing pest and an environmental problem which needs to be researched and studied to reach the best ways to control it, as 99.6% of them agreed the necessity of including bed bugs in the list of disturbing pests and vectors of diseases that must be controlled by the concerned authorities in Jeddah governorate.            </p><p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> The necessity of including bed bugs as one of the pests that need to be considered and must be controlled by the relevant authorities.</p>
