Integrating Zakat and Microfinance

This chapter bridges the concepts of microfinance and Zakat, and proposes a conceptual framework as a potential strategy to solve poverty. This study employs qualitative approach. Specifically, it performs content analysis on related manuscripts, and conducts a structured interview with selected stakeholders of Zakat institutions. The study proposes that Zakat institution must have a clear definition about which Zakat fund portion should be used for the program. Authors propose the use of amil for the program and it must be given by amil voluntarily and there must be clear mechanism on which deserving categories (asnaf/mustahik) should be prioritised to be the part of the program. In practice, amil can be considered as investors (where Zakat institution distributes and becomes Islamic microfinance institution) or financial intermediary (where the amil distributes and becomes Islamic microfinance institution appointed by the authority).

The aim of this study was to analyze the meanings and experiences of early contact and breastfeeding of the postpartum women admitted at a Baby-Friendly Hospital. It is a descriptive, exploratory study, with qualitative approach, that was developed in a teaching hospital in the Northwest of Paraná state between November 2011 and January 2012, involving the participation of 16 postpartum women. Data were collected by means of non-participant systematic observation of the childbirths and semi-structured interview. The data collected were analyzed using the thematic content analysis. The results revealed that, soon after childbirth, the child-mother binomial provided the woman with a unique experience, triggering various sensations into the bio-psycho-social-cultural context of each one of the mothers, with feelings and meanings that favored the mother-child bond and the outset of breastfeeding.

Objetivo: conhecer a percepção dos enfermeiros sobre marketing pessoal e verificar como o utilizam em seu cotidiano de trabalho. Metodologia: estudo exploratório, descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa, que utilizou entrevistas semiestruturadas com 16 enfermeiros, submetidas à Análise de Conteúdo. Resultados: emergiram três categorias: Percepção sobre marketing profissional, Imagem pessoal e Projeção do ambiente organizacional. Várias estratégias foram utilizadas para potencializar o marketing pessoal, como imagem, aparência e postura ética, as quais contribuíram para a visibilidade da profissão. Conclusões: os profissionais reconheceram a importância de investir na própria imagem, como forma de valorizar a si mesmo e a profissão.Descritores: Marketing, Autoimagem, Papel Profissional, Enfermagem.PERSONAL MARKETING AND NURSING: PROJECTION FOR THE NURSE SOCIAL VISIBILITYObjective: to know the perception of nurses about personal marketing and verify how they use it in their daily work. Methodology: exploratory, descriptive qualitative approach study, that applied a semi-structured interview to 16 nurses, submitted to Content Analysis. Results: three categories were identified: Perception about professional marketing, Personal image and Projection of the organizational environment. Several strategies were used to improve the personal marketing, as image, appearance, and ethical posture, which contributed to the visibility of the profession.   The objective was to know the perception of the caregiver about the learning needs of care to be performed at home. This is an exploratory descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. Data collection occurred through a semi-structured interview, from August to October 2014, with six caregivers of patients hospitalized in a medium-sized hospital in the municipality of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State. The data were analyzed by the content analysis method, identifying two categories: The caregiver's perception about the learning needs; The attendance of the caregiver's learning needs. The study showed that the learning based on empirical, instinctive and observational methodologies, without the participation of the nurse in the process. There is need to improve this learning. The participation of the nurse as an educator in the planning, organization and development of the educational action stands out, since he/she is part of the care; however, the caregivers did not visualize this professional.

The purpose of this study was to examine the sharia compliance of the Hybrid Contract of the Syriah Microfinance Institution (LKMS) in Jepara Regency. This type of research is a Field Research, using a content analysis approach; to interpret data not as a series of physical events, but as symbolic symptoms to reveal the meaning contained in a text, and the understanding of the message presented. The research object selected was BMT in Jepara Regency which applies contract and unique hybrid products, namely BMT Mitra Muamalah (Mitramu) which has the product "Gold Pawn" and BMT Harapan Bersama (HARBER) which has a Musyarakah Mutanaqishah (MMq) product. The results showed that the Musyarakah Mutanaqishah (MMq) financing agreement at BMT Harapan Bersama (HARBER) Jepara was in accordance with the DSN-MUI fatwa NO: 73 / DSN-MUI / XI / 2008. Rahn's contract which is run by BMT Mitra Muamalah Jepara is in accordance with the DSN-MUI Fatwa Number: 25 / DSN-MUI / III / 2002, and Fatwa DSN-MUI Number: 26 / DSN-MUI / III / 2002.. Weak internal and external supervision at Cooperative entities, the implementation of hybrid contracts in the field is prone to deviations and falling to "Riba".

<p>The purpose of this study was to determine preschoolers’ and their families’ perceptions of the museum. Participant of the study included 20 children under the age of 5 studying in preschools and their families in 2014-2015 academic years. A semi-structured interview form developed by researchers based on the conceptual framework was used to gather data. Pre-test and posttest were conducted to determine preschoolers’ perceptions of museum. The interview form was first examined via SPSS 15 Windows Packet and frequencies of families’ perceptions of museum, percentage values and content analysis were conducted to analyze the data. Context analysis was used to find out the perceptions of children about museum. The results of the study shed light on preschoolers’ perceptions of museum.</p>

ABSTRACTObjective: comprehending the feelings experienced by the nurses during palliative care toward hospitalized elderly. Method: this is about a descriptive and explorative study from qualitative approach, using semi-structured interview as a technique to collect theme oral story from ten nurses who decided to take part on the research. The context was Palliative Care Unit of a Geriatric Center in Salvador (BA) city, from May to August 2005. Bardin’s Content Analysis was used to assist the analysis of the interviewed nurses’ speech. The Research performance was approved by the Committee of Ethic on Health of Santo Antônio Hospital by registry 021/2005. Results: feelings of anguish, neglecting, pain, suffering, frustration and incapacity arose from the nurses’ speech and they were related to the academics. However, the volunteers, faced with their experience, have noted and transmuted these feelings, improving their comprehension about palliative care for learning and comfort. Conclusion: it was noted that, during the daily dealing with hospitalized elderly patients in terminal condition, nurses have been trying to change the feelings faced with the finitude of life, overcoming all the challenges involved in an academic turned to curing. Describers: emotions; palliative care; fragile elderly. RESUMOObjetivo: compreender os sentimentos vivenciados pelas enfermeiras durante o cuidado paliativo de idosos hospitalizados. Método: estudo qualitativo, exploratório, descritivo, utilizando a entrevista semi-estruturada como técnica para coleta da história oral temática das 10 enfermeiras que aceitaram participaram da pesquisa. O contexto foi uma Unidade de Cuidados Paliativos de um Centro Geriátrico da cidade de Salvador - BA, no período de maio a agosto de 2005. Para auxiliar na análise das falas das entrevistadas utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo de Bardin. A realização da pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética em Saúde do Hospital Santo Antonio sob o registro 021/2005. Resultados: do discurso das enfermeiras surgiram sentimentos de angústia, negação, dor, sofrimento, frustração e incapacidade, e foram relacionados às lacunas da formação acadêmica. Entretanto, as colaboradoras, diante da vivência, perceberam e transmutaram estes sentimentos, remodelando sua compreensão sobre os cuidados paliativos para aprendizado e conforto. Conclusão: percebeu-se que, no exercício do cotidiano com pacientes idosos hospitalizados em condições terminais, as enfermeiras vêm buscando transformar os sentimentos face à finitude da vida, superando as dificuldades de uma formação voltada para o curativismo. Resultados: del discurso de las enfermeras surgieron los sentimientos de ansiedad, rechazo, dolor, sufrimiento, frustración e incapacidad, relacionados a deficiencias en la formación académica. Sin embargo, las entrevistadas, a partir de la propia vivencia, percibieron y transmutaron esos sentimientos reformulando su comprensión sobre los cuidados paliativos acomodándolos a su aprendizaje. Conclusión: se observó que en el ejercício cotidiano con pacientes mayores  hospitalizados con enfermedades terminales, las enfermeras han venido tratando de transformar los sentimientos delante de la finitud de la vida, superando las dificultades de una formación orientada para una visión curativa. OBJECTIVE: to understand the contributions of ludic care in nursing by stimulating the acceptance of chemical detoxification from crack on the perception of people in the detoxification process. METHODS: an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach, performed with five people hospitalized for chemical detoxification from crack, from March to July 2013 in a chemical detox unit of a midsize hospital in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. Data was collected using a semi-structured interview and was subjected to content analysis. RESULTS: Two categories emerged: Ludic care in nursing as a stimulus to the acceptance of chemical detoxification; Ludic care in nursing in the promotion for healthy living after chemical detoxification. CONCLUSION: ludic care in nursing proved to enhance the acceptance of chemical detoxification from crack in the reality investigated.

Islamic Microfinance institution (MFI) funded either by government or private financial institutions are playing an instrumental role in discharging business fund to the eligible micro entrepreneurs (ME). The potential of micro entrepreneurs to succeed in their business is always becoming a central issue, this is due to the ability to manage the business strategy in a sustainable manner. The fund transacted in micro financing industry is small in term of quantity, therefore it also generates small profit to both parties MFI and ME, it may not be profitable in the eye of financial institution such as bank or Microfinance institution such as Baitul Mal wa Tamwil, moreover the financing risk is always high because some of the financing given without proper risk mitigation could lead into financial failure. The above reasons have influenced most of the MFIs’s decision to abstain from providing equity-based financing, where the concept very much suitable and workable to bring out the groups of MEs from poverty list in comparison to debt-based financing. Equity-based financing require bigger commitment and intervention from MFI in business in term of coaching, training and managing cash flow of the business. Islamic equity-based financing is about profit and loss sharing (PLS) financing. Where both parties have to bear financial consequences in the event of business failure. The failure in business would cause non-performing financing (NPF) to the financial institution and could effect the financial position for that particular year of report. The continuous NPF to the MFI can risk the company future plan. Thus, this study aimed to explore the mechanism of risk mitigation for equity-based financing which can be adopted by Islamic microfinance institutions around the would. The mechanism used to suggest in area of governance, selection of entreprenuer, financing arrangement, payment system and business business sectors. The study applied content analysis to collect the history data of equity-based financing as offered by BMT and MFIs in Indonesia, the data informed researcher on the success and failure story, the study also applied structured interview with managers who are responsible on risk mitigation. The study found that BMT and MFIs in Indonesia are well-organized, the governance and selection of entreprenuer are palying significant role while the payment system which includes the collatoral against any negligence posits an effective way in mircofinance mitigation model.

Neste estudo, analisa-se a formação pedagógica do Curso de Licenciatura em Letras da Universidade Federal do Maranhão, no campus do Bacanga, com sede em São Luís. A tessitura dessa pesquisa baseia-se na abordagem qualitativa, mais precisamente no estudo de caso. Fez-se uso da entrevista semiestruturada, enquanto instrumento metodológico, com alunos dos dois últimos períodos e professores das disciplinas pedagógicas. Como técnica de tratamento e análise de dados, fez-se uso da análise de conteúdo. As representações dos sujeitos da pesquisa apontam algumas fragilidades na formação pedagógica, mas com uma perspectiva de mudança, para que o Curso se fortaleça enquanto Licenciatura e para que a formação pedagógica ganhe um lugar de destaque.Palavras-chave: Formação docente. This study aims at investigating the perceptions of educational partners towards managing and implementing inclusive education, ensuring whether special need students can be wholly admitted and facilitated, and probing on the integration and management of students with physical, moral, and mental problems. The strategy used is centered on a case study with qualitative approach. The researchers applied a semi-structured interview and analyzed the data using content analysis with descriptive-interpretation-pattern coding model. For choosing the participants, quota sampling technique was applied whereby four participants were chosen from every school to represent the sections. The population is made up of all students, teachers, staff, and parents from SMA Yogyakarta, SMA Wates, and SMK Imogiri. Based on the interviews, all the subjects confirmed that inclusive education in the respective schools is critical. Besides, the perceptions of all subjects towards management and implementation of inclusive education does not prove its satisfactory level.[Penelitian bertujuan melihat persepsi orang tua, siswa, guru, dan staf terhadap pengelolaan dan penerapan pendidikan inklusif, memastikan apakah siswa berkebutuhan khusus dapat diterima dan difasilitasi oleh sekolah, dan meyakinkan cara untuk mengintegrasikan dan mengelola siswa dengan masalah fisik, moral, dan mental. Penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan wawancara semi-struktural dan menganalisis data dengan analisis konten. Untuk memilih peserta, teknik kuota sampling diterapkan di mana empat peserta dipilih dari setiap sekolah untuk mewakili yang lain. Populasi terdiri dari semua siswa, guru, staf, dan orang tua dari SMA Yogyakarta, SMA Wates, dan SMK Imogiri. Berdasarkan wawancara, semua subjek menegaskan bahwa pendidikan inklusif di sekolah masing-masing masih belum mapan. Selain itu, persepsi semua yang diwawancarai terhadap manajemen dan pelaksanaan pendidikan inklusif tidak benar-benar mengkonfirmasi tingkat pendidikan inklusif yang memuaskan.]
