Abstract The present work was carried out with the aim of inquiring about knowledge on general environmental issues, daily habits, predisposition towards caring for the environment and the index of environmental culture of a group of students entering the agronomic engineering career at the National University of Luján (UNLu) and consisted a written, individual and anonymous survey of 81 students. The results obtained confirm that it is necessary to promote not only the dissemination of knowledge related to the impact of agricultural production activities on the natural environment, but also the separation of waste, the reuse of materials such as paper, glass or metals, the purchase of products that are friendly to the environment, the decrease in the consumption of unnecessary products, the use of reusable bags when shopping and traveling on foot or by bicycle and in order to ensure that these habits can be extended to a greater number of people. These results, added to the interest expressed by the respondents in participating in different actions related to the care of the natural environment, invite us to think about the importance of developing environmental education actions from the different educational institutions, including the university.

The Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) is an organization that responds to environmental awareness and education through an environmental recollection. Environmental recollection was conducted among twenty student respondents who are scholars of CFCA. Using a researcher-developed questionnaire, data on the level of knowledge on four environmental issues: global warming, climate change, waste management and resource preservation and the action plans were gathered. Results show that the student respondents are well informed of the environmental issues prior to the environmental recollection but a significant increase in the level of knowledge was found after the environmental recollection. The students strongly agree on the plan to preserve the resources and the proper waste management procedures. All the students get information on environmental issues from their teachers, while majority also obtain them from media and seminars. Other information was obtained from home through their parents, classmates, and pamphlets. There is significant association between prior level of knowledge in waste management, prior level of knowledge in resource preservation and the post level of knowledge in all environmental issues and number of sources from which they get the information. Environmental recollection is a good tool in awakening the students in the current environmental situation.   Keywords - environmental recollection, environmental education, environmental sensitivity, environmental awareness, responsible behaviour, preservation

The university is an essential participant in education, a key place where societal change processes are developed. So, it must be a place to bring up current challenges and social requirements. That is the reason why it holds the responsibility to assure the creation of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in the students to achieve an effective solution to environmental issues. The objective of this research was the assessment of the attitudes, knowledge, and pro-environmental behavior in university students from different faculties, studies, and degrees, as well as their influence in this group. The results show that most of the students have previous concepts of environment, and they consider that a good environmental education is necessary to solve the environmental issues that they have around. This proves that key factors in attitudes become essential elements for changing them. The differences made by gender and studies in several fields in attitudes (cognitive and emotional levels) are also confirmed.

The inclusion of environmental issues in formal education is recent. In this reality, the present study aimed to analyze the conception that teachers from public schools in São José do Egito, Pernambuco - Brazil, have on relevant issues and actions for Environmental Education. We interviewed 22 teachers through a structured questionnaire consisting of 10 questions focusing on environmental matters. We found that 95.5% of the interviewees showed interest in studying environmental issues and considered themselves as responsible for any environmental damage occurring. They all stated that environmental damage worries them and 72.7% have already tried to change this situation. They (72.7%) believe that there can be economic and social development without causing environmental impacts. Half of them consider the citizens as the main responsible for the damage to the environment and at the same time as the most involved with its protection. In addition, 40.9% said that the school where they work treats environmental issues superficially and 59.1% said the textbook as insufficient material to address environmental issues. The low school performance and the lack of teacher training in Environmental Education compromise the critical education of students regarding environment preservation.

ABSTRACT Environmental Education, which became Law in Brazil in 1999, seeks to reflect and raise awareness about social and environmental issues to transform students into "environmental citizens". Studies show that the level of environmental awareness of each individual is directly related to the degree of environmental perception and that this, directly reflects on the environmental behavior of the individual. For this reason, the present study aimed to evaluate the construction of the environmental perception of Brazilian university students. The research was carried out in 5 Brazilian universities with a total of 553 respondents, being three public universities and two private universities. For data analysis, the modeling of structural equations using the software SmartPLS 2.0 M3 was used. The result indicates that the environmental perception of the university has a focus on recycling, water and energy saving and reduction of consumption, apart from these issues, the constructs that formed the perception of the environment, were not effective for the formation of environmental awareness.   KEYWORDS: Environmental Education, Environmental Perception, Higher Education, Sustainability. Is the Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A) a viable degree option for those wishing a career in academe? The D.B.A. degree is often considered to be a professional degree, in-tended for business practitioners, while the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is por-trayed as the degree for preparing college or university faculty. Conversely, many academic programs market their D.B.A. programs to future academicians. In this study, we investigat-ed whether the D.B.A. is, in fact, a viable faculty credential by gathering data from univer-sity catalogs and doctoral program websites and handbooks from 427 graduate business and management programs to analyze the terminal degrees held by 6159 faculty. The analysis indicated that 173 institutions (just over 40% of the total) employed 372 faculty whose ter-minal degree was the D.B.A. This constituted just over 6% of the total number of faculty. Additionally, the program and faculty qualification standards of the six regional accrediting agencies and the three programmatic accrediting agencies for business programs (AACSB, IACBE, and ACBSP) were analyzed. Results indicated that all these accrediting agencies treated the D.B.A. and Ph.D. in business identically and that the D.B.A. was universally considered to be a valid credential for teaching business at the university level. Suggestions for future research are also offered.
