Palavras-chave: Educação Não Formal; Práticas em Astronomia; Estratégias Metodológicas Astronomy at school: A university extension project at a school in the inland areas of Amazonas Abstract: This paper presents the extension actions developed in the project "Teaching Astronomy with concrete material," linked to the Pro-Rectory of Extension of a Brazilian public university. The project aimed to enrich the astronomical knowledge of students of the 5th and 6th years of an elementary public school through lectures, practical activities, and workshops produced with audiovisual technological resources and low-cost materials. With the theoretical framework of the theory of learning of Ausubel, the classes involved in the project participated in research aiming to obtain data related to the previous knowledge they had about astronomy topics. Through the actions developed, astronomical concepts were presented to the students. After the presentations, new data collections were performed in order to verify the level of achieved learning. Data analysis revealed that the stage reached by children is not always close to the ideal of a conceptual and realistic view of the universe. However, extensionist initiatives in teaching and disseminating astronomy contribute to enhancing students' interest in this area of knowledge. On the other hand, they can help teachers implement new practices and methodologies for learning this science in elementary school. The reality of life illustrates the low level of human concern on environment. In fact, it undeniably promotes environmental damage nationally and globally. Therefore, the ecosystem damage in various places and regions has become a serious threat to the survival of the life of the universe. Humans are closely related to nature and they have a great responsibility to protect the universe. In regard to this issue. This article provides an overview of the ideal human strategy, namely Insan Kamil, as a means of increasing awareness of our status as ‘Abdun and our role as caliph in instilling awareness of environmental love through Green Education. This study employed a qualitative approach in the form of literature study in collecting data. The result found that Insan Kamil is considered as a human who is trying to realize his status as a servant of Allah and his role as khalifatullah who has a Divine vision to worship Allah and they also have mission in maintaining natural order and prosperity of the environment. Through the approach of spiritual education, its strategy must be applied within family, school, and community. Thus, it is clear that the strategy of this Insan Kamil is not only in the scope of formal education, but non-formal and in-formal education must also have the same objective integration in order to foster awareness of environmental love through Green Education. The article compares “cultural transfer” and “dialogue of cultures” as socio-cultural realities in two "border" civilizations of planetary scale – Latin America and Russia. The author develops and illustrates the thesis that identity of subjects of intercultural interaction is a necessary precondition and the key to cultural transfer. The focus is on the problematics of the dialogue of cultures. According to the author, the basic reason for all difficulties to put into practice the ideal of dialogue consists in what W. O. Quine described as the problem of "radical translation", that is, of understanding texts created within another culture based on essentially different views about the universe and life.

Formal education that conducted in schools has taught many things to students. For lucky children that born in educational families, with highly-educated parents, there may be no difficulty in asking their parents if they are having learning difficulties at school. In the city there may be many courses that provide additional education for children and ask about their learning difficulties at school, but in the village there are not many courses that are affordable for the society. Lower middle-class society will feel its impact. So what will happen is the children from the countryside will be unable to compete with children who come from the city. Non-formal education that is expected to be built in the village is non-formal education with a low cost or perhaps without a penny. From this condition it is necessary to establish a non-formal education to help provide additional education for students at low cost or even free of charge so that it can be enjoyed by all society. The results of this community service program are (1) providing additional educational containers for villagers. (2) giving motivation to students to always try to achieve goals and not easily give up. (3) Teaching self-independent and creativity for elementary and middle school children. Keyword: Pendidikan nonformal, kelompok belajar, kemandirian

The term Executive Functions (EFs) refers to a set of higher order cognitive processes that are critical for goal directed behaviour. They include inhibition (i.e., the ability to suppress task-irrelevant cognitive processing and ignore salient yet irrelevant features of the situation), shifting (i.e. the ability to switch between different operations or levels of processing), and updating (i.e. the ability to encode, hold and monitor incoming information in working memory, replacing information that is no longer relevant with new information). The most notable developmental change in children’s EFs occurs during the preschool period, and this is associable to and predictive of children’s general learning ability. For this reason, efforts to develop EFs in preschoolers is of vital importance. In recent years, only few studies have investigated the effect of EFs intervention on preschoolers, despite the potential preventive effect of early intervention on later developmental problems. A number of related solutions have been proposed over the years, including both paper-and-pencil activities and digital applications (e.g., software and videogames). However, few attempt have been made to integrate the many advantages of traditional, low-cost playful activities with the (often) powerful affordances of digital technologies. Hence, we propose just such a hybrid solution, with a set of mobile applications (apps) designed to foster EF development among early learners in education settings. We opted for such a solution as mobile apps have proved to be familiar, highly usable and well accepted among young children. At a more general level, this contribution seeks to provide useful input on the affordances and indicators that can help guide the effective choice of apps useful for developing EFs, and how these tools can be optimally introduced and employed in traditional teaching and learning programs.

Fair punishment for a condemned has been long debated in the universe of discourse of law and global politics. The debate on the philosophical level was no less lively. Many schools of thought philosophy question, investigate, reflect and assess systematically the ideal model for the subject just punishment in violation of the law. One of the interesting and urgent legal thought Jeremy Bentham, a British philosopher renowned trying to provide a solution in the middle of the debate was the doctrine or theory of utilitarianism. The core idea is that the fair punishment should be a concern for happiness of a condemned itself, and not just for revenge. Bentham thought has relevance in several dimensions such as dimensions of humanism, moral and utility.

Textbooks are indispensable in most formal education settings. However, many teachers believe weaknesses in textbooks can result in ineffective learning and teaching. This research uses a corpus-based approach to identify issues related to vocabulary with a particular focus on English textbooks in use in Omani schools. WordSmith Tools and RANGE concordance software are used to analyze these textbooks. Findings indicate that there are irregularities in vocabulary loading and that the types, tokens, density and consistency ratio show inconsistencies. Moreover, in terms of the coverage of GSL and AWL word lists, the textbooks fall short of the ideal range of 95% to 98% coverage suggested by Nation (1990, 2001). In fact, vocabulary from large percentages of the texts are not found in any of the essential word lists. The paper suggests recommendations for consistent analysis and guidance in analyzing textbooks in order to improve their quality in terms of vocabulary introduction and loading.

This chapter analyzes Part II of Process and Reality. It begins with a discussion of fact and form, and states that for Alfred North Whitehead, to be an actual entity is to be fully formed, fully definite, with no indeterminations left unresolved. From the welter of what it could be, an actual entity decides what it will be: realizing certain potentials and positively excluding others; taking a definite stance with respect to everything in the ideal and actual worlds. Its real essence, structured by its associative hierarchy, comprises the full particularity of its status in the universe and of the universe in it: its unique way of housing and pervading this world populated by these actual entities. The remainder of the chapter explains the extensive continuum; order, society, organisms, and environment; the modal theory of perception; and a theory of judgment.

Cryo-microtome sections of larvae of Strongyloides stercoralis and S. ratti respectively obtained from human and rat feces cultures, were used as antigens. Fluoresceinate conjugates against human IgG were employed at the ideal titer of 10 for S. stercoralis and 100 for S. ratti. The sensitivity of the indirect immunofluorescence reaction (IIF) was 94.4% and 92.5% and the specificity 94.2% and 97.1% for the two specific larval antigens, respectively. Sera from 123 persons (54 from carriers of S. stercoralis infections and 69 from controls) were submitted to the reaction. The titers of different sera varied from 20 to 2560. There was a significant linear correlation (r = 0.85 p £ 0.001) between the antibodies from the two species of larval antigens. We conclude that both antigens may be used in the IIF reaction for the diagnosis of human strongyloidiasis. Due to the feasibility of safe and low-cost mass production of S. ratti larvae in the laboratory with a considerable economy of conjugate, their utilization in the serum diagnosis of human strongyloidiasis is recommended

Among the several strategies aimed at polymeric coatings deposition on titanium (Ti) and its alloys, metals commonly used in orthopaedic and orthodontic prosthesis, electrochemical approaches have gained growing interest, thanks to their high versatility. In this review, we will present two main electrochemical procedures to obtain stable, low cost and reliable polymeric coatings: electrochemical polymerization and electrophoretic deposition. Distinction should be made between bioinert films—having mainly the purpose of hindering corrosive processes of the underlying metal—and bioactive films—capable of improving biological compatibility, avoiding inflammation or implant-associated infection processes, and so forth. However, very often, these two objectives have been pursued and achieved contemporaneously. Indeed, the ideal coating is a system in which anti-corrosion, anti-infection and osseointegration can be obtained simultaneously. The ultimate goal of all these coatings is the better control of properties and processes occurring at the titanium interface, with a special emphasis on the cell-coating interactions. Finally, advantages and drawbacks of these electrochemical strategies have been highlighted in the concluding remarks.

This chapter analyses how Ezekiel Landau appropriates Cordoverian expressions, motifs, and ideals aside from availing zoharic teachings in all his works. It explains the central mystical goal of devekut that is promoted in both ecstatic and Cordoverian writings, which claims that nothing less than the structure of the universe, the purpose of human activity, reward and punishment, and the nature of the next world can relate to this state. It also mentions how Landau frequently advocates the ideal of devekut and related mystical concepts in terms borrowed from Maimonides' philosophical and legal works. The chapter considers ideas that bear a striking similarity to elements of ecstatic and Cordoverian Kabbalah, in which Landau promotes the ideal of devekut. It discusses the presence of the goal of devekut that are regularly incorporated into Cordoverian works.
