Data of the research were primarily gathered from the pre-test and post-test of listening test, in which the result of pre-test was used as control class and the result of post-test was as the experimental class. In analyzing data of the research, the researcher used t–test formula. Based on the analysis, it was gotten that t-test score was 27.76 with the degree of freedom (df) = 26 and t-table was 2,056 at the significant level =0.05. Because t-test is higher than t-table meaning that individual learning is effective in teaching listening at the second grade students’ of MTs. NW. Lingsar in the academic year 2017/2018.

In collecting the data, this study used pre-test, treatment, and post-test as the data collection procedure then followed by analyzing the data by using the t-test formula. Then the result of statistical analysis of t-test in this research was 2.85. It was higher than critical values for t- table in the degree of freedom (df) of 58 is 2.021(0.05%) and 2.704(0.01%). The researcher concludes that mean score before and after teaching by using schema activation strategy has a difference. It means the alternative hypothesis (ha) was accepted. There are many different definitions of critical thinking (CT). Some type of the concept is taught in all higher education disciplines. Academia teaches teamwork and critical thinking (Cathcart & Samovar, 1992) because the professional world requires small-group decision making (Jonassen & Kwon, 2001). Critical thinking is taught by precept and practice (Facione, 1995; Wilkinson, 2001; Winningham, 2000). Constructivists recommend dialogue because meaningful discussion enhances experiential learning through social negotiations and reflection (Vrasidas & McIsaac, 1999). Collaborative problem solving is often utilized in nursing education to increase critical thinking (Collis, Andernach, & Van Diepen, 1997; Cragg, 1991; Crooks, Klein, Savenye, & Leader, 1998; Krothe, Pappas, & Adair, 1996).
