Purpose This paper aims to describe mind–body infused coaching and to explain four distinct effects it can have on organizational executives and employees. Design/methodology/approach A review of theory and research on mind–body practices, emotional intelligence and work performance was conducted. A case study from the author’s experience also is included. Findings Mind–body infused coaching activates employees’ awareness, ignites a strengths-based approach, improves inner workings of the brain, boosts emotional intelligence and promotes curiosity. Practical implications HR professionals and managers are encouraged to obtain training in evidence-based mind–body principles to improve and sustain outcomes when coaching organizational executives and employees. Originality/value Conventional coaching approaches tend to be highly reductionistic by focusing solely on employees’ personality types, soft skills or achievement of specific goals. This paper discusses a holistic approach to coaching the whole person and outlines four specific benefits that could be anticipated as a result.

The article presents the results of an empirical study of Socio-psychological characteristics of group of Chinese students who are studying at Russian universities. 132 Chinese students aged between 18 to 26 years from Foundation course were involved in the study. Using investigational methods we found a correlation between language competence and sociometric and referentometric status of Chinese students throughout the academic year. It is expected that the acquired results are due to three factors: socio-psychological, where interpersonal relationships depend on the students' achievements; cultural-specific factors, where tenacity and diligence in work are valuable, and processes of socio-cultural adaptation.

ABSTRACTSocial skills of children aged 5-6 years is part of the maturation of social development of children in the transition from pre operational entering a concrete operational period. The ability of children aged 5-6 years in social skills can be seen from the behaviors that can be achieved in the child's ability to build interpersonal relationships and intrapersonal relationships. This research was conducted in kindergarden which aims to describe social ability of children aged 5-6 years and look for factors that affect the social skill ability of children. Subjects in this study were one of B Group students who had low social skills. This research uses qualitative approach with case study research method. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interview and documentation. Instruments in this research use obsevation sheet and interview sheet. From the data collected and then processed to be used as a whole data. Based on the results of research that has been done in Group B Kindergarden related social skills of children aged 5-6 years, this study can be concluded as follows: social skills of children aged 5-6 years in group B TK Aisyiyah 2 Kota Tasikmalaya reach BG criteria ( Beginning to Grow) with the underlying cause of the lack of opportunities to get along with the people around him with different ages and backgrounds, lack of interest and motivation for children, lack of guidance and teaching from others, which is usually a model for children and lack of ability communicate well to the child. ABSTRAKKeterampilan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun merupakan bagian dari pematangan perkembangan sosial anak dimasa peralihan dari pra operasional memasuki masa operasional konkrit. Kemampuan anak usia 5-6 tahun dalam keterampilan sosial dapat dilihat dari perilaku-perilaku yang dapat dicapai anak dalam kemampuan anak menjalin hubungan interpersonal dan hubungan intrapersonal. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Taman Kanak-Kanak yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun dan mencari faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan keterampilan sosial anak. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah salah satu siswa Kelompok B yang memiliki keterampilan sosial rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan lembar obsevasi dan lembar wawancara. Dari data yang yang terkumpul kemudian diolah untuk dijadikan data yang utuh. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan terkait keterampilan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun, maka penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: keterampilan sosial anak usia 5-6 tahun di kelompok B Taman Kanak-kanak  mencapai kriteria MB (Mulai Berkembang) dengan faktor penyebab kurangnya kurangnya kesempatan untuk bergaul dengan orang-orang yang ada disekitarnya dengan berbagai usia dan latar belakang, kurangnya minat dan motivasi anak untuk bergaul, kurangnya bimbingan dan pengajaran dari orang lain, yang biasanya menjadi model untuk anak dan kurangnya kemampuan berkomunikasi yang baik yang dimiliki oleh anak.

Job stress has become a global problem in recent years, and it is rising year after year. The purpose of this research was to identify influential factors of job stress that affect job satisfaction among the employees in the government sector in the southern region of Malaysia. This research is important because it will help the company determine the best way to assist their workers in improving their job satisfaction. Job stress consists of three elements, namely workload, role conflict, and interpersonal relationships. The questionnaires were distributed to 108 respondents who were employees at Lembaga Kemajuan Johor Tenggara (KEJORA). Descriptive statistics, Cronbach alpha, and regression analysis were employed to analyse the result using the SPSS analysis. The findings revealed that a significant positive relationship exists between interpersonal relationship and job satisfaction whereas role conflict and workload does not influence job satisfaction. Finally, limitations and suggestions for this study are also highlighted.

Gaslighting—a type of psychological abuse aimed at making victims seem or feel “crazy,” creating a “surreal” interpersonal environment—has captured public attention. Despite the popularity of the term, sociologists have ignored gaslighting, leaving it to be theorized by psychologists. However, this article argues that gaslighting is primarily a sociological rather than a psychological phenomenon. Gaslighting should be understood as rooted in social inequalities, including gender, and executed in power-laden intimate relationships. The theory developed here argues that gaslighting is consequential when perpetrators mobilize gender-based stereotypes and structural and institutional inequalities against victims to manipulate their realities. Using domestic violence as a strategic case study to identify the mechanisms via which gaslighting operates, I reveal how abusers mobilize gendered stereotypes; structural vulnerabilities related to race, nationality, and sexuality; and institutional inequalities against victims to erode their realities. These tactics are gendered in that they rely on the association of femininity with irrationality. Gaslighting offers an opportunity for sociologists to theorize under-recognized, gendered forms of power and their mobilization in interpersonal relationships.

In this paper, the realizations of apologies as evidenced in the Essex pauper letters of 19th century England are explored. The paper takes a critical look at the forms and functions of apologies, arguing that apologies in such texts are conventionalized in form. Taking into consideration the social norms of writing specific to this speech community, the study makes a distinction between two main functions of apologies and argues that apologies under scrutiny are not a politeness device that repairs and redresses an offence; rather, they exemplify a politic behavior that helps in the negotiation of interpersonal relationships and the attainment of the writers’ discursive goal.

In this article, we follow up the approach of employing existential hermeneutic phenomenology (EHP) (Rolfe et al., 2016) published in Project Management Journal® and we show that this innovative method, useful in managerial self-development, represents an important tool for learning not only in the private sector, but also in public research projects where managerial skills are required. In this article, we propose an extended EHP framework that includes the original ideas of phenomenologists Fink and Patočka. We present the results of our interpretative phenomenological analysis study, where issues of communication and interpersonal relationships emerge as key problems in project work.

Researchers have pursued interest in how the mimetic practice types of convention and ritual influence the ways in which people build up and maintain interpersonal relationships. Arguably, mimetic interactional acts that animate conventional and ritual practices are key to capturing fundamental aspects of interpersonal phenomena such as politeness, impoliteness, and humour, since language users tend to produce and interpret interpersonal behaviour through normative and repetitive moves, which may develop into routines. Despite the importance of mimetic acts in language use, little research has been done on mimesis itself in the realm of interpersonal pragmatics even though memes themselves have received attention. In this paper, we consider how mimetic chunks of interaction may develop into localised convention and possibly ritual by examining a corpus of 955 business emails between a British sole trader and her international clients, specifically focussing on mimetic practices present in greeting, signing-off and conversation topic. In particular, we attempt to show that by looking into habitual and everyday communication, the origins of conventional and ritual practices may be uncovered. A marked convergence towards using the same greeting or sign- off convention is noticeable in our quantitative data analysis and when examining the data qualitatively. The data also show that participants occasionally engage in relational practices that involve repeated and consistent responses to the same stimuli. The results indicate a tendency for accommodative communicative practices to be used, although there is no point at which mimesis can be interpreted as permanently “switched on”.

This article applies the technology of psychological classification to explore the effects of personality characteristics on prison adjustments and experiences. Bivariate and multivariate analysis assess the comparative effects of four personality types (committed criminal, neurotic, situational, and character disordered) on official disciplinary infractions, staff ratings of interpersonal behaviors, and self-reports of stress, aggressive behaviors, nonviolent infractions, and victimizations. The effects of other predictors, including age, race, marital status, employment status, prior prison time, prior prison revocations, and sentence length are also considered. Results indicate that inmates who were diagnosed as character disordered and those who had extensive prior prison experiences were more likely than others to have been cited for prison infractions. Young, White inmates and those who had never been revoked during prior sentences were more likely to report victimizing experiences. Inmates most likely to score high on the stress measure were White and neurotic anxious, whereas character-disordered inmates scored atypically low. Finally, older, White, situational inmates were viewed most favorably as staff rated the quality of their interpersonal relationships with other inmates.
