The purpose of the research is to present, summarize and demonstrate on the example of the developed test tasks the principles of preparing foreigners for the Writing subtest in the system of International State Examination in the Russian Language (TORFL-I). The research materials include tasks, texts, test materials of a training nature in writing. The authors used methods of theoretical research: axiomatic, hypothetical, analytical, systemic. Empirical methods of observation, description, comparison were used when fixing the specific features of the components in the system of preparation for linguodidactic testing in Russian as a foreign language, which is carried out at Transbaikal State University at the Local Center for Testing Foreign Citizens (Chita, Russia). The results of the study show that preparation for testing should be based on certain principles - integrity, continuity, unity of control and self-control. The article emphasizes the principle of integrity as fundamental. Integrity in preparation for test in writing has several manifestations and implies the development of linguistic, communicative, sociocultural, discursive competencies among students; development of knowledge, skills and expertise in the field of writing with simultaneous development of writing techniques; considering the lexical minimum and requirements of the State Educational Standards for the first level of general proficiency in Russian as a foreign language. We also consider the principle of continuity to be important, which implies consistency in preparation for the Writing subtest - making skills and expertise automatic by repeating, looping; considering the material learned at previous levels of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language - elementary and basic. The principle of unity of control and self-control is considered in the content-functional aspect: a system of test tasks has been developed and presented, which allows to increase the effectiveness of the control and self-control process and the effectiveness of forming the competencies - linguistic, communicative, sociocultural and discursive. The methodology, based on these principles, allows foreign students to quickly adapt to passing tests and the necessary material in full.

The article is devoted to the issues of specialized / professionally oriented teaching Russian as a foreign language at the pre-University stage of foreign students of engineering specialties. As one of the principles of such training, the principle of profiling is put forward. The authors suggest a possible way to profile the teaching of the Russian language to foreign students. Taking into account the communicative needs of first-year foreign students in the educational, scientific and professional fields, as well as specific methodological conditions that hinder the process of language pre-University training at the preparatory faculty, allowed us to develop a model of integrated learning of listening and writing. The developed model is based on the principles of communication, profile orientation, complexity in teaching types of speech activity, as well as accessibility, which is more subject to the selection and organization of educational material. Popular science text is chosen as the main teaching tool. Informative, informative, accessible presentation of scientific material, and the interdisciplinary nature of popular science text make it the optimal educational tool for profiling the process of teaching Russian at the pre-University stage, including in the field of teaching listening and lecture notes. The introduction of such a model will serve to restore continuity in the training of foreigners at the pre-University and main stages in a technical University, make it easier for students to communicate in the educational, scientific and professional spheres, and increase its effectiveness.

In the conditions of a substantial increase in the number of foreign students in the universities of the Russian Federation in recent years especially relevant research of studying ways to increase the effectiveness of the formation of the communicative competence of this contingent of students in the educational and scientific sphere of communication at the stage of pre-university training. Professionally oriented teaching in groups of the humanitarian profile has its own specific features, due to the conditions of study, in which students who have chosen humanitarian areas of a fairly wide range can study in one group. The purpose of this paper is to describe the student body studying at the stage of pre-university training at Russian as a Foreign Language Center of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU HSIEP RFLC), to find out their educational route and degree of conformity of the scientific prose style course, which is prepared based on traditional approaches, to communicative needs relevant to future majors of the students, and to propose and to present an argument for a more effective technology of modular education. As methods of scientific research, the work used the method of analysis of scientific sources devoted to the competence approach to teaching, professionally oriented teaching of Russian as a foreign language and modular technology. Also, the questionnaire method allowed us to obtain data as a result of a survey of 154 students of the pre-university training program of SPbPU HSIEP RFLC. On the basis of theoretical analysis, it has been established that, within the competence-based approach, professionally oriented training in groups of the humanitarian profile at the stage of pre-university training should take place taking into account the communication needs that are relevant for future specialties of students. Empirical method of study allowed identifying a list of future majors of pre-graduate training program trainees, the top of which are the following: linguistics (46%), foreign area studies (24%), majors related to art and culture (8%), psychological and educational majors (8%), law (6%), advertising and public relations (5%). Also a low level of foreign students’ satisfaction (39%) with the content of scientific prose style course based on traditional technology of mass group learning, which preconditions the need to use an innovative modular technology in teaching and learning process. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the description of the process of pre-university training of foreign students in humanitarian groups through the prism of the foundations of modular education. According to the authors, modular training will allow to quickly vary the content aspect of training, focusing on the communicative needs of a certain humanitarian direction.

This article is devoted to the problem of using Russian time-prepositions by foreigners, especially by the Chinese. An analysis of modern literature allows the author to identify the main areas of the work aimed at foreign students’ development of the skills and abilities to correctly build the prepositional combinations and continuously improve the communication skills by means of the Russian language. In this paper, the time-prepositions in the Russian language have been analyzed in detail; some examples of polysemantic use of prepositions, their semantic and stylistic shades alongside with possible errors made by foreign students are presented. The results of the study are to help in developing a system of teaching Russian time-prepositions to a foreign language audience, taking into account their native language, on the basis of the systemic and functional, communicative and activity-centred basis. The role of Russian time-prepositions in constructing word combinations has been identified; the need for foreign students’ close attention to this secondary part of speech has been specified. It has been stated that prepositions are the most dynamic and open type of secondary language units within the quantitative and qualitative composition of which regular changes take place. The research substantiates the need that students should be aware of the function of time-preposition in speech; they are to get acquainted with the main time-prepositions and their meanings, to distinguish prepositions and other homonymous parts of speech as well as to learn stylistic shades of time-prepositions. Some recommendations related to the means of mastering time-prepositions have been given: to target speakers to assimilate modern literary norms and, therefore, to teach them how to choose and use them correctly by means of linguistic keys that are intended to fill the word with true meaning, to give it an organic structure, an inherent form and an easy combinability in the texts and oral speech.

Abstract This paper deals with the characteristics of the scientific research of the renowned Slovak linguist Klára Buzássyová who – as a lecturer at the Studia Academica Slovaca summer school of Slovak language and culture – presented to foreign students the specifics of Slovak lexis and their function in speech within the context of intraand interlingual relationships. In her lectures, she helped students to see Slovak as a developped and modern Central European language which has its own genetic and typological properties and as a language capable of reacting to dynamic changes emerging from the communication needs of language users while respecting current trends in European language policy. Klára Buzássyová presented students with the latest results of her linguistic research and discussed the issues regarding the dynamics of vocabulary with an emphasis on the methods of wordformation, motivation, and the impact on the semantic and stylistic value of lexical units. Her papers, published in the Studia Academica Slovaca proceedings from 1980 to 2001 presented her scientific orientation and became an inspiration for the linguistic and didactic conception of Slovak as a foreign language in the context of the development of Slovak studies in Slovakia as well as abroad.
