The article elucidates the regularities of the use and functioning features of the lexemes til’ko and til’ky in Lesya Ukrainka’s autographs and published epistolary and poetic texts. The study, using the comparative analysis approach, proves that both lexemes have the status of variants and are fixed in the similar semantic contexts. The actualization of the lexemes in the usus of the Ukrainian language confirms that they are polysemantic by nature and grammatically heterogeneous. The case study has revealed a clear quantitative dominance of using the variant til’ko in autographs. But the form has been repeatedly corrected, mostly in the epistolary texts. The study of the twelve-volume edition of Lesya Ukrainka’s works confirms the statement. Although we come across the use of the lexeme til’ko in the poetic texts, such facts are less frequent and reveal the general tendency of editors to replace the lexeme, arguing the need to avoid this variant, most obviously, due to classifying it as dialectal and atypical in the speech of a person who ought to serve a model of modern literary language. Epistolary texts of the nearest relatives of the Kosachs and Drahomanovs families have been also used in the case study to determine the organicity or, on the contrary, the accidental presence of the lexeme til’ko in the vocabulary of Lesya Ukrainka. It favorably authenticated the naturalness of its use. The key findings of Lesya Ukrainka’s epistolary and poetic microcontexts comparison, both author’s and edited, argue that proofreading not only changes but, in fact, destroys the authentic text, distorts the individual style, and hinders the research process. We are to restore these features in modern editions of Lesya Ukrainka’s works and offer the scholars a genuine, rather than ‘retouched’, individual style of the author.

A number of horrific failures of both public and privately owned dams in recent decades has triggered serious concern over the safety of dams throughout the world. However, in Australia, although much Government attention is being devoted to the medium- to large-scale dams, minimal attention is being paid to the serious potential cumulative, catchment-wide problems associated with smaller private dams. The paper determines how to consider addressing hazardous private dam safety issues generally through a comparative analysis of international dam safety policy/law systems. The analysis has identified elements of best and minimum practice that can and do exist successfully to provide deserved assurance to the community of the proper safety management of hazardous private dams at both the individual and cumulative, catchment-wide levels. These elements provide benchmarks that enable ‘appropriate’ legislative arrangements to be determined for different jurisdictional circumstances as illustrated with an Australian policy-deficient case study.

The analysis of the problem of the relationship among folk, authors’ folk and authors’ literary tales with linguistic consciousness types is presented. The analysis results indicate that the texts of fairy tales are linguistic representatives of creative (artistic) consciousness and correlate with types of concepts. Folk tales reflect the creative potential of everyday consciousness and represent the folklore concept. Authors’ folk tales are interpretative tales that reflect the syncretic (collective and individual, folk and author’s) consciousness and implement the folklore and literary concept. The literary fairy tale itself is a textual representative of its author’s individual artistic consciousness and the reached artistic concept. It is important to take the form of fairy tales’ household into account – oral (folk tales) and written (author’s literary tales), their relationship with the subject (storyteller or author) and focus on the object (listener or reader). This determines the variability and non-variability of fairy tales. Types of linguistic consciousness are associated with the language: in folklore tales, folk language that is not processed by masters is used, in author’s tales, literary language that implements an individually authors’ system of language means is used. In folk tales, traditional folk poetry is presented, in author’s tales – traditionally artistic and artistic poetics. The individual style of folk tales is traditional for folklore and the individual style of literary tales is individually authors’.

We consider the color designation features in the poetic texts of Russian and French poets. An appeal to the lyric poetry of great writers from a chosen perspective expands and concretizes the existing ideas about the individual features of the authors’ style. Analysis object is the language units of poetry by S.A. Esenin and E. Verhaeren, containing color semantics. A comparative analysis of several works representative within the framework of the declared theme reveals the similarities and differences in the color palette of Esenin and Verhaeren’s lyrics. We consider the semantics of blue, white, yellow, red colors and their shades in poems of poets. Special attention is paid to the golden color poetics, the use of which is also focused on religious symbolism. We designate the vectors of changes in the set of colors in different periods of Esenin and Verhaeren’s creative activity, the dependence of the changes in the color scale on the general pathos of the poets and the events of their personal biography is determined. We clarify the reasons for the differences in color solutions in the landscape and philosophical poetry, explained by the authors’ belonging to different literary trends and national traditions. We provide examples of discrepan-cies in existing Russian translations of E. Verhaeren’s works with the provision of our own trans-lations.

The commercialization of university-based research occurs to varying degrees between academic institutions. Previous studies have found that multiple barriers can impede the effectiveness and efficiency by which academic research is commercialized. This case study was designed to analyze the status of the commercialization activity at the University of Kentucky via a survey and interview with a successful academic entrepreneur in order to determine the impediments the individual perceived during the commercialization process. The study also garnered insight from the individual as to how the commercialization process could be improved. Issues with infrastructure were highlighted as the most significant barrier faced by the individual. The research subject also suggested that commercialization activity may generally increase if a number of factors were mitigated. Such insight can be communicated to the administrative leadership of the commercialization process at the University of Kentucky. Long term, improving university-based research commercialization will allow academic researchers to be more active and successful entrepreneurs such that intellectual property will progress more freely to the marketplace for the benefit of inventors, universities, and society.

The paper presents a comparative analysis of the methods of creating a verbal portrait in the essay by Maxim Gorky “Sergei Yesenin” and in the memoires of Yury Annenkov “Sergei Yesenin”. The possibility and necessity of comparing the two selected works is explained by both the factual material chosen by the authors (both writers devote their essays to Sergei Yesenin) and similar methods of creating a verbal portrait of the poet, and the context of the style of the era, which is reflected in the works and the individual style of each artist. The aim of this work is to substantiate the genre-style features of the considered verbal image of Sergei Yesenin in the abovementioned works, which allows clarifying the created and already axiomatic image of the poet. The study is built using comparative historical and historical functional methods, the works of Alexander Veselovsky, Yuri Lotman, Yuriy Mineralov, as well as the experience of modern literary scholars involved in the theory and history of verbal painting. In the process of the comparative analysis of the works, it was revealed that Yury Annenkov and Maxim Gorky, recreating the verbal portrait of the poet Sergei Yesenin, was primarily seeking to portray him as an exponent of the tragic era. Capturing the image of the poet Sergei Yesenin, the painter creates his self-portrait, surrounded by his beloved, at the background of the era in which he lived, the writer tries to guide the reader inside the poetry laboratory of ‟nature”.

The article is devoted to the problem of punctuation transmission in poetic translation. Punctuation helps to understand the written form of the text. The structure, meaning, and intonation of the utterance dictate the setting of the necessary punctuation mark. In poetic works, punctuation also serves the purpose of highlighting or emphasizing the most significant elements. The search for adequate means of conveying intonation and highlighting semantic segments leads to a combination of various additional ways of formatting the text. The individual style of a writer or poet in a literary text is conveyed through stylistically significant marks of the author's punctuation. The translator must decide whether to keep the author's punctuation, omit it, or include the punctuation marks of the receiving language in the translation. Poetic translation often leads to a significant rearrangement of the text, in which the punctuation component refers to other speech segments than in the original text, what was shown by the example of translations of I. Bunin's poetic works.

This article considers theoretical and practical aspects of research of the transcription genre, grounds its stylistic properties, reliance on the model of other’s performance, double authorship, and action of composer’s interpretation. These issues are projected onto the timbre-texture complex in this genre as the most important factor of transcription. The material of the research was the concert arrangement of F. Lips and the transcription of A. Nazarenko to one original source – the play «Shivering Leaves» by P. Norrbak. Specificity of the analyzed musical material proposed in this article is the comparison of two arrangements – F. Lips and A. Nazarenko – in order to identify the distinctions between them, as well as the revelation of the individual-style spectra of the transcriptions genre in A. Nazarenko’s works. At this, it is noted that in creating the author’s version, A. Nazarenko relied not on the original Waltz by P. Norrbak, but on the F. Lips’ arrangement acting as a work model in this comparative analysis. In the analysis of the two versions, different methods of research are used, besides the comparative one – they are also interpretation, considering the problems of bayan performance; genre, and style, which characterize the compositional and dramatic features, genre-style specificity of musical exponents; organological, contributing to the research of the specificity of the instrument, here – bayan in the context of comparing its expressive possibilities in two plays. His research resulted in the identification of the principal distinctions in methods of artistic interpretation of two authors.

We studied the intragroup structuring of student groups and the psychological security of the individual in the educational environment. Modern research on the problems of psychological security and status structuring is considered. A comparative analysis of the differences between the 1st, 3rd and 5th courses was carried out. Significant differences in intragroup structuring between the 1st year and 3rd year groups, the 3rd year and 5th year groups were revealed, which is associated with the level of development at which each of the studied groups is located. A comparative analysis of the assessment of the perception of security and satisfaction with the educational environment of the university among students of different status categories was also carried out. Significant differences in the assessment of psychological safety between the leaders of student groups, average students and outsiders were found. It is established that the average students are more satisfied with the characteristics of the educational environment than the leaders; Low-status students highly assess their satisfaction with the characteristics of the educational environment, but at the same time they feel less protected in the university environment. It was revealed that with an average level of satisfaction with the educational environment, high-status students feel more psychologically protected than low-status students. It is concluded that the status structuring of the student group can act as one of the indicators that affect the students ' assessment of psychological security at the university. To increase the safety of the educational environment of the university, it is necessary to conduct socio-psychological work in student groups aimed at improving the status of students, especially from among outsiders. The obtained data can be useful in building a system of educational work in the university.
