The world of commerce has undergone a transformation since the early 1990s, which has increasingly included the utilization of information technologies by firms across industry sectors in order to achieve greater productivity and profitability. In other words, through use of such technologies as mainframes, PCs, telecommunications, state-of-the-art software applications and the Internet, corporations seek to utilize productive resources in a way that augment the efficiency with which they provide the most appropriate mix of goods and services to their ultimate consumer. This process has provided the backbone to the evolution of the information economy which has included increased investment in information technology (IT), the demand for IT labor and the initiation of such new paradigms as e-commerce.

This paper reviews the complex, overlapping ideas of two prominent Italian philosophers, Lorenzo Magnani and Luciano Floridi, with the aim of facilitating the nonviolent transformation of self and world, and with a focus on information technologies in mediating this process. In Floridi’s information ethics, problems of consistency arise between self-poiesis, anagnorisis, entropy, evil, and the narrative structure of the world. Solutions come from Magnani’s work in distributed morality, moral mediators, moral bubbles and moral disengagement. Finally, two examples of information technology, one ancient and one new, a Socratic narrative and an information processing model of moral cognition, are offered as mediators for the nonviolent transformation of self and world respectively, while avoiding the tragic requirements inherent in Floridi’s proposal.

The paper examines the trends of international business in the field of information technology in the context of global constraints associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. In terms of global restrictions, the role of information technology development in the resilience of companies to changes in the external environment and ensuring the possibility of business survival is particularly acute. Analytical IT forecasts need to be considered to be ready for change. It was found that despite the appearance of growth in the field of information technology, due to the pandemic, and the transition of a many number of operations online, in general, there is a reduction. These trends are due to the fact that in the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, most companies and individuals will delay the modernization of hardware and software, trying to use what already exists. However, a more detailed analysis shows the heterogeneity in the change in demand for certain types of information technology services. Thus, there is an increase in such information technology services as public cloud services and video conferencing, and the presence of deferred demand in declining areas. At the same time, it can be argued that in the long run we can expect a resumption of rapid growth in demand for most information technology services, the consumption of which has been postponed. Today, software vendors help companies of all sizes and industries survive, grow and grow. We looked at the ten most profitable IT companies in the world in 2020. All of them have the highest revenue as of November 18, 2020. The ranking includes mainly US companies, countries with developed post-industrial economies. Almost 80 % of US GDP is accounted for by services, which has made them a world leader in this segment. Material production accounts for only 20 % of GDP, including all industries, agriculture and forestry, construction. Focus on scientific and technological progress is one of the hallmarks of an effective economic system. Given the current trends in the development of IT technologies, we can say that they are the driving force of global transformation and economic growth of the world, as well as increase the competitive advantage of any economic entity.

Just as there is no ideal society, there is no society without corruption. Fighting corruption is one way to achieve the UN-approved goals of sustainable development. The article summarizes the process of formation and implementation of international anti-corruption standards and their features in different national legal systems. It is determined that the adoption and recognition of standards does not in itself solve the problem, which is why the world is constantly looking for ways to combat corruption, testing new tools and mechanisms to influence corruption risks. This is confirmed by numerous projects funded by international donor organizations. Information technologies create endless opportunities not only for economics development (robotics, blockchain technology, neural networks, artificial intelligence, quantum virtual and augmented reality), but also for the fight against corruption: from e-government and courts, digital public services and tools that report about the facts of corruption, to the means of influencing society through social networks. The article analyzes scientific and professional research in the field of digitalization of anti-corruption activities and substantiates the relationship of these concepts from the standpoint of the impact of IT technologies on combating and preventing corruption. The article summarizes modern technological advances and their implementation in various national legal systems, defines the role of information technology in the fight against corruption and forms an understanding of information technology as a tool to control and combat corruption.

Technology is defined as a device to compensate for human physical, psychological, and mental limitations. It is usually neutral, but can havefunctional and dysfunctional aspects based on its users’ intentions.Historically, the technological haves have justified the existence and possessionof new technologies, have publicized their own innocence andsense of responsibility in using them, and have asserted the innocuousnessof their devices without necessarily sharing all of their secrets. Concernedand helpless, the technological have-nots have resisted them and, havingsuffered their deadly devastation, have tried to obtain them at great risk tothemselves. However, the situation of information technology/-ies (IT) isdifferent and more interesting. The haves have attempted to popularizetheir use globally for commercial and other reasons. Many have-nots areembracing them wholeheartedly, while some are more cautious. One motivation behind the use of these technologies is globalization. The increasingly popularized term globalization is rather vague and complex, allowing a variety of interpretations and hidden intentions. Thehave-nots seem to see it as the West’s redoubled efforts at Westernizingthe world with all its pains, pleasures, and perversions; as achieving politicalhegemony as the sole superpower after the end of the Cold War; andas the “opening up of the globe” for commercial control on its own terms.Initially the world, especially the nations of South Asia, saw for themselvesa rare opportunity in the globalization of trade and IT. But since thecontagion has now spread, rather too fast, across the globe, the world cansee more clearly both the prospects and the problems of these two majorglobal trends. The purpose of this paper is to identify various issuesinvolved in these trends, and to discuss, in greater depth, some of them, namely, global business, the promise of technology, and the globalizationof media and culture ...

Empowerment is an important and desirable state for employees within business enterprises around the world. Yet, the pursuit of empowerment across national boundaries may vary due to innate differences within cultures. This may be particularly true with respect to choice of technologies for achieving empowerment. Using an interpretive field study of Fellows within the Japanese MITI and US Dept. of Commerce Manufacturing Technology Fellowship (MTF) Program, this study suggests that the achievement of empowerment through choice of information technology is matched to cultural context. Specifically, employees of Japanese companies prefer, need, and use media-rich information technologies in their efforts to achieve empowerment. In contrast, employees of American companies prefer, need, and use collaborative information technologies in their pursuit of empowerment. These findings suggest that information technology is used synergistically with cultural attributes in the enhancement of employee empowerment.
