In this study, effects of vertical vibration have been explored by means of comparative trial . Twenty two college male students participated in this trial, they were randomly divided into control group and vibration group. The experiment lasted 9 weeks, 3 sessions each week.Test has been performed after and before trial. After analyzing the test outcome,the finding showed that Vibration and convention exercise both can significantly increase the absolute peak torque (extensors:t=-3.919,p=0.02<0.05,flexor:t=-4.839, p=0.001<0.05) and relative peak torque (extensors: t=-2.379,p=.020; flexor : t=-5.285,p=0.000) of knee joint. The vibration exercise is better than the convention exercise.

The present study investigated the effect of three goal-setting groups (self-set, assigned, and control) and three levels of self-efficacy (low, medium, and high) on bowling performance of college students (N = 288). The performance/retention trials were analyzed in a 3 × 2 × 10 (Goal Conditions × Self-Efficacy Levels × Trials) ANCOVA design, with repeated measures on the last factor and baseline performance as the covariate. Results of the data analysis revealed a significant main effect for self-efficacy (SE) levels for males and females. Individuals at high and medium SE levels performed significantly better than those at a low SE level. The nonsignificant main effect for goal groups was attributed to the spontaneous goal-setting behavior of the control group. Finally, there was a main effect for trials and planned comparisons indicated that as trials progressed female students improved. Evidence of a performance plateau was present for male students, as they showed marginal improvement across trials.

Background. The effectiveness of outpatient mobile laser intervention on specific treatment goals has not been fully explored. Thus, the aim of the study was to examine the effect of orthopaedic knee brace with laser on knee joint function, pain and swelling. Methods. Volunteers were divided into two experimental groups: chronic pain (n = 20, knee pain > 6 months) and acute pain (n = 20, knee pain < 1 week), and one control (n = 20, placebo) group. Subjects in all groups were immobilized in a knee brace for 4 weeks. In addition, the experimental groups underwent low-intensity laser therapy, whereas control group underwent pseudo-laser therapy, every second day for 10 min. The sequences of the tests were as follows: (a) clinical assessments and evaluation of knee extension and flexion amplitude, swelling, Lysholm subjective assessment questionnaire, VAS pain scale, (b) evaluation of balance using Kistler platform, (c) muscle peak torque and isometric torque variability assessment using isokinetic dynamometry. All tests were performed twice - before and after intervention. Results. Knee brace with laser is effective treatment for the reduction of pain, swelling, and recovering of daily functions (p < .05). Operation of the complex device is particularly effective in treating knee pain in the acute period (p < .05). Conclusions. Knee brace with laser therapy in the rehabilitation period ensures faster healing of patients compared to wearing only knee brace, particularly in acute pain, while muscle strength and proprioception remains depressed.

This study examined the effect of integrating Statistical concepts on Third year student teachers’ academic performance on Heredity in Biology. The study adopted purposive sampling where 93 participants were randomly assigned into two groups, i.e. an Experimental class (n = 45) and a Control group (n = 48).Three research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. Data were collected using a 8-item structured questionnaire which was used to obtain data on students’ attitude towards heredity while an Achievement Test’ (AT), which comprised 4 questions, was used to measure the students’ performance in genetics. The two null hypotheses were tested using the Independent Sample T-test (at α = 0.05) while the third question was analysed using percentages.The findings from the study showed that students taught Heredity by integrating statistical concepts achieved higher scores and significantly better than those taught using conventional methods (df = 91; p = 0.001 < α = 0.05) . There was also no better achievement in favour of the male students compared to their female counter parts when taught by integrating the statistical concepts in the experimental group (df = 43; p = 0.871 > α = 0.05). It further established that students developed positive attitude towards Heredity after integrating statistical concepts in the teaching of Heredity in Biology. The study recommends among other things, that since integrating statistical concepts is found to be an effective strategy and enhanced achievement among Biology students, teachers and lecturers of this subject should accept it as one of the strategies they can use in teaching Heredity in Biology so as to enhance students’ academic performance.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of using the story grammar method to develop seventh grade students' narrative texts comprehension in English as a foreign language. Previous research suggests that narrative texts comprehension can be improved through story grammar method. The researcher designed a story-mapping for teaching the experimental group. The researcher also developed an instrument, which is a narrative comprehension test to measure the students' performance. The sample consisted of two classes (n= 52) of grade seven male students from a school in the Sultanate of Oman, Al-Batinah South. These classes were randomly selected. One class functioned as an experimental group and the other as a control group. The results revealed that the students in the experimental group performed better than the students in the control group. The story grammar method had a positive effect on the students' narrative textss comprehension. Based on these findings, the study presents some recommendations and suggestions for further research.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to examine the effects on the hamstring/quadriceps ratio (H/Q ratio) and H/Q ratio fatigue index (H/Q FI) of the knee joint of an 8-week weight training to improve the hamstring muscles of male college students.METHODS: Twenty male college students were divided into two groups: an exercise group (EG) and a control group (CG). The EG participated in an 8-week hamstring weight training program, working out twice a week, 60 min per session, with a 60–80% 1RM and 12–16 RPE intensity. The peak torque, H/Q ratio, and H/Q FI were measured, and a t-test was used to verify the statistical significance of the difference between the pre- and post-intervention results.RESULTS: The right flexor peak torque at 60°/sec increased by 14.10±9.60%BW in the EG and decreased by −9.00±16.55%BW in the CG, showing a significant difference between the groups (<i>p</i><0.01). The left flexor peak torque increased by 6.60±12.31%BW in the EG and decreased by −5.10±10.68%BW in the CG, showing a significant difference between the groups (<i>p</i><0.05). The left extensor peak torque decreased by −5.40±19.53%BW in the EG and by −28.40±25.70%BW in the CG, showing a significant difference between the groups (<i>p</i><0.05). The H/Q ratios tended to increase, but the difference was not significant.CONCLUSIONS: To prevent injuries and stabilize the knee joint, the central joint of the lower extremity that plays an important role in daily life and sports activities, hamstring weight training can be performed to maintain the H/Q ratio within the normal range.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The knee joint is a complex and important joint in the human body. It plays an active role in maintaining posture balance of the human body in sports, allowing one to bear a larger load and complete various complex technical movements. Objective: To investigate the stability and influence of kinemechanics in knee joint rehabilitation training. Methods: A total of 80 patients with anterior cruciate ligament injury who received treatment in Henan Provincial People's Hospital were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. Results: Six months after surgery, the peak torque (PT), peak torque to body weight ratio (PT/BWT), total work (TWT), Lysholm score and Tegner score, and knee circumference of the two groups were significantly improved compared with those before surgery (P <0.01). The degree of improvement was greater in the observation group:compared with the control group, the difference was highly statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusions: Professional exercise rehabilitation has a definite effect on patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. It can significantly improve the muscle strength of quadriceps and hamstring, improve the function of knee joint and promote its recovery. Abstract. Several studies have shown that Continuous Performance Tests (CPT) can diagnose Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) better than other tests. Research reporting comparisons of two or more CPT-type tests is scarce. The purpose of the study was to compare the Mathematics Continuous Performance Test (MATH-CPT) with another CPT-type test (CPT II) and a questionnaire (the Brown Scale). The comparison was carried out by looking at correlations among subscales and checking the precision of detecting ADHD. Ninety-five high school and college students participated in the study, 41 with ADHD were the research group and 54 were the control group. The participants performed the two tests and answered the questionnaire. The results showed that the MATH-CPT correctly identified 74.50% of the participants of both groups as compared to the 71.60% of the CPT II. Correlations between the two CPT-type tests were moderate; however, they were similar to correlations found in other studies comparing similar tools. The MATH-CPT, final attention formula, showed significant correlations with the Brown scales, while the CPT II, confidence index associated with ADHD assessment, showed nonsignificant correlations with the questionnaire. The study indicated that MATH-CPT can be used with a clinical population of ADHD and for research purposes.

The aims of this study were: (1) to identify an increase in students' understanding of the value of mutual cooperation through the use of reader response rules in Indonesian Language Learning (KRPDPBI); (2) identifying the use of the reader response principle in Indonesian Language learning (KRPDPBI) there are differences between male and female students. The design of this study used a quasi-experimental study with two different methods. The results showed that (1) the achievement of the score of understanding the value of mutual cooperation for students taught by KRPDPBI was better than for students taught by regular learning according to the curriculum; (2) the achievement of the understanding of the value of male students' mutual cooperation is no better than that of female students.

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence about the use of cooperative models of Team Games Tournament to increase the ability of students on solving problems with the summation material fractions. To achieve these objectives, the research carried out in the form of an experiment by comparing the problem solving ability of students to the material sum of fractions through the use cooperative model of TGT and students who received conventional learning. The design is a pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique. The instrument used is to use tests that pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed quantitatively for the results of the pretest, posttest, and normalized gain value. Based on data analysis in this study we concluded that there are differences in problem solving ability of students to the material sum of fractions through the use of cooperative models of Team Games Tournament with students who studied with conventional models, and improved problem solving abilities of students in the material that follows the fractional summation cooperative learning of TGT better than students who take the conventional learning model. Therefore, the ability of solving problems of students at grade material fractions summation cooperative modeled of TGT has increased quite good.

Study aimed to determine the effect of language games with audio visual aids on students' speaking competence at fourth grade students of Tunas Daud elementary school and to describe the implementation of language games with audio visual aids on students’ speaking competence. The design used in this research was a mixed method design. It was explanatory design since this research was started with quantitative design (experimental design with post test only control design) followed by qualitative design. The samples were 62 students; 31 students of the experimental group and 31 students of the control group of fourth grade Tunas Daud elementary students. The data were collected by using speaking competence test and analyzed by IBM SPSS 22 with independent t-test. The data were also collected through an observation sheet for observing the implementation of the language games with audio visual aids. The results showed there was a significant effect of the language games with audio visual aids on students' speaking competence in which the mean score of the students who were taught by using language games with audio visual aids is better than the students who were taught without language games with audio visual aids. For the implementation of the language games with audio visual aids, it can be seen that the implementation of the language games with audio visual aids were done in a very good way. The games was suitable for the students since it could give good impacts for the students. The students are active and confident to speak.
