In this announcement, the various –linguistic and non-linguistic- symbols used in the literary work 'Around the world in 80 days', written by Jules Verne, are examined from an intertemporal and contemporary point of view. The references through these points of view, in matters of multiculturalism and multilingualism, are becoming classical in nature: they concern the necessity of the applied ability to communicate between individuals who belong to different social classes and age groups, speak the same or different languages, come from different cultures, with rights and obligations in their various areas of life, etc. Key-words: linguistics, multilingualism, multiculturalism, semiotics, semiotic systems, symbols

The purpose of the scientific study is a comprehensive analysis of theatrical concept of Yuriy Kosach through the prism of his culturological journalism, which was published in the pages of emigration journals. The study emphasizes that Yuriy Kosach's theatrical publications are a logical continuation of the theatrical critique of the Drahomanov-Kosach family, which formed the spiritual tastes of Ukrainians and generated their socio-political guidelines in light of development of the latest social sentiments in Europe and the world. The article highlights one of the facets of Yuri Kosach's journalistic activity: an attentive literary critic of world drama. Yuri Kosach's journalistic speeches on the peculiarities of the development of European theater, the specifics of the development of a new modern drama, published in the pages of emigration periodicals, are studied. The research focuses on the individual manner of Kosach-critic: the organic combination of scientific analysis and journalistic pathos in the study of significant dramatic phenomena of foreign literature, encyclopedic erudition, the accuracy of theoretical definitions. It is emphasized that the organic combination of journalistic talent and original creative practice in the field of drama made it possible to immerse deeply into the creative laboratory of foreign playwrights, to highlight the best that could contribute to the renewal of the Ukrainian theater. Some components of the theatrical concept of the publicist are clarified; elements of Yuriy Kosach's innovative approaches in covering an important worldview problem are highlighted. The article focuses on the publicist's theoretical reflections on the leading style in European drama of the postwar period and the secrets of the creative laboratory of the leading creators of modern drama in Western Europe in the second half of the twentieth century. The author of the article notes that the literary journalism of Yuri Kosach on the development of world drama is a reflection of his worldview, explains the heterogeneity of its ideological accents. Emphasis is placed on the relevance of the ideological sound of Kosach's journalism for the development of modern literary journalism.

Navoi's work is valuable and noteworthy as a reflection of the philosophical and artistic think-ing of the period, as a product of conceptual views and research of a talented person. In his poems he meets a philosopher, a lover, a beggar, the owner of a crushed heart; to see time, its vortex, its destruction; the ruins of wickedness, and the radiant waves of goodness. Navoi's lyrical protago-nist is himself. It is as if he set out on a voyage in a vast ocean (world) with his ship (creation). This journey (life) forces him to draw conclusions about himself, the ocean (the world), the people of the ocean (humanity), and its variations and flashes (storm, flood, clarity, and so on). Key words: mature muhaddith, tyrant, apocalyptic area, Eastern poets, poetic manifestation, literary communication and interaction, the spirit of the work

Life / death contrasting is fundamental to the reconstruction of national paintings of the world. In each culture, the experiences associated with opposition life / death are expressed in specific traditions and rites and, accordingly, are enshrined in the language in a certain way. The author’s language picture of the world is based on the common language picture of the world, which is formed as a result of the generalization of knowledge received by native speakers. In literary works, it is often the opposition to life / death that contains semantic features that reflect the author’s linguistic picture of the world. Of particular interest to the study are the memories of famous writers, in which they presenttheir impressions of iconic historical events and creative personalities. It is in such texts that the author’s features of the language are clearly manifested, characteristic language means for expressing a certain attitude towards people and their position in the current situation. The material of our study is the collection “Damned Days” by writer Ivan Bunin. The scientific novelty of the work is that the work of I. Bunin is considered in a new aspect, from the point of view of analyzing the meanings of words and expressions used in the text to contrast two worlds, the world of old Russia and the world of Bolshevik Russia, and the language means used by the writer. The work concludes that I. Bunin uses techniques to negatively characterize people, with the help of which the semantics of characters from the “world of death” are actualized. By using zoomorphisms, describing a person with the inclusion of inanimate objects, listing diseases, comparing with the corpse and words with a negative connotative color, the author shows that the described characters do not belong to real living people. Thus, the author verbally “displaces” people hated by him from the world of the living and paints a special, inverted “antiworld” – “world of the dead.” This world is also defined by the author of the work as “horror,” “terrible” with the use of corresponding lexes. In the author’s picture of the world, Bolshevik Russia is a “dead” world, opposed to the “living” world of old Russia. The author uses language tools such as metaphors, comparisons, occasionalisms. Vocabulary has a negative connotation, sometimes bright to such an extent that it is invective. The world of old Russia is opposed to this world. Its representatives are called the opposite in meaning: these are beautiful, healthy, believing people.

The article is a linguistic attempt to reconsider the traditional image of Lesіa Ukrainka as first of all a courageous and indomitable person. The priorities of the writer’s life in the traditional reception are strong spirit, will, courage, steadfastness. We want to present a different image of the writer - emotionally vulnerable, sensual, life-loving, passionate nature. She perceives the world not only spirit, but first of all the body as the first attribute of life, biological existence. We received all the information necessary for semantic decoding in the linguistic, in particular lexical and grammatical organization of Lesіa Ukrainka’s poetic texts. We used not only linguistic-stylistic, contextual, interpretive analysis of contexts, but also the bodily-mimetic method, which is relevant in modern literary criticism. The follower of this method is the Ukrainian literary critic Felix Steinbuk, his work became the theoretical basis for the analysis of linguistic material. We placed special emphasis on the poetic representation of the categories of corporeality in the writer’s texts: ontological (life, heart) and epistemological categories (sight, eye; hearing, voice). After conducting research in the selected strategies, we proposed the image of another Lesіa Ukrainka, which to some extent opposes the canonical versions. We have actualized in this image not the power of the spirit, but the powerful power of the body, hence the vital energy, the love of life, the manifestation of its pathos.

I will analyse the correspondences between two critical ambitions cultivated a century apart, those of the liberal ideological critic Lovinescu and of a young literary critic who reads Romanian literature through a minimally progressive grid, sensible to liberal nuances and with leftist interpretative undertones (considering the evolution of class representation and of the “social”) in discussing recent literature, a point of view having a devastating effect on many writers (in light of the fact that the regime change has occasioned an upsurge in racism, sexism, and all other imaginable phobias, which have nonetheless been cultivated in the last stage of nationalist propaganda of the 70s-80s as well). I will pursue the evolution of several writers against the backdrop of the ideological mainstream, as well as the manner in which Iovănel interprets them: Mircea Cărtărescu, Adrian Schiop, and Lavinia Braniște. I will also attempt to establish the limitations of Iovănel’s approach, residing in the conflict between established literary criticism and a literary production which has been completely underprivileged within the free market, enjoying weak institutional support, and whose sales and popularity are rapidly diminishing. The literary critic, still part of a somewhat stable institutional network, seems to be confined in a depressingly marginal literary underbrush, whose growth was sparked by the cataclysm of anti-communist “cultural revolution” and savage capitalism. One of the greatest constructs of communist modernity, mass culture, which was to transform into one of the greatest post-communist utopias, commercial culture, was of great importance for the present debate.

The article focuses on the approach to the study of human psyche and behavior, suggested by literary critic and ideologist of Narodnikism N. K. Mikhailovsky in the second half of the 19th century. Mikhaylovsky is proved to have developed an original model of scientific cognition, which was based on the synthesis of knowledge from different fields of science and built around an “anthropological or humane point of view”. Scientific search within the framework of this model is carried out with the help of the subjective method, based on the effort to understand another person, and the subject of cognition is a “profane” — a person complete with all of his social experience. The problems put forward by Mikhailovsky seem relevant in the light of the modern “cognitive turn” in the humanities, the desire for interdisciplinary approach and the creation of an integrative scientific picture of the world, fundamental rethinking of the classical objectivistic model of scientific knowledge.
