The purpose of the present study was to find out the effect of yoga practice on learning behaviour and assertiveness among school children of Tamilnadu. For this purpose, ninety male adolescents studying in socially backward region of Tamilnadu, with the age group of 15 to 17 years who were studying in Nandanar Boys Higher Secondary School, Chidambaram (Cuddalore District), Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Vallalapatty, Madurai (Madurai District) and Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Thiruvannamalai (Thiruvannamalai District), were chosen as subjects. They were divided into two equal groups, each group consisted of forty-five subjects, in which experimental group - I underwent yoga practice and experimental group - II acted as control that did not participate in any special activities apart from their regular curricular activities. The training period for the study was five days (Monday to Friday) a week for twelve weeks. Prior to and after the experimental period, the subjects were tested on learning behaviour and assertiveness. Learning behavior was surveyed by the Jegadheesh Srivastava learning behaviour Questionnaire and Assertiveness was surveyed by Rathu’s Assertiveness inventory. The Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was applied to find out any significant difference between the experimental groups and control group on selected criterion variables. The result of the study shows that the yoga practice group was significantly improved the learning behaviour and assertiveness when compared with the control group.

The purpose of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of Plyometric Training (PT) and Resistance Training (RT) for improving speed ability of the Athletes. Total thirty six (N = 36) district level athletes were randomly selected. All the subjects were divided into three equal groups: i) Resistance Training Group (RTG) as Experimental Group-I, ii) Plyometric Training Group (PTG) as Experimental Group-II and iii) Control Group (CG). Experimental group-I underwent resistance training whereas experimental group-II underwent plyometric training for eight weeks. But the control group did not involve in any of the above treatments. In the present study speed ability was measured through 60 yard dash. To draw the statistical inference analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used followed by Tukey’s LSD test as post hoc test. Both RTG and PTG improved significantly with respect to the CG in speed ability. Significant difference was also observed between RTG and PTG in speed ability. It was also confirmed that the PTG improved better than the RTG in speed ability. From the above findings it can be concluded that PT is more effective training means than RT to improve the speed ability of the athlete.

The research is dedicated to searching of new tools for higher effectiveness of the application of athletic tools to develop speed of secondary school children. The goal of research is to prove theoretically and test experimentally the program for speed development of secondary school children (11-12 years) with priority use of athletic tools.To realize the goal such methods were applied: scientific theoretical, pedagogical observation, experiment, mathematical statistics methods. Boys are from 6 grades (11-12 years old) have participated. Pupils belong to main medical group. The results. There was elaborated and experimentally proved the program’s effectiveness. We have got statistically significant difference (p0.05), better results from experimental group of performing control exercises: “30m run (sec)”, “30m run from place (sec)”, “run at the place during 5sec (number of movements)”. One exercise has got better result from control group - “run at the place during 5sec (number of movements)”. We have performed evaluation of students’ speed development before and after the experiment. Amount of pupils with high level of competence has grown in exercises “30m run (sec)” for 13.3%, “60m run (sec)” for 20%, “shuttle run 4×9m (sec)” for 6.7%, “long jump from place (cm) for 13.3%.

The aim of the study was to clear-out the effect of the round house strategy on the achievement of physical concepts at the ninth grade. The study consisted of (48) students at the Jufa Secondary School for girls for the second semester 2018/2019, distributed randomly to two divisions in the same school, one of which was experimental and the other experimental. This study found that there was a statistically significant difference in the post-test in the students' acquisition of physical concepts at (α = 0.05) between the average performance of the experimental group studied using the circular house strategy and obtained an average of (19.70), and the control group studied in the usual way and obtained Average (14.63), in favor of the experimental group. In light of these results, the researcher recommended using the circular house strategy because of its importance in gaining physical concepts among students. In light of these results, the researcher recommended using the round house strategy and its role in acquiring physical concepts in demand

AbstractObjectiveTo investigate the efficacy of biscuits fortified with different doses of vitamin A on improving vitamin A deficiency (VAD), anaemia and physical growth of pre-school children.DesignA randomised double-masked population-based field interventional trial with a positive control group.SettingBanan district of Chongqing, China.SubjectsA total of 580 pre-school children aged 3–6 years were randomly recruited into four groups. Children in groups I and II were given biscuits fortified with vitamin A at 30 % of the recommended daily intake (RDA) and 100 % of the RDA once a day for 9 and 3 months, respectively. Children in group III received biscuits containing 20 000 IU of vitamin A once a week for 3 months. Initially, the children in group IV received a 200 000 IU vitamin A capsule just once. At the beginning and end of the study, blood samples were collected to measure Hb, serum retinol, retinol-binding protein and prealbumin, and weight and height were measured.ResultsAll the fortification types significantly decreased the prevalence of VAD and anaemia in each group (P < 0·05). The effect of 9-month intervention on group I was the most efficient (P < 0·0045). After intervention, the Z-scores of height-for-age, weight-for-age and weight-for-height in all groups increased markedly compared with baseline (P < 0·05), but no significant difference was observed among the groups.ConclusionsData indicated that consuming vitamin A-fortified biscuits with daily 100 % RDA for 3 months has the same effect on the improvement of VAD, anaemia and physical growth as did the weekly 20 000 IU and single 200 000 IU administration in pre-school children.

The aim of this study was the investigation of the efficacy of the Cognitive and Exposure therapy on the treatment of obsessive- compulsive disorder. This study is experimental expanded with multiple group pre-test, post-test. The statistical population of this study are included all patients with OCD, referred to clinical centers, hospitals and private clinics and counseling centers in Saghez and Boukan citiesat the age of 40-20 years. The statistical sample of this study is included 45 patientswith Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Who were selected randomly. Cognitive therapy was administered for the first experimental group and the second experimental group receives exposure therapy while the control group received no treatment. Subscales Madsly questionnaire was usedfor data gathering for OCD. For data analysis, multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and least significant difference test to compare scores differences between pretest - posttest variables in the experimental and control groups was used. Findings showed that Cognitive and Aversion Therapy on the control group has a significant impact on the improvement of obsession, check out, washing, slowness and obsessive doubts. The results showed that Whittal Cognitive Therapy more impact on the reduction of obsessions in comparsion with Exposure therapy.

The purpose of the study was to investigation the effect of continuous running on endurance of men kabaddi players. To achieve the purpose of this study, thirty men kabaddi players selected from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Annamalai University, Tamilnadu, India.  The age, height and weight of the subjects ranged from 19 to 21 years, 155 to 169 centimetres and 58 to 68 kilograms respectively. They were divided into two groups; each group consisted of fifteen subjects. Group-I underwent continuous running and group-II acted as control who does not participate in any training programme. The data collected from the two groups prior to and post experimentation were statistically analyzed by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The experimental group had significant improvement on endurance when comparing to the control group.

ABSTRACT Aim The study aimed to assess the impact of mouthwashes on antibacterial activity of individuals with fixed orthodontic appliances. Materials and methods A total of 60 individuals were considered in the study. Sixty (20 each group) nonextraction class I individuals were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Group I: Experimental group [chlorhexidine (CHX) mouthwash], group II: Experimental group (neem mouthwash), group III: Control group (distilled water). All the clinical examinations were done at baseline and 30th day respectively, after the start of orthodontic treatment. The mean differences between the different experimental groups were calculated using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. Results There was no statistical significance at baseline mean plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI) scores, and Streptococcus mutans (SM) colony count between groups. The PI and GI scores among CHX and neem mouthwash groups (p = 0.002, p = 0.032 respectively) were significantly reduced after intervention and also the SM colonies count was reduced in CHX and neem mouthwash groups and there was significant difference between the groups. Conclusion As both mouthwashes showed significant effectiveness on antibacterial activity in individuals with fixed orthodontic appliances, neem mouthwash can be used as an alternative to CHX. Clinical significance It is better to have a sound knowledge regarding the use of mouthwash in long term as fixed orthodontics are associated with accumulation of SM, enamel demineralization, and an increased number of carious lesions, predominantly in sites adjacent to bracket. Abstract Background Good oral health (OH) is essential for physical, social, mental health, and overall quality of life. This study assessed the usefulness of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in changing oral health-related behaviors among school children aged 11–13 years in Saveh, Iran. Methods In this descriptive before and after study, participants were sixth-grade students at single sex primary schools in Saveh city, Iran. We recruited 356 school children in 2019. Using simple random sampling, a male and a female school per district were allocated to the experimental group and the remaining schools to the control group. Our planned oral health education consisted of four one-hour training sessions over 1 week. The first session familiarized the participants with important information about OH. In the second session, we applied a brain storming exercise to identify the benefits and barriers to flossing and brushing. In the third session, a short film about correct brushing and dental flossing technique was shown and research team also used role-playing to correct any mistakes. In the final session students were taught about the importance and the application of OH planning and given forms to help plan for brushing. Results Participants for the study included 356 students (180 in the experimental group and 176 in the control group) who completed the post-test questionnaire. The mean age ± standard deviation was 11.55 years ±0.93 in the experimental group and 11.58 years ±1.01 in the control group. After the intervention, the paired t-test indicated a significant difference between the mean and standard deviation of the action plan and coping plan constructs in the experimental group before and after the intervention (p < 0.05). Covariance analysis indicated a significant difference between scores of intervention and control groups under statistical control of post-test in two groups (covariate) after a peer-led education program (post-test) (p < 0.05). Conclusion A shortage of professional health workers in education settings together with the ease, usefulness and low-cost of this peer-led method, suggest further steps should be taken to implement it more widely to improve and enhance primary school aged students’ oral health behavior.

<p><em>The study was conducted to compare the performance of students working in chemistry laboratory with those working in chemistry laboratory supplemented with simulations at secondary school level.  The focus of the study was to find out the effectiveness of laboratory work supplemented with simulation on the performance of students. The study was experimental in nature and posttest only control group design was used.  Qualitative data is collected by means of interview of chemistry teachers. Quantitative data was also collected and analyzed. The sample comprised of 118 (60 males and 58 female) students and (02) Chemistry teachers of class IX of Public schools of Peshawar. The control group worked in the Chemistry laboratory under normal condition whereas experimental group performed practicals with the help of simulated software. At the end of the treatment practical examination was conducted on the pattern of Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (PBISE). The scores of both control and experimental groups were compared in three main areas i.e. written, viva voce and notebook. For the sake of comparison of control group and experimental group independent sample t-test was used. The result of t-test indicates that there is a significant difference between the performance of control and experimental groups with large effect size. The qualitative data was collected by means of interview which indicated that both the interviewees were motivated and showed keen interest in the simulated software. Both the respondents confirmed that the use of simulated software results in better understanding of concepts in students but at the same time both interviewees reported that it seems difficult to apply the simulated software in our system of Education.  The performance of the students of experimental groups showed improvement, results in the rejection of hypotheses that there is no significant difference between the performance of students taught by conventional demonstration in laboratory and laboratory work facilitated with simulation. If proper physical facilities were available simulated software is the solutions of many problems faced by students and teachers in Chemistry laboratories. </em></p>

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a professional support (PS) intervention (including individualized health education and supportive phone calls) in reducing the severity of nausea and vomiting (NV) and improving the quality of life (QOL) of women in early pregnancy. An experimental pretest/posttest design with a control group was used. Participants were recruited from a regional teaching hospital in southern Taiwan. The women in the experimental group ( n = 40) received the PS intervention, while those in the control group ( n = 39) only received routine nursing care. Analysis of covariance and mixed models were used to compare the experimental and control groups while adjusting for covariates. The severity of NV and the perceived level of symptom distress were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group during weeks 2 and 4, and the women in the experimental group showed a significant improvement in their QOL in week 4 ( p < .05). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in body weight at week 4 ( p = .501). These findings provide empirical evidence in support of the effectiveness of PS in reducing the severity of NV and improving QOL for women during early pregnancy. This intervention could be routinely applied in prenatal nursing health education. Future studies could apply the concept of PS to different populations and health issues.
