Volunteer scholarship in Zimbabwe tends to focus on volunteer motivations, volunteers’ role in community development and, to a lesser extent, volunteers’ challenges. In this study, we captured the lived experiences of volunteers in the current milieu of socio-economic challenges. We discovered that the major challenges affecting community volunteers in the Chegutu District are poverty and vulnerability, burnout, too much work, lack of community appreciation of volunteerism and lack of adequate volunteer paraphernalia. We move beyond other studies to explore how volunteers are coping with the challenges. Volunteers are reliant on spiritual support and encouragement by some community members. The study adopts a qualitative approach with data collected using in-depth interviews and focus group discussion. The findings are presented and discussed thematically.

Kudus is an area rich in historical and cultural sites related to the spread of Islam. In several tombs of religious leaders in Kudus, there are still traditional ceremonies which are always complemented by various culinary traditions. What are the symbolic and philosophical meanings of each of the traditional culinary traditions in some ways related to the five prominent figures of Islam in Kudus? In writing this article the research begins with collecting data which includes the collection of primary and secondary sources such as literature, observation, participatory, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with informants from various elements. All data that has been collected through the various approaches above will then be classified, connected or accumulated between data from one another, linked between primary sources and library sources or secondary sources, as a form of interpretation and synthesized in order to obtain research results . The results of the study show that the symbolic and philosophical meanings of each culinary tradition in some traditional ceremonies relating to the characterization of Islamization in Kudus are closely related to the greatness of the figure itself. Based on the culinary tradition, it can be seen that the beliefs of the Kudus community still have a relationship with previous beliefs (pre-Islam).

The present psychological anthropological study tends to explore the perception of single men and their understanding of cultural role regarding post-marriage body between both genders. A qualitative methodology of in-depth interviews and one focus group discussion were employed. The sample included late adolescents (aged 18–24) and early adults (24–34) from Islamabad and Rawalpindi (Pakistan). Purposive sampling was applied and thematic analysis was used as a qualitative paradigm. The number of respondents comprised of 17 males of which each 7 were gym-goers. Results highlighted that Pakistani culture has its biased and paradoxical ways when it comes to expectations genders face with regard to body after marriage. Overall, males have an upper hand when it comes to body image both pre and post marriage. With the female body, men associate modesty and role of spouse and with their own body its supremacy. Expectations are not much held for men with regard to body image, but if they are looking after their body, it is all out of their own will, needs, reason and to some extent on spouse demand.

The religious counselor has an important role in society as an agent of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia in transforming community. However, in the reality, as a community motivator, its class is far less important than the private motivators such as Mario Teguh, Abdullah Gymnastiar and his ESQ method, Christian Andrianto, Hermawan Kartajaya,Gede Prama, Krisnamurti, Guenta K., Andrie Wongso and so forth. This is a qualitative research using an in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), observation and document study in collecting data. The results show: the first, the religious counselor developed a face to face model for their communication with their clients which is to some extent less sophisticated. In addition, this method does not follow people’s needs and development of technology. Furthermore, they are mostly working with religious group, except some religious counselors in Manado who tried to enhance their work into wider society

Persons affected by leprosy or by disabilities face forms of stigma that have an impact on their lives. This study seeks to establish whether their experiences of stigma are similar, with a view to enabling the two groups of people to learn from each other. Accounts of experiences of the impact of stigma were obtained using in-depth interviews and focus group discussion with people affected by leprosy and by disabilities not related to leprosy. The analysis shows that there are a lot of similarities in impact of stigma in terms of emotions, thoughts, behaviour, and relationships between the two groups. The main difference is that those affected by leprosy tended to frame their situation in medical terms, while those living with disabilities described their situation from a more social perspective. In conclusion, the similarities offer opportunities for interventions and the positive attitudes and behaviours can be modelled in the sense that both groups can learn and benefit. Research that tackles different aspects of stigmatization faced by both groups could lead to inclusive initiatives that help individuals to come to terms with the stigma and to advocate against exclusion and discrimination.
