Information Technology and Islamic Ethics

The whole issue of information technology is of major interest for the whole society. The new millennium has provided some of the most exciting technological advancements, which has transformed the way businesses are managed, organised, and developed. The technology is a phenomenon, and it is dramatically changing the way businesses deal with their customers. In a climate of increased competition, expansion of new technologies, possible drop in customer numbers, one way of increasing customer numbers would be by enhancing customer experiences on the internet. It is widely accepted that relationship marketing enhances with positive experience, and the internet is a key relationship building tool. The focus of the chapter is that Islamic workplace ethics believes that confidential sharing of information should only be given to limited and relevant stakeholders in the business.

This paper is dedicated to the analysis of the phenomenon of virtual narrative and its connection to the phenomenon of Internet of things. Modern virtual narrative is a complex, syncretic phenomenon, alludes to the different cultural, historical and even mythological subjects and objects. But with the development of new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, virtual narrative became to be some kind of independent phenomenon. Moreover, the Internet of things (which is not clerly identified phenomen itself from the philosophic point of view) uses the virtual narrative as one of the components, for example applaying some methond of virtual narrative in creating advertisments, creating messages in musiams, exposititions etc. So, in our paper we will analyze this both phenomena, their connections and the way of its development.

Abstract:With the rise of information technology, an increasing proportion of public African archives are being digitized and made accessible on the internet. The same is being done to a certain extent with private archives too. As much as the new technologies are raising enthusiasm, they have prompted discussion among researchers and archivists, on subjects ranging from matters of intellectual property to sovereignty and governance. Digital archiving disrupts archival norms and practices, opening up a field of reflection relatively little explored by historians. This article therefore seeks to reflect on the digital turn of African archives as a subject for study in its own right, located at the crossroads of political and economic interests.

Since its early days, the Internet has been used by the music industry as a powerful marketing tool to promote artists and their products. Nevertheless, technology developments of the past ten years, and especially the ever-growing phenomenon of file sharing, have created the general impression that the Internet is responsible for a crisis within the industry, on the grounds that music piracy has become more serious than it has ever been. The purpose of this paper is to present the impact of new technologies and the Internet on the three main actors of the music industry: consumers, artists and record companies. It is claimed that the Internet has changed the way music is valued, and also, that it may have a direct effect on the quality of the music produced, as perceived by both artists and consumers alike.

The Internet has transformed the way education is delivered in the 21st Century. Web-based education has been developed on the basis of the capability and potential of the Internet. The idea of Web-based education was first developed about 15 years ago from a simple form of online learning, using mainly e-mail as a form of communication and consisting of mainly text, with no multimedia. Soon after, a variety of new software and services were developed to support Web-based Education. In late 1990s, the development of new technologies for this purpose accelerated. They gradually transformed the way by which distance education was delivered. Today, it is common for both private and public educational institutions to offer Web-based courses. However, only a few virtual universities exist today with all of their courses and activities Web-based.

Today we are moving into an era of “intangible” business processes, where business communication and transactions can be conducted anywhere, anytime, and with a simple click of a mouse. With the speedy amplification and expansion of technology, information systems have become a normal component of our everyday life. The phenomenal growth of the internet has led to the emergence of a great number of new technologies and one of the most important ones is the ability to conduct business over the internet. E-commerce is currently changing the way business is conducted by assisting business progressions and transactions with very few organizations debating whether or not to participate in it. E-commerce software is the engine behind the scenes of an online store, making it possible to easily manage inventory, add or remove products, calculate taxes, and everything else required to manage a website and fulfill orders.

Information technology (IT) is transforming our personal, social, cultural, economic and political lives. But women in developing countries do not have equal access to knowledge, due to the fact that they do not have access to the new technologies at the same level as western European women. They need to understand the significance of new technologies and use them in relevant fields. IT can offer immense opportunities for virtually all girls and women in developing countries, including poor women living in rural areas. Developing countries like Bangladesh are usually seen as problematic hosts for ITs because most developing regions of the country lack economic resources and indigenous techno-scientific capabilities to develop and deploy IT infrastructures. The regions also tend not to make the best use of opportunities of technology transfer. The wider adoption of IT in the 1990s promised a globally connected community of equal participants in electronic networks. The Internet has enabled people to communicate regardless of race, sex, physical ability, location and social background (GVU, 1998). IT now offers access to a huge pool of information. The Internet enables worldwide communication that is cheaper, faster and more flexible than older media like e-mail, telephone, telex or fax.

Information technology (IT) has a crucial role in knowledge management (KM), as the facilitator or enabler. To find the IT strategy for KM and related aspects such as the tools being utilised, and the problems faced by Indian firms, research was conducted in leading firms in three sectors of the Indian economy; namely software, pharmaceutical and petroleum marketing, covering both the private and public sectors. The results indicated that Indian firms have implemented many IT tools. The internet is the most widely used tool, whereas KM software is the least used. The way IT is growing or implemented and maintained in the firms under study is not encouraging. Barring a few software sector firms, IT tools are neither well maintained nor fully exploited by the firms. In addition, Indian firms lack an IT strategy for KM.

Internet banking is one of the unavoidable advancements in the Information technology revolution. How have relatively new technologies changed the way in which the celebrity system and tabloid culture function in North American culture? With access to technologies, such as the internet and digital film and photography, and websites, such as Youtube.com, the average citizen is now able to actively participate in the world of celebrity and even turn themself into a celebrity figure. The world of celebrity (online, at least) has become do-it-yourself and has, in many ways, democratized the process of fame. Through the rise in online readership and recognition, even the creators of online tabloids have themselves become celebrities and active members in the star system they seek to critique. This thesis will demonstrate that the technologies used to demystify the celebrity through perpetual surveillance have, at the same time, succeeded in turning ordinary people into celebrities, thus placing them squarely within the star system they never intended to inhabit.
