Although traffic light controlled intersections separate, the traffic flows by time and space, road traffic accidents still occur, usually due to Red-Light Running (RLR). In order to define countermeasures to solve this problem, it is necessary to collect and analyze certain data that will indicate type of measures, which should be applied. In this paper, it was done on the example of one 3-leg and one 4-leg intersection where citizens provided information about frequent RLR to the City Administration of Belgrade (Serbia). The statistical significance of differences between the collected data was tested by ANOVA analysis and by PostHoc Tukey test, which showed that forecasting of second of RLR after red-light onset could effectively be conducted by Cubic distribution. In order to define the so-called RLR risk indicator for the intersection, the use of the Danger Degree (DD) indicator, that presents the rate between the number of dangerous situations caused by RLR and the total number of RLR, was proposed.

The red-light running (RLR) behaviors of urban mixed e-bike groups (delivery and ordinary e-bike) have become the main cause of traffic accidents at signalized intersections. The primary purpose of this study is to identify influencing factors of e-bike riders’ RLR behaviors, focusing on the role of delivery e-bike riders in mixed e-bike rider groups. Crossing behaviors of 4,180 e-bike samples (2006 delivery e-bikes and 2174 ordinary e-bikes) at signalized intersections are observed in Xi’an, China. The random parameter multinomial logit model is employed to capture the unobserved heterogeneous effects, and the effects of interaction terms are also considered. The results indicate that delivery e-bike riders are more likely to run red lights than ordinary e-bike riders. E-bike type, riders’ age, waiting position, traffic volume, traffic light type, and time of day are associated with crossing behaviors in urban mixed e-bike groups. In addition, the variable of traffic light status is found to account for unobserved heterogeneity. Findings are indicative to the development of effective implications in improving e-bikes’ traffic safety level at signalized intersections.

The number of vehicles on the roads of Almaty, Kazakhstan is growing from year to year. This brings about an increasing intensity and density of traffic flows in the streets which leads to congestion, decreasing speed of the traffic flow, increasing environmental pollution caused by car emissions, and which can potentially lead to the road traffic accidents (RTA), including fatalities. While the number of injuries grows up mainly due to drivers’ non-compliance with the speed limit, the environmental pollution is caused by longer traffic jams. Therefore, to reduce the level of road traffic injuries and emissions into the environment it is necessary to ensure the uniform movement of traffic flows in cities. Currently, one of the effective ways to do it is the use of transport telematics systems, in particular, control systems for road signs, road boards and traffic lights. The paper presents an analysis of existing systems and methods of traffic light regulation. The  analyses of the systems and methods are based on the use of homogeneous data, that is the data on standard parameters of traffic flows. The need in collecting and analyzing additional semi-structured data on the factors that have a significant impact on the traffic flows parameters in cities is shown as well. The work is dedicated to solving the problem of analysis and forecast of traffic flows in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. GPS data on the location of individual vehicles is used as the initial data for solving this problem. By projecting the obtained information onto the graph of the city's transport network, as well as using additional filtering, it is possible to obtain an estimate of individual parameters of traffic flows. These parameters are used for short-term forecast of the changes in the city's transport network.

Traffic accidents are serious public health problems, account for profound economic costs to individuals, families, and societies. The social impacts range from physiological to economic causes, which could be a serious negative effect, especially in undeveloped countries. To further elucidate this problem, the prevalence of injuries caused by traffic accidents in a Santa Ana Health Centre, Portoviejo, Ecuador, was studied. This registry-based retrospective study analyzed data on Santa Ana, from Enero 2016 to Diciembre 2019, and the medical records of patients who had been admitted were extracted and analyzed. Passengers cars, motorcycles, and bicycles involved in collisions were included, and the information collected was relating to sex, age, and type of injuries. In total, 75%±6.34 patients victims of road traffic injuries were males, and their mean age was 20 and 49 years. There was a cooperative agreement between total injury occurrence (%) and type of vehicle. Bus and car accidents had lower relation (R2 = 0.44, 078) (p = 0.063, 0.005) with total occurrence. The highest relation was found in motorbikes (R2 = 0.98 p = 2e-05), since it's the primary or most popular means of transportation in the city. The best of our knowledge is the first study to reporting data on road traffic injuries in the Province of Manabí, the third-largest province in extension in Ecuador. Additional studies with larger populations are thus necessary to construct a robust data system in undeveloped countries that can facilitate the flow of reliable information about road traffic injuries.

Background The development and implementation of widespread training for rules, techniques and methods of providing first aid to the widest possible range of people will significantly reduce the level of disability and mortality among victims of road traffic accidents (RTAs).Aim of study To study the organization of first aid for the victims in the Arkhangelsk region.Material and methods Part 1. The journals of registration of attendance at classes with a trained contingent in the educational-methodical department of the School of Disaster Medicine of the Territorial Center for Disaster Medicine of the Arkhangelsk Region for the period from 01.01.2012 to 12.31.2018 are analyzed. Part 2. We selected 906 medical records of patients (003/u) affected by an accident on the federal highway M-8 “Kholmogory” and treated in hospitals of Arkhangelsk region, admitted acutely in period from 01.01.2012 till 31.12.2018. The study was conducted according to the criteria of retrospective continuous documentary observation. As a criterion of statistical significance, the probability of a random error of less than 5% (p<0.05) was applied using the correction for multiple comparisons (Bonferroni correction).Conclusion 1. The educational activities of the TCDH of the Arkhangelsk Region over a seven-year period are characterized by a significant increase in the total number of trained cadets (p<0.001); 2-fold increase in the number of trained motor vehicle drivers (p<0.001) and employees of Ministry of Emergency Situations and Russian Interior Ministry (p<0.001). 2. The first aid to injured in an accident on the federal highway M-8 Kholmogory in the Arkhangelsk Region was provided in 65 cases (7.2%); in almost 90% of cases, first aid was recorded in the Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk medical districts of the Arkhangelsk region (p<0.001).

Background: Traffic accidents are unpredictable events when they occurred. Thus, understanding the risk factors in road traffic injuries is needed.Objective: This study aims to analyze the risk factors in road traffic accidents in the city of Palu.Methods: This was an observational analytic study using case-control approach with sample of 182 respondents consisting of 91 cases and 91 controls. Purposive sampling was used based on a certain considerations made by the researchers themselves. Data were tested with Odds Ratio and analyzed by univariate and bivariate with a confidence level of 95%.Results: The results showed that the scatterbrained factor (OR = 3.180 95% CI 1.669 to 6.059), undisciplined behavior (OR = 11.990 at 95% CI 5.956 to 24.138), exceeding speed limit (OR = 4.230 95% CI 2.204 to 8.118 ), and no driving license (OR = 10.455 at 95% CI 5.274 to 20.722).Conclusion: This study concludes that the scatterbrained factor, undisciplined behavior, exceeding the speed limit, and no driving license are the risk factors for road traffic accidents in the city of Palu. It is recommended that all parties to cooperate with the good for the sake of safety and driving safety as well as prevention of road traffic accidents.

Data from the City Blitar City Police Unit in 2016, as many as 1,799 or 15.9% of students committed traffic violations, from January to March 2017 as many as 438 or 11.3% of students committed  traffic violations. In addition to violations, 25 or 15.1% of traffic accidents involving students occurred. The accident caused 68 students to become victims. In 2017 January to March as many as 6 or 12.5% students were involved in traffic accidents. The accident caused 21 students to become victims. According to the data, it can be seen that the number of traffic violations in Blitar City is dominated by students, both students of junior high schools, senior high schools or vocational high schools. Then the Save Our Student (SOS) program was implemented to reduce the number of traffic offenses for students. The Save Our Student (SOS) Program is a Satlantas Polres Blitar Kota program in collaboration with schools, both Middle School (SMP), Senior High School (SMA) or Vocational High School (SMK) in Blitar City. The Save Our Student (SOS) Program is a program based on Law Number 22 Year 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transport and the Safety riding program. The Save Our Student (SOS) program is not just a momentary program, but an ongoing program in an effort to reduce the number of traffic violations on students in the City of Blitar. The Blitar City Police Traffic Unit Police in implementing the Save Our Student (SOS) Program needs a communication strategy, where the success rate of a goal will be achieved along with how the communication strategy is carried out in implementing the Save Our Student (SOS) Program. The purpose of the program, which is to reduce the number of traffic violations among students and prevent traffic accidents with fatality fatalities will be achieved.

Abstract The paper aims to explore the possibilities of improving road traffic in the central area of cities characterized by a longitudinal arrangement of the street network, with application for the case of Pitesti, where the road network in the central area consists of two main roads arranged longitudinally, having one-way regulated traffic, interconnected by several streets. A special traffic problem is reported in the city center: on the main road connecting the two boulevards, the vehicle storage space is insufficient - because the distance between the two road intersections is too small and there is no correlation between the Green phases of traffic lights in the two intersections. The research, based on traffic measurements performed with DataFromSky software and micro-simulation traffic analyses performed with Vissim PTV software, indicated that the best solution is the partial or total correlation of the green time from the traffic light intersections that delimit the connecting road artery. As, almost exclusively, the works dedicated to the correlation of green light of traffic lights treat the problem only along the road arteries, this paper raises a special issue and reveals the possibility of simple solutions, by correlating the traffic lights at the intersections connecting the main arteries.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the care flow for women victims of Road Traffic Accidents (RTA). Method: a descriptive study with 782 women victims of RAT, classified by the Manchester Triage System (MTS) between 2015 and 2016. The sociodemographic profile and the time between the stages of care were analyzed, as well as care place and outcomes. Results: of the women in the study, 65.47% were young adults, 80.44% lived without a partner and 62.28% lived in the city of Belo Horizonte. Regarding the time between recording and risk classification, the mean was 7.7 minutes (SD: 9.9). The prevalent flowchart was “Great Trauma” (62.92%). 53.07% had “Red/Orange” priority level and the most prevalent outcome was “Discharge after consultation/medication”. Conclusion: the study shows that the hospital partially fulfills the times recommended by the MTS. Analyzing the flow of women victims of RAT contributed to optimize the quality and efficiency of care.

Pedestrians are a part of vulnerable road users which safety requires a special attention. Official statistics in Estonia from the last decade returns the following numbers: around 30 % of all road traffic accidents in the country were accidents with pedestrians, 32 % of all traffic fatalities were finished with pedestrian death. Pedestrian crossing has the biggest risk level between all kinds of pedestrian facilities, because it includes a direct conflict point between vehicle and pedestrian traffics. The article presents a method to assess risk of pedestrian crossing users and to determine safety level of this road infrastructure element. This approach is based on observation and collection of infrastructural as well as traffic data, which includes: (1) information about each pedestrian crossing facility, its location and state, (2) data about accidents with pedestrians and their features, (3) data from road traffic measurements. The main advantages of the described method are universality and comprehensiveness. The case study was done in Kristiine district of the city Tallinn, which was chosen as the most typical average district of Estonian capital. Introduction Pretibial lacerations are common injuries, often presenting in the elderly and infirm. Unclear management pathways often result in inappropriate care. We identify patient demographics, morbidity risk factors, injury severity and management options. Materials and methods This retrospective study involved analysing databases and hardcopy notes for patients admitted with pretibial lacerations to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, January to December 2012. Microsoft Excel and Fishers exact test were used to analyse the data with a P-value of less than 0.05 representative of statistical significance. Information on patient demographics, site of lesion, preoperative symptoms, management, operative details and clinical outcomes were collected. Results A total of 36 patients were identified; the mean age was 79 years (± 16 years, 1 standard deviation) with a three to two female to male preponderance; 57% of injuries were caused by mechanical fall, 33% traumatic blunt impact and 7% road traffic accidents. American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification was 43% level III, 40% II, 9% I and 9% IV. Dunkin classification of severity was 33% grade III, 30% grade I, 24% grade IV and 12% grade II. Median inpatient duration was 11 days for surgically managed compared with 15 days for conservatively managed patients. Discussion Pretibial lacerations tend to affect the elderly. Management is compounded by polypharmacy and comorbidities. If inadequately managed, such injuries can adopt characteristics of chronic wounds, with lengthy inpatient stays. Surgical intervention may be appropriate where injuries are severe and the patient stable enough for theatre. Conclusions We believe that surgical management with autologous tissue repair, with minimal delay between presentation and theatre, is warranted for extensive injuries wherever possible, with conservative management used for predominantly less extensive pretibial lacerations.
