Dynamic Response Analysis under the Metro-Vibration Loading of Xi'an Bell Tower Timber Structure

Taking Xi’an Bell Tower and metro line 2 as research background, at first, according to the theory of Euler-Bernoulli beam in Winkler foundation, the analysis model of train-track-foundation system was established, and then, time-history curve of metro-induced loading acts on tunnel structure is obtained by using Matlab produce platform. Secondly, two-dimensional finite element model of the structure-soil-tunnel interaction model was established using ANSYS. Taken loading time delay into consideration for the first time, dynamic response law of the bell tower under the metro-vibration loading is obtained. Finally, the impact of metro line 2 on Xi’an Bell Tower was evaluated according to the Technical specification for protection of historic buildings against man-made vibration.

The effects of metro line 2 and line 6 on Xi'an Bell Tower was studied by numerical analysis in this paper. At first, according to the theory of Euler-Bernoulli beam in Winkler foundation, the analysis model of train-track-foundation system was established, and then, time-history curve of metro-induced loading acts on tunnel structure is obtained by using Matlab produce platform. Secondly, two-dimensional finite element model of the structure-soil-tunnel interaction model was established using ANSYS. Finally, the impact of metro line 2 and 6 and ground transportation on Xi’an Bell Tower was evaluated according to the Technical specification for protection of historic buildings against man-made vibration. The construction of Metro Line 2 and Line 6 will affect the safety of Xi'an Bell Tower.

Based on the coupled SPH-DEM-FEM numerical method, this paper analyzes the dynamic interaction of solid debris flow particle-liquid debris flow slurry-retaining dam in order to explore the dynamic response of retaining dam under the impact of the solid-liquid two-phase debris flow and delves into the process of the debris flow impact on the dam, the impact force of debris flow, and the elastic-plastic time-history characteristics of the dam under different slopes of trapezoidal grooves. The calculation results show that the coupled SPH-DEM-FEM method can vividly simulate the impact behavior of the solid-liquid two-phase debris flow on the dam, reproduce the impact, climbing, and siltation in the process of the debris flow impact; the dynamic time-history curve of the retaining dam is consistent with the law of the literature, and the result of the debris flow impact force obtained is close to that of the empirical formula. Moreover, this paper studies the impact force distribution of the debris flow impact process. The results have a certain reference value for the study of the dynamic response of the retaining dam under the impact of the solid-liquid two-phase debris flow and the engineering design of the debris flow-retaining dam.

Based on the theory of soil-structure interaction, the underground structure and surrounding soil as a system, and the finite element analysis model is established, and finite element dynamic analysis method is implemented, the three seismic acceleration time history of the different spectrum characteristics is inputted, the seismic effect on the surrounding ground of underground structure is analyzed. The results show that the effect on dynamic response is the limited range and not significant, when seismic design of structures on the surrounding sites is implemented, additional dynamic response on surrounding sites does not need to consider.

This paper uses both numerical simulation method and experimental research method to study on welding residual stress of high-strength steel of the cone-cylinder hull. Welding is often accompanied by a larger welding residual stress, which directly affects the safety and service life of the hull structure. In order to obtain the distribution of the welding residual stress, the welding procedure was developed by its parameter language by using FE analysis software in this paper. Then the welding residual stress of hot spot region was measured through X-ray nondestructive testing method, and compared it with simulation results. Finally, considering the residual stress as the initial stress, this paper analyzed dynamic response process of the welding structure under combined actions of the welding residual stress and multiaxial loads, which could more accurately determine the stress of welding structure and the location of fatigue risk point. According to the amplitude of damage parameters and strain time-history curve, we can estimate the fatigue life of structure by selecting the corresponding damage models.

To investigate their in-plane dynamic response, a rigid plate with mass was given an initial velocity to impact (square) honeycombs in the X1 and X2 directions, respectively. Firstly, the impact model was built and validated. Then, impact resistance capacity research was conducted. Results showed that each honeycomb performed similarly in X1 and X2 directions, and the reentrant honeycomb usually used smaller displacement and time to absorb the same amount of kinetic energy. Thus, it is better for application if these factors were the main concerns. After that, the nominal stress at the proximal and distal ends were discussed under various impact velocities. It is shown that, under impact loading, the reentrant honeycomb generally showed higher initial peak stress as well as lower plateau stress at both proximal and distal ends. In addition, combining these with the deformation process of honeycombs, it was concluded that the formation of the plateau area of the nominal stress curve is related to the crushing displacement of the impact plate as well as the collapse of cells.

Abstract A finite element formulation to solve the dynamic behavior of high-speed Shinkansen cars, rail, and bridge is given. A mechanical model to express the interaction between wheel and rail is described, in which the impact of the rail on the flange of wheel is also considered. The bridge is modeled by using various finite elements such as shell, beam, solid, spring, and mass. The equations of motions of bridge and Shinkansen cars are solved under the constitutive and constraint equations to express the interaction between rail and wheel. Numerical method based on a modal transformation to get the dynamic response effectively is discussed. A finite element program for the dynamic response analysis of Shinkansen cars, rail, and bridge at the high-speed running has been developed. Numerical examples are also demonstrated.

The spacer grid is a key element of the fuel assembly used in the Pressurized water reactor. Due to its structural complexity, the analysis and the design of the spacer grid structure is difficult. This paper discusses the 5 × 5 cell size partial grid analysis including the detailed grid structural elements, through which, the impact force, the rebound velocity and the time history of acceleration and as well as other mechanical properties of grid under different initial impact velocity were obtained. This paper carried out the dynamic buckling criterion studies, and determined the dynamic buckling load of the 5 × 5 cell size partial spacer grid. Based on assuming the impact process is simple harmonic vibration, the method to determine the dynamic stiffness of the spacer grid was proposed. The experiments were also performed for the comparison with the analytical results. It is found that the analytical results are in good agreement with the experimental results. As a result, we can conclude that the analysis model including detailed grid elements is able to yield accurate analytical results.

Explained ways to strengthen structures against lateral dynamic loads can be divided into two broad categories. The first part is the structural systems for controlling seismic displacement and second part is the use of applying systems of control forces. Response mechanism of structures using control systems are improved and greatly reduce the risks of damage caused by earthquakes.Today the use of these control systems in buildings have been increased and it’s important to reduce vibration of structures is felt more than ever. As well as to improve the dynamic behavior of nearby buildings, control systems can be installed between adjacent buildings as activated, semi-active and inactivated systems. The main purpose of this study is the use of control systems in two similar adjacent buildings to reduce the entire system response which will be the analytical study of the impact of viscous dampers to control system performance.In order to analysis of modeling to improve the dynamic behavior of different adjacent buildings connected with dampers, two models of the original sample will be examined in this article. All examples are different from each other and to elicit response analysis and time history software SAP 2000was used. According to the results the effect of fluid viscous dampers for tall buildings compared shorter building, is less. Also, these dampers for adjacent buildings with different heights than buildings with same height are more effective.
