In one tentative selection of music songs for music therapy for the hypertensive and coronary patients, the authors tried to evaluate the predilection for this patients for one music with fast tempo which is contraindicate because the activation of sympathetic tone with hypotensive effect and with increasing myocardial oxygen consumption effect. Preferences for fast or slow tempo music were evaluated in 200 subjects (four groups of patients: hypertension, coronary heart disease, non-cardiac + a control group of healthy subjects). The attractiveness of the subjects investigated for music was performed by awarding marks from 1 to 10 couples of the 6 songs heard (fast vs. slow). Statistical processing of differences between the averages of 4 groups showed significantly increased preference for fast music group coronary (p <0.01) and hypertension (p <0.05). The opinion of the authors is to advise these patients to listen predominant cardiac slow classical music (especially baroque, with major psychological relaxing effects but also having the effect of decreasing sympathetic hypertension.

Preterm birth is associated with increased risk of neurological, cognitive, motor or sensory impairment  and  behavioral problems. Music therapy appears to promote neurobehavioral outcomes and can improve  brain structure functions.The aim of the study presented in the article is to analyse a potential of  a special music therapy technique to shorten time to achieve full oral intake in children born extremely preterm, to (28 weeks) with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). We used the mother's singing during breastfeeding, with the slow  tempo (60 beats per minute) and a recurring pattern of stressed (strong) and unstressed  (weak) syllables (each second was highlighted) to help preterm babies to organize coordination of sucking swallowing and breathing.  This therapeutic approach is based on the theory and methods  of neurological music therapy called Patterned Sensory Enhancement (PSE). A total of 40 children were included in this Oxford pretest - posttest  study design. The experimental group used the PSE intervention technique (n = 20) was compared with the control group of children (n = 20) without the specific therapy.

Although music therapy is well documented in medical settings, the effects of the music therapy has not been well established yet. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the music therapy on anxiety, and pain symptoms of children with cancer. Participants (aged ranged 6-16) were randomly allocated to one of two music therapy groups: 1) earphones with classical music, no choice (n = 20) or 2) earphones with classical music, free choice (n = 20) and a control group (n = 20) (earphones without music). In all groups, children listened to music (or the white noise) for 10 minutes before the chemotherapy. All of the symptoms were measured before the music therapy, during the chemotherapy (after the music therapy), and after the chemotherapy. State Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAI-C), and Wong-Baker Faces Pain Rating Scale was used to measure the anxiety, and pain scores of the children. One-Way ANOVA and Mixed ANOVA analysis were used to analyse the effectiveness of the music. Results showed that the anxiety level of children decreased significantly in the music groups during and after the chemotherapy. However, music therapy did not affect the pain level of children Keywords: Music therapy, anxiety, pain, cancer;

Postpartum is a condition in which the reproductive organs return to normal which takes 6 weeks. The feeling of discomfort in postpartum mothers occurs because of the sensation of pain that is often complained of. One way to increase comfort for postpartum mothers is by providing non-pharmacological therapies, namely massage and listening to music. Music can provide impulses or stimuli that can override the pain signals. The literature review aims to describe the type of music that can increase the comfort of postpartum mothers. The method used is a literature review study. The database used from several journals and articles with a search process through Pubmed, Proquest, Springlink, Scopus, Google Scholar. The criteria for inclusion in this search were the year the articles were published, starting from 2010 to 2020. The type of classical music that has a medical connection is Mozart's music. Mozart music with a frequency of 40-60 Hz, tempo 60-80 bpm. Music therapy is given for approximately 20-30 minutes to produce a therapeutic effect with a period of twice a day for 2 days using headphones. Music used to increase comfort and reduce the anxiety that has a slow tempo, notes that are not too high or too low, has a low volume and is rhythmic with a simple arrangement, and a stable melody. The provision of music therapy, especially Mozart adagio classical music, affects reducing anxiety levels and reducing pain intensity so that it can provide a sense of comfort to postpartum mothers.
