A mobile application is a type of software application developed to run on a mobile device. The chapter discusses the main characteristics of mobile devices, since they have a great impact on mobile applications. It also presents the classification of mobile applications according to two main types: native and web-based applications. Finally, this chapter identifies the most relevant types of quality attributes for mobile applications. It shows that the relevant quality attributes for mobile applications are usually framed in the Usability, Performance, and Maintainability and Support categories.

Explosive mobile applications (Apps) are proliferating with the popularity of mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets). These Apps are developed to satisfy different function needs of users. Majority of existing App Stores have difficulty in recommending proper Apps for users. Therefore, it is of significance to recommend mobile Apps for users according to personal preference and various constraints of mobile devices (e.g., battery power). In this paper, we propose a mobile App recommendation framework by incorporating different requirements from users. We exploit modern portfolio theory (MPT) to combine the popularity of mobile Apps, personal preference, and mobile device constraints for mobile App recommendation. Based on this framework, we discuss the recommendation approaches by constraints of phone power and limited mobile data plan. Extensive evaluations show that the proposed mobile App recommendation framework can well adapt to power and network data plan constraints. It satisfies the user App preference and mobile device constraints.

In the todays Communication world, mobile and its applications are the most emerging trends. Mobile applications are the exact replacements of web based applications. Based on this statistics we are planning to migrate web based application of college library to mobile application. In most of the college website we see applications like latest news, Attendance, Login and Registrations, EBooks, Forums, Results, Chat application, Web Mail, etc.. Based on the same we would to do the same thing in a mobile application. The reason behind the work is that the mobile applications do not need any third party browsers, or they don't need any domain registration. So in order to take the advantages of all this limitations we are planning to develop the mobile applications. Now the main important modules that I want to implement on my mobile application is OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for a library account. Using OPAC mechanism in mobile one can just access the library account of his/her from anywhere using his mobile device, So that they can check the availability of books in the library instead of going to library. They can even check the number of books that are taken in there account and its submission date, fine to be paid in case.

The number of mobile applications has been increasing rapidly in every field of life with the increasing use of smart devices. Smartphones and tablets make our lives easier with their properties and application they include. Minor or major accidents in traffic are always present in the daily life resulting in financial damage and loss of lives. There have been a number of studies done to speed up the processes to be done from the moment an accident happens. This study aims to enable people to perform all of the post-accident processes quickly and accurately with the use of mobile devices. In this way, papers and documents like photographs will be sent to the competent authorities without wasting time and effort. In addition, access to the road assistance needed will be quite easy. Keywords: Traffic accident, loss assessment and proceedings, mobile application.

The evaluation of mobile applications is increasingly taking into account the users of such applications’ mobility (e.g., Mizobuchi, Chignell, & Newton, 2005; Mustonen , Olkkonen, & Hakkinen, 2004). While clearly an important factor, mobility on its own often does not require the user’s visual focus to any great extent. Real-life users, however, are required to be aware of potential hazards while moving through their environment. This chapter outlines a simple classification for describing these distractions and two evaluations into the effect visual distractions have on the users of a mobile application. In both cases, the participants were required to monitor both their environment and the display of their mobile device. The results of both evaluations indicated that monitoring the environment has an effect on both task performance and the subjective workload experienced by the participants, indicating that such distractions should be considered when designing future evaluations.

Recent advances in mobile computing have spawned a very heterogeneous environment of mobile devices, which is reflected by the presence of the devices’ different capabilities. This chapter focuses on handling this device heterogeneity in the context of content adaptation of mobile services so that generic content can be provided to any device in the heterogeneity spectrum. We present an approach that enables mobile services to adapt its content provision to a mobile device by considering the device’s content provision capabilities. Those capabilities encompass both the communication channels for content delivery and the capabilities to present content to the user. Our approach is designed as a service platform that implements a content adaptation procedure for Web-based mobile services by utilizing device capability databases and generic page transformation. This approach enables mobile devices to visualize any generic content device specifically on their integrated browsers.

There have been great improvements in mobile technologies recently. In line with these developments, the use of mobile technologies in web based distance learning seems to be increasing day by day making learning possible via mobile devices. Both the continuous and rapid developments in mobile devices and the growing number of people with mobile phones render these technologies fruitful and actively used in many fields, including education worldwide, inclusive of our own country. Mobile learning is regarded as a reliable distant education tool for learners who wish to continue their education from outside the institutions. The study was conducted to measure the reactions of individuals to the developed mobile applications and give insight to them. The aim of this study is to identify undergraduate students’ use and attitudes of/towards mobile learning who are studying at Trakya University Kesan Yusuf Capraz School of Applied Disciplines. Observations were made about the use and the importance of mobile learning in our lives.Peer-review under responsibility of of the organizing committee of GLOBE-EDU Keywords: Distant Education; E-Learning; Mobile Devices; Mobile Learning; M-Learning

The development of mobile communication technology leads people to use technology not only as a communication tool, but also as a tool to find a variety of information, and news. Today's society considers mobile communications media as a very practical needs in its use and has high mobility. Many news portal now also includes news portal applications for mobile devices. Ganto UNP news portal does not provide the application which led to the news portal infrequently accessed through mobile devices because of the view that is not user-friendly when accessed through the device. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to design a mobile application for Ganto news portal. So that mobile device users no longer need to access the Ganto news portal through a web browser. Simply by using the mobile application. This application was designed with the Java programming language, Eclipse as an IDE, Eclipse ADT as a plugin on android, and the Android SDK for Android application development, as well as the AVD emulator to run the android system. Programming language used to build web-service is PHP programming language and MySQL DBMS that has owned news portals Ganto as data storage server. By utilizing the Android mobile device technology, successfully obtained an application that can accommodate the needs of people who have a high level of mobility to access information on Ganto news portals anytime and anywhere effectively and efficiently.  Keywords   : News Portal, Ganto, Android, web-service.

Ear training aims to ensure the development of individuals receiving music education. There are mobile applications which music students can do hearing studies. The aim of this research; it is determining the content of ear training applications that can be accessed on the internet and downloaded to mobile devices to make a comparative analysis. In the research, 11 mobile applications with 100 thousand or more users were analyzed in terms of Turkish support, courses and ear training studies. As a result of the analyzes made, it was determined that in some applications, interval, scale and chord subjects were explained. It is comprehended that theoretical studies such as setting up defining intervals, scales and chords are included in the applications where ear training are carried out.In some applications, interval, scale, chord vocalization and playing exercises are additionally included. In line with these results; it is suggested to develop a mobile application in which the topics are arranged according to a curriculum, the exercises support the lectures, and the Turkish support is included. Keywords: Music, ear training, mobile applications
