Dropping out from the school system at High School level has been a problem for several years; high levels of mathematics’ failing have been a recurring situation. This paper discusses how academic virtual counseling might be a tool to help students in math class. The methodological approach is based in the non-experimental, longitudinal model evolution and in the designs of evolutionary group analysis, we stated the possibility to generalize the results of the use of technological resources in the teaching of mathematics in order to find out if it is possible to improve the levels of students at a school in upper level education. According to this research, the use of educational platforms as a resource for the subject of mathematics represents not only a technological tool for teachers but also offers students the opportunity to view this subject as an academic challenge to overcome

Being able to read in English is very important. Success in reading is the most necessary because it is a basic tool of education. Based on the syllabus of Islamic Senior high School Hidayatul Mubtadiin (MAHM), it is hoped that students should comprehend monolog texts in narrative, spoof and hortatory exposition forms well. After doing preliminary observation at MAHM, some of the students of the second year still had low ability in their reading comprehension. The dominant factors influencing their low reading comprehension are the lack of vocabulary and teaching strategy of reading comprehension. From the two of dominant factors, the researcher is interested to investigate about teaching reading comprehension. Thus, the researcher conducted a research on the effect of Multipass strategy on Reading comprehension. This research investigates students’ reading comprehension taught by using multipass strategy at MAHM Siak Sri Inderapura. The design of this study was Quasi-experimental research by post-test only. The subject of this research was the second year students of MAHM. The total population was 42 students, and the sample was 42 students. Data were collected by using a test. Then, the data were analyzed by using t-test formula. It was found that there was a significant effect of using multi pass strategy on students’ reading comprehension at MAHM.

In deciding what mathematics should be taught at any grade level it is necessary to know the mathematical needs of the students. However, unless we subscribe to the doctrine that no one should learn more about anything than he will need to live at that particular age level, we must also consider the future needs of the students as well. I do not subscribe to this doctrine, hence in this discussion considerable weight will be given to the mathematical needs of adults in deciding what shall be taught to children. This seems especially necessary at the high school level, since, in the case of mathematics, the student is often taking his last course in the subject.

This study investigated the self-efficacy beliefs of Integrated Science Teachers in Senior High Schools and its impact on their instructional practice. The study employed the mixed method approach adopting the descriptive survey design. The study employed the use of questionnaire, interview and observation to collect data from 138 participants. Findings of the study observed that majority of the teachers had the requisite qualification to teach at the senior high school level, not all of them can confidently teach Integrated Science as an integrated whole. Some participants were of the view that since the subject encompass the various branches of science with the three main branches of the natural science dominating, it is imperative that more integrated science specialist are employed to handle the subject as an integrated whole and not in aspects as majority of the schools in the country are doing. Again, it was realised from this study that, teachers confidence level were low whenever they are teaching aspects that are not in their field of study. The study therefore recommends that regular, effective and efficient organisation of science workshops and seminars, continuous discussions about issues relating to the effective teaching of science in Senior High Schools should be held at least once every two years to enable teachers be updated with current practices in education. Again stakeholders of education should institute a scholarship package to enable more teachers to be trained to teach Integrated Science as an integrated whole to boost confidence in students. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0895/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

Currently there is a fairly large number of educational platforms; therefore, it is crucial to enter that virtual universe and use it as a tool to develop learning strategies that contribute to the appropriation of knowledge. This research aims to identify technology-mediated learning strategies that promote previous concept and meaningful learning in the subject of Biology at the high school level. To analyze the object of this study, a quantitative methodology of exploratory-descriptive type was used to know the strategies mediated by technology that develop the appropriation of knowledge of Biology content. There was an experimental group and a controlled one to apply a pre-diagnosis, treatment and post-diagnosis. From these data, the results were: Significant difference in the experimental group after the didactic intervention, since the subjects showed mastery of basic concepts of Biology and considered that the application of this type of strategies are fundamental for the understanding and organization of main ideas in the construction of meaningful learning. Besides, they affirmed that the assimilation and appropriation of knowledge depend on the strategies mediated by technology.

The purpose of this study was to explore the students’ problem solving skill to solve problem in Archimedes principle on the senior high school level. The method of this study was mixed method with explanatory follow up explanation design. The subject of this study was 30 students of k-11 in SMAN 9 Malang. The kuantitative data was collected through survey by 2 essay questions with reliability cronbah alpha 0,70. The qualitative data was collected through interview after analyze student answare. The aim of this interview was to follow up the pattern of student answare. The result of this study shown that students’ expert attitude began solve problem through definite problem qualitatively. In addition, the students’ novice attitude refer to not describe a problem qualitatively.

The relevance of the topic under study is conditioned by the dissatisfaction of both teachers and students with their relations with each other, which primarily blocks the formation of subjectness, student activity, including that in educational activities. The purpose of the study presented in the article is to study the possibility of predetermining constructiveness of interaction between teachers and students through personal and communicative qualities of teachers. Presumably, the constructive characteristics of teachers’ self-attitude can predetermine formation of professionally significant communicative characteristics: accepting personality of others as they are (lack of personality evaluation); building trust with students; creation the feeling of confidence in one’s capabilities in another person; teacher’s ability to stop him/herself from putting pressure on another person and rejection of manipulation, which, in turn, acts as a condition that predetermines the subject-subject interaction with students. The study was carried out on a sample of teachers (n = 72) of the middle and high school level of a Moscow general education school and students in grades 7–11 (n = 402) of the same school using the author’s methodology called “Features of self-attitude”, which includes the following scales: “faith in oneself” – allowing to study the constructiveness/destructiveness of self-attitude; mindfulness; autosympathy; self-esteem; self-management, and the technique called “Communicative qualities of teachers.” The results of correlation analysis using the Spearman’s coefficient confirmed the hypotheses. The obtained empirical data on the influence of the emotional component of the teacher’s self-attitude on the type of interaction with students allows us to state that there is a need for introduction of psychological support into the practice of supporting teachers’ activities. Traditionally, psychological service has been more focused on students and their parents, while personality of a teacher, who is definitely one of the most important subjects in education, does not get any proper psychological support.

Adolescent who are currently sitting on high schools or should be equal begin to prepare for a career on the next one. Career determination is based on desire and potential of interests and talents. To understand these interests and potential, a measurement must be taken, one of them with an intelligence measuring instrument. The purpose of this study is to provide a profile of the adolescent girls intelligence living at the female orphanage in Solo city. This study is a descriptive quantitative study. The measuring instrument uses the IST intelligence test instrument. The career interest survey uses the RMIB. The subjects used were 8 beneficiaries in the female orphanage. Determination of the subject using purposive sampling, namely adolescent girls who sit at the high school level or equivalent. The measurement results show 2 people with IQ in the category above average, and 6 people with the average category. Of the 5 categorizations, no subject was in the low category. While the categories indicated by 3 aspects, namely, verbal ability, analytical power, and memory

In 1985, the National University of Mexico (UNAM) created a series of updating courses for high-school level teachers, both as an answer to an explicit demand of the teachers themselves, who asked for “fresh” information in their fields, and as an effort to improve the general level of undergraduate students, whose grades in the entrance examinations to the University had been secularly decreasing for years. To date, three “packages” of intensive 50-hour courses have been offered (during the three summer vacation periods) and Astronomy has been present in all of them. However, it should be mentioned that this presence was due only to the personal interest of the director of the project, since the subject “Astronomy” is not included in the official programs. In the following, we present a brief description of the courses and some interesting results.

The making of knowledge is based on the interaction between the subject and the object, and the digital educational games guarantee a multimedia interactivity, because visual and sound stimuli and action resources are conjoined. A game was developed to support the teaching about the digestive system in Science and Biology classes at the elementary and high school level. Magic forest, a game about digestion was created by Adobe Captivate software, using photographs of histological sections under a light microscope, and illustrations and animations made by Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects software. The cells of the stomach were personified and inserted in a storyboard about their functional role. Puzzles and memory exercises promoted playfulness and interactivity. Audio was added. The game was published in learning environment Virtual museum of the human body learning environment (www.ufrgs.br/museuvirtual/jogos) with free access. Because visual language and interactivity features of the game, we hope to promote in a dynamic and playful way the understanding about the structure and the physiology of the digestive system.

The study examined the attitude of third-year science and mathematics students towards the study of Physics in the Tamale College of Education, Ghana. A case study involving a sample of one hundred and thirty–three students was adopted for the study. Using a structured questionnaire, data was collected from the selected sample. The Likert rating scale was adopted to indicate the extent of agreement or disagreement. General findings from the study indicated that the majority of the respondents had a negative perception towards the study of Physics. The research recommended that preferably only students who offered Elective Physics at the Senior High School level should be admitted to study Physics at the College level as this would facilitate the smooth teaching and learning of the subject. It was also suggested that Physics tutors should use innovative strategies to make the teaching and learning of the subject interesting and attractive.
