Background: Indoor air pollution has globally known as the risk factor of acute respiratory infection in young children.  The exposure to indoor particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) at house or school can be a potential risk to children’s health. This study aimed to examine the association between indoor PM2.5 and NO2 with oxidative stress markers in junior high school students.Design and Method: This study was conducted using a cross sectional study with 75 students collected randomly from four junior high schools in Jakarta.  PM2.5 and NO2 were measured in classrooms and school yards. The schools were categorized based on the exposure level of PM2.5 and NO2 in classrooms. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were examined from the blood sample. All students were interviewed with questionnaires to determine upper respiratory tract infection, smoking family members, mosquito repellent usage, and dietary supplement consumption. Results: Mean concentration of indoor PM2.5 and NO2 were 0.125±0.036 mg m-3 and 36.37±22.33 µg m-3, respectively. The schools which located near to highway showed lower PM2.5 and higher NO2 level indicated the emission of traffic activity. Mean activity of SOD was 96.36±50.94 U mL-1 and mean concentration of GSH was of 0.62±0.09 µg mL-1. Most of the students reported upper respiratory tract infection history, smoking family member, use mosquito repellent at home, and do not consume dietary supplement. Conclusion: The level of oxidative stress markers and the exposure categories of classroom PM2.5 and NO2 was not significantly different, however there were significant correlation with cigarette smoke and mosquito repellent at home. Nevertheless, the exposure of indoor PM2.5 and NO2 increased the risk of the exposure to cigarette smoke and mosquito repellent at home. Further study on the air pollution at school and home is needed to affirm association towards student’s health and to design strategic control efforts.

To promote the application of the STEM approach in science learning, it is necessary to provide cheap, easy-to-obtain, and effective STEM project support materials. In addition, science teachers should try to plan and implement STEM in their teaching, even for simple projects. To overcome the problem of the length of time on projects in science teaching, we propose "STEM at Home", a term which means that STEM projects are carried out by students at home under the supervision of parents or families. In order for this home project-based learning to be effective, we have prepared a STEM at Home Kit and Worksheet for Junior High Schools students. We chose the topic Simple . The STEM at Home Kit and Worksheet that have been developed, have received expert approval as learning media that are suitable for use. One-to-one evaluation with 3 participants, and small group evaluation with 14 participants, were carried out to obtain feedback on students’ difficulties in using the product, their perceptions of the product, and their perceptions of the potential impact produced by the instructional product. The results of these evaluation showed that the STEM at Home Project Kit and Worksheet are valid and practically used in science learning, especially on the topic of Simple Machines

This article details how Jews and Mexicans in Denver, Colorado came together in 1949 in the wake of a widely publicized interracial gang battle at one of the city's local middle schools. It documents the response of the local chapter of the Anti-Defamation League and its involvement in a interracial neighborhood council and how Jewish racial identity in Denver was informed by the broader racial geography of the West-a racial geography that was too often shaped by contrast with Mexicans. The article also challenges the notion that Denver was relatively free of anti-Semitism. Indeed, the 1905 lynching of Jacob Wesskind suggests a more nuanced story than the received wisdom about Jews being “at home” in Denver.

The view that poetry is one means of expressing various ideas, thoughts, and feelings applies on both adult poetry and poetry for children, which isnowadays increasingly written and published in, among others, magazines andnewspapers. Today such poetry is also written by children themselves. A study onsixty-five poems for children sampled from the Kompas daily Sunday editions of2005 has revealed that almost all of the poetry has been written by children, with3.1%, 78.5%, and 9.2% of them being, respectively, kindergarten, elementaryschool, and junior high school children (though another 9.2% of them areunidentifiable). The themes of the poems are quite various and all reflect the world ofchildren revealed through their point of view. However, there are certain recurringthemes: nature and the environment, parents and teachers, and animals, all ofwhich indicate children’s closeness to them. Other themes also found are, amongothers, sports and toys, others’ good deed, religiosity, money saving, and honesty.Generally the tone is didactic though the child writer means to invite or urge to dosomething. It indicates the children’s innocence and directness of mind and way ofthinking. Their teachers at school or their parents at home often tell them directly todo something and they just re-express it in the same manner. In poetic aspects, anumber of the poems seem good enough but a part of the others still do not seem tobe already well processed, especially in terms of word choice. Keywords : children’s literature, children’s poetry, child writer, themes ofchildren’s poetry
