Summary Is often heard in informal meetings about the subject of mathematics and the past student, on some cases it is usually have answers that reflect apathy to the subject, express on unpleasant experiences, until you select careers that do not have to do with numbers or mathematical calculations. This has been reason of study for the authors of the investigation, who inquired about university students to know in detail, if the apathy is related with study careers that they have in the curriculum the least amount of subjects that involve the mathematics. The object of this work is determining the causes of the apathy to the mathematics in the university humanistic careers, for which the survey of university students was used as a research tool: Technical of Manabí and San Gregorio of Portoviejo, in the careers of Social Work and jurisprudence, identifying the main weakness of mathematics teachers to homogenize their work methodology, without considering that the group of studies, and the students are different, also adding that they make inadequate diagnoses, that the texts in spite of bringing motivational readings the attitude of the teachers do not contribute to a true motivation, generating indifference and rejection to the subject, concluding that apathy and little enthusiasm for the subject of mathematics is methodological responsibility of the teachers, which show pedagogical inadequacies to teach the lecture subject of study of this research. Aim. The subject of our interest is to research the forms of prejudice about Christians among university students. Part of the research focuses on the question of the forms of prejudices of the research group in relation to religious classmates – peers and part of on significant influence of media on the negative perception of Christianity in the society. The reflection of the findings is a consideration of the decline in social cohesion due to (1) the existence of prejudices in the university environment in Slovakia, and (2) the often negative media presentation of Christian religion in the Slovak media. Concept. The starting point of the issue is the research into the forms of prejudice and the potential for social exclusion of young people due to the existence of prejudice in the university environment. The need for this kind of research and reasoning arises from growing fears and the strengthening of phobias that accumulate within the groups we observe. Results and conclusion. The reflection of the findings is a consideration of the decline in social cohesion due to (1) the existence of prejudices in the university environment in Slovakia, and (2) the often negative media presentation of Christian religion in the Slovak media. Cognitive value. Qualitative statements confirm the decline in social cohesion among peers due to religious diversity. We consider the presence of religious prejudices as an urgent call for such forms of education that would effectively contribute to the acceptance of cultural and religious diversity in society and to the promotion of social cohesion in the university environment.

Cyberbullying has become a frequent relational problem among young people, which has made it necessary to evaluate and prevent it in the university setting. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between cyberbullying, motivation and learning strategies, the ability to adapt to university, and academic performance. A sample of 1368 Spanish university students (64% female) was administered a battery consisting of the European Bullying Intervention Project Questionnaire, the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory Short version, and the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire, with their academic performance also being studied. The results found that the victimized bullies have greater difficulties in their organization and planning for study and exams, have fewer control and consolidation strategies, and are less able to adapt to university. Logistic regression analyses show that the greater the difficulties in organization and planning, and the greater the difficulties experienced in exams, the greater the probability of a person being a victim and a victimized bully. In addition, students are less likely to be victims, bullies, and victimized bullies as their ability to adapt to university increases. The findings have been discussed and it has been noted that there is a need to address academic adjustment and the ability to adapt to the university environment as a preventive measure for cyberbullying in university students.

Motivations of the University students in the physical and sports practice of free time. The nautical activitiesABSTRACTThe study of motivational profiles provides detailed information on the habits of groups of people to the practice of physical activity, allowing fostering a more positive motivation and achieving greater adherence to practice. So the aim of this study was to clarify the motivations are against the practice of physical and sporting a sample of university students, with special emphasis on water sports activity. The sample consisted of 1011 students from the University of Almeria (Spain). The instrument used was the questionnaire physical - sporting habits and water sports. The results indicate that the main reasons for developing sport and flexible hours were adequate to the availability of leisure, followed by proximity to your home facilities. Other reasons are for fun, or to be with his Universitarios y actividades náuticas © Psy, Soc, & Educ, 2016, Vol. 8(3) 230 friends. Concerning water activities, it was decided not to practice or just because they like them, followed by the wish to be in contact with the natural aquatic environment. The most practiced nautical activities are canoeing and swimming. In relation to the abandonment of the sport is clearly caused by the lack of time for study or work. Clearly the lack of time for study or work, seriously undermines adherence to physical activity, but there are very high percentages (62 %) who admit no laziness and unwillingness to practice, so you should seek new motivational strategies to increase adherence to physical activity sports. Keywords: Motivation; practice of physical and sports activity; nautical activities; Physical and sports habits; university student.

This paper analyses the views and preferences of children and young people who experience barriers when attempting to engage with schools and schooling. It specifically considers processes of formal and informal exclusion and the manner in which “stigmatised” children are treated within a system where attendance to children’s rights is, at best, sketchy and at worst – downright discriminatory. The paper poses a number of critical questions concerning the extent to which the views of children are given due weight in decision-making processes in schools, whether the background a child comes from affects the way school staff listen to them and whether school rules act as a barrier or enabler for children’s rights. In turn, these questions are related to what educational processes might look like that place due weight on the views of children, what cultures create barriers to listening in practice, and what we can learn from children’s overall experiences. The paper presents findings from a participatory empirical peer research project (funded by a Carnegie Research Incentive Grant and the University of Edinburgh Challenge Investment Fund), conducted with and by young people in schools in Scotland and the north of England. This paper is innovative as it is the product of collaborative working between academics at the University of Edinburgh, staff at Investing in Children and the young researchers who co-authored this article for publication.

The article discusses issues related to the peculiarities of the professional choice of graduates of public education organizations. There are results of the study presented, which allow us to determine the role of conscious self-regulation of the activity of young people who find themselves in a situation of having to make a professional choice (on the example of students of a pedagogical university). The research involved 302 first-year students studying in the field of training 44.03.01 «Pedagogical Education». As research tools, the «Motivation of teaching pedagogical university students» methodology by S.А. Pakulina and M.V. Ovchinnikov and the questionnaire «Style of self-regulation of behaviour» by V.I. Morosanova were used. The data obtained during the research were organized, processed and interpreted using mathematical methods. It was found that first-year students who, upon entering the university, made a professional choice more consciously, taking into account their interests and inclinations have a well-developed need to think through their actions and behaviour to achieve their goals and their action plan is detailed. They are also characterized by independence in designing an action plan to achieve individual goals, flexibility in the situation of unforeseen circumstances, an advanced adequate assessment of themselves and the results they achieved. As the main conclusion, the following is formulated: the possession of a developed system of conscious self-regulation of arbitrary activity in an individual who is at the stage of choosing a profession allows him to make an adequate professional choice, which, in turn, is one of the conditions for the actualization of professional and personal potential.

ABSTRACT In the last few years, a discussion about university students´ employability has been generated by deep changes in the job market. The objective of this investigation has been to analyze employability with reference to sex, degree and employment situation, and to analyze its relation to the achievement perception. 297 students have participated in different levels of the Education Department of the University of Murcia. The tools that have been applied seek to explore the subjective self-perception on the employability performance, measuring skills and abilities expressed by the participants, and the perception (belief) of personal and professional conditions required by employers with reference to a potential job hiring. University students not only perceive that certain personal characteristics are necessary, but they also consider the requirements of their social and labor context. Also tested the existence of a statistically significant relation among employability perception and achievement expectations. The results have highly important practical implications aiming to improve the university students´ employability. Priority should focus to address the incorporation of vocational guidance in university plans of studies.

Although some attention has been given to student issues at university, the literature on the relationship between social connectedness, achievement motivation and emotional-social learning with student adjustment is relatively limited. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of social connectedness, achievement motivation and emotional-social learning upon the adjustment of students in a university context. In addition, this study looks into the differences in achievement motivation and emotional-social learning levels between the genders. The sample comprised 240 university students, both male and female. According to the findings, the relationship between the study variables does not significantly differ between genders. Emotional-social learning is significant in terms of predicting the adjustment. Furthermore, gender differences were noted in terms of emotional-social learning levels, but not in terms of achievement motivation and social connectedness. The study explores implications of the significance of emotional-social learning in the university environment and makes recommendations in light of these implications.

This paper reports the study of drug consumption carried out within the population of undergraduate students from 2 colleges of Alfenas, in the state of Minas Gerais state. Both licit and illicit drugs were studied, including alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, crack, inhalants, glue, tranquilizers, stimulants, and others. METHODOLOGY: The research included a wide bibliographical search and the application of a questionnaire to approximately 23% of the students (total of 6500 students). RESULTS: A total of 1500 students participated in this investigation. The results demonstrated that there was a significant consumption of both licit and illicit drugs. The pattern of drug consumption in the research sample was similar to other investigations conducted in Brazil and in other countries. DISCUSSION: It was observed that 55% of the university students use drugs. However, the most surprising finding was that most of the students (88%) answered "yes" to the inquiry, "Have you already tried any type of drug, including alcohol and cigarettes?" The students revealed that they had taken drugs even prior to the admission to the university. The results suggest clearly that the university environment does not necessarily represent the starting point for student drug consumption.
