The problem in this research was whether there is the effect of the Probing Prompting Learning model on student learning outcomes in the10thgradersof SMANurulAmal Palembang. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of the Probing Prompting Learning model on student learning outcomes at SMA NurulAmal Palembang. The method used in this study was the experimental method using two classes, namely the experimental class, and the control class. Meanwhile, the data collection technique was done by tests, and documentation techniques, then the data were analyzed by the data analysis technique using t-test analysis. The results showed that the average value of the experimental class was more than 80.24 compared to the control class of 63.6 and the calculations resulted tcountedtableie, 7.02 ≥ 1.667 then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In other words, there was the influence of the Probing Prompting Learning model on learning outcomes.

Abstract - The goal of this research is to get data about the use of digital media  and Class of Literation in together to achievement of student’s learning at Anugerah Abadi Junior High School in Pamulang Tangerang Selatan. This research uses research method with correlation and regration analysis. It is mean, making connection  between data that tells about the use of digital media  and Class of Literation in together to achievment of student’s learning. The data about the use of digital media  and Class of Literation in together to achievement of  student’s learning could be got over questioner by resercher with measuring something that has connection to: (1) there are effects of the use of digital media  signficantly and Class of Literation in together to achievement of  student’s learning. It can be known from the getting score of Fo=9,109 and Sig.0,000 < 0,05. In together, the variable of the use of digital media  and Class of Literation gave contribution 24,2% to the variable of achievement of  student’s learning. (2) There are effects of the use of digital media  significantly to achievement of  student’s learning. It can be known from the getting score of thitung =2,214 and Sig. 0,031 < 0,05. The variable of the use of digital media  contrbuted 12,67% in increasing achievement of  student’s learning. (3) There are effects of Class of Literation to students learning achievment significantly. It can be known by the getting score of thitung = 2,061 and Sig. 0,044 < 0,05. The variable Class of Literation contributed 11,53% in increasing achievement of  student’s learning. It tells us that there are possitive effects and significant to the use of digital media  and Class of Literation in together to achievement of  student’s learning. Keywords: Class Literation, the use of digital media, learning achievment. Abstrak : tujuan dari peneitian ini adalah untuk mendatpakan data tentang penggunaan media digital dan kelas literasi secara bersama-sama terhadap hasil belajar siswa di SMP Anugerah Abadi Pamulang Tangerang Selatan. Peneltian ini menggunakan metode penelitian analysis korelasi dan regresi. Yang artinya membuat hubungan antara penggunaan media digital dan kelas literasi secara bersama-sama terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Data tentang penggunaan media digital dan kelas literasi secara bersama-sama terhadap hasil belajar siswa didapatkan melalui kuisioner oleh  peneliti dengan mengukur sesuatu yang mempunyai hubungan bahwa : (1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan media digital dan  kelas literasi secara bersama-sama terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai Fo = 9,109 dan Sig. 0,000 < 0,05. Secara bersama-sama variable penggunaan media digital dan kelas literasi memberikan kontribusi sebesar 24,2 % terhadap variable hasil belajar siswa. (2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan media digital terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai thitung = 2,214 dan Sig. 0,031 < 0,05. Variabel penggunaan media digital memberikan kontribusi sebesar 12,67 % dalam meningkatkan  hasil belajar siswa. (3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan kelas literasi terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai thitung = 2,061 dan Sig. 0,044 < 0,05. Variabel kelas literasi memberikan kontribusi sebesar 11,53 % dalam meningkatkan  hasil belajar siswa. This research aimed to find out whether there was an improvement of the students’ skills in writing recount text after using guiding questions as a technique of writing. The method applied in this research was a quantitative method which use one group pre-test and post-test design. Random group sampling is used as the technique in taking a sample. Afterthat, the researcher took one class consist of 31 of second grade students as research participants. This research was held in 6 meetings involved pre-test, four meetings for treatment, and post-test. The instrument of data collecting was a written test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS v.16 and t-test.

This study is focused to analyze the emotive language functions in the Ellen DeGeneres talk show. The objective of this study is to describe the emotive language functions work in the conversation performance by the actors “Ellen with Will Smith Full Interview” talk show. This study uses qualitative method. The data are analyzed based on Jacobson’s theory. The result of this study shows that only 5 of 17 emotive language functions are applied. The emotive language functions applied are pleasure, like, dislike, surprise, gratitude. While the emotive language functions that not applied are hope, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, worry, preference, sympathy, intentions, want, desire, dear and disappointment. This study finds that the most emotive function that frequently used in the Ellen DeGeneres Talk Show is “like expression”. The emotive function in the Ellen DeGeneres talk show works to express the actor’s feelings to other people based on the context and situation of the conversation

  Abstrak Latar belakang penelitian ini untuk memberikan pemahaman terhadap nilai-nilai sosial yang ada dalam kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Bangka Belitung kepada pembaca agar dijadikan rujukan dan mengenalkan kembali cerita rakyat di masa modern ini kepada pembaca. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah nilai-nilai sosial apa saja yang terkandung dalam kumpulan cerita rakyat Bangka Belitung? Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai sosial yang terkandung dalam kumpulan cerita rakyat Bangka Belitung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif adalah metode penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan secara utuh dan mendalam tentang realitas sosial dan berbagai fenomena yang terjadi dimasyarakat yang menjadi subjek penelitian sehingga tergambarkan ciri, karakter, sifat, dan model dari fenomena tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan sosiologi sastra, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis karya. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: 1) Nilai kasih sayang yang terdiri dari: pengabdian, tolong menolong, kekeluargaan, kesetiaan, dan kepedulian. 2) Nilai tanggung jawab yang terdiri dari:rasa memiliki, disiplin, dan empati. 3) Nilai keserasian hidup yang terdiri dari: keadilan, toleransi, kerja sama, dan demokrasi. Buku Cerita Rakyat Bangka Belitung karya Maulana Syamsuri sangat baik untuk dibaca bagi masyarakat, karena di dalam buku ini banyak mengajarkan nilai-nilai sosial yang baik untuk dijadikan contoh.   Kata kunci : nilai sosial, cerita rakyat Abstract The background of this research is to provide an understanding of social values that are in the collection of the folklore of Bangka Belitung to the reader in order to be used as a reference and reintroduced the folklore in modern times is to the reader. Problems in the research of social values is what is contained in the collection of the folklore of Bangka Belitung? This research aims to know and describe the social values that are contained in the collection of the folklore of Bangka Belitung. The methods used in this research is descriptive qualitative method is a method of research that aims to describe completely and insightful about the social reality and the various phenomena that occurred dimasyarakat which became the subject of the research so that breakfast buffet characteristics, character, nature, and the model of the phenomenon. The approach used is the approach to the sociology of literature, while data analysis techniques using analytical techniques paper. The results of this study are as follows. 1) value of affectionate Devotion: (1), (2) Please help, (3), (4) familial loyalty, and (5) concern. 2) value of responsibility: (1) a sense of belonging, (2) discipline, and (3) empathy. 3) the value of the harmony of life: (1) justice, (2) (3) tolerance, cooperation, and (4) democracy. The book Folktales of Bangka Belitung works of Maulana Syamsuri very good to read for people, because in this book many teach social values are good to be used as an example.

Reading is one of the language skills which has an important role for the people because by reading people can get much information which they need. However, reading is not a simple activity. English reading is still a challenging task for Indonesian students. Therefore, a certain strategy may be used for improving students’ reading achievements. Using the USSR and Metacognitive strategies, this study aimed at improving the students’ reading comprehension achievement and finding out whether or not there was interaction among both strategies and students’ reading habit toward reading comprehension achievement. The population of this study is the tenth graders. Sixty tenth graders were selected as the sample and equally divided into experiment group 1 and experiment group 2. Next, both groups were tested before and after the treatment. Using paired sample t-test statistics, the results showed that the students’ reading comprehension achievement was significantly improved. The result of two way ANOVA showed that there was interaction (0.009).

The objective of this research is to find out and analyze the types of error made by students at the first-year classes in writing a recount text. The methodology of the research used is qualitative methods and the research design is a case study. Moreover, the writers chose the first-year classes students of English Department and observed 40 students. The writers used a written test to gain the data about error in writing a recount text. Based on the analysis of students’ recount text writing, there were several mistakes made by the students, with the total number of percentages was 76%. Of these, 76% errors including 15% errors of irregular verb usage, 12% errors of regular verb, and the type of error most often done by the students was 32% errors of word choice, 2% errors of omission, 3% errors of auxiliary verb, 5% errors of intralingual transfer, 2% errors of adverb, error of misordering was 5%, and error of unclear meaning was only 2%. The number errors of be was 17%, and the use of personal pronoun errors was 7%.

This study aims to seek insight into the use of Collaborative techniques in enhancing students’ interest in writing English and analyzing students' character development in writing skills by applying Collaborative techniques. It employs qualitative descriptive research where the primary data analyzed is the development of students’ writing interest and skill during the time of the implementation of the Collaborative Technique. In addition, as secondary data, the analyses of interview and classroom observations were tabulated as supporting primary data. Participants selected by using the Purposive Participant technique. A total of 60 regular students of the 2018 English Education Study Program at one of the private universities in Bandung were involved. The results of the study showed that collaborative technique is successful to increase students’ interest in writing English and also help them to develop their own writing skill form before the implementation, during, and after the implementation of Collaborative technique. Thus it can be concluded that collaborative technique affects the process of writing as an individual and group. By doing collaborative techniques in writing English, students tend to be an enthusiast to make a better writing text in English.

Conceptual metaphors are noticeable in everyday life, not just in language but in thought and action. They can be found in many life aspects such as advertisements. Through advertising slogans of products, especially coffee, metaphors are used. This paper aims are to: identify and analyze both the conceptual metaphors and the creative metaphorical linguistic expressions used in coffee advertising slogans and the possible reasons why a certain source domain is chosen for coffee target domain. The findings of this paper are that conceptual metaphors are used extensively in coffee advertising slogans to arouse customers’ interest. Good and creative coffee advertising slogans depend on well-chosen conceptual metaphors. This expands some new conceptual metaphors in our everyday life.Since advertising slogans contain brief and short sentences, even not in a full sentence, there could be more than one possible interpretation for each slogan. Different people may have different interpretation. No matter the understanding achieved, the advertising slogans main focus is to deliver a positive message and to promote the products.

Abstract : This study aimed at describing the process and result of translation of English idiomatic expressions in Zootopia into Indonesian context. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through observation. The researcher watched Zootopia while identifying the idiomatic expressions appeared in the movie. The idioms then were translated into Bahasa Indonesia by using various translation methods. The result of the study revealed that four English idiomatic expressions have the similar form and meaning with Bahasa Indonesia idioms. Many of the English idioms have the equal meaning of idiomatic expressions but appear in different forms. Other idioms do not have the idioms with equal meaning, thus they were translated by using free translation method. Finally, there is one English word adopted in Bahasa Indonesia since this word refers to a job that does not exist in Indonesian context, meter maid.   Keywords: Translation, idiomatic expressions, English, Bahasa Indonesia   Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses dan hasil terjemahan idioma bahasa Inggris di film Zootopia ke dalam konteks bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi. Prosedur penelitian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti menonton zootopia sambil mengidentifikasi idiom yang muncul di film. Idiom-idiom itu kemudian diterjemahkan ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia dengan menggunakan berbagai metode terjemahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa empat ungkapan idiomat bahasa Inggris memiliki bentuk dan makna yang mirip dengan idiom Bahasa Indonesia. Banyak idiom bahasa Inggris yang memiliki padanan makna yang sama dengan idiom bahasa Indonesia tetapi muncul dalam bentuk lain. Idiom yang tidak memiliki padanan idiom di dalam bahasa Indonesia, sehingga diterjemahkan dengan menggunakan metode penerjemahan bebas. Terakhir, ada satu idiom bahasa Inggris yang diadopsi dalam Bahasa Indonesia karena idiom ini merujuk pada pekerjaan yang tidak ada dalam konteks Indonesia, yaitu meter maid.   Kata kunci: Penerjemahan, idiom, bahasa Inggris, bahasa Indonesia
