Our predecessors (V.A. Lisichkin, Yu.L. Shevchenko, S.P. Glossiev) either had no information about the letters of the surgeon and Bishop Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) in 1932-1933 or had partial information about their contents (Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Lazar (Shvets). The introduction of these rarities into scientific circulation for the first time allowed establishing the terms of treatment of the surgeon and Bishop Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) at the Leningrad Cancer Institute (March-April 1932), as well as the call to the Central apparatus of the United main political Directorate (Moscow, OGPU, September-October 1932) during the Arkhangelsk exile (1931-1933). At the same time, there was revealed the relationship between these events, which were the first and second stages of the so-called “review of the investigative case” of the exiled surgeon and Bishop. Offering early release from the Arkhangelsk exile, employees of the Central office of the OGPU persuaded him to renounce the dignity of an Orthodox Bishop. The refusal of a surgeon and a Bishop to remove an Orthodox Bishop from office in exchange for early release from exile and prospects for further employment in the medical profession has been documented. There are quoted original archival documents, including letters from the surgeon and Bishop Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), and answers to them of historical significance are selectively provided.

The question of the crisis of the USSR economy on the eve of “perestroika” is considered. Attention is paid to archival documents, which are introduced into active scientific circulation for the first time. The question of political and ideological support for the transformation of society and economy in the late USSR is raised. The results of a comparative analysis of documents of the official authorities and the expert community are presented. The research focuses on declassified archival materials deposited in the fund of the former chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers N. I. Ryzhkov (F. 653 — Nikolai Ivanovich Ryzhkov) of the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History (RGA SPI). The novelty of the study is seen in the fact that the analyzed documents allow shedding light on unknown crisis phenomena in the economic life of the USSR. In the course of the work, a circle of institutions was identified that monitored the socio-economic situation in the USSR in the first half of the 1980s. The relevance of the study is due to the problems of building a welfare state in modern Russia, improving the relationship between the center and regions in the Russian Federation. Analytical letters of representatives of the academic community and government agencies are studied. The theoretical basis of the work is connected with the ideas of M. A. Beznin and T. M. Dimoni about protobuzhuisia and state capitalism in the USSR, G. G. Popov about the latent conflict in the USSR between the power of experts and political functionaries.

The article describes the specifics of the regulation of property and inheritance relations in Europe in the 18th century. To analyze the peculiarities of resolving property and inheritance disputes, a large family of Dmitry Cantemir was taken, who is known in history as an outstanding Moldavian and Russian statesman (ruler of the Moldavian Principality (1693, 1710– 1711), Most Serene Prince of Russia (1711), Russian Senator (1721) , Privy Councilor (1722)) and scientist. The relationship of the youngest daughter of Dmitry Cantemir, Ekaterina Dmitrievna Golitsyna, with the Cantemir family provides an interesting example of the use of various social norms to resolve family conflicts. The reconstruction of the family history is based on various sources, primarily on archival documents, most of which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time

This article presents archival documents of the Cossack era from the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Kyiv. These are the universals of hetmans and colonels concerning the Mhar Monastery, its estates, its relations with Lubny and Zaporizhzhia Sich. The immediate task is the introduction into scientific circulation, the actualization of hitherto unknown historical sources that are important for the history of Ukraine, especially for the history of such a region as Poltava region. In the above-mentioned archives, hitherto unknown documents were discovered and published for the first time. The vast majority of documents belong to other categories of act documents — gifts, merchants, wills, court rulings. They shed light on the city government of Lubnу, the history of the relationship of general and regimental power with the Church, especially with the Mhar Monastery, the mechanism of increasing its land ownership. In general, the documents published here shed additional light on the history of Poltava region of the last third of the 17 — early 18 centuries. The repressive-punitive activity of the DPU’s “Troika” as an extrajudicial body was analyzed in the article. Their involvement into the Ukrainians’ genocide during 1932-1933-s was proved by the archival documents. New historical sources that proved a role of “Troika” of the State political administration of the Ukrainian SSR (DPU of the Ukrainian SSR) as a repressive-punitive body were introduced into scientific usage for the first time. The author has used historical-systematic method, critical analysis of the sources, problem-chronological, typological analysis as well as synthesis and generalization that permit to understand a role of “troika” as a crucial instrument in the planned, systematically organized criminal campaign of grain procurement as well as in the struggle of the communist regime with acts of resistance (real or fabricated by the body of the DPU). Extrajudicial punishment with “Troika’s” involvement was demonstrated to be a tool for suppression of the national-liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people at the beginning of 1920-s in Ukraine. According to implementation of the NEP and suppression of the resistance movement, the activity of “Troikas” was ceased by a relevant order of the CPC of the Ukrainian SSR, however, it was renewed at the beginning of grain procurement campaign, and total collectivization. At that time “Troikas” should decongest the judicial branch of the United State Political Administration (ODPU) and Special Council of the ODPU from rebels and other “counter-revolutionary elements” presented by the central office and local authorities.

This note examines the relationship between affirmative action (AA) program perceptions and women’s self-ascribed capacity and desire to become leaders. We propose that women who believe that their organization implements a program of preferential selection toward women will experience negative psychological effects leading to lowered self-expectations for leadership, but that this effect will be moderated by their justice perceptions of AA programs. We test this proposition empirically for the first time with a Latin American female sample. Among Brazilian women managers, desire but not self-ascribed capacity to lead was reduced when they believed an AA policy was in place. Both desire’s and capacity’s relationships with belief in an AA policy were moderated by justice perceptions.

A manuscript memoir of Hugh Miller (1802–1856), geologist, writer and newspaper editor, is attributed to his son Hugh Miller FGS (1850–1896). It is published here, apparently for the first time. It was written sometime in 1881–1896, more probably 1882–1895. Its intended place of publication is discussed. It is an interesting contribution to Miller biography, written by a family member and providing some new information and anecdotes.

For the first time in the world, a bison population has been created in an area of 60 degrees north latitude. In the new climatic conditions of breeding and preservation of bison, the factors of the species existence in the north of the European part of the Russian Federation are identified and analyzed. The signs, dynamics of abundance, which are an integral part of the system designed to manage biodiversity are identified, since the preservation of biological diversity on the planet is one of the main problems of our time. Introduction, being the process of introducing non-typical species into an ecosystem, can enhance changes in biocenoses, both positively and negatively. The question posing sounds especially when it comes to such a large hoofed animal as the European bison. How quickly and successfully the process of adaptation of the universe takes place and its environmental impact is seen depends on the continued existence of bison and biodiversity in general. The article discusses the relationship of bison with other types of ungulates and human activities, as well as the further use of bison in agricultural production. How these issues will be resolved positively depends on the future of these animals. Thus, the plasticity of bison, the identification of changes and their analysis, with the introduction of species into new habitat conditions is necessary not only to determine the development or degradation of biocenoses and the ecosystem as a whole, but also to predict the socio-economic consequences due to the introduction as one of the methods of preserving rare and endangered species of fauna.

BACKGROUND Service characteristic factors are verified as the determinants for influencing people’s use intention of mHealth. Exploration of the interactions among the service characteristics of users can play an important role in improving service adoption rate. mHealth service appears to be an emerging new technology that presents a new pattern of healthcare service; however, users have concerns that their personal information might be disclosed and used without permission. This concern hinders people’s adoption behavior of mHealth services. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study is to explore how service characteristics (service relevance and service accuracy) interact to influence individuals’ use intention of mHealth services. This study also investigates the moderating roles of innovativeness and privacy concern. METHODS To meet these objectives, six hypotheses thus developed were empirically validated using a survey to test the effects of service characteristics and personal traits on use intention of mHealth. RESULTS We confirm that service relevance and service accuracy positively and directly influence individuals’ use intention of mHealth services. In addition, innovativeness positively affects the relationship between service relevance and use intention. Privacy concern negatively influences the relationship between service relevance and use intention, but positively influences the relationship between service accuracy and use intention. CONCLUSIONS The present study provides new insights into the influencing factors of individuals’ usage behaviour toward mHealth services. Such insight could provide further understanding of how individuals adopt new information service or technologies, which contribute to both information system and health care research areas in a very promising way.
